Peter was great and fixed my cello issues in minutes! Thanks so much again!
I bought an instrument off ebay and it was damaged during shipping. Peter Zaret and Sons Violins did an excellent job fixing my instrument. Every step in the process was seamless. I received a fair estimate for the work, and the work was completed in a reasonable time frame. Peter and his staff members were all very professional and kind. They even replaced the strings for me, as I requested. I was so excited to pick up my instrument and take it home to play, good as new. This place is a hidden gem. I would highly recommend taking your instrument here to get it fixed! Their luthier service is top notch.
I had a not-great experience with Peter Zaret and Sons. I took my grandfathers 120 year-old Strad clone in for a paid appraisal appointment. The front door was locked when I arrived, so I called. No one answered. After about 5 minutes, another car pulled into the lot and a younger man proceeded to unlock the door. I went in, identified myself and waited another 5 minutes for the younger man to find my appointment. After another 5 minutes, Mr. Zaret finally came down. He spent about 10 seconds looking at my violin and told me it was a worthless Strad clone and went to hand it back to me. I explained to him that I knew the violin was a low-end clone, but wanted to know more about it as it is a family relic. Unimpressed, he acted curt and bothered by my questions. Bad customer service aside, he did not offer much useful information on the instrument. It was a waste of $37.
If I can give more than 5 stars!Mr. Zaret and staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. Made recommendations of choosing appropriate cello for my son. They offered us several cellos to try and select one thats compatible with my sons current playing. Welcoming environment and non intimidating as some string shops. We are so glad that we found Mr. Zarets shop and will definitely return for future needs.
Professional, friendly, great information and experience to share. Very recommended! Bows, instruments, accessories, repairs, music, etc.
Got my cello fixed here. They were professional and got my cello fixed in a decent amount of time. Priced reasonably. Mr Zaret seems to know quite a bit about the instruments. His staff is pretty friendly as well. Would consider going here again if there was damage to my instrument. Was overall pretty pleased with the experience.
I’m on tour with a band and at one of our shows my cello fell over breaking the neck. I was devestated and had great concern as we had another show the following day in another state making it impossible to leave my cello anywhere for repairs for any length of time. They got it done overnight. Wow! They even loaned me another cello for the night for free. I can’t praise them enough! Thank you! Thank you!
Excellent violin shop. Its been around for a while but I just recently found it. The owner is extremely helpful and knowledgeable on violins and other stringed orchestral instruments. Im extremely happy with my new violin and rehaired bow.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Zaret and his staff recently at their location to get to know their business. Dr. Zarets ongoing dedication to sound improvement is fascinating, as is his passion for music. I highly recommend Peter Zaret & Sons Violins to anyone looking for not just violins, cellos, and bows but someone who can be a guide to help you in your selection. They truly can and want to help you!
My violin teacher in college! Always an inventive guy and great violinist turned entrepreneur. Family business.
Such a good place, I bought my violin there and I am very satisfied. If I could, i would rate this 100 out of 5. Peter is really nice and educated about instruments.
Sales person was very knowledgeable, they have the best rental rate for school year
Brought my bass in for a minor repair (buzzing on fingerboard) and it sounds and feels totally brand new! Really nice staff and quality is superb.
Thoughtful, creative and persuasive workmanship helped me hear the right cello to purchase. Zarets innovation in bow technology and in sound mechanics for stringed instruments provides a breakthrough in extending warm rich tones and clarity.
Peter is knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. He listens to your needs and works accordingly.I am extremely pleased with the bow, strings, and advice I received!
Peter:Thanks for all you did. You are so wonderful. The kids love the violins.Frank
Very professional and great customer service
Drove 2.5 hours to have my violin worked on. When Peter heard I had driven all that way, he said he would work on it that day to save me from driving back and forth! One of the nicest luthiers you will ever meet. He took the time to find out what I wanted done to my violin, explain what he was going to do and what the cost would be.I ended up playing a violin that he made with his bass bar invention installed, I bought it on the spot!! This man is genuis!!Sounds from his violin were better then some that cost 10000x more then the price he was charging for his violin. Someday his violins will be famous. It takes my breath away everytime I play it.If your looking for a luthier to work on your violin or looking to buy. You have found the right place at the right price.
