My old John Deere is not doing well. Got tired of throwing money at it and decided it’s time for a new machine. I kicked tires in most of the local tractor dealerships and Lay of the Land was my last stop. Jerry answered my few questions and gave me time to look over the machine. No pressure, hassles, or B.S. After deciding I wanted to buy, business was handled (with financing) in less than a half hour. Had to do a little special ordering and installation and delivery was done few days later. I was very pleased with entire process. The delivery guy went an extra mile and parked the tractor in a better location than I had requested. (I wasn’t able to be present for delivery.)I’ve read the the negative reviews of Lay of the Land and thought I’d decide for myself about their customer service. If you’re reading reviews, you should probably do the same. I’m the garden center manager in one of the big box stores, the customers leaving bad reviews are probably the same ones I’d throw out of my garden center if I had the ability.Thank you again Jerry, I couldn’t be happier about my overall experience and I’d recommend you to anyone. The only downside; now that I have a new tractor, the wife suddenly needs a new convertible BMW.
I had a very different experience from the people saying they were treated rudely. I stopped in with some questions. The lady in the office could not answer them and said I needed to wait for the gentleman to finish with a customer. While I waited she chatted with me and was very pleasant. As soon as the gentleman finished with the customer he came right in answered my questions (very respectful) and I made my purchase. We set a delivery date. The delivery was made on time by a second gentleman. Again, he was very polite and took time to answer all my questions. No one ever made me feel like I was a bother or that they were in a hurry to get rid of me. Thanks LOTL for a great experience!
Absolutely!!! The worst customer service I have ever seen in my life, apparently there is no communication from there service department and the front desk, so when you call to check the status of your equipment thats being worked on and has been for 2.5 months your just met with I dont know whats going on back there youll get a call when you get a call, only plus side is tractor was fixed and is operating as it should, but yall need to work on your customer service skills, so at this point since the tractor is fixed well go with one star. At no point would i recommend any one to buy a bail of hay from these people much less a tractor, i look forward to yalls failed attempt to justify why yall are so bad at customer service like the other negative reviews that are within the same context as mine, i hope yall have the greatest day possiblesincerely first and last time customer!
VERY Rude, Phone Conversation with the person answering the phone.I have made several previous pick up purchases from this place with good results. However the person that I spoke with today about the possibility of a delivery, was extremely rude, with a very poor demeanor..Attempts to call back were not allowed as the phone was slammed down and then directed to voice mail.I asked to speak to someone the one time she did answer and was told -- he is in the yard and she slammed the phone down again.I left several message, but I am sure that the extremely rude individual will be the one to retrieve and delete my voice mails.
Lay of the Land is a great place for all your Landscapping and mowing needs! I purchased my 2021 Big Dog Alpha from here and couldn’t be happier with my experience! Mower was the price I wanted and delivered the next day as promised. Can’t say enough about the family that runs this place!
Great quality products and good customer service. This store sells higher quality products compared to the box stores, in fact they are much different. Jerry is a straight forward man and I appreciate that.
Response to your response on 5/30/2020Left a message and got a phone call back from rude woman.I’m a self employed hairstylist. I do hair for a living. I do not own my own landscaping business, dirt company or whatever other category you want to be under. I know NOTHING about dirt, getting dirt nor how much I need to pick up. Your job as an owner, employee is to inform your customers of protocols and how your company operates. I do not know if things are kept covered or I didn’t even know I could not get it when it has been raining! I do hair! You want to know how to fix blorange hair from box dye, guess what?? I can help you when you would have no clue where to start! That’s my job to help my customers! Do not defend the woman who was blatantly disrespectful towards me on the phone. I did not even get to have a normal conversation with the woman on the phone. I WAS FRUSTRATED due to the rude woman on the phone! If you would like to discuss the conversation of the HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I received, you can let me know! I would NEVER speak to any of my customers the way the woman Spoke to me. Word of mouth Goes along way. That’s all 😊
They are so nice and helpful! Even able to deliver to us the same day! Very thankful, will be back for sure!
Great place good staff went there to get some rock for the driveway good product and a good price
My 1st review. I was in need of a lawnmower and this company is close to where I live. I checked reviews and thought twice about lotl. I went back a day later to read between the lines because most people leave bad remarks when they dont get their own way so to speak. Then I re-read JENNIFERS review, which had changed from the day before. Odd I thought. I actually went back a few hours later, and she had changed it again! I witnessed a change in her review 4 times. Because of her review, I decided to go to them.(obviously, to ME, she was not telling the truth/whole story) I went to lotl for my mower, and purchased from them also! So, people, dont believe everything you read. Martha Clark. I really like my bobcat lawnmower.
So just called this place, which appeared to be a landscape supply store. I said I was in need of a load of pea gravel and if thats something they can deliver. The woman on the phone oddly replied I dont know what pea gravel is in a surprisingly stand-offish way. She then quickly said 3 names that I can only assume may be industry specific terms for grades of gravel. I asked her to repeat that, and she again said I dont know what pea gravel is?. Im not a landscaper, but ive been a trade worker and pea gravel is a very common term for gravel...thats roughly the size of a pea. Idk...just didnt get much customer service, for example, suggesting something that was similar to what I was asking for, something that possibly I just didnt know what your establishment chooses to call it. Anyway, place may be great, but lady on the phone could use a course in customer service.
We have used this place quite a few times to get rock and mulch. Good quality and fair prices
First off I would like to say I love my LS MT125. Purchased about a month ago and use the hell out of it. I have a kubota bx series and the kubota is a POS compared to the LS. Jerry and his son are amazing. If you are looking for quality stop to LOTL and see what I’m talking about. This is a commercial place and that being said I saw some reviews about repairs on Home Depot quality equipment and to be honest I’d just scroll by if you are looking to rebuild a $60 weed eater because the reality is if you buy cheap then that’s what you get. I trust my money with these guys and plan to purchase another machine in the near future.
5-2-2020 Drove over 200 miles to purchase a used walker mower that was advertised, spoke with Jerry about the mower on the phone. Called this morning to make sure the mower was still available, spoke with a lady. Jerry was busy, I told the lady I would be paying with a company check I was not told that they would not take a check from my company. The first guy that come out to help us knew nothing about the mower and kept saying we would have to speak with Jerry. Jerry came over to talk with me about the mower, I ask my son to grab the check book out of the truck. Then Jerry started cussing saying how he would not take a check, also would not take my federal ID number for the tax and he would hold the mower until the check cleared then I could come back to get the mower. So I was going to put it on my cooperate credit card then he said he would charge 3% on the total to accept a credit card. If you go see Jerry at Lay of the Land in Concorde NC you will need to have cash and dont be surprised if Jerry is rude and nasty toward you.
Got a great professional-grade backpack blower from Lay of the Land in Concord, with excellent service from Jerry, at a price equal to or less than the lower-quality stuff carried by the big boxes. Also got my propane tank filled and some other yard and home supplies I needed at great prices - did not realize they carried most everything needed for outside. They have everything you need for the yard with knowledgeable help, and they do yard projects like fencing and grading as well. Highly recommended.
Negative one. Customer service is the worst!! Woman is the rudest person and every interaction is a GIGANTIC inconvenience for her. Absolute disgrace.
I stop one time to find out if they work on my hustler zero turn under warranty from Husler,I bought it from Lowe’s they told me yes sure bring receipt and if it’s register they will work on it if it’s not they trying to charge me $50 to register the product online, so two weeks later I call in before I go to the place and front receptionist she have no time to explain why And put the phone with someone else I think owner now they don’t work on the zero turn if I bought it from Lowe’s but yes they are Dealer For Hustler
I went to several other zero turn Dealers all around this area. When I went to LOTL I enjoyed his up front and straight shooting. He beat the price on all the other dealers. Ive went back several times a bought other things from him and his wife. They was grilling out and even offered some Chicken. Wont take my business anywhere else but lay of the land.
I needed some warranty work done on a Bobcat mower I bought from LOTL two years ago. A pulley had come apart on the mower deck. They came out to the trailer I had the mower on and made the repair without even having to take the mower off the trailer. I was in and out in 10 minutes with a working mower and no hassle on the warranty work. It was exactly the kind of service I was hoping for.
Beware of dishonest and crooked service! Do not bring your products here to be serviced. I dropped off a $90 TroyBilt trimmer which was under warranty and was told it was a simple $35 carb clean that was not covered by warranty. If anything else was wrong, they would call me before making any repairs. One week later I received a call that my trimmer was ready, and upon returning to the shop I was stuck with a $90 bill because they replaced the carb without asking for my approval. TroyBilt informed me that the replacement carb costs $18, yet Lay of the Land charged $45 for the part. At the end of the day I paid $90 to replace a carburetor when I could have bought a brand new trimmer for the same price. Complete disregard for the customer!
After driving 30 minutes it was a total waste of time. Woman inside was really rude. After looking around for 5 minutes no one came to see if we needed anything. Was looking to buy a package deal but we decided to take our business elsewhere.
Wasted my time. Zero STARS
I hate the fact they stopped selling Dixie choppers
