Took my phone for a battery replacement recently, as Id had it for a few years and it wasnt holding a charge quite as long.First there was a non refundable $50 diagnostic fee, which I would understand if it was a computer or a device that I was having major issues with, but otherwise seems excessive. Battery wasnt in shop and had to be ordered.I was charged what seems to be around the standard price for a phone battery replacement, but Im not really noticing much difference in battery life than before.Overall Im not super impressed with my experience here, if youre having phone problems youre probably better off taking it to a specialty ship that focuses on phone repairs and doesnt charge a diagnostic fee on top of the repair fee.*Edited after Owner Reply* I understand that phone battery replacement isnt the simplest job. However Im still confused on the Diagnostics fee. I came in asking for a battery replacement and was no having issues besides slightly shortened battery life. So what exact diagnostics were performed based on my request? And if the battery life is not noticeably better or worse than before and the owner mentions other possible issues, then how effective were the diagnostics that were performed in the first place? I appreciate the warranty but its a 3 year old phone and Im not sinking any more time and money into it at this point. Was recommended the store as a second option by a trusted friend but still feeling like I should have gone with my first option.
Very quick turn around for phone repair (faulty charging port). Have used these guys before. They are reliable and honest.
Ive used this store a number of times. Techs are friendly and customer service here is consistently great! Turn around time is very reasonable. I had a stubborn issue which required a return visit and they cheerfully fixed it without further charge.
Gadget was able to fix my device quickly with reasonable price. Would definitely use their service again!
If you ever need any help with lost data, viruses or anything technology..please visit Gadget Guru, i thought i had lost over 3000 files on my business thumb drive, I tried Best Buy, they couldnt help wanted to send it out and would have cost me hundreds of dollars. I spoke with other data recovery services and they wanted thousands. GG staff and services were very professional, caring and affordable and I all my data was retrieved and im back in business.
The folks here are very honest! When my laptop was not working properly, they figured out it was still under warranty and recommended I go to the MicrosoftStore rather than doing the work themselves, which would have cancelled out my warranty. They could have easily not checked and done the work just to make the sale. Now they have a customer for life! Highly recommend.
Hard drive was crackling, they fixed it same day and back to normal. nice office and people.
The service was good there were some communication issues in the beginning which is why Im giving 4 stars instead of 5 but they were able to properly diagnose my ps4 and give me good advice on it. Sadly it was shot due to a power surge and would cost more to fix than to just buy a new one but they did all they could and since they couldnt fix it I only got charged the $20 diagnostic fee which I didnt worry about. Its worth another trip if I need advice on anything else or need anything else fixed.
I had my screen replaced on a brand new Surface Pro 6 by Gadget Guru and there’s lots of good things about the job they did, but also some frustrating things. The good is the staff was awesome, the price was fair, and service was really quick too. The screen itself looks really great, but they scratched around the entirety of the frame to remove the old, cracked screen and I hate looking at it. The Surface frame is matte black and the scratches stick out like a sore thumb. Now every time I use it I think about how I should have spent more money and had Microsoft done the repair. The photo added to this review is just one section, these small scratches are around the perimeter of my screen.
The employees were attentive and answered all my questions. They were knowledgeable and were able to fix our problem quickly and efficiently. We would definitely use them again!
Don’t come to this place, they gonna take your money for diagnosis and then either give hi coast or non fixable issue so the take the diagnostic fees. It was taken twice from me without fixing the issues and they almost took more than a month even to try to figure the problem. And finally I should mention that you lied twice by claiming that you called, you never called I am the one keep calling, it is very sad that I see that you still lie about it
I was pleasantly surprised by the computer repair skills of the technician Alex (and his associates too) and an honest appraisal of the situation at hand. I was trying to replace the internal mvne m.2 SSD in my HP Spectre laptop with a higher capacity one and in the process of opening the underside cover I ran into some problem--one of the screws would not turn and appeared to have been overly tightened at the factory. My efforts to get it out resulted in screw head being damaged. I took it to this Gadget Guru location in Columbia after an unsuccessful try by Best Buy Geek Squad. Alex said he will try to get it out without damaging the cover but with no guarantee. He called a couple of hours later and said he wasnt successful. We both agreed that a visit to HP authorized service center at Micro Center (in Towson and Rockville) might be worthwhile. The tech at Micro Center in Towson took a cursory look at the problem and declared he cant do it and it need to be sent back to HP. I brought it back to Gadget Guru and Alex agreed to take another shot at it and said there might be some damage to the back cover, and he will try to keep it to a minimum. I agreed. Next day he called and said he was able to do it and there are some minor scratches and may be some warping of the back cover. Long story short--Alex was able to accomplish what Geek Squad and HP authorized service center tech at Micro Center could not! His honesty and skill set are both highly praiseworthy. The fee for this service was quite reasonable considering the time he had spent on the problem and fixing it. I will be returning here for all my future electronics repair needs. Thanks Alex.
Appreciate the help with my electronics (laptop & Switch) that I took in on separate occasions. GG fixed both and was communicative when I had questions during my repair. They quickly solved the problems I had. I actually used both the Columbia location and Towson location. They were equally helpful. Happy to have a local resource for help vs having to mail things back to manufacturers or big box stores. This is much quicker!
I brought my Pixel 3XL in to be repaired, I had dropped my phone and shattered the screen. The repair was quick for it being around the holidays and COVID backing things up. Very professional and got back to me within a timely manner.
Very friendly and phone was ready when promised! Thank you so much.
I had the screen replaced on my ipad air 4 months ago and it has not worked since. When I first picked it up the tech said the screen was thicker than the original and that I would have to be careful. Basically the screen is so thick that it compressed the mother board. Even after contacting the owner no compensation or solution was offered and in the end they blamed it on me by saying I dropped it. Now I have to buy a new ipad...
Had my laptop (Lenovo Yoga 910) taken here for power issues, it suddenly stopped turning on / charging. As a musician using my laptop for recording I had alot of files on there of projects in the works and was worried that Id lose it all and have to start from scratch on these projects. They helped me out and were cooperative in being able to recover the files I needed. I tested what was recovered and all I needed from that laptop is safe thanks to the people at gadget guru Columbia, thanks!
Brought in 2 VHS-DVD combos with different issues. One was eating tapes, but otherwise worked fine. The other worked fine but the remote buttons to select options on discs did not work. The play, rewind, fast foward and stop buttons on the remote all worked. They charged me $30 for diagnosis for each machine. They called and told me they could not repair the machine that was eating the tapes and it would take $90 and more time to finish the other. I called after 4 WEEKS and the remote wasnt fixed. After another week they told me I could pick up the machines. Got home and had the SAME problem with the remote. Brought the machine and the remote back. They said they would call me that day and let me know what was wrong. 4 days later and no call. Found out I could get a replacement remote on line for $13. Called them and said I was getting a replacement remote and I wanted my machine and my money back. Got a call 20 minutes later that the remote was fixed and since it was working they would not return my money. They said they replaced a part in the machine that works with the remote and didnt know the remote still wasnt working because it tested OK in the store. I went and argued that I should not have been charged for whatever they did when a replacement remote for $13 would have fixed the problem. They would not give me any money back and let me have the machine. They said if I wanted the machine, they would take out the part they put in and put the old one back. I wouldnt trust them to touch it again.
They fixed my drone in a timely manner, goof cost. Only reason its a 4 and not a 5 is because they put the propellers on the wrong arms and when i tried to take a test flight it didnt take off just rolled to one side and damaged one of the propellers which i replace myself
Im a repeat customer at Gadget Guru because they have solved all my problems with my electronics, both quickly and economically. While everyone there has been friendly and effective, I would like to note that Alex, who assisted me today, had a problem with my phone charging port fixed in ten minutes.
My ps4 pro crashed while playing. I thought it was a goner. I went out and bought another for $400. I found gadget guru Columbia and took it there. It took a while to find the problem (very subtle and unusual) but they did fix it. They kept at it and saved me over $250 as I was able to return the newly purchased unit. Very happy with all aspects. Highly recommend
Been using these guys forever and they have been great up until now. Totally unresponsive no communication and they’ve had my PC for three weeks and I have no idea what’s going on
Would totally recommend these guys they went above and beyond. They always let me know what was going on with my repair and I never felt any kind of hidden motive. They were down to earth and very knowledge based!
I wanted to add solid state HD and reinstall the windows to my notebook. When I went in store, I was quoted more than what I had been told over the phone. It shows there is very poor communication among the associates. The difference was about $50, so I did not care. They asked for a $50 deposit upfront, which again I had no problem with.I got my notebook back after about 10 days. During these 10 days no body cared to give me a call and update on the progress. The notebook did not come with features to add extra HD, so they wanted to solder additional port to motherboard, which I was completely okay with. I am sure the pandemic was responsible for the delay in work, but atleast a heads up when the work would be done would have been nice.My notebook did not accept new HD even after soldering. I was asked to take the notebook back but $50 depot will not be refunded. I was suo because none of the work promised had been done. I asked them if they can simply reinstall the windows the notebook had, and I was told additional $50 for it. So 10 days and $50 later, I got nothing from Gadget Guru.I dont want to post bad review, specially during this pandemic, but I had to share my honest experience. I dont like giving money to a company for them to research. I would ask others to make sure they refund deposit it the work could not be done.
The battery for my company provided iPhone SE died yesterday, so I went to Gadget Guru of Columbia on a Saturday in desperation. The young man working there told me that he had a replacement battery in stock and would have the phone ready within 90 minutes. When I came back the work was complete and the phone was working perfectly. Also, the price was exactly what was quoted and very reasonable. Thank you!
Great service. Easy to do business with. Had a device fixed and had to take it back as there was a minor item that still wasn’t functioning properly after picking it up. I took it back and they fixed it immediately, no questions asked!Just used Gadget Guru for a 2nd repair and was equally as impressed as the 1st experience. Well done. Appreciate the service levels!
Highly recommended. Significantly better and more cost efficient than the Big Box store squad. My being a small business Gadget Guru understood how mission critical a computer is. Went above and beyond in repair and explaining condition and options.
Don’t ever have a negative opinion of this business, they will black flag your account. They aren’t going to make good on bad service by fixing it the next time. They don’t “play those games”. I had a terrible experience with this company on PC “fix” that never occurred so I figured I would let them try fixing an IPad and see if there service had changed, it hadn’t. In fact it escalated into even worse services and I was not allowed to do business with them due to my negative comments before on a PC repair. Now that you know, I’m sure the owner can explain to you why it was all my fault for thinking I wasted 50 dollars on a PC “repair” that never happened, and questioned the expertise of the engineers. Meh, it’s always our fault.. another 1 Star.. I guess that makes sense. So much for giving a business another shot at redeeming there business.. and now for the owners response..
Great techs, both times that Ive dropped laptops off, they have been prompt in assessing repairs and their prices are good. They work on just about anything electronic and the diagnostic fee ($50) is credited towards any final repair.Definitely would recommend them to handle your laptop repair!
Gadget Guru personnel are very courteous & professional. I dropped my iPhone 6 off for diagnostic testing and within 15 minutes I received a call back from Robin - stating what the problem was and he could have it fixed within 15 minutes. I was truly impressed w/the professionalism and quick service of which my iPhone was diagnosed. The repair cost was extremely fair and I must say, I would highly recommend Gadget Guru to family & friends for all electronic device issues. Hats off to Robin & Gadget Guru for outstanding work in a quick and efficient manner.Joey G.
I brought in my switch telling them that both my Power button on my Nintendo switch wasn’t working nor were the sides of my switch where the joycons would be placed. I paid the diagnosis and left it there and they told me me that they found an odor and that they left out to dry, I said that it’s fine by me and to please fix my switch. When they said it was ready for pick up I went to to pick it up and came home to it not working still and not being able to charge my joycons.
Super slow service. They have had my electronic for a month now and I’ve called for multiple updated and they have not been able to give me anything. They also said they person who worked on it keeps not coming into work (which they shouldn’t tell a customer). Every time i call They said they will call me back with an update and they never did once and I have had to continue to call back each week and still haven’t had a final solution. All I want is my electronic fixed and shipped back and they aren’t giving me any certainty, at this point i just want answer or send it back and I’ll send it else where.
Highly recommend....they were able to quickly and efficiently diagnose, source parts for and repair laptop during COVID-19 chaos. Friendly, professional service and reasonable prices...
Our seven year old Imac had been running sluggish, taking very long to start up, and load programs etc. I met with Trevor the manger from Gadget Guru in Columiba, MD. Trevor informed me that this is a problem that they have worked on before and that the hard drive should be replaced with a Solid State Drive (SSD). Yesterday, I picked up the computer and it is working faster than when it was new.The work provided and price were excellent and I will use this location of Gadget Guru again.CarlUsefulFunnyCool
I came in with a myriad of problems for my Nexus 6P. Alec was very helpful in getting me set up with a technician. The two technicians that worked on my phone were Trevor and Paul. They ordered a screen w/digitizer and mid-frame from their distributor and attempted to fix my phone that was permanently stuck in a boot loop cycle. My main goal was to get my phone working enough to grab the 2 factor authentication on the phone to unlock my accounts and disable 2FA. Unfortunately, my phone was unable to be repaired after they exhausted all feasible options that would allow them to retain the integrity of the phones memory. As they were unable to repair the phone in the state that I requested, they removed the screen, took on the cost of the ordered part and just charged me with a diagnostic service fee. For those that are curious the diagnostic fee would have been rolled into the service charge if the phone was repairable. I gladly paid the diagnostic fee as they did their due diligence in attempting to fix my phone. Their integrity and drive to fix problems has won me over and I will be sure to bring any future business their way.If you are curious as to why I gave them five stars when my phone wasnt fixed, go to their store and find out for yourself. They are an honest shop and I was so impressed by their service, I left happy with a broken phone. Just think about that for a minute.
Theres nothing worse than having a cell phone thats non-functional. And it was an especially critical time for me to be incommunicado when I took my phone to Gadget Guru in Columbia. I have an ancient Blackberry, so parts for my phone had to be special ordered. A week without a phone would have cost me significant business. But customer service rep Robin managed to figure out ways to keep me connected during that wait that went way beyond the repair work I was paying for. He genuinely gave a damn about my situation and was way beyond helpful. The tech personnel behind the scenes did a great job, too, but Robin provided one of the best customer service experiences Ive ever encountered. This is a valuable employee, Gadget Guru! His assistance and friendly demeanor is what will keep me recommending your business for years to come. Thanks, Robin! You were a hell of a good guy.
Had one of my laptop ssds fail and these guys took on the challenge of swapping it out for a new one. They did the repair very quickly and Im very happy with the results thus far.Highly recommend these guys for any and all computer repair/service needs.
Brought in a PC that has been locking up 4-5 times a day while playing certain video games. Explained to the tech that I have been in IT for 20 years and I didn’t have time to look for the issue. I had run stress test in the pc and couldn’t spend more time on it.Two days past and I called to check up on it and spoke to the owner. He and I swapped ideas and he explained he would look at the water cooling on the pc and see if the proc was the issue as I had already look at the video side (nvidia rtx 2070).I called back two days later to follow up on the pc and was told the owner had looked over it, but that he was off today, but might be in tomorrow to update what all was done.I called back the next day to find out the owner was also off today. So I paid 50 dollars for them to run stress test on the pc and find nothing wrong. I got the “ bring it in if you continue to have problems” Why would I bring in my pc if it’s going to sit in your shop for an entire week to have someone spend 2 hours on it and do nothing but leave a stress test on it. This is unacceptable service.Do not take your PC here. They are understaffed and have a huge gap in knowledge between the owner and junior technicians. I would have even been ok with a call from the owner to say “ hey we dropped the ball, we are a new shop with knowledge and resource issues” but I’ve moved on.. and when you see this review so should you.Update: crashed in the first hour of turning it on at home.Update from owners response: It doesnt surprise me that the ownerresponded the way that he did. I in fact told them on the Saturday (June 27th) that I brought it in I would need the computer back by Friday of the next week. He of course has made this out to be my fault they spent a week trying to address a port issue that I was never told about until this review. Ive seen some pretty bad computer shops over 20 years and this one is in the bottom 5%. Look at every response to the negative reviews, the owner is never in the wrong.. its always our fault for their service. Again, it doesnt surprise me how much he got wrong in his response, he never updated any ticket information in his system for them to even tell me what they checked. Its ok though.. Id pay 50 dollars to watch this business fail.Update on the actual fix. I fixed it in a day. I guess I should open a computer shop and provide my world class service too. I would explain the fix, but I’m sure it would go over the owner’s head, or it would just be directed back on me as being my fault for them not finding it.
The staff at Gadget Guru in Columbia were wonderful! They repaired my laptop in a timely fashion & the customer service was excellent! The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I was a customer service manager for 15 years and I was very impress with the customer service I received over the telephone and in person. I highly recommend their services!!!
I cracked my iPhone 6 screen yesterday. It was completely shattered. They fixed it in 30 minutes and put a screen protector on for me at a great price. I’m very happy with Kevin and the teams level of customer service. Super Affordable Price! Thank you guys!
Robin at Columbia (center park drive) location was AWESOME!!! I highly recommend him. Took care of me and got me in and out for an iPhone screen repair and iPhone camera replacement. My phone looks brand new!!! Im so happy and definitely worth the money!!! Quality service for sure. Thank you very much Robin!!! Im a happy customer.
I only learned about Gadget Guru after asking my moms group for advice on where to take my 2-year old Dell Inspiron that would no longer power on. A reasonable $50 diagnostic fee is charged at drop-off and is credited towards any potential repairs. Turned out to be a failed battery and when I inquired about upping the RAM, rather than immediately install some, the technician asked about my workflow and determined I probably didnt need more but would look at why my fan seemed to be running on high all the time. Really thankful to have a working laptop back within the week, thanks guys!
Impeccable service at Gadget Guru. My iPhone 6plus was completely shattered and they repaired it in under 90 minutes. Shaw and Rob were both incredibly professional and made me feel like I was in good hands.
I had a super great experience at Gadget Guru! I brought a second hand Wii to them for issues I was experiencing with the CD drive, and they fixed it quickly and efficiently, and always kept in contact regarding the repair progress. I had some issues with it after I picked it up, and they were super nice in taking the repair back and correcting the issue at no charge to me, even though they didnt make a mistake. Super responsive via both phone and email, and also very nice. I also appreciated their later hours--made it easier to pick and drop off my item after work. Highly recommend!
Utterly unparalleled service. I went in with a MacBook issue that Apple quoted a $1600 repair for. Gadget Guru immediately assessed the issue, explained it in easily digestible terms, and was thorough and candid about the entire repair process. I was apprised of all developments, and nothing was done without my go-ahead. Overall, I found that Gadget Guru was far more knowledgeable and adept than others I had gone to, and was able to save me over $1000. If I ever have a technical issue again, I will make sure to come back. I highly recommend Gadget Guru for any and all technology repairs.
DO NOT USE - take you business elsewhere. Should have used Staples for a simple phone screen repair. Will NOT go back, the manager is clueless on how to manage a business. Just lost a potential corporate customer for computer repairs and upgrades. Defective screen installation, ADMITTED by manager, broke the same day picked up. Tried to remove phone case to return for repair and he blames my son for “breaking” it. The idiot does not realize that the phone case has to come off to fix THEIR screw up, yet places blame on my son. Charges us expedite fee to get screen in, since he needs phone for college. That manager should have eaten the fee and moved on, admitted the mistake, apologized for OUR inconvenience, instead blames someone else for breaking a screen for which their installation was defective - and they acknowledge it. $50 expedited shipping fee just cost your business multiple thousands. GREAT JOB, I am sure the owner will be proud of the manager’s efforts. How is that for a return on your $50 investment?AND to respond to the Gadget Guru post, if the screen was attached correctly, it would not have began to come off in the first place. I did get my story straight from my son. He indicated that the screen lifted up after he got home - the same day as he picked it up. It lifted the rest of the way when he went to remove the phone case, so he could see what happened and bring the phone back. A miscommunication that he did NOT lift it up, but lifted the rest of the way when he removed the case.Second, I dont think we deserve a band aide job of trying to make something work by just pressing the screen back down, that was obviously installed incorrectly. For $240, I would expect perfection to be honest, plus your statement of we only warranty our labor, not materials is BS and since it is a NEW month April 1, you are out of luck anyway - REALLY? What does a new month have to do with anything?. Certainly customers of mine expect and receive perfection when they pay for a service. If they are not satisfied, we make it right. That is how we run our business. Obviously, you dont, which is the purpose of this review - TO WARN OTHERS HOW YOU RUN YOUR BUSINESS. Dont expect perfection, dont expect them to COMPLETELY stand behind their work. $50 I could care less, but it is the principle behind the whole experience. Not how I would ever treat a customer, not worth it to lose a customer over $50. But, somehow you think it is. Good luck to see how long you last.
They are amazing! Will definitely be going back if I ever need any of my screens fixed for sure. They didnt have to but my fiancé walked in to have my phone fixed at 6:40 they close at 7, and still replaced my screen and added a screen protector! I had my phone fixed in my hands by like 7:10 and I really appreciate the great customer service! I also appreciate you taking your time to get it fixed for me so last minute, so quickly and it looks perfect again! THANK YOU GADGET GURU! :)
Wonder! Very nice, informative, and communicated every step.
Just had Gadget Guru replace the LCD display on my daughter’s MacBook Pro. Could not be more pleased! They were able to get the part a day earlier than expected. The computer was not supposed to be ready until Friday initially. Dropped the computer off around 11:30 am on Wednesday and picked it back up at 4:30 pm on Thursday. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and thorough. We will definite use them again!
Before I came here to have my phones volume button repaired, I was turned away by 5 other stores because the way my phone is engineered it makes it difficult to repair without ALSO dropping at least $300 on a new screen. Everyone here was incredibly friendly, helpful, and understanding. They found the easiest and most cost effective solution when no one else even bothered to try. Ill definitely be coming here again for all of my repairs as I will inevitably break all of my electronics over time. I would definitely recommend this location for anyone in need of gadget repairs!Thank you again for everything guys!
Very Knowledge Staff, My Iphone needed repair my ear piece was not working well very low sound, i took it to these guys not only did the fix my phone but mentioned with special rubbing alcohol they cleaned my phone external ear piece and speaker area as well as the screen. I also purchase a new glass screen protector from them it was much cheaper than i bought from the apple store where the apple store sold me a plastic one. Highly recommended.
After waiting a month, was given two estimates.. One that didnt guaranteethe work and the other was so high I could have bought a new Drone. Stay clear from these guys if you own a drone, there clueless.. A waste of $50.00 and a months time. Stay clear
This company is definitely on point. Ive had two items fixed by their company and each time it was done well and within a reasonable time. I first had a apple iPod screen fixed buy them and then I took a co-workers phone to be fixed. Each time the service by them was professional and they do a very good job at continuous communication with you. I definitely recommend them if you need to have a screen fixed on a tablet or a cell phone.
Professional, extremely quick, knowledgeable, and cheaper than most. Why wouldnt you go here? They fix Apple and Windows products and I used them for an older MACPro. Now I will be taking my iPhone there as well. Very, very happy with these cool ones.THIS JUST IN: I did take my iPhone 6 here 1/5/18 and the same dang gone thing happened! Excellent, as a matter of fact SUPERIOR service and the bad boys turned it around in 15 minutes! My phone kept dying but Gadget Gurus said we go it. Love this place.
I bought my Plays station 3 in 2008 and it died 13 months ago.Called Sony and they were no help. Found Gadget Gurus and I took the PS3 to them. The were able to get it running again. Couldnt believe it but its up and running like new. Many thanks
Brought in a damaged DJI Phantom 3 Standard. They were able to repair and the drone is flying again. The total cost of the repairs was just slightly higher than the diagnostic fee of several other companies that I spoke with. Great company to work with and they respond quickly to any email request. Glad I found them.
Today I picked up a PC that had issues with the graphics card not allowing to extend to two monitors. I am limited with computer and I.T. knowledge. I came all the way from Catonsville because I ran into some issues of poor costumer service due to my ignorance to what I needed. The guys here at Gadget Guru were great. They were polite patient with my lack of knowledge. They were not looking to kill my pockets with overpriced work. They found a replacement card with the two parts. Even walked me through getting everything configured at an affordable honest price. Its nice to get work done from a honest place with polite staff that are patient with folks like me that are limited with knowledge.I suggest none other that these guys.
Cant say enough good things about this place! My phone fell and was not turning on while I was at work, and I didnt want to get a new one. Tried them out, and begged them to see how quickly they could run the analysis (it was 6:20 and they closed at 7). By the time I got home 10 minutes later (seemed unlikely he could take care of it that night), my house phone was ringing, and they told me it was just a shorted battery, which they could get done by the time I got back to the store! Great service, and great price!
Gadget Guru is spectacular. I went to them to get a few things repaired, and they knocked the price down for me and my phone looks good as new. Great service too! The guys are really nice.
Repair of Samsung Galaxy S6 Active microphone. This required replacement of a circuit board inside. They threw in the battery replacement at a significant discount since the phone was already disassembled. $50 for microphone circuit board. $50 for battery. $110 for labor.Extremely fast. I kept phone until the parts arrived, which was the next day. Installation took a couple hours and I picked it up that evening. After testing with several days of use, the phone operates like new. The phone also visually looks new with no bulges or glue.Minor complaints:-This work voided the water resistance of the S6 active. Not really their fault, but annoying just the same.-Ever so slight looseness to body. Not enough to notice because I keep my phone in a protective otter box like case.-One millimeter sized blemish under the glass. Luckily not a problem for me since the blemish is on the side underneath the otter box like case and not visible. However, were this blemish in the middle of the screen it would be a serious problem. This one blemish is the driving reason why Im rating at 4 stars instead of 5. For me it wasnt a problem, but could be for someone else.Staff was courteous and knowledgeable. Were I needing a repair again, I would likely visit Gadget Guru again.
Hands down, superb customer service at Gadget Guru! I could not be happier with the restoration of my laptop. After experiencing some water damage on my MacBook Pro, I initially took my laptop to the Apple Genius Bar. They quoted me an exorbitant amount in the price range of $1,200.00, stating that the logic board needed replacing, etc. due to corrosion. However, at Gadget Guru, they performed a diagnostic and was able to resolve the corrosion with a water treatment. Thankfully, the water treatment worked! I received my laptop back in 4 days and at the fraction of the cost of what Apple quoted me. I highly recommend Gadget Guru to take care of all of your computer needs! I am so grateful for the team at Gadget Guru! :)
Gave Gadget Guru a chance based off of reviews and im so happy i did! They (Columbia office) were very honest with me about the cost of repairs (which was reasonable and MUCH cheaper than a new phone). They replaced my battery in just a few short hours. They were professional and very friendly. Ill certainly recommend them!
Walked in at 5:45 with a cracked iPhone screen. Needed it fixed as soon as possible since its a work phone. Was quoted $120 for the specific iPhone model I had and a repair to be complete in 45 minutes. 30 minutes later both the LCD and Glass are brand new on my phone and it works perfectly. Was glad I trusted all the good reviews. Experience couldnt have gone better.
Got an Iphone 6S screen repaired here in less than an hour. Great service for screen replacements. Thanks to Robin.
Jason was FANTASTIC! Fixed my phone so I could retrieve all my stuff when Verizon was of no help. Fast, Honest & worth every penny.Brought it in Friday & had it back on Monday.Excellent Service.
Great service. They replaced my Mac hard drive, taking the time to explain the computers problems and options. After I got it home, I upgraded the OS and the computer kept crashing. They took it back, found and fixed some RAM and other issues and didnt charge me. Super knowledgable and in-depth information, explained in a way I could understand. Will definitely use them again.
Fantastic little place! Got backed to me within 24 hours, and continued to help me in the future. The pricing is reasonable as well, would recommend to everyone!
Great customer service, friendly staff. Reasonable prices. If you need your electronics repaired, this is the place to go.
They listen and ask questions - a hallmark of excellent customer service and integrity. I wish the problem with my phone could have been fixed but it was software related and if they flashed it I would run the risk of turning my phone into a brick. I opted against that since the obscure problem is that I can make calls and receive text messages but, I am unable to send text messages. Weird! I went to my service provider 3+ times and they couldnt fix it either so...looks like Gadget Guru helped me decide its time to buy a new phone. Totally worth the expense to have them at least look at it.
Worst customer service I have ever visited. I dropped my phone on Friday, and they promise to call me back on Sunday or Monday to inform the root cause. But until Tuesday they still no call me, so I call them back. They told me they dont know what happen to my phone and they suggest to replace the mainboard which cost more than my phone current price. It is ridiculous. The worse thing is when I pick up phone, I found the huge scratch on my phone and my screen is totally broken. I talk the their staff. and he told me he will talk to his manager and give me a solution. But after 1 week, I didnt get any call back. I am really disappointed. Will never visit it again and never refer any friend. It is most terrible service I ever seen.
The people at Gadget Guru were great. They were able to repair my computer and kept me abreast of their work and costs during the process. I would highly recommend them to others.
They know their stuff. They did a great job repairing my phone. They are attentive to my concerns and they took the time to explain things to a Layman like me. I gladly with my iPad for repair because I am so pleased with the service.
I had the power button in my iPhone 5 repaired here not too long ago. It was $110 which was 100% worth it. It only took 1 hr and 30 mins whereas some places would probably take forever. Thanks to Gadget Guru, my power button now works good as new. I would definitely use this place again!
Great experience. Work was done quickly, efficiently. I was kept informed of progress. Would recommend.
About 2yrs ago they fixed my broken screen on my iPad... it still works and there is no funny Buisness with these guys they’ll really help you out
I needed to replace my laptops battery, but the screw holding the dying battery down was stripped. I watched a ton of Youtube videos on how to remove the stripped screw, but these tricks made it a MILLION times worse. The videos then suggested that I drill into the stripped screw w/ a power drill. I did NOT feel comfortable doing this and wasnt sure where to turn...I emailed Gadget Guru late on a Friday night asking if this was something they could help me with, and the owner Trevor responded within an hour.I stopped by on a Monday after work, and Trevor removed the old battery and stripped screw for me on the spot for FREE. He attached my new battery, replaced the screw, made sure that the laptop turned on and that the battery was working fine.I highly recommend Columbias Gadget Guru. Dealing with this issue was incredibly frustrating, but with their help it was resolved quickly and painlessly. Thanks Trevor & staff!
Oops. Actually, as long as it took, the screen turned out great and looked as good as new. Sorry for the bad review, I didnt really understand what Gadget Guru had to go through to fix my screen (which was actually a lot...) So sorry! I feel really bad now. Thanks for not charging for the home button fixture and sorry sorry I didnt know what you had to do to get it fixed! Might take a little while but they do a really good job.
Great and reliable service. I had been experiencing issues with my laptops LCD screen and so I took it in to Gadget Guru for a diagonistic and repair. They were able to identify the source of the issue, find a replacement part, and install it, all in about a week, and kept me updated every step of the way. Compare this to the 2-3 weeks it would have taken had I sent it to the manufacturer, and I am certain I made the right decision.Highly recommended!
I found the staff to be knowledgeable and friendly. They seem to follow the Scotty Repair Estimate Theory, in that they always quoted an estimated completion that was then followed with them getting the repair finished earlier than expected.Reason for visit - a friend of mine was having problems with their Nexus. First a faulty power situation (shutting itself off) which was considered a common problem for this phone, and then to address a malfunctioning speaker. They were able to repair the power issue, but even replacing the speaker did not fix the lack audio output. The speaker they covered as warranty service for the power issue, but as the next phase was to replace an entire circuit board, that wouldnt be considered for warranty action.
I found this place after driving to one of the 3 computer repair places I researched – this place I should have made my first stop. After walking in, I found a warm welcome and knowledgeable staff – with quick wits and great sense of humor. I went to Gadget Guru looking for someone to repair my husband’s MS SurfacePro 3 cracked camera glass. After speaking with Trevor, he kindly informed me it is SurfacePro 4 – awesome! He said, I can do this and get it back to you within a day or two depending on parts and delivery. I said Yes! I paid a deposit fee of $50 then paid the remaining when all repairs were complete. Trevor provided me with a receipt which gives you details of everything they discuss with you – sweet! Added bonus, I asked Trevor if he would recommend any particular brand of glass screen protectors for the SurfacePro, he provided his thoughts, we did search while on the phone. Then, I ordered the screen protector I wanted from his recommendations, and he installed this, too. Lastly, Trevor rocked the repair and had it done so quick – less than 48 hours – it left my husband speechless. Thanks! I highly recommend this place for your computer repair needs – they will do some recycling as well.
I went o Gadget Guru this morning to get my Samsung pen fixed they ere really nice and fixed it in about a minute. Highly recommend this store.
I brought my phone in for a battery replacement. I had previously ruined my charge Jack because of saltwater damage and now the wireless charging stopped working. They went above and beyond to give me a working phone by repairing my charge Jack since the overheating event ruined the wireless charging enough not to make it worth fixing.I dont know about other locations, but this one has people that treated me well.
Brought my Samsung Galaxy S6 with significant water damage. Right away, they were able to tell me about the water treatment they were going to do on my phone - and about the next steps if necessary to replace parts. They were also upfront about the costs. It took a few day days longer to fix than estimated, but in the end it did not matter at all, because my S6 works beautifully again! Definitely recommend their service and will be a returning customer.
If you have kids with a phone... you should know this place. Reasonable prices to repair broken screens. Quick turn-around.
Very knowledgeable!
Absolutely amazing...was able to have my iphone 7 screen that was broken completely done in less than 40 mins. Was able to get my phone fix before my lunch break was over. Highly recommended
The GG crew are quick and professional. They clearly explain what the problem might be and what they found once theyve diagnosed the problem. Turn around is always quick. So glad theyre close by.
When another store was unable to order a replacement screen for my phone, Gadget Guru was able to get one in stock in just a couple days and installed it in an hour. Would highly recommend to anyone needing to quickly replace a shattered phone screen.
These guys know how to fix busted phone screens! Fast and very good
The hinge on my laptop was broken and I had no ability to connect to Wifi. I brought it into the Gadget Guru and they knew exactly what was wrong. I thought this was going to be a two day fix but they had it fixed within a few hours and it was good as new! Highly recommend.
Just had my iphone 6S camera replaced today! Super fast and friendly service! Couldnt ask for better service!
Came in on a Friday, explained my problem to them and told them that my headphone jack was broken. They fixed it and I came in during the week, and picked up the device. It works like new now. Thanks, Gadget Guru of Columbia!!

Prompt service, they didnt have the part I needed but ordered it at no extra cost and repaired my phone very quickly.
I had a great experience with Gadget Guru. The turnaround time for fixing my IPad was the same day, which, was completely unusable prior to the repair. I definitely recommend using them, and their location is very convenient in Columbia and surrounding areas.
I have taken 3 devices to be repaired here and they are always friendly, prompt, and courteous. Will continue to go here as long as I have broken device screens!
Brought my laptop here when one of the USB ports broke, Gadget Guru fixed it in less than two weeks (wait was due to shipment time of a replacement part and giant blizzard) and called to let me know when computer was ready to be picked up. Even got a discount on the repair, and laptop USB port works great now.
I checked in at Gadget Guru, concerned that my aged wii system would have to be consigned to the dust heap, but G.G. resurrected it and did so promptly and with outstanding customer service. I was very impressed with this initial encounter.
Paul and the Crew are rock stars! Just got my 80 gig ipod Classic back. Saved my DATA .. YAY! They did the job and then some. Very professional and personable. They knew what to do and have the tools (BIG microscope). They kept me in touch with every aspect of the repairs and sought permission for each problem they found for repair. I drove a long way to see these ppl and was not disappointed. NEVER TAKE YOUR STUFF TO A KIOSK @ a mall. I would recommend these folks anytime. They do give Vets a discount! A+ I wish you were in Rockville! Having now been there.. I just want to say location, location, location. Had I not done the digital map, I would have never found ya. Lets call it a hidden gem, kinda tucked away @ the Columbia location.
