This place is a downtown institution. I lived downtown during grad school, and would shop her frequently for great finds and steals. I’m in from SF visiting my father who now lives downtown, and am excited to pay the store a visit.
Amazing store- the experience in A Dollar is like no other! Sometimes I travel downtown just to visit A Dollar because I love the store so much. The store reminds me of a hoarder’s basement and it’s amazing. You must visit this store!!!
Most of the workers are rude and disprespectfull and about a month ago the owner (older Indian guy) punched me in my arm three times as he walked pass me to get something from the back they were holding for me and when I reported it security did nothing. I will never patronize Tower City businesses again. Also every time I have seen this guy outside his store hes always looking over his shoulder, so that tells me Im not the first and wont be the last. Watched your back people
Handicap accessible entrance, but the store itself cannot be navigated easily and staff resents being asked to make accomodations for people with physical disabilities. This attitude obviously starts at the top down since management was abusive when asked for help. Not sure if staff hates their job and everyone who shops at the store, or only those customers with special needs, but either way, willing to shame people who already face enough hardship.
Never found rude employee like other comment but......i bought a box of 3 LED light bulb, open the box and found red and green bulb for decoration. feel cheated
Nice little dollar store, a nice place to find odd ball items, such as stuff like the kind of things you find in a diner, alot of miscellaneous things, i saw a pj max clock for kids, Mardi gras beeds, alot odds and ends, alot of stuff you cant find in a regular store, for instints, i bought a item that you put your smartphone in when your walking and it starts to rain
Extremely wide range of cables for tv, audio, phone and PC. nothing is a dollar here though. the staff is extremely rude and doesnt know where anything in their own store is. they follow me around like Im stealing when I clearly have money in my hand. I only come here if I need specific cables for something, everything else youre just better off going to Dollar Tree for.
I’m disturbed to hear of employee’s disrespect toward person with a disability who needed access to the store. I fully expect management to ensure employees are respectful.
Unfortunately the staff at this location make it an uninviting situation for disabled shoppers, like a friend of mine, who was cussed at when she asked an employee to let her pass. Management was contacted, but there has been zero response.Being disabled means there are fewer places to shop, and as I also have mobility limitations, this wont be a shop I go to in Cleveland.
A woman of my acquaintance, who is black,, was treated inappropriately and badly in this store. She was blocked access to an aisle and spoken to rudely after politely requesting access and suggested she leave. And speaking to the manager, the manager called her an inappropriate word. She left in emotional distress and is still adversely affected. Do not shop in this store and tell your friends.
Rude staff. Definitely not a place to patronize.
The manager followed and harassed my friend and she wasn’t even in there 3 minutes.
Really horrible customer service.
It was pretty good the few times I’ve been here :) my only concern so far is that if you’re called “a dollar”, why is nothing “a dollar?” Just a suggestion.
Pretty much almost everything is over one dollar. Also if you dont want treated like a thief then I wouldnt recommend this place. You get stared at like youre going to steal something. It made me feel awkward. Its very rude and offensive to be stared at.
Going in you should not expect much. Theyve purchased majority of the merchandise in bulk for pennies on the dollar. Its very low quality stuff for the most part. You may find some nice things like imported bags of tide from Japan for a buck 08. Now onto the staff, Im not sure what the deal is and I dont want to approach this from a racial or cultural stand point but its hard not to. Ive been to this location numerous times and ill just say take your time and pay attention. There are some practices used that are questionable. Many busy ppl fly through these stores not paying attention and basically get cheated out of change etc. One instance i had placed 5 dollars on the counter to pay and went in my pocket to retrieve change. I look up the 5 is gone and the cashier is telling me i never placed it on the counter long story short it miraculously made its way behind the register and they pull it out like oh here it is. I just left at that point.
Very small isles but reasonable prices.
This place is disgusting. The moment I walked in, it smelled absolutely disgusting. Whoever owns this business does not take car of it at all. Everything is a mess inside and is extremely disorganized. Good luck finding something that is actually just $1.
The most racist disrespectful store the employees rather talk on the phone and communicate in another language instead of just saying hello thank you especially the pregnant lady thats from another culture
Racist they follow me around in the store. They dont say hello or how are you. Worst customer service every.
Incredibly RUDE PEOPLE. The store is a mess and there is NO WAY A WHEELCHAIR WILL FIT. Go to dollar tree instead.
Enjoy shopping here
Disorganized and pretty disgusting, staff is beyond rude.
Nothing at this place is a dollar, except maybe some small candy items. Staff is not friendly. Has a weird smell. Misleading name.
Almost nothing in this store is actually $1.
Store sells are excellent
Very cluttered...staff is rude...for some items they cannot tell you the same price twice...I asked about bluetooth headsets...one told me 99.99 and another either 29.99.or 19.99
Smells like Rat poison . Unorganized . Nasty
