Very nice folks at this shop and great equipment. Jordan and team walked me through my options for turntables and helped me make the best decision based on my setup and needs. I’ll be back
If youre in the market for any audio gear for your home or otherwise, this is the place. I recently brought 2 turntables here for repair. The service was friendly and exceeded my expectations. Twice I have run into the owner here who is pretty much the Gold Star example of an independent business owner. Saturday Audio Exchange carries a broad range of quality vintage and modern merchandise and treats its customers with a similar level of care: old or new, Saturday Audio has your back!Im a business owner in Chicago as well, and a turntable enthusiast / neurotic audio person.SAE is literally steps from the L and Reckless Records -- what more could ya want?
The owner himself waited on me and helped me pick out a cartridge for a Vintage 70s Pioneer system. Hes very knowledgeable and friendly.
I had been a new-to-the-scene audiophile for a year without ever walking into a store like this. These guys were so friendly and helpful while I pondered a nice used preamp. Since it wasnt busy, the salesman helping me stood with me and shot the breeze about different products. Having never known another audiophile in person, I was a little over-enthusiastic and chatty but they were kind the whole time I was there. Check this place out if you havent yet- its a must-visit.
Absolutely amazing experience today! I walked in with a predetermined list of things and price points and walked out with more than I could have hoped for! The staff was amazing and the store pet extremely friendly. I will definitely be back in the future :)
My partner and I walked in to buy a pair of bookshelf speakers and left with a better understanding of how to get the most out of the records that built our musical foundation as well as those that continue to shape our taste. Jordan helped us understand the components that contribute to a rich listening experience while keeping our budget in mind. Jordan both guided us through the ways in which systems drive important sounds and how we can further our appreciation of albums we love and tailor our experience in the future. We will be revisiting this small business in the future and want to emphasize the knowledge of the staff and wide selection.
Had a great experience here, can’t say enough good things. Employees were extremely friendly and helpful. Recommend to anyone!
This is the spot!!I doubt I will ever go to another audio shop in Chicago. The guys here are incredibly knowledgeable, beyond helpful, and ultimately passionate about audio. Joe even did a house call when I needed help with some gear I got from them. Great selection, and you can be sure you’ll get all the help you need.
Cannot say enough about this place. I’ve bought equipment there and had repairs done. Staff is super knowledgeable, friendly and fair. They will not disappoint!
This is a store I could spend all day in, they have new and used audio equipment and are really helpful.I took my Turntable there and unfortunately it could not be saved but they were great in helping me find a new one and also have a great selected of used vinyl to buy too.Really can’t speak highly enough of how friendly they were!
Exceptional service and high quality products. I bought my first record player and sound system here and have been guided through every step of the process. Who knew there were soo many components to just playing some old vinyls?! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely the place to go for all your audio needs! Highly recommend and cant wait to grow my record collection!
They gave me a fair offer for some used McIntosh equipment. They were very professional, courteous and honest. It is a really cool place to check out because they are loaded up with amazing vintage audio gear. Every employee in the place was friendly. I highly recommend them.
Very knowledgeable and straightforward.Enjoyable to work with.Tons of used and new equipment.
I come here whenever I have issues or questions about my record players. They’ve always been courteous and kind with their service. I’ve never felt out of place which is a unique experience for such a niche environment.
Excellent selection excellent pricing great advice and experience behind it to make sure that you get the right product for your dollar been there a long time and various locations Ive been a loyal customer for quite some time and have never had anything but a wonderful experience there and enjoyed everything Ive ever bought there highly recommended
Wow this place is exceptional. I bought a turntable here. Not only was it the same price as on Amazon but they set it up and walked me through usage to ensure optimal playability and longevity. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Their store hours can be inconvenient if you’re looking to come here anytime other than the weekend but the timing for my purchase worked out perfectly. Will be back.
Saturday Audio Exchange is a great shop to explore audio gear. I first visited the shop in 2012, with a budget in mind, a desire for a turntable and speakers, and no idea what I was doing. The staff all has a love of audio, and a friendly attitude. Their knowledgeable staff took my rather small budget, talked through options, asked questions about our room and what music we listened to, and let us listen to various speakers within our price range. My wife and I were floored. We were there for a few hours, relaxing, talking about music, and not being pressured to do anything. We took a week or two, returned, and bought a system that we loved. A few years later, our needs changed, and we sold back our initial system and bought something smaller. When a vendor sent the wrong product, the staff visited my house with the right equipment when it came in. Hand delivery! You cant beat that. When my needs change again, Ill return to Saturday Audio Exchange. I cant recommend them highly enough.
Great assistance and answered all of my audio questions. As a first time audio system buyer, I was very impressed and very appreciative of their service.Plus, Trixie the poodle is such a wonderful and sweet girl!
I had an absolutely wonderful experience buying a new record player, receiver, and speakers here. Nathan helped me out. He was extremely knowledgeable and never tried to upsell me. He helped me try a bunch of different speakers and I ADORE the system I ended up with. Highly recommend!
Took a trip from the Lake Geneva area to the Saturday Audio Exchange for a preamp. Got a great deal on a Harmon Kardon Citation 25, sounds great!! Very happy with the entire visit, looking forward to going back for the next upgrade down the road...
The level of support and customer service here is second to none. My husband has bought speakers and other equipment here and I am always amazed that he can pick up the phone and have a productive conversation with a friendly and knowledgeable staff member. They even called him the next day to check in on how the set up on our project was going and offered to come to the house if we needed extra help. Support and service (and high end audio products) that you wont find anywhere else.
I was just in Chicago on business and stumbled across this wonderful place as I was exploring the city. So much great mid to high end audio equipment for sale - all reasonably priced! After about an hour of browsing and a great conversation with Joe, I ended up having them ship a preamp back to Philly that was too good of a deal to pass up.I foresee all of my future audio purchases happening with them - they’re knowledgeable and more than willing to help you find the right equipment for your needs.
I Called 2 hours in advance and told the woman answering the phone that I was interested in two items. She said she would be sure to have them set up so I can hear them play . With cash in hand and an hour and 10 minute drive I go in the store to find what I was interested in buried behind a ton of old equipment. I did not have time to wait so I left and headed home. I want to thank Saturday Audio for wasting my Sunday afternoon, My time, And my money. I will never visit your store again and will tell friends and Family not to waste their time with a company that does not care about the customers. That is correct Apology not accepted.
Great store with amazing new and vintage equipment. Staff is very knowledgeable in system design. Purchased Acoustats M3 speakers.
Heaven ought to be a great deal like this shop. If it is not, I should be perfectly happy to spend Eternity in Saturday Audio Exchange. Great stereo gear, smart and friendly staff, cool atmosphere - and straight, factual answers to all your questions. All the qualities that make Chicago a magic destination are present in abundance here. A vest-pocket Golconda for the audio enthusiast generally; Cloud Nine for Vinyl Junkies such as myself. Go before you spend money elsewhere.
Knowledgeable, patient, attentive. The associate helping me, Carl, spent a good half hour demonstrating the differences among speakers. He played all different genres of music through the speakers and explained how one model was better for bottom end, how one brought through treble in rock guitar, another had clear bass for funk music, etc. He explained why everything cost what it cost, and where the money was worth spending and where it was worth saving. After purchase, he took everything out of the box and meticulously explained how to set it all up. He even called me after I left because he forgot to tell me a fairly minor detail. Its been about a month, and I am very happy with the whole package (record player, amp, speakers). Everything sounds great, and does just what Carl said it would. I shopped around, and the prices are fair -- about average for what I bought. But the quality of service and value of buying local are extra benefits that make the price a real bargain. I will buy all my audio stuff here.
These guys are great. They carry top notch gear. It is a comfortable no pressure shopping experience, based on trying to find the right equipment for you. I purchased my system from them some years ago and I continue to be extremely pleased with it. I have been back for other purchases and the great experience is always the same.
I called them looking for a lead on repairing an old Victrola and they were amazing! Immediately they referred me to someone else and emailed me a video on how to do it myself as well. These guys are great and didnt try to hard sell me anything from their place. Definitely coming back here when we redo the (modern) surround in our entertainment room.
I really like this store. Though it is small, they have a nice selection of gear. They have something good in each price range, from affordable to high end. They always have an interesting selection of quality used equipment. The sales atmosphere is really laid back and low pressure, which I find appealing. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable, but not pushy or pretentious. They have nice listening rooms to audition gear. What I especially like is you are not rushed in the listening rooms.
If you like top-notch electronics and are an audio file this place is for you see Joe.
Great place with really helpful staff. They let us listen to a bunch of our own music when we were deciding which speakers to buy. They also cut speaker wire and sell other accessories at an affordable price. Go local, these guys are the best.
Im so happy we decided to check out this place. They REALLY know what they are talking about, unlike the big box stores. We were helped by Robert (works on Sundays) and he was so great. Didnt pressure us. Took time to show us all of our options and worked within our budget. Gave us time and taught us a few things to boot. We walked out with a full setup and saved a ton of money buying a few used components as well.Everyone we talked to was really with it. I had a screaming kid with me too, and they laughed with him and didnt make me feel like I had to run out of there. Paid off because I bought $1,000 worth of gear. =)Great guys working there and they know what they are doing. Go and spend your money here and not on Amazon or Best Buy. They deserve it and you can trust they arent just trying to rob you blind.
Had a superb experience with the guys at Saturday Audio Exchange. Super fast to respond to email enquiries before I ventured out. I got a turntable on sale and a receiver. They guys were patient, helpful and knowledgeable. I had some problems getting the receiver to work with our speaker but the guys were happy to help over the phone. They even emailed a few days later to see if everything was working. Thats pretty impressive. Oh, and the shop itself is a delight - from lovely vintage players on the shelf to the friendly dog. Check them out.
Great experience. Lots of new and used equipment and used records to boot.
Great place filled with the best audio equipment, only bettered by the friendly knowledgeable staff.
Extremely knowledgable and helpful. Brought my vintage turntable and arm in for repairs and couldnt be happier with the thoroughness and quality of the repair as well as the customer service. Absolutely the best!!!
The only reason you shop at high end retailers is for customer service. This place failed miserably. They were only interested in selling me closeout items, didnt listen to what I wanted, gave nothing but pushy sales pitches, and to round it all off, they couldnt get in the speakers I wanted to audition. Ill take my business elsewhere.
Great guys, friendly service. Im 100% in favor of used audio gear, and I feel lucky this Chicago fixture is still around.
I picked up a center channel speaker from them to match my bookshelf speakers and, even though its preowned, it looks brand new and it functions perfectly. Every member of the staff is great to talk with and genuinely wants to help their customers get the best sound quality possible out of their setups. I talked with them for a while about subwoofer integration and speaker placement and Im grateful for their advice. Fantastic group of people, outstanding customer service, and top quality merchandise make Saturday Audio Exchange a must see for anyone who is enthusiastic about accurate music reproduction.
Great staff very friendly and knowledgeable of their goods. You have to stop by I take a look at everything that have
These guys have the stuff you are looking for for if you want to keep up with great audio.Plus its just fun to go try the Grado Headphones.
Terrible customer service, unless you are buying something from them they could care less about responding to you. Reached out weeks ago to try and get a quote on my Wharfedale speakers I bought used from them a few years ago. Still waiting on a response I have emailed twice and called once being reassured that someone would reach out to me. Pretty hard to understand what is so difficult about replying to a email or call.
Awesome store with great people and service. a must go!
Went for audio repairs: Guys did a GREAT JOB!
Everyone was super friendly and passionate about audio. Great gear selection and listening rooms.
Greet staff, very knowledgeable. Good selection of vintage home audio equipment.
Excellent place for all high end audio and extremely knowledgeable staff.
Has over the years provided quality products and knowledge about the vintage products Im interested in
Good place for nice turn tables, they also host a record listening show each Sunday.
This is a great place to find vintage home audio equipment and for repairs. Also offers advice for home theatre.
One of the few places for true audiophiles.
Tons of great gear and great help. They have really stood behind the products I have purchased there when I need warranty work.
Great service as always
These guys are great! I took my turntable here to have a new cartridge installed and they did it on the spot in less than 20 minutes. Even though I bought the cartridge online, they only charged me $30 for the install and alignment! A week later when I had a problem with the Marantz 2270 that I just bought off Craigslist, they told me the repair would most likely be quick and easy, but when it turned out they had to send it with their Marantz guy for 2 weeks, they offered to give me a loner receiver so I would have music to listen to while I wait! Amazing! They are nice guys that will work with your budget and true audio people. They have a passion for what they do and try hard to make their customers happy. I will definitely be back when I need speakers.
I bought my equipment from them - Monitor RS-6 Silver, NAD CD player, Tuner, Amp. Paid about $3700. Bought it in to see what I could get for it and they took it and gave me $536. I was going to do a trade in but when I found out what they were going to give me I lost interest. Then I felt like I couldnt get my equipment back. Andy sent me a check months later for $530-even ;taking the 6 bucks. Rip off! I am so disappointed in Andy and how he treated me I am going elsewhere to buy my equipment. So, he pocketed a few extra hundred off of me and the what he turned around and sold it for (The NAD was 1300 alone). But I am going somewhere else for my next stereo, telling everyone how I was treated. Oh and my brother needs a stereo too. So all the sales you lost but for your greediness and shortsightedness. Shame on you Andy! All women interested in good sound do not go here! They will rip you off!
Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and relaxed, no pressure to buy. Prices on trade ins are very fair.
Great place to buy used equipment, trustworthy staff who are real audiophiles. I bought a (really old) HK receiver, center channel, sub and towers several years ago, and had no idea what to get so had to trust them on the whole system (we were ramping up for a party in our new house, so no time to research). Now that I know a little more about systems it turns out they made good decisions for me about all of the components. They really spent the time to walk me through it. Scoped out what I was using it for, talked about my budget and options to fit within it, and talked to me about my future plans such as whether I would use it later for a home theater, It all worked great until the HK died after several years of very hard use - but it was already used when I bought it and very discounted so I was okay with that (under 100). The Sunfire sub and Focal center channel are both amazing and sound great with my new theater system. The only reason for pulling one star was the repair service. I bought a CD/DVD player, new, and it did not last long. They really could not service it so I had to buy a new one.So bottom line is that its a great place to buy used, but I would find out the warranty details if going with new here.
Provides service, knowledge, and equipment that no other place in town can.
Staff was helpful and friendly!
Very helpful staff
