Do you see all the good reviews this place is getting? They are totally deserved. I had such a great experience there. So Im a first time Scooter buyer. Actually, I was a first time scooter rider! I went into Scooterworks after having done a little research and not quite being sure about anything. They were actually out of what I came in to look at, but they took lots of time talking about my options, what the differences were between them and just generally being great. Never once did I feel pressured. In fact, they actually suggested another shop that would have something comparable to the model I was first looking at. I ended up leaving without buying anything, but chewing on a good deal of information. The next day, I went back, as I had decided to get something different. I ended up talking to a different employee who was also amazing. He was incredibly patient and happy to answer all of my questions and give his honest opinion on things. I certainly learned a lot more just from the shopping. When I finally decided on a Scooter, they worked hard to get it prepped so I could drive it out of there that day before an oncoming storm. The mechanic spent a good deal of time going over the operation and how to do some maintenance on it. He was so incredibly helpful.Honestly, theyre just a good bunch of folks. I can count on one hand the amount of times Ive had an experience this good in any store. They were genuine (see what I did there?), helpful, and incredibly competent. I look forward to brining my scooter in for its first service!
I wish I could rate something higher than five stars. This is the place to go, no matter what your need. I have gone to the shop for over 20 years and now have a true understanding of the ownership and management and the value they bestow upon their own business. Im lucky enough now to call some of the people my friends and will not hesitate to give them any and all of my future scooter business. The manager, Ken, is the type of man you dont come across too often. He recently was able to donate multiple scooters to my schools automotive program for students to train on which will become an invaluable experience for both of them and myself. Additionally, his kindness, knowledge, and understanding knows no bounds. If you are in the area, or not, this is the one and only vintage and modern scooter place that you want to do business with.
Ive never enjoyed buying something as much as I did when I purchased my new scooter from these awesome guys. Ken took such good care of us even when they were slammed with guests. He took the time to make sure we were happy with our selection and went over operating and handling the bike once it was ready to go. Theyve made clients for life out of us. Cant recommend them enough.
Scooterworks did a great job repairing my Vespa small frame. They were super nice and informative they also showed me the old parts that were replaced which I appreciated. I am glad that scooter works went back to working on the old bikes. It’s hard to find a place that wants to take them on. Thanks again guys for your great service and your help with keeping the old scooters alive.
Great place to get a scooter! Really helpful.
I ride a 1980 p125x. Recently I decided to go “snout to spout” and give her a thorough going through. I trusted the professionals at Scooterworks Chicago and could not be happier with the results. It’s great to have vintage scooter service back in Chicago. A++
A down home good place to get quality scooter work done and advice. Always appreciative of their service here.
They can take care of all your scooter needs. The staff here have always been so helpful for anything Ive needed from shop work to answering questions. I will always bring my scooter here for maintenance
Disappointed. Called for an appointment was told they did not have any spots for a solid month out. Was told I was put on a list and would be called or emailed mid June about appointment. When I followed up after receiving no communication they then told me I had missed my appointment and that they are all booked up for another two months.
100% satisfied with the service the employees all around thats a good business
Great service and fast deliveries from half way across the country if you have any questions they can answer and direct you to the right product that you should be using. Dont hesitate to purchase all you scooter needs from scooterworks usa
The level of knowledge and service was phenomenal, would 100% recommend!
By far the best experience Ive had with a mechanic shop. The mechanics are super honest and helpful guys, and you can tell that theyre really passionate about the work they do. Ill definitely be a loyal customer for as long as I have a scooter.
Scooterworks is the most wonderful place. I bought my scooter from them 8 years ago and I have gone to them for every single thing since then that I have needed. They have pulled through and exceeded my expectations every time, from the multiple times it’s gotten knocked over, fixing a terrible pothole damage that I thought was going to total the bike, and every oil change and tune up.In addition, my scooter was stolen last summer (2020). I was devastated because of the obvious circumstances, somehow found the scooter myself, and got it towed to scooterworks. They started working on it immediately and were able to find my parts and fix it up in the most cost efficient and high quality manner. Then they were so happy for me to call me back up and tell me it was finished. I was so unbelievably happy when I came to pick it up and it was good as new. They are so kind and informative and always are patient with questions. Since I have been going here for 8 years, I’ve seen some different employees and I have felt this way about every one of them. This is a long, long overdue review. I rave about scooterworks to everyone and will continue to do so. THANK YOU SCOOTERWORKS!
Awesome place and awesome people! Meridee taught my wife how to ride before we purchased. She went above and beyond with her instruction. The showroom is spectacular with so many options to choose from.We left with a Buddy 50cc and will be going back next month to purchase a second. I couldnt recommend this place enough.
These guys are pretty good at selling scooters at the right prices and then charging crazy prices for maintenance and repair. They know that they are the only scooter place in the area so anyone who buys from them will have to keep coming back. So basically, they can charge any price they feel like while professionally having the knowledge that you are stuck with them! Enjoy your scooter purchase... at your own risk.
Almost always accommodating. Friendly staff
Brought my 50cc scooter in for a tune up and was told they would call when it was ready, probably by the weekend (3 days away) and then never heard from them for 1 1/2 weeks. Meanwhile, it’s my only form of transportation to the hospital I work at, and had to spend over $150 on transportation to and from during the time the scooter was gone. When I finally called to check in, they let me know that they completely forgot to call me and the scooter had been sitting ready to go. I was clearly frustrated when picking up the scooter, and they acted as if they could care less and didn’t compensate for any money I lost due to their own mistake. I haven’t had great experiences with their service department in the past, but this is a new low. I will never be using this business again.
I brought my Stella in for new tires and an oil change. I discovered an issue with the repair shortly after picking up my bike. I brought it back in and they immediately made sure they fixed everything to my standards. The owner genuinely cared about the issue and made sure it was right. Will return for future service.
The people are great!
Great service at fair prices. David at the service desk is very kind and helpful. They always seem to have parts in stock. Genuine Scooters are the best and this dealer has plenty of new and used models. Great business
Service department is wonderful they are so helpful and know what their doing
Great customer service.
Very helpful and easy to work with both over the phone and in person. They have a really easy text feature which is really nice as well. I went in for a tune up on my Vespa and they had me in and out in about 1.5 hours. They also took care of me as a walk in which was greatly appreciated. I would recommend their services to others.**updated 11/19/2020The shop guys are also great. I called in and asked some questions and I never felt like I was pressured into coming in... they honestly want to help. The follow up call I had today solidified my loyalty to Scooter works.
The staff at Scooterworks is very friendly and really helpful. I went on a Saturday and the place was very busy. I had some questions and was looking at different scooters. They moved stuff around for me to check out each scooter and even test drive both of them. Even with them being swamped with people they never made me feel like I was being a bother, and made sure my needs were being met. Never once did I feel pressure to make a decision on buying, they were really relaxed and wanted me to make sure I made a decision that best suited my needs. I really enjoyed my first time buying experience at Scooterworks and will be back for service in the future.
Helpful folks, always.
I love this place! Awesome scooters. Nice staff. Good prices. Bought a Genuine Stella from them and it has been a blast. They are passionate about scooters and are super helpful! Would definitely recommend them!
Very nice people working and nice manager. They were very quick and got the work done with little to no notice. Very satisfied with everything. I highly recommend them for service. They had a very large selection of new scooters for sale as well. Prices were very reasonable.
Great experience buying my first motorcycle (g400c) with Josh at Scooterworks! He was super helpful, answered all of my questions, and very patient. He let me take the bike for a spin and the rest is history! They even offered to store it until spring! Highly recommend getting a bike at Scooterworks!
Highly recommend Scooterworks. Kevin was incredibly patient, helpful, and encouraging. Perks of getting scooter through Scooterworks: they do the licensing and registration, ~free winter storage~, test drives (be sure to wear shoes, not sandals), the Geniune Buddy comes with a 2 year warranty, roadside assistance. Everything was setup easily and smoothly. They also do financing. If you have doubts, you can put down a deposit on the bike and then come pick up within a week. I really appreciate Kevin and please ask for him if you go in!
Great selection! excellent costumer service.
Simply the most convenient and straight forward service ever. Rode in my Vespa Sprint and they started the service on the spot. One hr later (and a jigsaw puzzle game in the guest lounge) I was outta there with a smile on my face. Josh even let me clean the bike after a hard Chicago winters build up. Friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Recently made my first ever scooter purchase. I was a bit hesitant because I’m not an experienced scooter driver but Kevin was super helpful and walked me thru a test drive so I could get more comfortable. Kevin recommended exactly what I was looking for and I didn’t have to think twice about making a purchase. Highly recommend Scooterworks!
I purchased my Genuine Buddy and my partner also bought one here 4 years ago and had it serviced regularly. About a year ago I started having issues with my Buddy dying at a stop. Every time I’d stop, the engine would die. I took it in for a tuneup and that didn’t fix the issue. I took it back and asked them to fix the issue. They always seemed confused and unsure of what to do. The manager of the service department told me that I had too many miles on the bike (15,000 at that point) and would need an engine rebuild.Somehow that didn’t sound quite right. I disputed his suggestion and in return he asked me if I knew anything about engines! I can’t say that I know a lot, but having to rebuild the engine at 15,000 miles doesn’t sound like a very reliable vehicle if that’s what I will have to do every 15,000 miles.I left and continued to drive holding the break with one hand and throttle in the other for months.I took the bike to Second City Scooters and got an oil change and complained about the engine dying every time I stopped. Vince suggested a tuneup. I came back for a tuneup and as I’m going to get a coffee, he calls and said that I am in need of a valve adjustment. He does the valve adjustment and voila! No more dying at a stop. I since have traded the bike in for a much bigger bike and I didn’t trade it in at Scooterworks! If that’s how they treat their customers, I’m not going to be one of theirs. No thank you!
Amazing service. Fast reliable and kind. They remember customers too and know what we need. Highly recommended.
Great customer service. Will always be coming back for any repairs I may need. Awesome place!
I gave 3 stars for now. My husband and u looking to upgrade. Im a newbie. So far my husband and I like the prices of their mopeds. We always catch store when its closed. I go by feeling so for some reason I feel this is the place where we are gonna get our Mopeds. The used ones outside looking good. So we will be coming in to check them out 😁😊😊
Scooterworks seems to have turned over a new leaf under their new manager Josh.Josh quoted me the highest price before I went in with the explicit note that he wanted to give me a worst case scenario before I brought it in. Although he could have gone the easy/more profitable option of just ordering a new wheel, Josh actually was able to fix my original wheel for a fraction of the cost. Josh and the team at Scooterworks fixed my wheel, did a tune up for Spring and came in lower than the original quoted price. Josh even went above and beyond by letting me keep my scooter there a bit longer than expected without charging me the “storage fee” that others seemed to find creative ways to hit me with (ie come pick up your scooter at 3 on a Tuesday to avoid a fee). All that being said, Josh and the team genuinely seem to care about being the friendly neighborhood scoot shop they were meant to be. They have converted me, a long time skeptic, by being service-oriented, honest and focusing on the customer.
Repair/Service prices are very high, techinician has attitude, since they are the only one in the area. They lowered the throttle after fixing ignition, and it was causing my scooter to shut off, so I can take it back and they can charge me to fix it. It took me almost a month to find that screw to fix the problem myself, also, they returned my scooter very dusty, and dirty, screw caps on the handle bars were missing, they are careless, lazy and full of mistakes.
My experience: I needed a part for my Xiaomi scooter and texted a pic of it over to these guys to see if they had it. Quick response, they dont carry Xiaomi; they dont have the part. To respond so quickly when you dont have something was surprising itself, but that was followed with a link to another business that carries the part along with a note, We dont have it, but I found this for you. I got the message loud and clear: these guys are about customer service. They care. I wont hesitate to go to them first from now on.
These guys are the best! Kevin will go out of his way to be helpful. Support this local business. They have all of your scooter needs!
Love this place. Very friendly, helpful staff & have all the parts & accessories needed.
Great staff no matter how many times ive been up there. They are always smiles and a nice greeting...From door to floor ...
It’s almost impossible to get your scooter/moped in the shop and get it back in timely manner. They are always super busy! It might be worth hiring more technicians. They have great selection of scooters/mopeds
Great service maintenance here. Theyre always very attentive to my needs and do whatever they can to get parts on my Kymco 250cc when it needs them, on top of quick and efficient service. I recommend this company to any scooter rider!
Compare actual repairs to your receipt! Took my scooter here for an insurance claim. Extremely poor communication throughout. They never contacted me to start the service even though it was almost a $2000 estimate. I called in weekly for updates since I never heard from them even after they told me theyd call back. Every time I asked how long it would take they said something different/never contacted me after estimated time. Finally got it back today after over a month and there were parts that were never replaced but was still on the bill valued around $300. Not happy about them trying to charge me for work that wasnt completed and they seemed unaware of. Wont come back for repairs.
Nathan is Amazing,Great customer service and speaks fluent Scooter. A+
Used to get my Honda elite 250 serviced here and they did a great job previously. Got a flat last week and brought my scooter here to get it replaced and also prepped for the season. They decided nothing needed to be done and I drove home with just a new rear tire. During my ride home I noticed the scooter rode different and I smelled gasoline and later realized I had a major leak. Eager to get fixed and ride again I called to see if they could take a look at it, but the technician was just very defensive about it. They also informed me after calling them that they will not service my bike anymore since it is vintage.
Scooter selection is extensive, though their helmet offerings are slim. Staff has been very patient and accommodating everytime I have been there.
Great experience, great variety of inventory, great service and great price. If you are buying a scooter dont go to a motorcycle place that has a handful of scooters. This place is an actual scooter dealer. Meridee was great.
Awesome service, fantastic selection, any and all accessories for your scooter, what more could you ask for? Apart from that, they are generous enough to offer group rides, lunch and bbqs as well as helping out with local charitable organizations. This place really is the total package and for any scooter inquiries, this is the first place that I recommend checking out.A++++++++++++++++++++++++
Took care of me fast did not add more time or money to what i was getting worked on, which is by far the most important factor when finding a dealer/mechanic.
LOVE this place. Largest scooter place in Chicago. Staff is super helpful.
Wanted to post my thanks to Perry at Scooterworks for an awesome job of shipping my order super fast and at an economical rate. Been a customer of Scooterworks for a few years and it is always a pleasure doing business with them!
I was at 5 stars but reduced to two as they no longer work on old Vespas, even though my 2007 had been getting serviced there for years and I believe even bought from them by original owner. Went in for change of headlight and was turned away. They wont even touch it now.
Loved the scooters and the sale staff. Made me feel calm trying decide what was right for me!
Great experience. Good knowledge and friendly.
Bought my 4th scooter from this place last month. Taking it in today for the first scheduled service appointment. Very stoked. Always friendly, sometimes scattered, but always helpful. Keep it up
Sales people are great. Service department not so much. Needs customer service training in the service area. Clarify with them before making an appointment or waiting for your service to be complete.
Good service and good prices. Cant wait to turn my old scooter in and get a new one.
Service was great and the information I need was well needed and given. Thank you.
I stopped by Scooterworks in the late summer to check out a new (or gently used) scooter for myself. They seemed really nice on the phone when asking about the basics of picking out a scooter when other shops didnt seem as interested in my newbie questions.Long story short, my Uber ride there was only one-way. They showed me their stock of new and used scooters and happily let me test ride my favorites. I picked out a used scooter in like-new condition for probably the same I would have paid on Craigslist from a stranger. The service was great, and they even helped me out with a registration issue (original owners fault, not the shops). When the weather is decent, my commute is quicker, more efficient, and much more fun thanks to my scooter. When I was new to scooters, I was certain that Craigslist or new Chinese scoots were the most economical way to go. I was completely wrong, check this place out and buy a legit scooter at a great price!
Great staff, Bernard was super helpful and took the time to look over my scooter when I dropped in this morning. Everyone is super friendly and the scooter selection and inventory cant be beat!
Ive been going there almost two years people are very courteous the prices are very low
I love this place. Great service.great staffs.and great prices
Best shooter shop in Chicago
My Bella Scootsi (50cc scooter) was purchased here. I also store her here for the winter. The price for their winter storage is decent. They also host periodic group rides which I have yet to participate in.
Great place, even better service! Highly recommended.
Really helpful staff, huge variety of scooters. The accessories are unique here too, they support all businesses that manufacture custom accessories for genuine scooters.
I was recently in the market for a scooter, and I spent a couple of months looking at both new and used scooters. I would highly recommend, and I cant stress this enough, only buying a scooter from a brick and mortar store like Scooterworks rather than online. Usually, Im a bargain hunter, and I would go for a high quality used scooter that I found on Craigslist or OfferUp. But theres something very strange about the market place for used scooters. First, 90% of the used scooters online were being sold without the title. Okay dude that means you stole it and no Im not that stupid. When pressed about not having the title, every single seller said Oh I cant find it. Well youre selling stuff online so Im assuming you can use Google Maps. Can you find the DMV? Theyll give you a new one and thats how you legitimately sell a vehicle, liar.Second, almost none of the scooters available had more than a thousand miles on them. That sounds good at first but, what is wrong with the scooters that none of them get more than a thousand miles on them before the owners sell them? And why are nearly all of them broken in some way, not from being crashed but from having maintenance issues? Shouldnt there be at least some scooters where the owner drove 5000 miles and then decided to sell it? It makes me skeptical of the quality of all scooters quite frankly. Even Scooterworks had very few used ones, but they did have a great selection of brand new, beautiful, inviting scooters that will make you want to buy one. And I thought they were pretty friendly too.Avoid buying a new scooter online at all costs. If you spend any time reading the reviews, you will find that nearly all of them come unassembled. What? You want me to drive a vehicle on the road but first use an allen wrench to put it together? Seriously? No. Can you imagine if your car came in pieces, with a handy allen wrench to put it together? Scooterworks will sell you a scooter that is already put together and ready to drive, and I cant believe I even have to say that.
Great selection of scooter parts! Ryan was very helpful! Thank you
**UPDATE** 9/20/18I wanted to give more stars but there were a few problems. When I first rode my scooter something didnt seem right so I stopped and checked and the airbox wasnt connect to the carburetor. The little piece that holds the airbox tight to the carb was also missing. Once I connected the airbox properly, my scooter rode perfectly fine.**UPDATE **A gasket for the gas tank is missing and theres a few parts missing that connect the gas tank to the frame. A hose that was on the carb is also missing. My scooter also used to do 42 top speed and now its only hitting 38. I dont know what happened but Im bummed out.9/20/18I know what my scooter had. My friend who is a scooter/car mechanic worked on it previously and Ive seen everythings hes done to my scooter. I came here because he was out of town but shouldve waited for him.The year of my scooter has nothing to do with this situation. It was running fine before I, myself, lost the piece to the carburetor. Had the hose to the carburetor, had the little metal peice that keeps the carb tight to the cylinder and I had a gasket on the tank that had 1 bolt inside the gasket. The guy that got my scooter running when I got there saw me stop right in front of the shop because I noticed the carb wasnt even connected. I wouldnt come here and pay $160 just to complain and say Im missing peices. I came because I saw decent reviews and was hoping for a good experience but I that was not the case. Im giving a review of my experience. Not publicly shame anyone. No need to stop by and solve this, I already bought all new parts for completely new build on my zuma from Scooterswapshop.Hope this doesnt happen to anyone in the future. Have a nice day.
Said no over the phone to working on a bike I know they could fix.
In general I dont bother taking too take the time too thank a retailer. This time I realy must, with a telephone number too call and a direct answer not a machine when called these folks iam am extremely please in the product a replacement carburator, sent out very quickly and they didnt skip on the postal either. Four days from them too me in ct. And iam in a no cell, no data, small town with a hokey town postoffice. Realy couldnt ask for better service . Will be ordering as many future parts from them as needed and or they carry. Thanks Mark.
Super nice guys and their work is EXCELLENT..
Everybody there was awesome and so helpful they made buying my first scooter a great experience
If only zero stars were a possibility. This used to be a good place where I would have my vespa fixed. I brought my vespa in to get fixed around may of 2017 and I noticed something was off when they absolutely refused and were offended to give a receipt. They also have this very strange and strict rule where THEY WILL THROW YOUR VESPA AWAY WITH ONLY A TWO DAY NOTICE AFTER THEY FINISH REPAIRING IT. They can take months to finish repairing it so I even joked that even before I call my family to tell them Im leaving on vacation, Ill call these idiots. Luckily this didnt happen. I called about every month where they would make up one fault in the vespa after the other. six months in I find out they had been LYING the whole time about working to fix the vespa and hadnt lifted a finger. A year later and Ive now taken my vespa back since THEY HAVE ADMITTED THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX an old vespa. maybe the five star ratings are from the employees
Best people ever!!! always willing to help and really know their stuff!!
The guys at the service counter are as helpful as the sales people. Try to find a car dealership like that.
Lack of professionalism is laughable. Tried to place a parts order, first guy sounded new and was incompetent. Manager never called back after multiple messages. Last “sales” person I spoke to acted as if I were bothering him with my business. I’ll be doing everything I can to avoid dealing with this place.
On two occasions I asked about the appropriate jetting needed for the installation of a NCY cylinder and Malossi carb. Both times I was misinformed after asking twice if there were
Friendly honest staff.
Good. For some stuff. Staff in service is inconsistent.
Awesome customer service. Wish they were a Vespa dealer.
Ok selection, standard pricing but was in there for about 1 full hour, sitting on bikes, looking closely at options, trying to decipher things and not once did anyone come to ask me if I had any questions. I left.
Great service honest people
Cool scooters and good service
Issues was resolved.
