Ive been doing business with Gates Resale since the late 70s, and for good reason - local store, local employees, jobs for students, etc. ...But mostly because they have great customer service and they stock what Im shopping for. I bought a pair of boots from them and after a month or so a place hook fell off. I took them back and they told me to get them repaired and they would pay for it. They didnt manufacture the boots but they valued my business. Now *thats customer service!*I highly recommend Gates Resale for work wear, Carhartt, Kleen Kanteen, camping gear, pawnshop items and more.

Mostly uniforms and heavy weight work mans gear. Small selection of gold panning equipment. Great place to buy bulk canvas by the yard; many heavyweight, durable selections.

Ive loved this place since I was a kid. However now days its not the same. I asked if I could change some rain gear I bought to a bigger size and instead there response was we cant take those back there used. And there exact words where how are we supposed to resell them, come on man. I bought them the day before. And to top that off they tried to tell me that no store would expect a return on rain gear after being worn once. Every year I buy rain gear for my guys and I, for my company from Gates. But will be taking my business else where, were there main concern is the customer. Not Gates, where the the most important thing is, a sale.

Ive been shopping here for decades. There are a lot of items here that have really good prices. You can get used items here like a used chainsaw! Those things are better broken in anyways. They have a decent selection of clothing usually have warm weather gear at great prices. I really like this place. The owner is a great guy and the employees are students and great folks as well. Warm socks and back packs!

Been a customer here since I was a kid. From Army Surplus to second hand tools, to a great Carrhardt selection you are bound to find something you need. They have a great selection of Camp cookware, and many types of cordage and webbing available by the foot.

Great selection but a little pricey! You can catch some merchandise on good sales though!

Very poorly stocked products and over-priced. If you need something related with the actual functioning army or other military branches, just buy those from Amazon.

Best prices on Chicos own Klean Kanteens, I buy many each year for gifts & Gates always has an awesome selection & again, best price in Chico! Plus I get all my Hubbys work pants there, a real good selection of Carhardt! And always friendly & helpful staff!!
