Really nice helpful people working there. Fantastic selection, with high quality and hard to find fabric. The prices are not too much higher than the big box stores, and I feel better about buying my fabric here, because its small and locally owned. My Grandmother shopped at this store in 1965 when it first opened and now I shop there too!

This fabric store is a real jewel and has been the best fabric store in Southern Colorado. There are very unique fabrics in this store and as someone who belly dances and makes my own costumes Mill outlets has so much wonderful sparsely stuff. And it is not as expensive as you might think it would be not being a big box fabric store. There is so much nice fabric here fir quilting, dresses, evening gown, decor fabric etc. The best fabric store South of Denver.

They call it an outlet, but prices are almost double what you will find at Joann or Hobby lobby. Ive never seen such high prices on fabric in my life of sewing. Good selection, but you will definitely pay for it. If you are looking for something very specific, come here, but if you are looking for decent prices, just stick with the regular fabric shop.

The old man who owns the store seriously needs to sell and retire. He is always so rude to customers and employees. He sticks his big nose in when staff are trying to help the customer. This has happened numerous times to me. Each time that I have been in this store, I always spend between $200 - over $250. This old man should be grateful and thanking the customers that we have chose to shop at a Small Business. Customers need to know that this is not an outlet fabric store. Over the years, his prices has gone up quite a bit. With the rudeness that he always offers, customers will not come back.

With a name like mill outlet, I was expecting something totally different. Nice selection of fabric but with outlet in the name, was expecting much lower prices. There are some good buys here but expect regular pricing on most fabrics. I picked up a pattern that was stamped 50 percent off but was charged full price ( didnt look till I got home) 😥 Not what I was expecting.

I am giving 3 stars because of the huge selection of quilting cottons but their prices are high and customer service is lacking. Ive never seen them run a sale. They have an enormous selection of beautiful Batiks but they are PRICEY and sort of rough texture compared to other places. Other fabrics like canvas and duck are very sparse and lacking as well. Theyre really friendly to people who are experienced sewers but if you are sort of a novice they arent that kind. At least thats been my experience. Ive heard the man owner speak very unkindly to his employees and that made me sad. Ive been coming here with my mom when she used to drag me here as a little kid and now I go... sometimes... and after my last experience there, I will save this place as a last resort.

I went here looking for some heavier fabrics for a project I am working on. At first glance I could see they had a giant selection of materials and tools for sewing and fabrication. I wandered around the store for a while struggling to find what I was looking for. Then began my search for an employee to ask a few questions and could find no one to help me. I finally waited in line at one of the cutting counters to see if someone could help. I was finally helped, but I was only able to squeeze in one question before attention of the employee was diverted elsewhere. Not sure if I just wasn’t being taken seriously. I found another employee and asked where Denier was and if it was coated and/or waterproof. The response was sharp and short. I was told in a rushed tone that they cannot say waterproof and then pointed me to the corner where it was located. I tried to ask if she could show me but was only directed back to the corner of the store. I still had more question....I bought what I could find that I needed, or at least what I was able to get answers about and left. I’m giving two stars due to the huge selection to chose from, but don’t go there expecting any customer service.

I need a fairly obscure sewing notion, and none of the big chain sewing stores have it. I went to Mill Outlet, because while Ive never been bowled over by their friendliness or commitment to service, Ive never had a bad experience there and they tend to have things that no one else does. I called first, to avoid wandering around the store unable to find what I was looking for and talked to an associate named Kristy who was really quite helpful. She told me that she didnt find exactly what I needed as a packaged set, but they had a package in a smaller version (for reference), and she was pretty sure we could build the set I needed if I came in. So I went in, and the store was busy, but I offered to wait until she (or someone else) could help me. I was assisted by another associate who was polite enough but was clearly confused by my request. She kept suggesting things that were obviously not right, and each time I, very politely, told her that it wouldnt work. After a few minutes, a gentleman who I suspect is the manager or possibly even owner, came over and told her that if I was still making up [my] mind, there were lots of other people who needed help...even though I was looking to make a purchase and clearly not just a time-wasting customer. She told him what I was looking for, as attempt to pass off me as a customer, and he just walked away. I was annoyed, but went on looking by myself until someone else was available. I was approached by another associate offering to help, but as I was explaining to her what I needed, this gentleman interrupted again and told her to go help the other customers. She said to him Shes looking for-- and he said, complete with an eye roll, I know, I know, a bigger set, in the most contemptuous tone of voice I have ever heard from a retail employee. I told him I was no longer interested in spending money at his store and walked out. It is unfortunate because I always try to support local, independent businesses first, and Ive spent a lot of money at Mill Outlet over the years, but from now on I will be shopping elsewhere.

Unfortunately, reading the negative reviews had deterred me from shopping at this fabric store. BUT, I own a business making boutique style clothing and needed something very specific. I searched the internet and drove all over Colorado Springs with no luck. Today, I finally broke down and went here. I was nervous as I had my 9 month old with me and the reviews all said it was not a child friendly place.... I am so glad I went! The staff were wonderful. They were helpful and took every opportunity to help me with my purchase. The owner even came to me to see if he could help answer any of my questions. I am a native and have shopped here through-out the years. I dont sew regularly, so I am not a regular to where they would recognize or remember me. I had a very specific need to make a costume, NO other fabric store in town came even close to something I could use. I not only found what I needed for the costume there, but I found much more! I have never had a problem with the staff, they took my credit card with no issues. I dont often see children in the store, mostly because it is an outlet, the aisles are tight to fit the tremendous inventory, so children who cant keep their hands to themselves would very likely be tough for the parent. I like that the aisles are tight...no wasted space here because every area has product. Plus, I love that I am supporting a local business, not some national chain. If you want fabric and sewing supplies, not crafts, not card making, not dried flowers...just a large selection of fabric, including interior design and faux fur -- then this is your place. My most recent trip I had great service. I have been there when they are just slammed with people and are more rushed, but I have never had them be rude to me.

My mother and I have had several experiences of the owner being either rude to us or to his staff. Were not the kind to have one bad experience and never go back, either. There were SEVERAL instances over the years. The one that made us decide to never go back was shortly after my mom got a knee replacement. We had pulled a chair up to browse a shelf of quilting trim and he wouldnt let us check the extras drawer (if he didnt want us in there, he could have checked it for us), and he took the chair away from my knee-replacement-recovering mother so his rude worker could do her inventory sheet or whatever instead of helping us.

I got the fabric for my wedding dress here - both my daughters baptism dresses and when my girls went to prom we went there to get the patterns and material for that. I was concerned that there may not be enough fabric on the bolt, so I asked the lady at the cutting table to measure it for me, and she refused. She also refused to give me any swatches to match. There were no other customers in the store at the time, and she was just chatting with her colleague. In fact, I stood there waiting to be helped for quite a bit while they talked, ignoring me. The selection at this store is amazing, and in my experience the employees are friendly and helpful. Once when I was checking out I saw them helping a customer figure out a pattern--they had it unfolded and spent a lot of time with her. That says a lot. Theyve helped me with deciding how much fabric to buy, how to construct something, etc. While they dont have the mega coupons like Jo-Anns, they do have sales, but also dont have the horrible crowds and take the time to cut your fabric straightly and neatly.

Service speed at the checkout is what you would expect from a decent fabric store. Its not like walmart, you have to wait for them to cut the fabric so it may take a few minutes per customer. I must agree with all previous comments. The place has a huge selection of fabrics at a reasonable price. It is a dilapidated shop but serves the purpose. I was disappointed that I could not find any contemporary curtain fabric but it has a huge selection of traditional fabrics. I was also appalled at the owner/managers behavior. I had a very nice new employee helping me and he came over and belittled her right in front of me. I was both embarrassed for her and angry about his rudeness!
