Small venue, close stage for shows. Staff has always been efficient and nice about the security and safety procedures. Parking is pretty easy if you show up early. Vstreet parking and public lots in the area that arent crazy expensive. Lots of food options nearby. Sound tends to be on the louder end so if youre a sensitive ear type like me, a pair of earplugs can come in handy!
This place is very iconic! Great venue, however I have to knock off stars because of how overpriced the drinks have become. I’ve seen some great shows here & have attended some awesome parties here. The echo is classic.
Lil Tracys show was amazing here! I would definitely come back. Good seating in the back
I go to a lot of concerts, maybe 50 to 60 a year, and one of the greatest venues is here, The Echo or The Echoplex below. Its such a small intimate venue, you could be standing at the back of the room and catch the guitar pick chucked out from the guitarist. Theres a small merch stand on the right side when you walk in, and a delicious bar to the left, with nice cold bevies from your lagers, IPAs, and cocktails .... now if they had some stouts on the menu Id be over the moon. Anyway, if you hear of a band/ artist playing here that you like, youd be off your head if you didnt go see em. You dont get much better venues than this. A true punk rock American treasure.
Slight AV trouble throughout the 3 total acts, but the venue is awesome. So intimate!
Nice enough for General admission stand only intimate space. Beer $13 each. TERRIBLE.
I had a backpack, and they didnt get me in. There was not so such terms when I bought a ticket. Hate it. Miss the concert of the favorite artist.
Its an excellent venue for touring acts both local and cross country stops.
U def should hire more bartenders.I’m in line for 45 min rn trying to get a drink
Went to go see Meg Myers! The best music venue I have been to. I attended the upstairs room (the lower room is larger). Its small so you are SO close to the performer. The sound setup is also higher end and enjoyable. Lastly, the beer and parking are cheap. So that makes it my fav music venue around LA.
When we came, they did not let us get in, because I had a backpack. I came to the concert after work and evening class, I cant live long day just without my stuff. I had to get taxi to get home and back. I lost time, money and got angry because when I was getting tickets, I did not see any terms about that. Also there was no any terms about covid tests.
I give it five stars.
THIS VENUE DOES NOT PAY THEIR PERFORMERS. DISGRACEFUL.
Awesome spot to see a gig
Great venue and great prices
Miss you 💜 can’t wait to come back
Great sound system!
Small, intimate venue
The Echo is one of the best places to see hot and fresh indie music. Small venue but with good airflow even on crowded nights. Its got friendly bar staff. It has a large smoking patio with plenty of seating if you want to just chill and talk to some of the interesting patrons.
Parking Info, to park - the small attached parking lot to the entrance of the venue is a CITY LOT #676 for PUBLIC PARKING and its only enforced until 9pm so its free for all by the time your show starts. The Echo barricades the lot entrance every night and when I tried to get in, their security thugs threatened to search my car if I parked there. I told him he didnt have a warrant then he said he had probable cause like hes a real cop. Another security claimed LADOT let them use the lot every night. I ended up calling LAPD and the police officer left me a voicemail saying he met with venues manager and confirmed they didnt have permit to barricade the City Lot. Manager denied about car search and said their security wouldnt block any car from going in/out... but yet they barricaded the entrance and utilized thugs to block. LAPD told me hes going to report this to their Illegal Valet Taskforce. I posted a picture of the City Lot sign, you can also see it on Google Maps (but I have no doubt The Echo will vandalize it) guard your rights if you wanna park here for $2.5 or free after 9pm.
Saturday is funk and soul nights. Great atmosphere. From my experience no complicated mixed drinks and had to keep it simple when ordering. Couldve been a new hire just learning the art of being a bartender? In any event still had a great time. Looking forward to next visit.
The sound was exceptionally loud and clear. Cokes are not too seriously expensive and come in a reasonably large cup (for those avoiding or abstaining from alcohol for whatever reason). There is a large outdoor smoking patio with ample seating and cigarette butt disposal receptacles. The staff was professional at the door, and I like that they wand for weapons. After the weapon check, the i.d. check is smooth, then the ticket scanner is right there. I advise event attendees to be ready with not too much pocket stuff, the ticket loaded on the phone and i.d. easily accessible because people not being ready can cause significant delays and a long line at the door. The restroom is clean, for a bar/venue with running water, toilet paper, a hand dryer, and, surprisingly, plenty of soap. The performance space is pretty intimate with decent views of the stage from most of the floor. The sound at the show I saw was brutally loud yet clear from virtually every spot on the floor in the front of the stage, though losing a good spot might mean returning to stand behind tall people who will limit viewing of the performance, while the sound remains about the same, so if youre dancing or hypnotized or whatever the seeing of the band wont really matter much. Not many people move to the music here, but thats normal in my experience at LA shows, but at least the crowd is tolerant of those who do wish to move and dont get ugly if you accidentally bump them a little bit when youre lost in sound. Overall I was really impressed with the venue. I forgot to mention I saw a food menu which includes vegan options, so even though I didnt eat anything I thought that it was cool that the option was there! Really fun show (Earth and Helms Alee)!
I took my 14 year old to attend a concert. I wasnt sure what to expect from a night club in Los Angeles at a music concert for all ages. I was pleasantly surprised. The place was small, intimate, clean, and safe. The staff wasnt particularly friendly but they did their job. The sound system had to have some problems or the sound tech persons needs to be replaced, for such a small space there was too much noise coming from the amplifiers, distorting and overwhelming the voices of the performers. The neighborhood, Echo Park, has completely changed in the last 20 years. It is clean, with lots of lights, restaurants, and at 11:30 on a Sunday night it was alive and I felt safe walking toward my car at that time with my daughter. I will not hesitate coming back for another event. I recommend this place.
I love The Echo. I’ve had many fun nights here. Bar service is generally standoffish though. And they no longer have self serve water yet they still get annoyed when I asked for water.
I love the echo but when did the metal detectors arrive? And when did the drinks raise to hipster prices? I love the echo, and you can reboot and make the bar pretty, but everything else is still kinda grimey.
Great venue. Easy to get to, plenty of street parking. Really good vibe. Fantastic lineup of artists come through.
This is a nice small venue for music. Theres free parking in the nearby neighborhood. The bar is pretty well stocked with Pabst Blue Ribbon on tap. Theres an outdoor patio available for smoking.
This is a neat venue and it is pretty huge. Ive been going to the Hypnothesis shows here which are always awesome:) The dance floor is huge, they have a very large bar, and serve food, they even have vegan options. There is also a huge outdoor area, with tons of sitting. The staff and security are all very professional and friendly. There is a lot of parking, and most of the time its free.
We have a brewery and full bar here in Echo Park! We offer craft cocktails, and 40 taps of the best beer and wine in southern California!
I loved this venue! I saw Cherry Pools on 3/11 and loved the show. Some seating in the back. Smaller stage. Holds about 350 people so its kinda on the smaller side but I liked the atmosphere.
I go to this venue quite often and I also play at this venue rather often. it took me a few visits to get used to the remodel that they did both in the main stage area and in the green room, but I feel that it may have been for the best. The sound is quite good especially when there is an exceptional engineer behind the board. parking is quite easy and cheap and youre almost always guaranteed a good show. it seems that there is always an effort to book a bill that works together, and add to that a built-in audience and youve got a nice little music scene. one thing I will say though is that I believe that the echo has now been bought by live Nation or one of those big huge venue type companies and so the security has gotten a little more standardized and a little bit tighter but fortunately all of the old people who worked at the echo are still working there, so I am almost always guaranteed a friendly face when I go there.the ambiance of the echo is dark, sort of blue, and dance-friendly. they even serve pizza from next door.
Im reviewing this establishment only for SATURDAYS. They host my FAVORITE funk and dancing party every Saturday night. Loads of people come here and dance their butts off. Always great music. Saturday nights is where the fun is at!FUNK SOLE!
Its a great spot for seeing bands and musicians of all kinds. Its small and can get a little packed, but still a great spot.
This is my favorite music venue in the city. It beautiful, has amazing sound, and amazing acts come through. Particularly, bands whose sound fits the venue like the Old 97s, American Aquarium, and Larkin Poe have come through and had amazing shows. They also have reasonably priced drinks and parking, and they have free ear plugs if youre so inclined.
Very nice atmosphere good local talent and good bar highly recommend if youre in Hood 😉👌😎
Deep blues, cool crowd. Cedric Burnside please come back!Leroy from the North was also bringing it.
The Echo is an excellent venue, very intimate and dive-feel. Bartenders are great, the lounge area outside is a must. Very enjoyable venue overall.
Great local shows, open high ceilings, new food menu, super fast service and great live sound...all good! Keep local music alive.
Fun free concerts most Monday nights with local up and coming LA bands. The sound system needs some serious improvements but for free its great. The beers are definitely overpriced though for a dive-bar music venue like it is. You can order pizza from the place next door and they have a great back patio with tables- its where most of the hipsters of silver lake and echo park go to smoke.
Performed here on August 15th 2019. Very dope venue. Cool staff...Good vibes. 80s club type atmosphere...
Awesome venue. Decently priced drinks. Good sound. Patio is nice. Emo Night the first Tuesday of the month is a lot of fun. Funky Sole on Saturdays fills your need to funk/soul.
Classic Los Angeles alternative and rock music venue! Its a tiny place so theres no bad spot, plus the drinks are cheap. Highly recommended!
Great intimate experience. Parking was cheap and a breeze. Most fun Ive had on Sunset Blvd. since the 90s...
I attended an amazing concert great place for gatherings highly recommend
Funky Sole is the best thing ever... Saturday nights only
Solid space for the acts that Ive seen there. Definitely more of the intimate vibe as the stage is not very high. Theres a food menu but I havent tried any of it.
One of LAs best venues to see bands. Cool people and overall vibe🤩
This place is awesome. I usually go to Funky Sole on Saturday nights. Its probably one of the coolest groups of people Ive ever been around. People all dress different but everyone is having a good time and just vibing with each other. Mixed drinks are kind of weak and over priced, stick to the beer. Other than that its definitely my kind of place
Ive seen a few bands here and its usually a really nice atmosphere. Lots of beers on tap. Good sound. A smoking patio where the music is not too loud.
I came for a concert, so the small venue was awesome. It was a little gross looking on the outside but inside was cleaner with ample seating and decent bathrooms. The bar made things a little sticky, as one girl near me kept spilling beer on my shoes and other people were getting pretty sloshed. But the ticket was cheap and the parking was free so who am I to complain? Would come again.
Small space, but awesome vibe. The back portion outside is a great place to hang out. Funky Soul Night on Saturdays is a good time.
Both this and the echoplex are excellent. The word intimate is thrown around a lot to describe this place but there really is no better word. Its just roomy enough though, and the acts are almost always so scarcely known that everybody there is genuinely excited for every artist on the bill. (the REAL FANS, man...)
Cool little venue. Good sound. Decent drink prices.
Every band you thought was cool or will eventually be cool comes through these doors. From rising stars like Billie Ellish or legends like Beck you would be surprised who has played this nearly 15 year old venue which use to be a mexican resturant. Recently added metal detectors outside the door for saftey so just an fyi. Also if you sneak your camera in DONT USE FLASH. No photo pit so get there early.
Great venue that offers lots of different music options
Great bar. The Vibe is nice and they have an outdoor and indoor area. Went for funk night and the music was amazing.
Always amazing. ALL types of shows, any you can imagine, emonite, Punk, twin peaks themed party, japanese artists, dubstep, YOU NAME IT. Sound is good, 2 bars so you dont wait too long to sip, security does a REMARKABLE JOB of keeping the area safe. I have seen them SO professionally come through so many times, cause the area is kind of loco with cracks and homeless people. Very good venue, well connected staff.
My new favorite venue, THANK YOU FOR LAST NIGHTS SHOW ! This is the reason hands down why I prefer going to rock shows in Los Angeles. I loved the venue, people, and just plain culture and music this place emits.GO TO A SHOW and stop reading my review
If you love live music, just go here. Enjoy!
A stage dove and no one caught me lol.
Perfection.Small, intimate. Good bar selection.Bad bar service, at least when I went.Interesting to find parking, but its Sunset so expect that.Overall, I loved my experience there
Place was great! We went for emonite. But they never responded to my email about a list item.
Aesthetically pleasing and anywhere you stand feels like your up close
Tiny venue for live events and dance parties. We went on a funk night that had two DJs, one inside and one on the back patio. The sound quality (i.e. the speakers) should have had their levels tested a bit better, as both were completely out of sync for their environments. That said, it was nice to see so many people alive and dancing in a comfortable setting. Id definitely go back if I lived in the area.
Been here a few times already and so far I have enjoyed the experience.
Just went here for the first time recently and loved it! The back area is a great addition!
Such a nice and intimate venue, they had air co,conditioning which was great!
Whlemt here for reggae music. It was live it was lit but do not come to after 11 p.m. unless you want to get in for free ladies.
The lower half that you enter to the rear nice place to dance and great air conditioning
The Echo is a very inviting and comfortable venue. When I go there I know that I will have a good time, they have great food and drink selections and always grest music.
Great place... I loved the atmosphere. So much fun. Great music!! HOWEVER all our group of 8 people’s ears were hurting so extremely bad from how loud the music was. The crispy high ends were so piercingly loud we had to leave... I asked the bar to speak to the DJs and they said the DJs won’t listen. So we left.Really sad cause I loved the dancing and the 80s throwback vibe of this place. But with earplugs in I couldn’t hear what any of my friends were saying and without my ears hurt soooo bad :( I’m a producer and can handle some loud music but this loudness was legit dangerous. I don’t think I’ll come back for that reason, I don’t want it to permanently damage my hearing. Left 30 mins ago and my ears are still hurting as I type this!
Loved it. Nice music, good food and drinks. Great service.
The amazing funk music, dancing, and vibes were good for the soul...
The Echo is a great place to watch ypur favorite band. The sound system is good. Theres a row of padded benches along the back wall if you need to sit.My only problem was finding parking anywhere near the venue.I had to park near little Tokyo and use a lyft to get there.
Great place to catch a show. Some of the best bands come through here. Recommended if you like cool music. Parking is easy
Great music. Great prices.
Been coming to this venue on and off for along time and its a great venue for smaller acts
Sound is great! Climate is great! Just all around great venue!
Great venue with awesome staff! Ive seen several bands here and I am never dissapointed!
Great venue for live music. Park behind in the lots. The parking is either free or cheap. Good beer selection, with ok prices.
Went on a Saturday, it was funk soul night. DJ spinning lesser known gems, people of all walks mingling and the backyard was the icing on the cake. Had a great time and I came alone like the trooper I am.
Great small venue. Get Two Boots pizza from next door...so good!
Cool spot, good time at the barber con they had there.
