This is an amazing little coffee shop. The atmosphere is so warm and friendly, the staff do such a wonderful job!! There isnt much for breakfast, if you are going here specifically for that, but they do have some yummy breakfast items, like pastries, bagels, bagel breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, and some other sweets. The drinks are very good, although I havent had many, as I unfortunately stick with my favorites! They do have a stamp card program, which is nice, and I use that often. There is indoor and outdoor seating, which either is nice, depending on the morning, as the area is relatively quiet. There is also wifi, and I think theres also charging stations as well, but Im not quite sure.

The message below is what the boss wrote me after I reviewed the employees customer service, claiming she knows me when I’ve only been in there a couple times. What an unprofessional owner. Instead of being civil and resolving the situation, she passes judgment on me instead, implying my lack of happiness. A professional leader would have assessed the situation and come up with a resolution. And I do agree that several of the employees are sweet, with the exception of a couple of them. The point I was trying to make was that they don’t listen, so you have to repeat your order several times. Instead of taking responsibility for some of your employees lack of attentiveness, you pass judgment on me to make yourself feel better. Only unhappy people tell others they’re unhappy. Very unprofessional. Smh.

Absolutely delicious breakfast sandwiches and drinks, and the friendliest staff in Chico! Very relaxing environment for both work/studying or to just to grab a cup off coffee with a friend =)

I love this place! Everytime I go Im always greeted with the warmest of greetings. I always serve me the best coffee even if the new girls dont know what theyre doing they still make it great and they make it with love. I really love their hospitality and how its a family environment:-)

I like the friendly staff here and their mochas are great,as well as their blended drinks!! Whenever I am in that part of town,I make sure I go there!!

I dont typically order sugary coffee drinks, but when I saw that they had a peanut butter cup blended coffee I had to get it. Feeling my heart wanting to burst out of my chest and stuck on the toilet that morning was worth the drink. 10/10 would buy again.

Friendly staff. Nice assortment of bakery goods. The burritos are pretty small but the bagel sandwiches are packed! Coffee is good and nice variety of non-coffee drinks too. Couple of large tables are here which is nice if you come with a group.

Solid coffee lounge, good coffee and plenty of chill. If I was still a student, I would go here to study.

This review was initially lower because of a smoothie I got that was not very good. But they replied that it was made by someone new who seems to have gotten the recipe wrong, so they refunded my money, and Im sure that person will make them perfectly from now on. Will have to find a chance to come in and try another one some time, and hopefully it will be deserving of a fifth star.

I went in today, November 1, 2020 at 10:30 am. A young man was near the door behind the counter as I entered the coffee shop. I used the door on the Esplanade side. The young man never looked up. He was as close to the door as he could get. I think he would have seen me enter, he would’ve seen the door open. However he did not acknowledge me, he did not speak or look up from what he was doing. I walked in and stood in front of the pastry case looking at the pastries trying to decide what I would like to order. The young man never came over to the pastry counter to ask if he could help me, or was there something I needed. He completely ignored me. After a few seconds maybe a minute or two of standing there I left the coffee shop.I’m sure owners would like to kno this

The coffee is decent enough considering that it doesnt compete with other coffee shops in this part of town. However, their defiance of public health recommendations tells you all you need to know about how they dont respect the safety of their customers and community. I wont be returning. Chico has a number of higher quality coffee shops that DO care about the law and public health.

Stopping here for coffee was terrifying. They don’t believe in masks, and have a really vocal sign on the door. I was too scared to buy a coffee from the unmasked barista, who wiped her forehead with her hand as I was walking up. There are great alternatives for coffee in Chico. Sorry, Grateful Bean- I would be grateful if you took the health code seriously, for all of us.

Use to be Its a Grind but they disenfranchised to become the now Grateful Bean. The worst part is probably the name.Other than that, the coffee is excellent, staff is friendly, nice stamp card system, several seasonal drinks, awesome mugs and blends for sale, food is good and the price isnt bad. Favorite coffee stop in town for an amazing selection of sweet and bitter coffee drinks. For black coffee drinkers, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. Local owners are very nice and the place is very spacious with good seating. Massive table in the back corner if you want to have a regular meeting with a group; its designed for that. The playing cards available in the couch sitting is just an additional touch to make me really enjoy this place. Theyll also although almost an customization of drinks for no extra charge. Have great hours as well.While some coffee shops having a better atmosphere by capturing that local rustic appearance, The Grateful Bean is a home-run on everything.AND THE COFFEE TASTES GREAT.

Really slacked off in quality since the pandemic. Used to go there a couple of times a week. Now its not worth the money.

I love the people, I love the drinks. Everyone in the place, from employee to customer, seems to be in a good mood. Iced Americano, sometimes normal, sometimes with an extra shot, sometimes hot when I forget to say iced. Sometimes I get a breakfast burrito (first, because its one of the greatest foods in the world... second, because both versions they offer are absolutely delicious!). Regardless of the whys and whats, the place has a close knit feel when you walk in. It is inviting in both atmosphere and service. Grab a drink and go, or choose a couch, a bench, a chair, or a stool and stay a moment. This is a place for me.Also, and again, the breakfast burritos.... 😍😍😍

I’m a regular here, and I absolutely love the staff. They always go above and beyond. There have been several times over the years where I’ve had a rough morning, and they always manage to make me smile. I appreciate all the time they take to not only greet me, and ask me about my day, but they also remember my order down to the last detail. Welcoming, fast, and excellent quality. The breakfast looks delicious. I only tried the veggie breakfast burrito, but I did not care too much for the tortilla that was used. My tortilla was pretty soggy but the eggs and veggies were pretty good. My son liked the burrito filling too.

I really enjoy this coffee shop. This time around it was awesome. Went with my husband and two grandchildren as we had some time to kill before an appt. They had the study table all set up with markets and poster board so that people could make signs for first responders as well as victims of the Camp fire. My grandchildren were grateful that they could express their thanks and give encouragement to those who list so much.

Wonderful service on a not busy afternoon. They were super nice to my 6 year old and his hot cocoa was delicious according to him. My watermelon iced red bull was also perfectly mixed and the ice they use is the small nugget ice. My favorite!

I really like to have this place around, but the price of the burrito is a bit steep on account of it being microwaved and super tiny. Every time they bring me one, its scolding hot. The coffee is nice. They can make a good cappuccino.

The fiancee and I tried The Greatful Bean for the first time about a month ago and weve been back four times since. She loves their iced white mocha. Every drink she has ordered has been consistently perfect and thats hard to find around Chico. Nitro cold brew is the sexy new kid and they dont offer it. However, The Greatful Beans cold brew coffee is the best Ive had. Its so good that I could care less about the gimmick of nitro served elsewhere. We are big fans!

When they stopped being Its a Grind, I was a bit worried that I wouldnt like them as much. However, the transition between was so smooth and I got the same friendliness of the employees. I will have to try more drinks because I have only gone a few times since the switch, but A+ on my end.

They have super delicious coffee drinks and good snacks and stuff to eat too. Usually really nice employees and great service! I really like this place. The only thing they dont have is a drive through so not always the most convenient, but that actually kindof adds to the ambiance too. Its a nice place to meet and sit down and enjoy a drink and food. I noticed a lot of people come here to use the wifi and study too.

This place has about if not the best sumatra and ethiopian coffee. Really nice staff, good atmoshere, great logo to remind us to be grateful, and heavy cream at the counter for self additives. Some really great coffee and different styles than your regular coffee house. They have short wait times and the coffee is delicious! Definitely worth the time to check out.

Great cold brew coffee and staff is super friendly. I usually study here on the weekends. When it gets busy food wait time can be a little long but its not the staff moving slow there are just alot of customers coming in all at once.

Cappuccino is wonderful there you have great service open atmosphere and its right before you get on the freeway at Eaton and Esplanade in Chico California then get right back on the 99 North and South
