Fantastic experience! Teresa took the time to understand what I needed, then explained the repair method she expected to use. Friendly and professional throughout. She called as soon as she was finished. Thanks to her, we have functional patio chairs once again. Additionally, window signage let me know the COVID-19 precautions taken by the shop. Many thanks! Definitely recommend!
Teresa was very helpful. I found this machine shop from a referral. I taked with them about machining a part for me. They helped me with my issue and gave me free advice witch does not happen with most businesses. I will be back. They are very knowledgeable.
Ive used Monroe Machine for several small projects over the years. Theyve always been very friendly and helpful. On a few occasions, I have not had my plan fully flushed out when Ive walked through their door - Ive had a box full of metal parts without a clear idea of how things are going to fit together to accomplish my goal. Theyve been willing to take extra time to show me how we can use different ideas, pieces of metal, etc, to plan out the project. Theyve even taken the time to explain why certain metals should be assembled in a certain way, and shown me how they do different tasks in their shop. So the customer service is awesome - just what youd hope for in a small family-run business. Theyve always charged me the amount we discussed, and have done very good quality work.
We agreed to an hourly rate of $75/hour, but their bill did not state the number of hours, only a total $578.26 before tax. I divided this by $75 which is 7 hours, 42 minutes, and 36.48 seconds, which seemed odd. I emailed them asking them to simply list the number of hours on the invoice, and I was on my way over to pick up the part. When I arrived, Teresa yelled and yelled at me without letting me say a word, and went in back slamming the door in my face. Her mother Lydia was indignant, said no one had ever wanted any details before, and she would never show me how they came up with the amount. Teresas son Clayton, who did the work, came in and said they have to add in tools they purchased, but then said they didnt purchase any tools for this, and he, too, refused to explain the calculation. An honest company welcomes questions, and would have punched the numbers in the adding machine they had there, and showed me the calculation. This suggests to me these are all, every generation, dishonest people, who overbill, and have no respect for customers. I had a quote of $65 per hour from Cameron Machine in Richardson, which appears to be much more professionally run, and I highly regret not going there, or anywhere else. Go to Monroe if you like adding bad experiences to your life and feeling ripped off.
I started using Monroe Machine over 10 years ago and in that time I think I have done at least one project or more using them every year. They earned my respect and my future business because they would work with me and help me with my project when no other shops wanted to work with a small start up without a print. I have been there when they were helping other customers who came in got their job done and left all in a matter of minutes. Its the type of machine shop that is hard to find these days and thank God they are still around. (They also do bigger projects)They always took my design concept and if I was working on a budget gave suggestions on how I could use other materials to meet my budget or gave me inside knowledge on improvements. They always were upfront about all costs and when possible gave me options.Ive seen them be very clear with other customers on pricing as well as myself. I have sent at lest a half a dozen friends needing machine work to talk with Theresa and Clayton and all of them were very happy with the work. (If you dont believe me call them they will give you my number and you can call me directly) I wont use anyone else!
Awesome experience, friendly and knowledgeable. Will be back!
