I went here one time because I was in the downtown area and wanted to see if there was anything good here, I bought a box of modern horizons, when I purchased the box he put it directly in a bag then handed it to me, I then went home and went to open the box and noticed that there was no wizards of the coast logo on wrapping. I went back to the shop and he told me that they dont always put that stamp on, which is a lie, and would not refund my money or even exchange the box. Will not ever return here, go somewhere else where they arent tampering with products.

I cant wait to go spend some money here....even though some of the stuff is over priced it is still a cool little spot.

I normally dont post in here for anything,, but I had to say, Trent gets a hard time from a lot of customers, but every time Ive been in there, hes been nothing but helpful. Its a business, and sometimes things get... busy, while he had to step away a few times while helping me get setup for some d&d stuff, he came back as soon as possible, and answered every question I had. Really one of the best nerd stores around.

Staff is friendly. Prices are a bit higher then other small private owned shops Ive been to. Manga & Funko pop section is lacking.

What a great place! My inner child woke up and I had a blast seeing all the comics, games, figures... The staff was also friendly and the decoration is super too.

Helpful staff cool place . The man who helped me really knew what he was talking about. Not cheap though. I could have saved money and just ordered the stuff on line. But having some one explain the products in person and go over some tips and tricks was worth the extra dough.

Awesome game/collectable/comic store in downtown Chico. We had a good time looking through everything and the staff was friendly and knew their stuff. Looking forward to going back.

Went in as a family to get my eldest some cards for his birthday. Apparently the owner told my youngest son not to look at a pack of opened cards, then went on to scold my eldest about how it was the second time he told him not to look. I approached him and asked if he was sure he spoke to my eldest. He said, well he was next to him(which he was not) anyhow 👎👎 for bat comics.

I just started getting into painting miniatures, I love the selection of paints they have although it would be awesome if they kept up with keeping colors in stock, half the ones I needed were out ( and what was available looked to only be about 1/4th of their stock) and I was told it would be two weeks until they get more.Also I was a little put off by being told to leave the store for half an hour while the clerk took their break, perhaps they need to make sure two people are on staff long enough to at least cover breaks. Thought about not going back after the half hour time out, but I had already picked out most my colors and wasnt sure where else in town might carry the brand.Other than that, I love the selections of games and the staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable. I will be going back seeing as I live in Paradise and its the best place nearby to get what I am looking for.

Dropped by to buy individual cards, was shown binder full, but I accidentally walked in right at closing. Told the clerk Id just come back the next day and buy them. Came back and was told by another employee that they dont do sell individual cards anymore. Mentioned the binder of individuals for sale that was shown to me the previous day. Nope, sorry we dont do that anymore... oh well, guess Ill never have to worry about wasting my time or buying from here again.

I love this place. I discovered it a number of years ago when my family moved into the area, and I was delighted to finally have a place that I could get comics at. The staff is always very friendly, and I have never had a bad experience there.They keep comics on hold now if you ask, which means I dont have to worry about getting in every week for latest issues of what I get. Living up in Magalia, meaning its about a forty minute drive to Chico, so going down every week can be a hassle. Thankfully, I dont have to worry!The only small downside I would say is their website, which I feel isnt the best set up, but thats a very minor concern, as the store itself is wonderful.

Ower referred me to a website to buy his individual cards. The owner took a phone call while I was still asking questions. The owner put the customer on the phone on hold and told me he had to take care of the customer on the phone. Blew me off. So I left the store.

So disappointed by this store owners actions. All my son really wanted for his birthday today were some Yu-Gi-Oh cards, so we took him to Bat Comics. As I perused, I overheard Trent saying I told you twice not to look at the cards in the sleeve, so Im going to have to ask you to leave. My husband called him out on the fact that it was actually our other son he had told the first time and the owner realizing his mistake but not wanting to admit to it, stuck to his guns and said, well, you were next to him when I said it, so Im going to have to ask you to leave. So sad, seeing a little boy kicked out unfairly on his birthday.

Owner Trent is extremely rude, and spoke directly To my three-year-old as though he were an idiot for trying out a toy.My main reason for going to the shop is magic the gathering supplies, But I have found that the prices are the same that you could get at any grocery store, and the selection is no better.I will never set foot in this store again Trent, and you have yourself to thank for that.

This place was recommended to me by my DM to come stock up on my supplies. While they didnt have everything I was looking for they did give me the restock days for paints, decks, and dice sets as well as the times so I could make my visit shortly after the restock. Overall very friendly and would recommend to anyone in the immediate area for all your DnD needs.Due to the rising popularity of DnD I would personally call ahead to make sure that the item you are looking for is in stock if the trip will take you more than 30 minutes both ways.

I was looking for a good board game store in the area and found these folks in downtown Chico. Wow! Friendly staff (Nikki?), clean, organized, and what could only be called the best selection of board games north of Sacramento. I found Codenames, Splendor, Lords of Waterdeep, and many other top-notch titles. Thank you, Bat Comics! Any time I visit NorCal again, youre on my itinerary!

Had a good experience, found everthing I was looking for and will be returning soon. Up date as of 4/26/13 I have been to chico 3 more times and each time I return to bat comics, owner has always been friendly and has called when my books, mags etc have come in and I have never had a bad experience . I will continue to return there. I have been to collectors ink also and other stores I still choose Bat comics.

Had my first experience with this store, came all the way from Redding in hopes to buy gunpla offline. First off with in the first minute of being in the store the owner demanded a friend of mine to put a model down that he picked up to look at. No signs saying not to touch or anything like that. Second when looking at the gunpla one no longer had the wrapper which while it might not be missing anything its not marked in anyway to show a price drop for a opened wrapper. Third their prices where horrible, it was at least a 10$ mark-up from online prices. Also they had some bottleg Pokemon plushes that where priced like genuine products when it comes to plushes. The final straw was when another friend of mine who had a model kit in his hand completely determined to buy it removed a marker that was taped to the front of a shelf that was tagged like it was for sale, the owner took the marker back and stated we are not idiots we would not had made it so hard to grab the product ask up front for it. The way he said it came off as very rude and snotty. Was an instant turn off and we put up what we were actually considering buying and left. Over all a bad expirence.

BAT comics was Top-Notch when I purchased books there throughout my college years. Not sure what bad experiences these other folks are talking about, but I always felt welcomed and I miss visiting that store. Always used to walk down from Taylor Hall at Chico State and pick up some Vertigo Books, along with the general Marvel stuff, before heading back to the dorm or apartment to do some comic reading in lieu of completing the required reading from Ernst, Bueler, of (Shudder) Fontaine. Also had some great classes at Chico with Prof. OBrien, but thats neither here nor there. I regret not spending MORE time at BAT, and really getting to know the local comics scene. Wouldve been great to have worked there, but instead I had a short-lived, 5am gig at the school cafeteria/BMU, riding my bike from Pomona apartments across town in the freezing cold!! What a nightmare!!! But BAT was never a nightmare - it was heaven on earth!! Truly, the Meltdown Comics or Isotope Comics of Chico! I salute you, BAT comics - someday Ill be back!!! #comix #chico

Workers are friendly but the owner is always rude to me, Im not the only one who thinks this. Everyone I know, family and friends, all have problems with his rude behavior which is a shame.

I go in there and ask for a comic and the owner says you know this comic is $10 can you afford that implying i dont have money. but the rest of the staff is nice and helpful
