My fiancée & I came here on a Saturday morning and had a great experience. They offer a mimosa carafe for a very affordable price. We both had the all American breakfast and the food is truly farm to table. The grits, biscuits & cinnamon butter were the true standouts. It was our first time here and we’ll definitely be coming back. The service was great too.

Old school diner experience. Clientele was very diverse so you will feel welcomed. Had the special.. 2 eggs, bacon, toast, and grits with an adder of a pancake. The grits were the best Ive ever eaten outside of my own, and I wanted to eat the whipped butter for the pancake by itself, so good. If you are in town it is worth the stop in.

It was good, but nothing I would brag about. I got the garden hash which was good but I didn’t love that they had cucumbers and some other questionable veggies (it wasn’t included in the menu description). The eggs weren’t runny and more medium cooked. My mom got an omelette and loved the home potatoes.

You ever wonder how it feels to be in a movie, in a small town, in a diner, where you can sit in the same booth, see the same older man every morning reading a paper, know the server AND where the food comes from? This is literally that place. I have not had anything not perfect nor service that was not top notch and personal. Parking can be a bit tricky if you park in front (maybe about 10 spots for all the strip) but there is a parking lot in the back. I literally had the best orange juice of my life there, that they squeeze daily and they knew where in San Antonio they came from. The chicken and waffles, heavenly. You might want an extra waffle, they give you so much fresh, juicy chicken. The breakfast Benny ($14 weekends only): that sauce, the perfect eggs, shallots and cheese, the corn bread muffin underneath, amazing. Just go the next time you are hungry and wanting something delicious, affordable--maybe even underpriced, if youve had chicken and waffles in Dallas elsewhere--but if you are in my booth, I will quietly watch you eat from the bar until you vacate haha.

Now this is a spot I knew nothing about before yesterday. My ladyfriendperson and I stopped into Luckys Cafe on a whim after searching Uptown Dallas for about an hour looking for good breakfast food.Let me tell ya the atmosphere inside is straight out of a 1960s diner. It was lively, upbeat and the decor was lovely! We both loved the little messages scrawled on the walls honoring those who came before us.We split an All-American breakfast, and yall they ACTUALLY SPLIT THE MEAL for us! Most places will just keep it to the one plate but our server was incredible and had them evenly split it for us. Still shook about that one!She tried the grapefruit mimosa which was heavenly! All told we spent about 25 dollars for a meal for two, two drinks and coffee, thats a great deal!5/5 I will definitely be eating here again!

A friend recommended we go here for breakfast while in Dallas this weekend. We didnt have a reservation so we waited maybe 15 minutes. The gal seating us was very nice (and remembered my name as we left which was a nice touch.) The food, for me, was just okay. We got the breakfast tacos and the veggie hash. The potatoes were huge and the other veggies were diced very tiny and still undercooked, so the ingredients were mismatched and strange to eat a cohesive bite and my eggs were undercooked so it was just a fail for my meal. I dont enjoy things like steak fries or huge chunks of potato, so that might just be me. Lol. Our server seemed quite disinterested, but the overall atmosphere was good. Might be better for lunch or dinner. Incidentally their flatware seemed huge so my hubby wanted a Deadpool reference picture for laughs. 🤣🤣🤣

It’s a good spot for the Oak Lawn community but other than that….Super basic breakfast spot. Honestly, you can go down to Snooze or Eatzis down the street and have a better breakfast experience. It’s very much a no frills diner with breakfast meals one can easily make at home.

Not only was the food fantastic, but our server Steve was out of this world. Our cups never got 1/2 empty, he made modifications to the order with no extra charge, brought to-go cups with the to-go boxes which are ‘super sturdy’ divided containers with clear lids to be able to see what’s in the fridge. He had also the perfect amount of conversation and leave us alone to talk. I will go back there in a heart beat and will always ask for Steve.

I saw the reviews and thought Id give this place a try. The food (chicken fried steak, potatoes) was overall good, didnt care so much for the chicken soup. The host was actually nice. However, The waiter wasnt the most hospitable or concerned. He didnt ask if our meal was OK. We had to ask another server where he was at one point. I would have liked a biscuit, roll, or toast with the meal, but again, server rarely in sight. I gave up trying to find his tail. He would have gotten a better tip too. He really didnt deserve the one I gave him😏.

When I look out at night, I can see the lights of Lucky’s and I remember all the ghosts who have come and gone. Shane is at the very top of my list. His adorable personality and quips were a large part in deciding to go to Lucky’s any particular night. No more smells of bleach or the sounds of Steramine plopping into the sink. The heart and soul has gone out of what used to be Dallas’ favorite corner cafe. Shane Kearney left in January, depleting the exceptional quality of its brightest feature. It is truly rare to find a home restaurant with an employee knows the customers by name and what they want to drink when they walk in the door. I went there more than once a week—for the friendly greeting, the warm atmosphere, the personal service. That is greatly weakened by Shane’s absence. I’m looking for a new spot now.
