Sergio is very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly, and Jenny is always warm and welcoming.
It always feels like a chore for them to find someone who can help me when I go in. The woman at the front was unable to assist me and the man that she usually yells to was not there on several occasions. Last time i went in, two very nice customers helped me find what i was looking for. Im only giving 3 stars because its a local business but maybe work on having someone present in the store who knows about products and who acts like its their job to help customers out instead of a favor theyre doing.
Always friendly service and competitive prices. Supporting local businesses is important. Too few stores like this left. They should be appreciated.
Great little hardware store always has what I need for around the apartment and studio.
I’ve been in twice and the woman who works there has not put down the phone to help me. Today I was going to purchase 2 items, but I had a question and asked her for help. She would not stop her conversation on the phone so I put my items on the counter and walked out. This was after waiting at the desk without being acknowledged for at least 2 minutes.
I read the reviews first and went in expecting the guy behind the counter to be a jerk. He definitely took a bit of effort to get chatting but I found his short answers to questions about cutting keys kind of entertaining. Go in with a positive attitude and make and effort to connect and youll be just fine.
My wife and I went to Jays yesterday to pick up a few things for a house were buying. The store itself has a lot of character. Merchandise is jammed in every nook and cranny. This isnt the place for someone who wants a Home Depot experience where everything is neat and clean (and service is terrible). Their selection is limited, but thats part of shopping local. As far as service is concerned, the guy working at the store, Joe, was friendly and very helpful. He offered to order parts that werent in stock and even told us to hold off on purchasing one item until you close on the house. You wont get any of that from a big box retailer. All-in-all it was a positive experience. I plan on going back again once we close.
A block from the Brown line, has a little of everything. Prices okay. Very old-fashioned. Got my kit and parts fine, despite tooling around for an hour as I selected things.
Worst costumer service experience Ive had and it was a simple key copy job. Went there for the price, went back for a refund. Wished I never stepped foot through those doors. Jay needs to run a better operation and update his equipment or he wont stay open for long(hopefully). Then, maybe something better can take the place of that old mom and pop shop. I dont usually write reviews but when I do it usually really good or really bad. This unfortunately was the later.
Excellent service - great window repair and turn around - always helpful with me and my questions
I have NEVER been treated as badly in a store as I was in Jay Hardware. I will NEVER go back in there. The person working (a Chinese man) was extremely rude (a jerk as the other review said). I have contacted TrueValue and will let them know exactly what was done to me in one of their stores.
Good place for a quick and basic stop
I love this store has cheep price and great tools
Worst costumer service, cashier was on her phone she acted like she was doing me a favor
Truly an old fashioned hardware store.
Google says open 8am. Door sign = 10am
The owner is incredibly rude, and on top of that, we went there twice and both times the thing we bought was broken.
Waited 5 min tell cashiersPut book down
Site said open, I get there and its gated up
Watch the prices you are charged as you check out.
The guy was really cheap and rude
Old school Chicago storefront hardware store
