Asked for espresso and pour over. Espresso was a nice, fruit-forward shot. The pour over was actually prepared as a French press. Didnt correct them because thats a waste of coffee, and the immersion method was still delicious. But wouldve preferred percolation.

The best latte and best group of gals ever!!!! I got the cardamom oat latte and barista Zoe made it to perfection. I stopped here from out of town on a whim this morning and I was amazed. Awesome space and awesome people. I love Chicago! Coming back so soon!! cheers :)

Came to Big Shoulders from out of town, and gotta say, its one of the best! Espresso so good, I didnt even add cream or sugar. Smooth, not at all acidy, and just plain good! Friendly staff, and also great baked goods. I had the Crumb Cake donut and loved it. Come n check it out!

A small place in the heart of Chicago, near the magnificent mile, serves one of the best coffees. We had the signature lattes - horchata and a marshmallow - and it tasted so good!!! We also had the cinnamon and currant scones. Didnt like the cinnamon scone much, but thats what my girlfriend ate so no complaints there, but the currant scone was AMAZING! Id totally want to try out this place again and order some of the other signature lattes.

V60 coffee was good. Drip coffee not so much, below standard quality. The ambiance was good and so was the service.

2 mornings in a row, different staff each day and they are friendly, and welcoming. And coffee is very good!

I bring my staff here on our break. Proper customer service, all espresso tampered properly, all employees are passionate about what they do, all beverages are at the perfect temperature, outstanding quality coffee and the place is extremely clean. Alex the manager is outstanding. Thank you big shoulders coffee for providing a luxurious experience that we can all afford!

One of the good tasting Coffe’s in Chicago

Good coffee, good breakfast sandwiches, great service. Unfortunately can’t enjoy the indoor vibe due to COVID restrictions, but they have tables & chairs out on the sidewalk.Staff have been friendly & attentive when I’ve come in. When I pick up coffee, I usually go for something I can’t make at home, so I’ve tried their horchata and cardamom lattes so far- they were delicious. My go-to sandwich is their turkey sausage with cheddar in a brioche bun (bonus: it also comes with a delicious sauce). I wanted to shake things up outside of my Starbucks routine - very happy I stopped by.

Not a lot of indoor seating. Possibly because of Covid

Cute coffee shop with special signature lattes and even a pour over option. They also serve good looking pastries which I didn’t try. I had a regular drip coffee which is self served and very delicious! I like that it was not served in a plastic cup. They also have free WiFi and many outlets for charging your mobile device.The reason why I give not 5 stars is that I was standing at the counter for a while ready to order. Nobody greeted me or paid any attention to me. Only after I asked if I can order here and the staff simply said no, over here and pointed at the end of the counter. This could have been handled better.

One of my favorite coffee shops in Chicago! Their coffee is excellent. I particularly enjoy their pour overs and cold brew on nitro. If youre lucky, you can get Do-Rite donuts here early in the morning.

Ive probably been here over 30 times in the last 2 months and its because they have amazing coffee and everyone is always super nice. Slow drip and white nitro are highly recommended here as Ive visited almost every coffee shop within a 3 mile radius of this place and this is by far the best. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this specific location.

Exceptional service and quality drinks. From the moment we walked in to our last minute, we felt very comfortable. The baristas were both super polite and helpful. The drinks we had were superior to a certain overpriced chain at half the price. The atmosphere was ideal for work, chitchat or just relaxing with a book. The location is also perfect. Not too crowded, but also not far from mag mile shopping.

This is a great little cafe in the gold coast, very near Loyolas downtown campus. They have a plethora of specialty coffee, including cold brew. Do-Rite donuts are available (always delicious), or house-made scones. The bacon, jalapeno, cheddar was tasty.

Though there were many choices of coffee drinks, I just had the regular brew, which was very full-bodied and tasty. I sat in the Cafe to sip the drink and read, and the barrista brought over a glass of water - lovely touch. Theyre good about letting you taste the drink options, and are very friendly. Also, if you stay in the shop, coffee refills are free - unheard of these days!

Nice small comfy place. Service was excellent as well as the old fashioned donut I had. They brought the coffee out to me which I thought was a nice touch.

Fantastic service and great coffee! I sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the baristas interact and make the drink efficiently. One of the drinks is served with a roasted marshmallow on top. It was entertaining to watch them blowtorch a marshmallow in front of me.

We decided to give this place a shot. The breakfast food is prepared a few hours before opening, and reheated in a microwave. Absolutely appalling, I’m not paying $8 for a $3, 5 hour old burrito. Totally inedible at best.

Primarily poor due to attitude and practice of the staff. Staff member sitting on counter where coffee is prepared (gross)! Staff wiping nose while pouring our coffee (disgusting). Coffee was over brewed and sour. Supposed to have a coffee tasting on Mondays. Staff refused to do it even though it would have been good training opp for new staff member. It was not busy so no real reason not to do it. Disappointed.

Quaint and comfortable setting with perfect lighting. I come here often to work. They have a great matcha latte with almond milk or oat...delicious. Although I havent had their other lattes, they look delicious . Staff is friendly and they have wifi which is a plus! Thanks Big Shoulders for being an independent option in the gold coast!

Ive only been the once, but they had an awesome Ethiopian coffee available as pour-over. If I get the chance before leaving town, I will definitely try another coffee there. Super friendly and helpful staff too.

Took my drink order wrong, admitted they overcharged me, then all FOUR employees stood around doing nothing until I had to ask them to make my drink. Offered me no compensation for the overcharged drink, then proceeded to make me easily the most poorly extracted expresso I have ever tasted. I really regret that you have to tip before you get your drink, as they did not deserve the 30% tip I gave them. I am convinced the reviews on this place are fraudulent as the experience was inexcusably bad.

Yuck! I wanted to like this place because it’s right next to My Apartment, and the people are very nice, but the coffee just taste like dirt. I actually just threw out a six dollar latte it tasted so bad. I also felt buzzed and it was a decaf. I am very confused why everyone seems to like it so much. Bummer!
