Don’t be fooled by older, more positive reviews. While it’s true the lockers are in very good shape most of the employees are rude, even to the point of being abrasive. The security system is in disrepair - the pass code to enter the facility has never worked which means getting someone out of front office to let you in AFTER you call and complain. Worse yet, when asking a question you’ll likely get a “word salad” answer rather than a concise reply. Replies like “ can’t you read the sign on the door” (of course, there was NO sign) and references to “inside baseball” terms like “new building” (How am I supposed to know which of the 8 buildings are “new”?). In closing, if you are into rough treatment and general incompetence this clown academy should fit you to a tee….

I walked in here the other day and was really impressed with the facility and customer service. I was actually headed to the storage company down the street but I turned around and came here instead because it looked so much nicer. I rented a unit on the spot and had instant access. Was able to easily get my things in, even after hours, and am really happy with it. They offer great rates too!

I have two storage units at this place. I had the entry code on a card in my car which was misplaced. So, I went online to see what time they closed so, I could get into my unit during operation hours which are stated on their website. They said they close at 6:00 PM. I arrived about 5:15 PM they were closed. I called their answering service they said they could not give me the code over the phone but they can contact the manager and have them call me right away. I waited for 30 minutes no call. I called again, another person answered as I was given my call back info I was disconnected. Called back again after 6PM left another message. I really needed to get info my unit. This is the second time they have closed before their 6:00 PM closed time stating there was an emergency no one return my call that day either. They can send emailed to their customer to state they will be closing early or have a way online for you to you retrieve the passcode afterhours

Very nice storage facility. I have been with them for many years. Very secure and your items are safe. I recommend them if you need storage in the Crystal Lake and surrounding communities. Very nice people there, too.

I have had a pleasant experience each time from the first day I had rented a unit. The staff is great and very helpful throughout each encounter. Nice units and easily accessible at good prices. I highly recommend Crystal Lake Self Storage.

Great person who help you there

Helped a friend move out of her unit today and the landlord was very friendly. The unit was a good size too. Her monthly payment was worth it too!! They bought a house and were finally able to have all their belongings.

They are so helpful here. The temperature controlled facility is quite nice and the doors all work well. My only complaint is that the so called temp control is still Arctic feeling in the dead of winter.

I am sorry that it took me so long to review. I was going through a very difficult time and they were so kind and accommodating. They went out of their way to make sure I was safe at all times. And the facility was spotless, and they were very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Give them a try. I promise you won’t be sorry! 😊

Weve had a unit here since the location initially opened. We rented our own truck as we were never told one was available to us. We saw the free truck option the day we came to bring our stuff in. When we asked about it, they said it must have been in use when we initially went to sign up our unit. Youd think it would be something that theyd communicate and not just expect you to see yourself.Im an added user on someones account and they also didnt tell us that Id have no access to assistance unless I had my name listed. Again something that would have been nice of them to have asked if we needed when we signed for the unit.Weve had times where weve gone to our unit (which is outside) and the gate is sitting wide open with anyone who wants to come in having full access. Ive reported it multiple times and a couple of those they wouldnt let me report because my name wasnt on the unit. Since I was added, Ive reported and waited around about 30 minutes for someone to come fix the issue and I end up just leaving as I never truly know when someone will come by.I also have had issues during the winter where the keypad wont respond to our security code. Ive been told the keys are heated and they shouldnt freeze but after experiencing issues, I dont believe this is true.Our rent has gone up each time the 12 month period is over. We switched here to this location since its closer to home and was initially only $5 more than we paid. At this point, the convenience isnt looking as good as the savings wed have had we stayed where we were. Moving all over again is just such a huge hassle.

That facility was excellent. We appreciate the box truck that is available. One of the best parts was the employee at the service desk. She was helpful and more than pleasant

Sold our home and needed a place to store most of our stuff while our new house was being built, which turned out to be 11 months. We rented 3 inside climate control units and we very happy with our experience. Loved that you could pull in when the weather was bad and load or unload, plus using their truck for free was a HUGE savings too! The girls in the office we very friendly and kept the place spotless. If we ever need storage again they would be our first choice!

This storage facility was stellar. The employees were very accommodating and kind and the facility was very clean. I love the indoor storage and found it easy to load and unload when necessary. Most of my time spent in the facility was during the winter months and found the temperature controlled environment quite comfortable. Would totally recommend this place!!

Great customer service. Friendly and helpful. Ultra clean new facility that was well lit and convenient to pack and unpack. No problem fitting my big truck inside during move.

Staff were very professional, courteous and efficient. They had us renting a small unit in a matter of minutes, and explained everything clearly. No surprises or hidden costs. We used our home owners insurance and did not have to pay separately for insurance. Checkout was very simple, and very efficient, once again. Will definitely use Crystal Lake Self Storage in the future when the occasion calls for it.

The facility is run by extremely helpful professionals. They are very welcoming and courteous. The entire property is in impeccable condition and the interior climate control units are so easy to access. You wont believe the level of cleanliness, it was above and beyond expectation.

This storage facility was great. We used a climate controlled unit and were able to load and unload away from the weather. It was easily accessible from our home and the staff was very nice. We highly recommend this facility.

I was impressed with the cleanliness and the setup with security. I really liked the fact that they have inside humidity controlled units.Great place overall!

I rented one unit via Nick at Crystal Lake Self Storage, and the process literally took less than a half hour on the phone. Nick was down to earth, friendly, didnt push the hard sell, and made suggestions based on my needs. Two weeks later, I needed a 2nd unit, so I can start truly utilizing the space, and to be able to go through the boxes and boxes that I have to organize. I called again, and spoke to Lisa. Lisa sensed exactly what I needed and took care of it for me in moments. Lisa was very detailed with the pricing, the free month, and the difference in size so there wouldnt be any surprises. This is a clean, cool, and well organized operation! I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for space without the frustration of feeling like they are being sold. I was going to rent from one of their competitors but when I saw the prices, cleanliness, and convenience of their facility I quickly changed my mind. The staff here was very friendly and able to answer all of my questions. The units are nice and clean and the main climate controlled unit even has a loading bay so in the event of adverse weather you can get your stuff in and out of your vehicle without interference. Very satisfied with every aspect of this business.On a final note, I needed a lock for my unit and they had them for sale on site and surprisingly they were very reasonable. Most businesses would use the captive audience method to gouge you for the convenience but the price was right in line with any other retail establishment!

I love the moving truck thats available when needed and the 24hr access that you can get with no extra charge.
