I have been sitting here for about 30 minutes. When I asked someone walking by how much longer, her response “I don’t know. He’s seeing patients. I don’t know.” Dr. Hoover is great and very thorough but the office staff is extremely rude. Especially during covid. The way they leave you standing at the front door while it’s locked is very unwelcoming. The optician is wonderful. But the office staff needs re-training.

Dr. Hoover was extremely professional and very patient to all of my questions! Their office made accommodations to see me I am extremely appreciative for this. The staff were super friendly as well as Dr. Hoover himself. They also treated my son great.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hoover‘s for 20 years. I had the worst experience this week that I walked out and went to another eye doctor that same day who was extremely professional and I felt very cared for. I was met at the door by a nurse Who was not rude but also not friendly. She asked me where my mask was and I found one in my purse and put it on. Dr. Hoover followed behind me into the door because he was just arriving due to my 8 o’clock appointment. We had minimal chitchat and walked in. Dr. Hoover went to the back of the office and then his nurse began to asked all those Covid questions. I responded no to all of them. She asked me if I had left the state in the past week and I responded yes. She got very huffy and made me feel like I had the plague standing right there in the office. The survey questions that I answered by text the previous day did not have a question about going out of state. She then went back to Dr. Hoover which was just around the corner to ask him. When she came around the corner she spoke condescendingly across the office asking me if I had been vaccinated. I told her that it was private information that I was not going to share to her, especially across the office and into the waiting room. She got more huffy. I told her it was up to her whether they would see me or not. She told me they would have to reschedule another appointment and I told her no thank you I will go and take my business somewhere else. I asked for my medical card back and she said I would have to step outside the door to get it back. I’m very upset that Dr. Hoover did not come around the corner and talk to me about this. I have been coming to him for 20 years and he sent his not so friendly nurse out to do the nasty work. This is the most unfriendly and uncaring and unprofessional place! She told me she was following CDC guidelines. I had waited for months for this appointment. Funny thing is… I was able to schedule another appointment in Charlottesville for the same day and they did not bombard me with questions about leaving the state. I got the normal Covid questions that I answered, which was the CDC guidelines. They made me feel very welcomed, cared for, and they were extremely professional! So obviously the excuse of using CDC guidelines was false. It was so nice to go to an eye doctor that I could get into that day or sometime that week and they were extremely friendly and professional. Go to Dr. Janice G. in Charlottesville Virginia at the Holleymeade shopping center. First of all Dr. Hoover should fire his nurse then he needs to reflect on his professionalism towards his patients.

Tried to schedule an appointment for my son and the first question is “What type of insurance does he have?” I tell the woman and she’s super nasty, “No hon, we only use them if it’s a medical reason” I explain Dr. Hoover is on my son’s list of providers, she’s annoyed and says, “Fine, let me look him up...” I said nevermind, I actually want to take my son somewhere professional.
