I wouldn’t call it heaven. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t delicious as well. As a Polish woman I can tell they could be way more tasty but considering the place - they are okay. Just ok - don’t expect anything extra and don’t expect traditional polish cuisine since it’s just not. The filling of pierogis (flavour) is a little bit hard, should be softer (especially the ones with meat, spinach and meat&spinach. As we are here: true polish cuisine do not recognize the meat&spinach filling, it just doesn’t go well together, this combination is not a tasty one. Kraut and mushroom filling is okay, no regrets and no astonishments. The dough of the pierogis is way too thick and hard. Soup (red borsch) gives a feeling as made from the powder or some concentrate. It’s ok but still you won’t be delighted. But it’s served in a big portion! Summing up: for people who don’t know the true polish cuisine it’s a nice place to go, you will eat there a decent meal in a nice price. For people who know polish traditions - better not, you won’t be satisfied. I don’t regret but I wouldn’t go there again.
Phenomenal Pierogis. Calm, quiet sit-in restaurant that is fast and easy - just outside South Wells St exit of Clark/Lake CTA station. Over a dozen different pierogies that you can mix with your order. Different toppings available as well. Polish sausauge was good too. Fast, inexpensive and delicious with a super friendly staff and great location makes it a must :)
Good quick cheap food! Pierogies dough is thick and chewy, filling is good, but a little bland. The carmelized onions are good and bacon is alright, although the seem like the processed kind youd find at a salad bar.First time having pierogies so a little tough reviewing. I eat a lot of Chinese dumplings which are pretty similar. Although the filling is less fatty than dumplings which makes it feel a bit dry. Also never had sour cream with them but definitely a good combo.Overall, a decent place to get something quick for under $10!
Was in downtown Chicago this past weekend for two days. We stumbled upon this place while in the hotel looking for polish restaurants near our hotel. Ordered the two polish sausages dinner which was very good and my wife had 6 pierogis which consisted of 3 potato and cheese which she did not like because they were bland and 3 mushroom pierogis which she loved. Very friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. The only disappointment that I have with this place is the to go order that I placed before leaving Chicago and heading home. With the tip included the total came out to $64.00. Wasnt disappointed on the price that I paid for the food as it was inexpensive while also being located in Chicago. The disappointment was the cabbage rolls as I have had alot better than pierogi heaven. The cabbage rolls were mainly filled with rice and had very little meat in them. The tomato sauce that was on the cabbage rolls was very thin and not alot of sauce were on the rolls. Will definitely take a pass on this place next time were in Chicago looking for polish food.
Quick food stop with excellent options. We especially liked the mushroom and potato cheddar, and I was happy with the borscht too! Im Ukrainian so the Polish food was a bit different than Im used to (the borscht is not vegetarian), but it was a great experience overall.
You cannot judge a book by its cover. The awning looks old, the lighting makes it feel like an old deli, but the food is on point. I wish the pierogis had a little bit more oil/moisture/flavor, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Keep small businesses going!!
Finest food, very nice employees, constantly fantastic ambience. They charge convenient pricing and the food quality is awesome. Kudos.
We were in town for wedding (from TX) and figured we could get some home made pierogis, these reminded me of the ones by polish grandma use to make! YUMMY! so glad we found this place! the only thing they didnt have was extra melted butter, but there were still outstanding! I had the potato and cheese ones and my daughter had the fruit filled, they were delicious! i would go back again the next time I come to Chicago!
Simply perfect! We are at the end of our 3 months trip in the US so we really wanted to eat Polish food after so many burgers and stakes. Guess what? This is part of Poland in the US. Pierogi are even better then my mom makes! You must try Kraut and mushrooms, spinach (!) and all of the sweet ones.
Quiet, little place with amazing food and staff! Ordering was easy and service was fast. The food was really good and each flavor delivered what it promised. The staff is absolutely amazing. The guy who helped us was super friendly and made me want to come back. Definitely coming back!
First time polish cuisine for us. Liked it! We took the ones with beef and the ones with cabbage. For two persons, was enough. Also, the girl who was serving over there, was super cool to clean our mess after we accidentally spilled water on the table. Nice authentic food and great service. Worth a stop for something new to try.
Pretty authentic Chicago place. Also my favorite place to get Pierogis downtown.
I really wish the guy behind the counter had been actually nice. He was very abrupt. I did not know I was required to order online first. I do NOT like that I cannot mix and match pierogi fillings. I was forced to order 9 of the same type. I can go to the store and buy 12 pierogis of the same type if thats what I wanted. The appeal of having so many different types would be if you could pick and choose which ones you want. He ended the transaction by bringing my meal to the door and said thank you okay. At least you ended it somewhat congenially. But if it hadnt been for my friend with me, I would have skipped the place altogether for how I was yelled at when I arrived.Look I feel bad that someone bust the glass in your door. And yes, this pandemic is tweaking everyone out, but your livelihood depends on repeat customers. And you lost me with your gruff attitude. The pierogis were good though. But thats not what its all about it anymore. Good food with a side order of verbal abuse is not something I feel like paying for. I hope everyone else has a better experience. But, the woman that came to the door was asking him about mixing and matching pierogis too and she got frustrated with him, threw up her hands and left, muttering its just not worth it. So maybe this is just the norm.
Low-key lunch spot with delicious Pierogis. One of my favorite mid-priced lunches in the city. Honestly tasted better than some Pierogies I had in Krakow
Excellent pierogis. Too good actually... We ate 2 dozen! Hot, tasty food and quick, friendly service. Parking was easy, too.
Dont let the basic look of this place fool you. We got 3 sets of 3 for under $10. Meat, sweet cheese and potato & cheddar. They were all fresh made & delicious Cant wait to go back & try the other flavors & the polish sausage & cabbage wraps.
AMAZING FOOD! So good, MUST stop by! Priced well for the amount and quality of food you get! Definitely coming back for more!
Difficult to locate. Staff not very pleasant or helpful; somewhat curt. Food was solid. Selection needs to allow for mix and match so you can try more. Instead, you have to order at least three of any one flavor.Worth trying out, just go in with set expectations.
This is a reasonably priced option in the loop with great pierogis and plenty of options! I recommend it to coworkers and have been back a few times. Not very big, so don’t expect to find a table and eat there.
Good flavor (we got both sweet and savory) and friendly service but the pierogi got cold a little to quickly. Simply because of this it’s unlikely I’ll return. The atmosphere also leaves much to be desired. Seating area especially is pretty dingy and the place doesn’t exactly inspire thoughts of freshness or cleanliness.
The pierogi soup is delicious! I would also try the cabbage wrap. They come in two different sauces (tomato or mushroom). Both are really good.
Fantastic pierogi and excellent stuffed cabbage. It was pretty quick to get the pierogi but the stuffed cabbage took a bit. You get the option of two sauce on the stuffed cabbage and they are both good. This is a great lunch place and I would highly recommend the stuffed cabbage.
Try the Polish sausage! It is a quality that is hard to come by in America. Reminds me of home in the best possible way.
Were Ukrainian so we know the real thing, and the pierogi here are great especially the potato with cheese and the fruit filled ones. The variaty of other filling is not authentic, still nice to have. But the borscht is not the real thing - its not made with rich stock, probably just a powered mix. But if you get it opt for the bowl which comes with lots of dumplings - again not the real authentic little ears but more like the Asian variety. It makes for a nice beverage.
The best pierogies in town. Other menu items good too. Small place but worth the stop for lunch or pick up to take home for dinner, what I usually do. Enjoy
Delicious and cheap eats. Simple, clean space with no frills. The only improvement they could make is to allow you to order them crisped up in a hot pan. But if thats your favorite way to eat pierogi, you could always take the order home and do it yourself. Either way, yum!
Had to see what all the hype was about and were glad we did. Kraut and Mushroom, cheese and potato sweet cheese and cheese were all delicious and I highly recommend. Didnt catch the names of who was working today but you two were so sweet, so thank you for being nice to every customer walking in the door. It was so welcoming and next time I come to Chicago I will be back.
Your typical hole in the wall local restaurant. My wife and I missed it the first time we went looking for it, the directions were on the wrong side of the intersection, but once we found it were were very happy. My wife loves smoked sausage and the ones they have here are very good. The pierogi were boiled and served, not my preferred method, I prefer the boiling and pan fry, pot sticker style but to each their own. The flavor was good. A great quick place for lunch that you could recommend to friends.
Do you like authentic pierogis? Some kick ass borscht? This place delivers! Quick cafeteria style ordering, so no wait. Great for a quick stock and some quality food!
The pierogis here are amazing. This place is a small unassuming gem in the city. I definitely recommend you visit this place at least once.
Disappointed. I was born in Poland and really hoped to try Polish cuisine here in Chicago. Travelled all the way up from Miami to be closer to home flavors... Nope.. Missed approach. I was served pre-cooked, frozen pierogi that I can buy myself in a supermarket half-price! What a shame. Borscht was decent though.
Love these perogies so much! They are a pretty standard lunch price downtown. I highly recommend the potato/cheddar and mushroom flavors. Do not get the dessert ones. Dont do it. Its highly syrupy and not a specialty of theirs. Do get the polish sausage in addition to your order, you wont regret it!
Pierogis 🥟 served quickly and quite good tasting. Not bad on seating if you arrive a little before the lunch rush. Nice spot to grab lunch
We absolutely loved this place. Its always hard to find good Polish food and Pierogi Heaven didnt disappoint! After walking around aimlessly for about 3 hours we found ourselves knocking on the door to heaven and walking out with 20 pierogi. Our entire walk home we kept wanting to reach into the box and crush 1 (or 10 of them). When we got home we ate the entire box in less than 3 minutes. We will be there again shortly!
You will find meat, vegetable, potato, cheese, savory and sweet Pierogis here as well as daily specials. Dont forget the borscht, a cup is a good start and a bowl comes with tiny dumplings. Simple counter service, pleasant staff, limited seating, but a place for a quick bit on the run. Dobrze!
Pierogies were great and I love the home kitchen style atmosphere
Great pierogi with a ton of options! They kept the line moving really fast, which helped out in a small space during lunchtime. Right off the blue line too, super convenient!
The best pierogis Ive ever had, in such a cute location its easy to miss but the charm is a great factor to the location.
I have been ordering from here for years. The pierogis never disappoint. The staff is friendly and efficient. What more is there to say?
Comfort food at an affordable price
Fantastic food! We had a wide assortment of pierogies and also the stiffed cabbage. All the food was extremely good and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely go back.
Having lived in Poland for 2 years, I can say with great pleasure that the pierogi was incredibly authentic. Everything was wonderful, and I only regret not eating more now that I cant go again. I was looking for some really good pierogi, and I found it. Highly recommend.
Tiny place, big taste, friendly service. Its almost a hole in the wall, but very nicely maintained.
It really is pierogie heaven! So many varieties to select from and a great deal for lunch.
This is a stellar little place to grab some super tasty food. Low key and casual, with awesome and friendly staff. The wife and I felt really at home, and not only are their pierogis pretty tasty, but their sauerkraut and sausage is also really good. Give this place a go.
This little place is awesome! We were exploring and happen to come across this bad to the bone little Pierogi place and as a person with Polish ancestry, I was like hell yes! So we stopped in and I was blown away by the awesome prices and awesome pierogi selection and taste! Everything was perfect! Highly recommended for a quick, awesome pierogi experience!
They had really good food. Very homey.
Absolutely delicious pierogi and a great lunch alternative. Make sure you get the bacon, onions, and sour cream with it. ;-)
Very good and reasonably priced. The real thing.
Would be better cooked a little longer, but still good!
Simple, straightforward, tasty, and fast. Go here if you need a fast, cheap lunch and want something with meat and carbs. Great for fall and winter months. Potato and cheese was bland but the meat pierogis were delicious.
The pierogies are really good! Their pricing is a little frustrating and their customer service is mediocre, but I would still go back.
Amazing food, good prices. This is a delicious authentic restaurant.
Youll get hungry just by reading sign Pierogi Heaven. Great little spot for those who are looking for authentic Polish food. Quick bite for lunch break. Filling a huge gap of Polish restaurants in downtown Chicago
I am polish and I love pierogis these are as good as the ones my grandma makes. I would really recommend this place
For the locals Im sure they know what pierogi are, but for those who dont - youve got to try this place. We went there for two meals in just few days, because it was so good. Fresh pierogi with many variety fillings from meat, mushroom to sweet fruit. They also serve other meals, including stuffed cabbage golabki. Place is a small room on busy street, different level of fast food done well. You can sit down and eat there ( self service) or take out, you can call in and pick your order to go. On my list to visit every time when will go to Chicago.
The food is delicious. The price is on point and the portions are huge. Everything is shareable. Definitely recommend.
Ordered pierogi (meat, potato, and fruit), polish sausage, and stuffed cabbage for an office party at work. Food was not worth, the $125 I paid. I was embarrassed at the small portions and quality. I do not recommend, nor will I ever order again.
We stopped here for a mid-afternoon snack. I am not sure if this is more of a take out place or small lunch place, but there was not much seating inside. The pierogis were tasty,, but I cannot attest if they were made in house or not.
Very bad potatoe cheese pierogis! Couldn’t even imagine someone can make something like that. This is surely not polish farmers cheese. The worst pierogis I had in Chicago!
Really amazing food, helpful and friendly staff. Its easy to see why people rave about this place, and I definitely plan on making this a regular stop for a quick bite.
I’m not Polish, but the food seems very authentic. Friendly staff and excellent food.
Small out of the way spot, but everything is delish
Really good food. Cute little place.
Great food at great pricing. Kids cleared their plates and looked for more.
Great place for fresh pierogi which are delicious. Only complaint - not hot enough. (Temp not spice) Very small. Does a lot of takeout. No bathroom.
Great Lunch Spot. I got the spinach and meat, cheddar, and dill Pierogis. The dill didnt have much flavor, but the others were delicious. Ill be back to try some more!
Wonderful food,I had the Polish sausage meal. Great sauerkraut. My friend had 9 pierogi he said they were fantastic.
Homemade pierogis are delicious. This is a lunch joint. Nothing fancy. Seems to attract ethnic customers searching specifically for pierogis. I believe the family is Polish, not Ukrainian. They served them with optional sauerkraut. They didnt serve them with cabbage and onions, which is what Im used to. Still, a treat to find.
This place is my guilty pleasure for when I just want some comfort food. I love pierogies, and they come with a number of different fillings. You can even get grilled onions, sour cream and bacon added on. Theyve got other things as well, like kielbasa, but honestly, Ive only ever gone for their pierogies.
Great pierogis in a small space with a few tables.
The pierogis were good, i had meat and potato and cheddar both had a good amount of filling. Fast service and friendly staff.
Kind servers and delicious food! The pierogis were wonderful and a total bargain. Highly recommend!
Warning, please do not order Stuff cabbage, they are hideous. I ordered them with the hope that I would eat tasty Polish stuffed cabbage, unfortunately I was very disappointed, the cabbage was overcooked and burnt, probably they were thawed. Im still bouncing this nightmare meal.
