I don’t want to exaggerate, but this might be my favorite coffee shop in Chicago. Every single time that I have visited, it’s been perfect. The coffee is strong and smooth. The sugar is subtle. And the latte art (evidence attached) is perfect. The baristas are always sweet as well. Anytime I want a cup of coffee that won’t miss, I head to Umbria for a perfect cup.

I visited Chicago for the first time and visited Cafe Umbria four times (almost every day). It was conveniently located by the Westin River North, where I stayed.The staff were always friendly and bright, but not overbearingly so, and you could tell that they were genuine. I got the hot honey oat milk latte and lavender latte twice, each time either hot or iced. Both are great, but are definitely on the sweet side. For the lavender latte, be sure to stir well or you’ll get hit with the lavender syrup at the bottom of the cup. The cinnamon scone, plain and almond croissants are also good. Keep in mind that the croissants are more on the crispy side, rather than buttery.Will definitely come back here when I visit Chicago again!

This is a coffee shop that was created in Seattle, however, I didnt have the pleasure of trying it there. So we stopped by on our last morning in Chicago and ordered their lavender latte with whole milk. The rich flavor of the coffee with the softened edge of the lavender was soothing. A definite must have when I visit Chicago. I simply love all their flavors and the heart shapes with the cream made my day!!

Super cute Cafe with an indoor patio and outdoor patio. The coffee was great... Just what I needed on my afternoon of adventuring.

Walk-in experience:I made a quick stop at Caffe Umbria in Chicago on Clark St before heading to the airport. Im no expert in coffee, but I do love a latte. I ordered the honey oat latte on ice. No need to add extras because it taste great as is. The honey balanced the subtle nutty flavor of the oats milk and espresso. The flavor and caffeine got me on my merry way to the airport! Now I will need to try and replicate that somehow or just go back the next time Im in town or nearby. Also, the hostess was pleasant and attentive, as she recognized my University logo and made connecting conversation. Bonus!Drink:Honey oats milk latte on ice 4/5

This cafe had a big welcome sign that made me feel at home. The different aromas of coffee had me hooked. My breakfast sandwich was made fresh right at the counter where I could see it. My coffee was sweetened with natural honey and it was delish. Quinton was friendly and willing to answer my questions with no hesitation. I give this shop two thumbs up. Total five stars☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

COVID- no outdoor seating. Very very little window/bar seating. I saw two ppl working. Its more of an in and out place.COFFEE- I got their iced lavender latte. I will say it is not my absolute favourite (fave lav latte is Detroit Midtowns Great Lakes), brother got their regular coffee and liked it. We actually went back within 30mins to get more lavender latte!!OTHER- they have good selection of drinks and some foods to go. Friendly staff!!

In the morning, I drank coffee and ate breakfast. The coffee was delicious! I drank a cold brew, and I was not disappointed. The sandwiches were excellent, and I was pleased with how well they performed. They even have fantastic classes, and you can buy their beans to take home with you! If you enjoy coffee, I recommend that you visit this establishment.

The place is fantastic, and the coffee is delectable. Even if youre not leaving the city, its worthwhile to stop by. Its definitely worth the money! One of the workers, Aliza, was extremely sweet and even offered me a different flavor. Of course, I gave it a shot, and it was awesome. Its fantastic! This is an absolute must-see!

We only came in for a coffee, but the beautiful baked lemon cheesecake was too good to pass up! The service was excellent. The staff members are quite nice and frequently helpful. Theyre really quick to answer. I believe we will return to taste the different cakes and coffee choices on offer! Thank you very much!

Had a dirty chai latte with coconut milk, love that they offered so many alternative milk options. Pastries look delicious and I will for sure be returning for an almond croissant!

This is one of the best restaurants in our city! The environment was fantastic, and the staff was incredibly pleasant. They may even be able to make a mean cup of coffee. We enjoyed reading the pocket book they provided while sipping delicious coffee. I will undoubtedly return, and I highly encourage others to do the same.

Coffee here is phenomenal. Im a huge dessert coffee lover and the iced latte with hazelnut syrup was divine. Will definitely come back.

We were staying at the Westin across the street and stopped at this coffee shop every morning. DELICIOUS lavender latte and friendly, amazing service. Every person that worked there was smiling, upbeat (without going overboard), helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to help you. I’ll miss getting my daily morning coffee from here but will certainly be back next time I’m in Chicago!

Great amount of space to sit down and a cool atmosphere. Darker coffee and a lot of great flavors and formats to choose from.

We came only 15 min before closing, and the people here are super nice and kindly waited for us to finish our coffee and desserts. The place looks very attractive just as there drinks. The espresso is super impressive and the Mocha also taste nice.

This is the best coffee shop Ive ever seen. There are a lot of good people working there who have helped them become successful and well-developed. The coffee is fantastic, the interior design is stunning, and the food is delectable. This location is perfect for studying, working, or catching up with friends. The rates are also very fair. Cute coffee shop that makes a delicious latte. Seating is very limited but there are small tables in the building lobby next door. If you’re looking for a quiet place to work, bring headphones or go elsewhere because some people use those tables to take calls and seemed oblivious those around them.

Quick stop for coffee and a pastrie. Tumeric ginger latte was very good. Tried a Canale and it was good but they are so much better warm coming out of the oven when made at home. Cinnamon chip scone was REALLY good.

They are so fast. The coffee was AMAZING and so was the brownie. The staff was very kind and helpful.

Service was excellent. Great selection of coffee and coffee based beverages. I tried the Caffe e Peppe which is a latte with honey and spice. Different and tasty. I was also able to buy some of their roasted beans to make my own pour over at home for those days that Im stuck on Zoom calls. Baked goods available. My fianceé thought the chocolate croissant was really good. Caffe Umbria is definitely worth your time if your looking for a great cup of coffee!

Got their cappuccino freddo, which is a sugared version of cappuccino poured onto ice. Just okay. Both coffee and milk got overpowered by the sweetness. But, they do make AMAZING milk foam!

Wow. I was told by the barista they’re know for their espresso, but that oat milk cappuccino was off the charts and the gluten-free vegan chocolate hazelnut cookie was a perfect sidecar. No bathroom, but a nice space to sit and savor your coffee before being on your way. Love trying new places, but will likely make this one a new habit.

Let’s be real. I came here because of the beautiful mugs. The service was great and the lattes were perfect. Arrived around 8am on a Saturday and sat by the window to people watch. Nice little place to enjoy coffee.

Good coffee. Very helpful barista. I’m mostly an Americano drinker, but he very patiently and enthusiastically explained the other come complex drinks to my daughter.

Cafe Umbria is awesome. I stop in for a chai tea latte whenever I go to the office and I am always greeted with warmth and a smile. The Clark St location is right across the street and I love it. I only wish they would stay open later, I believe they close at 4PM on weekdays.

As always the best coffee in Chicago on top of that add great service.

Smallish spot with excellent coffee and friendly service. Such smooth coffee. Love it! When an unexpected downpour came they lent us an umbrella to use. Can’t beat service like that! Some of the best coffee Ive ever had. Staff was so much fun to talk with and super knowledgeable about their blends. Would highly recommend this place to coffee snobs and coffee amateurs alike. Will be back the next time Im in Chicago!

Great coffe!! I had the shakeroto espresso and it was amazing. We were new to the place, and staff was annoyed seemed like it. But it could had just been a bad day for them. Otherwise a great great Instagram worthy place :) we ended up buying a bag of coffe as well. Will definitely stop in again.

Mainstream third wave coffee with a touch of Italy. Their coffee has the slight darker roast flavor to it and is just as delicious.

Wow the lovely person who made me my dirty chai this morning was a light in my morning and the drink that i have received this morning, is so good. so good.The espresso is pleasantly bitter and tangy and the chai was spiced perfectly. It wasnt sweet enough for my sweet tooth but i am still enjoying every sip!anyway to the guy with the glasses thank you for making me a kickin drink and indulging my chitchatting this morning 🙂

Yesterday night, my friend and I felt so boring. The day was dull. Thus, we decided to have some coffee nearby to our place. The staff was welcoming us. As we chose the coffee flavor, we expected that it would be as perfect as we imagined the taste. Were not disappointed for it was the ultimate flavor, and the taste was really yummy! We thank you all for serving us the best!

Ive been here a few times for coffee prior. This place is a gem! My favorite is their classic cup of coffee with lots of cream and sugar. Im a simple guy with a sweet tooth. I can sit down in a quiet spot and answer my emails. The lattes are delicious as well, and the staff is very friendly. Heres a hint, ask the staff what they like to drink and theyll usually whip up something special. A great place to get your caffeine boost!

I was really disappointed coming here after seeing their high rating. I felt like their coffee wasnt anything spectacular and the shop is super small. There was 4 high seats at a counter and a 2 seat table. There was more seating in a hotel lobby next door but that was full as well. Definitely a grab and go type shop.Maybe Im not enough of a coffee enthusiast to appreciate their coffee but I felt very underwhelmed. I also wish they served it in a fancier cup instead of a paper one but perhaps you need to specify when ordering. Price and service were alright but felt like a very average experience.

Wonderful, wonderful service! I seriously cant recommend enough. I visited frequently while staying in Logan Sq during my vacation. Friendly staff, amazing coffee. They offer snacks/treats, free WiFi, and ample seating. You can get coffee (ground or beans) to take home with you. Every visit here was perfect.
