SO RUDE!!! NEVER GOING BACK!! A friend and I went to go look at some fidget toys or maybe some gifts for family - when we went in an older blonde lady instantly questioned why we were there and what we wanted. She then followed us around the ENTIRE store the ENTIRE time. She pointed out my friends jacket pockets and my backpack- and commented on everything we picked up or looked at. We left with some slime and costume wings- we came to return them 2 days later because both of us were unsatisfied. The SAME lady asked for our full names and numbers and refused to help us return the items insisting we stole them - even though we had the receipts! Horrible. I am never going back because of how unnecessarily rude they were!!!!!

I took my 3 year old grandson here yesterday to shop for a new toy. I told him what a great place it was and how he was going to love it. We show up at the door only to be met with a sign saying you must wear a mask even if you are vaxed. Then a lady quickly ran at us with her arms up telling us the same. I explained I have a medical condition and do not wear masks. She asked me for my exemption info and I informed her it was not legal for her to ask under HIPPA. She went and talked to manager and it was decided we could proceed. We were in the car/truck toy section for a while and the lady stalked us no less than ten times. Not sure if she was just wanting us to leave or thought I was going to shoplift.My grandson picked a couple of toys and I paid $58. We walked out and my grandson, who is 3 years old said “Grammy, I don’t like that store”. Talk about tension in the air. The only reason I proceeded to shop was because I had promised him, otherwise I would have never entered. I will never enter this store again!Side note: the world will soon find out about the Truth about COVID, masks and the jab.

I’ve been in Chico since the 70s and I’ve bought lots of merchandise from this store but last time I was in I got bugged about not wearing a mask probably the only place in Chico that’s mandating it. We all know that masks rarely work and I’m very offended that I was asked to put one on vaccinated or not. I will not be buying anything in the store again until they change their policy.

We ordered a YoYo online and had it shipped overseas. The shipment was a bit on an adventure and I am more than pleased with how Thad handled all our questions and requests. Long story short: It arrived, my son is playing YoYo next to me now and we are happy and can certainly recommend Bird in Hand and Thad. Thanks for your help!

Its difficult to social distance in this store because they have so much great stuff but they require masks and have the doors open for ventilation and hands sanitizing stations. Very responsible and I appreciate their efforts. Its a great store to find gifts for just about everyone.

Bird in Hand is the best toy store in Chico, hands down. Not everyone knows that it’s also a yo-yo museum and they teach lessons and such. My five kids can spend hours in there looking at all the unique toys and gifts. There are plenty of items for adults, too! My favorite aspect is the cool and unusual on display. For just about every Christmas and birthday, something from Bird in Hand finds its way into our children’s hands. And sometimes into my wife’s hands or mine! 😉

What a wonderful store. They have items from way back when to current times. The employees were so extremely helpful and gracious and they make you feel very welcomed to be in their store. I was even thanked for using the hand sanitizer on entering the shop.This is a store where you can spend time browsing and seeing all sorts of interesting and different items!!A must stop and browse shop on Broadway!

Great store for unique, high quality kids toys and other gifts. This place has been in downtown forever and always offers a fun browsing and shopping experience. My husband and I were especially impressed with their toy dinosaur collection, not to mention their extensive yo yo museum! Always worth a visit! Great friendly staff as well.

Great gift shop with tons to choose from. A lot of unique and specialty items, bit on pricey side but for a special gift well worth it. Parking not too great but during off peak hours its not bad.

Before moving here, this was my first experience in Chico. I Love this store!! Everything from fun baby stuff, to Holly Yashi jewelry, to wind chimes, to puzzles! The staff is so friendly and helpful. Also, its dog friendly. What more could you want in a store!!

I love the place. I live in Redding California I go there to buy YoYos, and every YoYo I get from there works great. I was just window shopping this time though. I highly recommend it for people who like all kinds of hobbies. Going back next month to buy some more YoYos.

This store had me laughing the whole time I shopped. Hilarious and unique gifts, and a great game selection with all the hottest games (they even have Oddassity!). And silly figurines, where else could you find an elf skewed on a unicorn?!

Bird in Hand has something for everyone. From home decor, toys and games, puzzles, collectables, lotions, books and a great selection of wind chimes to clothing for him or her. We stop in as often as we can to say hello to Bob (the owner) and his friendly staff. If you have​ yet to visit Bird in Hand do so next time youre in downtown Chico. Youll be pleasantly surprised!

This is the best little store in Chico! This is a toy store meets gift shop with good quality wooden toys, a nice selection of board games, and a huge Ravensburger corner with puzzles stacked to the ceiling. Hand puppets and plush toys are there for little ones, plus baby blankets and baby clothing for the VERY little. They sell some neat eco-friendly dishes/drinking containers for kids lunchtime. For adults they have metal brain teasers--really nice ones, and their board game section is robust: childrens games, party games, and hobby games like Photosynthesis. The people are impressive: the staff are friendly and willing to demonstrate the products, and the day I was there they had a live demonstration of a new board game. Basically you can walk into this store and find a neat gift for anybody you know.

One of those cool local stores that has toys and gifts you cant just find anywhere. Always stop in when in Chico. Plus it has the Yo-Yo Hall of Fame in the back of the shop.Parking downtown can be a pain, so if you see a spot grab it.

Awesome YoYo Museum, knowledgeable staff. Very helpful and friendly staff. There is a section for every member of the family. Amazing, unique clothing line. A bit pricey but it would sure have the wow affect. We just happen to be there when the US YoYo champs were there visiting and they kindly did some incredible tricks with a stringless yoyo. My grandsons eyes couldnt have been any wider! He told the guy, Im your new biggest fan. We will definitely be back for the free yoyo lessons on Saturday 12-2.
