My husband and I first used Soundings in 1994 when they were recommended by our home builder. At that time, we had a very simple system with in-wall speakers installed in our new home. This system more than served our needs at the time. When, in 2005, we purchased a town home with four floors and wanted the ability to play music on all floors separately and/or throughout our home, we immediately thought of Soundings. In addition, we wanted one room devoted to a top notch entertainment experience. As expected, the very knowledgeable staff at Soundings worked with us to design the best, most economical system to fit our needs. The Soundings staff was responsible for the installation and made certain that everything was working as expected. Being older and electronically challenged, my husband and I appreciated the fact that we could call Soundings with any concerns and problems we encountered with our system. Often they could walk us through a solution with having to make a house call. When it came time to upgrade some of the components of our entertainment system, we knew who to call.I cannot emphasize how much we have enjoyed working with all the people at Soundings. After using another well known Denver audio shop for years, I became frustrated with the service and unreliable advice of their staff, so I searched for an alternative as I was embarking on a remodel. Soundings was recommended by a contractor so I called them, met Jeff and others at their store location and in my home. At my request, they quickly put together a wiring proposal based upon a general system design, even though equipment decisions were yet to be made. Within a week, they sent quality techs to the house to get wiring in just ahead of other contractors for me. Brad and his team of technicians were focused, very accommodating and fast! Over the next few weeks, we worked out a plan for installation of new and existing equipment to fit my desires. Brad’s team installed and commissioned the system with dedicated effort and I couldn’t be happier! Not only have they been Johnny on the spot to resolve minor system startup issues that are just part of the process, but they put together a system that integrated better than any system I’ve ever owned or used. Simply the best Audio dealer in the Denver area and I have visited them all. You can expect to enjoy some of the finest sounding systems to be found anywhere, presented perfectly. Pay particular attention to the Master Set service available nowhere else. Rod spent approximately 2 hours at my home positioning my speakers to take best advantage of my room’s characteristics. No new equipment was involved and the effect was stunning. My music collection is begging me to listen to it all, all over again. The most notable changes I have experienced are, base lines that no longer hit over resonant notes that extend deeper and clearer. Much improved stereo image that does not require you to sit precisely in the middle and makes the system sound fantastic anywhere in the room. I can even here the difference when in another room. I can now play at significantly higher volumes without fatigue and without seeming to be playing loader than I was before. This allows the dynamics in whatever your listening to have a whole new level of impact. Also means that conversation while playing loud is absolutely practical.

Building a home theater and have quite a few things I need. Soundings had a few speaker brands I wanted to listen to, but walking in the salespeople were with other people which is fine, but no acknowledgement or hey well be with you in a moment (Im 64wearing a bright orange jacket Im hardly inconspicuous) when one did finish he went to his office to watch YouTube videos. The other salesman tried to say something as I was leaving, but they were obviously too busy. Maybe your experience will be different than mine, they carry nice equipment, but doesnt matter if there is no service. On to other stores to give them my business.

The install guys at Soundings really know their stuff. We had them install our audio video system on the main floor and in the basement of our mountain home. They worked diligently and with the handicap of the ever present mountain issues of less than superior internet and power outages due to weather, they were persistent in getting the system to work smoothly. I know other companies would have given up when faced with some of the technical issues that arose but not Brad and his team. We are very happy we chose Soundings!

I had extremely positive experience at this store. Audiophile stores can be snobbish at times. I have a Pro-ject turntable that needs cartridge setup with proper alignment, VTA and azimuth. I did not buy the table from them. Yet Rod told me to bring the table in. We had good discussions about 2-channel audio. I could tell he is a true audiophile, knows his stuff but still very helpful and humble. There was bit of challenge in setting up my table (for which he had to talk to Pro-ject tech and make mod to his tool), but he spent that time and got everything adjusted. The table actually sounds a bit better now and the best part is he did not charge me anything for all the time spent. When I picked up the table, I asked him again if I owed him anything. He said no and helped me put the table in my car. Now that is service. I highly recommend anyone in the Front Range area to seek out this store. Rod will not disappoint you. HIGHLY recommended!

I have been purchasing equipment from Soundings for over 10 years. I’ve developed friendships with several people who work there during that time. Soundings takes extra pains to sell only equipment they feel is of superior quality. Whether I was buying a pair of Dali speakers for my bedroom system or a pair of Rel subwoofers for my main stereo, Soundings has always had an offering that exceeded my expectations.What makes Soundings different from other hifi audio stores is their Master Set, which takes an enjoyable system and transforms it into a system that gives you goose bumps. After they setup my Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grands and Rel subwoofers, I found myself combing through my music selection to see which of my favorite songs had something I’d never heard before that is unlocked with a properly setup system.

I dont know if i can quite capture my Soundings experience in a review, but here goes. It was nothing short of outstanding. The net of it is that there was never any pressure to buy - i had several interactions with the Soundings team over a period of about 18 months and both times they started with conversations about what I wanted to achieve from all perspectives - equipment, usage (music, film), and aesthetics. And at the outset of both interactions, they wanted simply to visit my home so they could understand the environment in which i was working.After the first interaction, i did nothing other than completely change my plans as i was in the midst of re-modeling my basement where i was planning to put the A/V equipment - most of which i already possessed.Once i completed that, i returned to Soundings and started over with Mark, who happened to be at the store when I arrived. Again, never any pressure to buy, but simply a conversation about what i wanted to do. At that point, most of it was related to A/V furniture and installation of a TV. We decided to add a subwoofer and replace some of the builder furnished in ceiling speakers. Once it was delivered and installed, then the fun really began.The Soundings master set process is truly amazing. I refer to the Soundings team now as the Sounder Whisperers. My stereo has never sounded so good. Mark arrived with several known source materials (audio and film) and we proceeded to spend several hours listening and using an organized process, making what are seemingly infinitesimally small movements in the placement of front, center, and sub speakers. This process truly fit the equipment to the room and sounded superb.Even though I was satisfied - i could still tell a difference in my 20+ year old equipment compared to some of the equipment i had listened to in the store. Moreover, my speakers were a little large for the space. Thus, i returned to the store, was encouraged to bring some source material, and then simply spent some time in one of the rooms and listened.To make a long story short, I decided to upgrade both my speakers and A/V receiver. It was a two step process as i didnt quite believe that the electronics could make such a huge difference in sound, but it was truly amazing. After a few months to let the equipment settle in, we repeated the master set process and I now have a sound system that matches the full sound i heard at the store.Whether its listening to audio or watching a movie - the experience is wonderful. As i said, there was never any pressure to buy anything, just conversations around what i wanted to achieve. Certainly there are different price points to consider, but they have really done all of the research for you and what youll find at Soundings is remarkable sound at each of their budget levels and a great staff that is truly interested in helping you achieve your A/V goals. All in all an outstanding experience.

I took my own music and we listened to it on each of the systems until I found exactly what I was looking for. The speakers I bought were delivered promptly and professionally. I call Shanker and the team here my sound Yodas! Its amazing what they know and what they can do to produce almost life-altering sound. Their Master Set system is so hard to explain to people because it almost sounds like voodoo magic when I try. But listening to music you already know is a completely different experience. I think most people that have heard the system they installed for me have never heard sound and music like that. And watching movies is totally immersive. Ive had numerous people watch The Greatest Showman on the system and Ive had reactions from hairs standing on end, to people holding their breath, to a standing ovation from my friends son for the concert hall scene (Never Enough).I also love their passion that is not about selling a product. My first interaction with them was almost 2 hours of talking about sound waves and theories and the purpose and effect of the speakers, subwoofers and placement, etc... We didnt talk about a single product the whole time but just listened to music and watched clips of movies to see what the speakers can do. Theyll work with whatever budget you have but have a passion to squeeze out the very best result no matter what you decide you can afford. Ive bought some nice audiophile pieces and pieced together home theater setups myself in the past. But these guys are on a whole different level.

Ive been collecting music for 30+ years. Collecting music has never been more interesting. The amount of music thats become available is astonishing: out of print classical, digitized V discs, Bear Family country catalogs, cassette only remixes, regional small labels, unreleased material I thought Id never hear, and many more.I put together my first good system with a lot of research from periodicals like High Fidelity and Audio Magazine (clearly a long time ago). Since then I’ve replaced every piece, often more than once, either expanding or upgrading the system a little at a time. I was able to keep up, to some degree, until about 5 years ago. The technology explosion that has driven the incredible availability of music had also made made my system far too complex. Integrating my computer, cable box, wireless network, so-called smart TV, home theater, streaming services, AppleTV, and network speakers had been a frustrating process, with a lot mistakes and wasted money and time. I needed help.Soundings was exactly the help I needed. They put together a new foundational system for me. They included several components I already owned and linked everything together. Negotiated all the hidden DRM and compatibility issues that frustrated me. New speakers (I am amazed how much better speakers have gotten) and positioned them correctly. Set up a Harmony remote control, replacing the seven remotes I used to use with a single remote. They were friendly, knowledgeable professionals that did a great job keeping in contact and spending the time to make sure everything came together. Im very happy and satisfied and know Ill be using Soundings in the future for whatever comes next. My music sounds better (and is easier to access) than ever. Thanks Mark!

Its hard to properly review this place. As far as the equipment they have, its great, and its always fun to listen whats out there. But my experience was extremely disappointing. Look up Audio Woo on rationalwiki to prepare yourself for the lies youll be told here.I only talked to one person there, so maybe the rest are better, but the guy I talked to was extremely elitist in addition to being scientifically incorrect about most of what he said. At one point he asked if I had any music, and I said that I did and we should connect an aux cable to my phone. He said something along the lines of well I have a $5000 DAC, youre not going to be doing the equipment any justice coming from your phone. What does he think a DAC actually does? You dont need to spend more than $100 to get one every bit as good as a five billion dollar one would be.I feel bad for anyone who actually listens to these guys, theyre just taking advantage of people to make money from selling products that are overpriced and offer zero audible improvements over devices 1/10 the price. Things that actually DO make a difference are the speakers, and this is why they get the extra star, because they do have some of the best speakers possible. Other than that, you just need to make sure you have an amp with sufficient power for your speakers and low distortion (my 7 channel Monolith amp was $1600, which isnt cheap, but it can power literally any speaker that youd ever want with no degradation in sound quality at ALL compared to whatever $50,000 craziness theyd want to sell you).Acoustics in your room also make a gigantic difference, but the misleading/misinformed salesperson seemed to think that was the one thing that almost never help as long as the speakers were placed optimally. SO much fail from this place. Not to mention he believed SACDs are better than CDs. Such a facepalm, hes telling me he can hear the difference, but he doesnt realize thats akin to telling me he can hear the difference of the number 4 when 1+3 was used to get that number vs when 2+2 was used. No, you cant hear the difference because it isnt there. However, many SACDs have been mastered differently than their originals, so when THAT happens, then sure, youll hear a difference. Just not because of the sampling rate or bit depth.This place needs to stop perpetuating audio myths. Its disgusting.

I had initially posted a positive review here that I had forgotten about. That review was written when I first met Soudingss. Since that time I have purchased a lot of gear from Soundings and have not been treated well. There have been issues and problems with everything they have sold me and their service.

Have to give a big thank you to Shanker for his help with my network. Soundings put in a Packedge router 2 years ago and has work perfect until last night. One text at 6PM and Shanker logged in made a few adjustment and it was back to running perfect. Than above he ask if he could do a few setting adjustments to make it faster. I could not be more happy with this team!! Thanks Shanker and Soundings team!!!!!! nothing but 5 stars!

Ive been a long time dreamer with regard to audio. I stumbled upon Soundings years ago, and have since led a parade of friends, family and at one point, even a boy scout troop, into Rods store to hear what music should be.After outgrowing my original system (also purchased through Soundings), I began working with them to set up the ideal end-game system, for my budget, anyway, for our family room. Mark was able to take the components Id assembled from near and far and make them into a cohesive whole with the Master Set service they provide. Also, they were able to special order two white RELs to complement not only the speakers, but the kitchen and make my wife really happy... from the looks, AND the sound.After listening, both casually and with serious intent, I have yet to not be utterly relaxed and lost in the music when I sit down. Vast improvement in consistency, equal-octave response and in the ease of playback.Heres to you guys - thanks for being patient as we dithered and second-guessed ourselves. Could not ask for a better sounding system.*** Addition ***My turntable died several months ago, and I worked with Rod to find out what would work best with my system as a replacement He stepped me through the theory and opened my eyes to the need for a proper setup, then delivered exactly that on the EAT turntable. Its going on 200 hours of play now, and I couldnt be happier. Viva analog!*** addition again! ***Moved the hifi setup upstairs to a custom listening room several months ago (late 2018), which necessitated a new Master Set. Id messed with settings and calibration for several months before calling Soundings in, and never could get it to just click in place with the room where the music was a thing of ease and essence. Mark was able to come out and integrate the Focals with their paired RELs into a beautiful, organic whole. Amazing what a trained set of hands and ears can do.*** Addition, October of 2020 ***I accidentally upgraded my speakers to a beautiful set of Vienna Acoustics The Musics, and Jeff and Jess from Soundings did the honors of the master set after letting me audition them in the store at length. Its now the kind of system that makes me lose my train of thought mid-conversation because of the bushes and emotion in the music and how effortlessly its presented. Ive got depth to the soundstage now that takes no magic to hear. Balanced sound in the room regardless of where we are sitting. Its... Stunning.At the end of a dismal year, this is medicine for melancholy. I keep interrupting my wife to make her come hear something new, and this is more than Id ever hoped for in nearly thirty years of chasing Hifi. Go see them. Trust them when they suggest something that seems esoteric. They know what theyre about.- Ryan

I went to seven stores in the Denver area specializing in home entertainment in order to install a home theater. All were lacking in one respect or another. Then I found Soundings where I worked with Shanker Wiegel and Rod Thomson, the owner. What a difference ! Shanker and Rod love music and film and live and breathe sound systems and home theater. They carry only audio and video equipment that they have tested and vetted. They have sound systems and home theaters with different price points with equipment that works together. They advocate more than one subwoofer in a theater if your budget allows it for the best sound reproduction - which truly makes a difference. They employ what they call a Master Set to integrate the equipment and position the speakers in a room to account for the rooms unique acoustics to achieve the best sound. After the equipment was installed, Shanker and Rod spent an afternoon in my home doing a Master Set. They positioned and balanced the subwoofers and speakers while playing selected music and movie soundtracks over and over again until they had optimized the sound, stereophonic sound and surround sound. Working with Shanker and Rod was a pleasure and the most enjoyable experience I have had buying anything. I was confident in their expertise and recommendations. I was never hurried or pressured to spend more than I wanted to. In fact, they helped me stay within my budget. They delivered what they promised - an exceptional state-of-the-art home theater.
