Very helpful staff. Decent selection of fabric, craft items, and decor.

Original review from December 2019:To be fair, I was looking for specific cotton/cotton blend yarn and crochet thread options. But what I did find, was twice as expensive as the same thing at Walmart across the street.I took a few pictures of some of them, as well as other things to remember what they had, so Ill share what was available as of 12/20/19But plus side, the strip mall seems to be at least half dead, so you are very likely to get a good parking spot...Edit September 2020:I recent visited this store again, this time looking for a water proof fabric for some projects. The staff was super helpful, when I asked for help. But there were also more staff in the store than customers at the time. When they werent helping me, they mostly stood around talking to each other...

Shopping here made my day, not only did they help me find the items I wanted but then helped me download the app and save money. Love it there and will definitely go back. Made a trip to this store 2 times this month, drove from over an hour away, so worth it! I bought way too much but fabrics are gorgeous. Update: still love the store but after going there several times Ive dealt with a couple unpleasant workers who seem to get irritated if you dont buy more than half a yard, even if you buy 20 different prints, thought it was up to the customer to buy what they needed and not the worker who is put there to do a job, not grouch at the customer.

What a great place with great employees that are so helpful and actually know a lot about the products they sell and their job! Highly recommend going here for all your craft and sewing needs! Ask for Amanda or Joelle!

Wasnt possible to rate a zero besides their joke of an inventory they also have rude snobby employees who clearly profile people. I may not look like your local craft lady but they couldnt be anymore incorrect there cause I use art in a variety of forms for my child who has severe anxiety. I was beyong uncomfortable being followed around the store and eye balled by their 6 employees which seems excessive with no customers but one can only assume lack of inventory was the exact cause of lack of customers.

Always a fun and interesting shopping trip at this JoAnn store!

I mean, its the place they sell discounted craft stuff. Tbh, this one is a little smaller than the one over in WDSM, but its still got a good collection of sewing stuff. I wouldnt recommend looking for yarn here tho, not a huge selection. I got buttons, which they have plenty of.

Called to see if they had the Sullivan Quilting Table in the store. She verified they did and quoted the price. I stated that was more than online. The online price was only for online purchases. Went to store as I didnt want to wait for delivery. Employee was very nice, I didnt get her name. She loaded the table on to a two wheeler, took to check out, while I picked out a light to go with the desk. Employee checked for coupons for me, saved me $66. I got the table and the light for less than the price she quoted me on the phone. Ended up giving me the table for online price. She even helped my husband load the table in the truck. Supreme Customer Service. Thank you so much.

The deals were superb but the staff working today were unfortunately not. I did an online order and after waiting 5 to 6 hours without a confirmation notice that it was ready, I decided to go pick it up as I had other errands to run for the hectic Holiday. As I waited for my order to be prepared I received a mini lecture from 2 seperate staffers about next time waiting until they send me a confirmation email. Okay.. next time I will avoid the online ordering altogether and save myself from unnecessary banter.

I LOVE JOANN FABRICS! I wouldnt get my sewing supplies anywhere else. They know their stuff and have always been helpful when/if I have a question. I recently bought a sewing machine there and they made sure I got the best deal on it and worked with me to find a coupon. (Which I thought was awesome). Hands down. Best sewing supply store around.

The manager at the Southside store, Suella, was horrible! She acted like we were imposing on her! No friendly customer service; she was very rude AND condescending. God forbid you actually want guidance for a project. We just inquirid about pricing and measurements! You would be better served going to Hobby Lobby or Walmart!

I went to pick up a few sewing instruments and found them. I even got a coupon for my next shoping trip.

The floors are so very dirty! Its very hard to get through the isles with my scooter its so cluttered! The Ankeny store is much better and the one on the south side of Des Moines is the best!!!!

The ladies that work at Joanns, on SE 14th Street in Des Moines, are so nice and so helpful! They were very patient with me when I didnt know what length of fabric I needed. They even measured my project for me, to tell how much fabric I would need to finish my project. Then when the fabric I picked out wasnt going to work, I started to panic. They helped find the perfect fabric that I would have never picked, but looks awesome and compliments my project beautifully. Hats off to Susan! You were my lifesaver yesterday!

Just go to Hobby Lobby. The one older lady with glasses and blonde hair seemed so plastic in helping me as a customer. Too bad she passed by me the first time and gave me a dirty look. What, do I look like some weirdo to you, when I am supporting YOUR paycheck?? One star it is then.

Good sale prices although I think the everyday prices are a bit high. Great selection of fabric and staff is helpful. There is often a wait at the cutting table.

This is one of the smallest Joann stores that Ive been to. The home decor fabric selection is a joke and the craft section is very, very small. If youre looking for basic sewing notions, this is your spot. However, I wont be coming back to this location.

Bad trip tip joanns... I used to like shopping at joanns but not so much anymore. The coupons they send in a txt or email or on their app are worthless. No way to possibly use your coupons.. Every time I go to use one it is always rejected. Now this time says 25% off of clearance yarn that was in a clearance bin and i was told it didnt belong in that area even though there was 2 crates of them there. This place is really becoming a money gimmick place. I WISH i could have Hancock fabrics back. The app will be deleted and txt will be blocked, I have had enough of the game.

Great place whether youre just running in for a few items or doing some serious shopping. Parking is a breeze. And, the employees are very helpful.

It always has what I am looking for and the staff is always great.

All systems were down so they had to keep my order until it could be rang up as I dont live in dsm so will have to drive back to get it monday. They say this happens more and more so no good experience for customer or employees if head office can get all stores updated the same.

The ladies here were very nice and helpful. I was able to find what I was looking for and then some.Their customer service was superb and I will definitely come back to shop here next time I come to visit from Texas.Thank you ladies!

Great small store. Not very noticable if your not looking for it. Its hidden off in the far corner if the parking lot next to officemax. They have good sales and carry a variety of things related to artistice hobbys such as sewing and scrapbooking. Plenty of parking, friendly staff, and usually not crowded. Nice small store that carry common merchanduse you might find in this type of hobby store.
