Went here to sell our bikes. Even though we got hardly anything for them, he took them off our hands. Lots of old, not in the greatest shape bikes. Most were overpriced as well.

I started out my morning not knowing anything about bikes besides what I rode BMX style back in my youth. I went to the Bicycle Collective in the East Village and after exahausting their small stock of used bikes, they pointed me in the direction of Freds. I arrived at Freds and was immediately greeted by personal and professional help by Fred himself. After explaining what the other shop had me try, I attempted to test ride a LARGE variety of bikes. On a whim, he had me try a road bike for the first time just to see if I like that style and I fell in love. I never once felt unintelligent or ignored when I brought up my opinions on each model and Fred worked extremely hard to provide the best possible service and ride for my commute. After finding the model I liked, we also were able to find a saddle, extra brake levers, fenders, a rack, and lights that work so I will have a full commute bike ready when the work is finished here in a few days. I will definitely return to Freds when I start my search for a winter bike, need a tune-up, or require a repair. Thank you so much for the amazing experience!EDIT: Fred told me it would be a few days for everything to get put on but he messaged me and informed me that my bike was ready today, not even 24 hours from when I purchased it. Again, amazing service that is HIGHLY recommended!

Well that was the most unprofessional and disrespectful encounter I have ever experienced as a customer.Walk in with my bike and I am sent to the back to have the mechanic take a look. Says nothing to me at all, then walks the bike he is working on past me to the front (says nothing). Only greets me when he gets back. I work in the service industry and Deal with angry people but I have thick skin and it never gets to me but this was another level. I know customers can be annoying sometimes and you slip up here and there but it seemed like he was mad at me when I started walking my bike to the back. But you have to control yourself If you want to get customers to return and recommend you.I have a decently expensive bike and would prefer to have it handled with care. When removing the tire he slammed my rim on the ground and was stepping on it almost bending the disc brake in the process.What he did next is what made my decision to never go to Fred’s again and to never recommend Fred’s to anyone ever again.He couldn’t get the tire off and I was standing in the area waiting, he starts shoeing me away with his hand, I think he is waving me in to help get the tire off so I start to step forward and he looks up at me with a very angry face and says “just go do something else!” while shoeing me away with his hand again. I have nothing else I want to buy so I end up just staring at a wall for like 10 mins while he fixes the tire.I wanted to go back and just tell him I’m taking my bike somewhere else and walk out with my bike but I needed it done as son as possibleThe tube he put in my bike has a stem that looks completely different from my other tube and is not threaded like my other tube.The energy he had was very angry, aggressive and made me feel unwelcome.I do not feel comfortable recommending Fred’s. How can I when I don’t feel confident in the work that was done on my bike.

Great place to bring your bike to. I am biking across america. My chain broke in the middle of nowhere. He suggested I call triple a. I was a premiere member. I forgot about that. I got the ride to the bike shop. The mechanic looked after me immediately. And it was great service. More than 5 star!!

If you need a tire repair for a kids bike this is the place to go. Not only did Fred get us right in, he was great with kids. He fixed my grandsons tire in no time at all. He also took the time to show my little granddaughter how to ride without training wheels. Overall it was a great experience. I would definitely go back and suggest others too as well!

I received VERY unprofessional & rude service by Brad at Freds. He does not put the customer first & I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FREDS TO ANYONE, HERES WHY: First off, I dropped off my bike for a tune up & was told it would take 5-6 days to complete - they would contact me when it was complete. after 7 days, I called to see if it was done, and they told me itd been done for days but they forgot to call me. also he was closing early that day so I needed to wait until the weekend to pick it up. being as my bike is my main form of transportation this was quite frustrating to hear. brads only response was sorry. when I picked it up, the only difference I noticed was it was cleaner so I asked Brad what all hed done to it, his response was uhhhh, cleaned it & adjusted the handlebars & the gears (or something like that). it was still making weird noises so I took it to another bike shop in town & they said it didnt look like the gears had been tuned up at all & proceeded to tune it up for me. when I brought it back to Freds to tell him my experience he was, again, extremely rude. he said he refused to give me a refund and didnt care what another bike mechanic said about my bike. brad also said that if the other mechanic wanted to call him & tell him what he did wrong, that they can but I will not be giving you a refund. further drove home the fact that he is extremely unprofessional, rude, & does not put the customer first.

If you dont want to spend a ton of money on a new bike Freds has a tremendous inventory of used bicycles that are all very reasonably priced. Plus, theres no big bike shop attitude here. Spend what you can afford on the bike you want not what some so-called pro rider tells you to spend or what to buy. Relax and have fun at Freds.

Love Freds! Great, personal service, always looking out for the customer. Willing to order anything thats not available in the store, and prices are right in line with other shops around town. They offer classes and other events at the store, so check those out! Close to the bike trail and plenty of free parking available.

Brad is literally the best. I know very little about bikes, but he walked me through a lot, and NEVER -- on my multiple visits displaying my lack of bike knowledge -- made me feel foolish. He genuinely wants to make sure you and your bike are the right fit in every which way, and that you get what you want out of your bike. Extremely affordable prices, great selection, and incredible service. HIGHLY recommend This bike shop.

WARNING. Google hours are wrong. Opens at 10am all days.But worth the wait. Got a bike here last fall. Love it! Love the selection. But mostly the service. Owner-operator makes a difference to this customer! Brads terrific.

I’m editing my previous post to say while my first experience at Fred’s put a sour taste in my mouth. After a few months I finally decided to comeback around. I’ve been back twice now for small things. I don’t think I would trust them to do any big fixes to my bike. But it’s an easy location to get to, they have a decent amount of stock and I usually never have to wait more then a minute to be helped with.Maybe my opinion of them will change again over time. So if it’s for you go for it. But I still think their are better places to go.

What an awesome place! Brought my bike in for routine service, some gearing issues and had some questions about ride height. Very helpful folks working there with a true passion for biking.

Great shop. Have dealt with them on multiple occasions for everything from a complete bike build to more ordinary service and have been happy each time. Other shops in town have been hit or miss as far as attitude of staff goes (sometimes great, sometimes condescending jerkiness), but the staff at Freds has been consistently helpful and collaborative in their approach to whatever my issue is. Highly recommended.

Went in to look at a bike they were selling on craigslist, once i discovered it was not a single speed the dude found me one for 100 bucks cheaper, he was super friendly and they had alot of cool unique bikes there. two thumbs up.

Went in to get brake issue resolved, guy working seemingly fixed it, and rather quickly - he charged me $20 and I was glad to pay. The same brake issue resurfaced just minutes after riding away. I took bike back the next day and asked for a complete tuneup and for $20 off tune-up price, which I thought reasonable, he said no: was your bike working when you left the store? he snarkily replied. Rubbed me the wrong way. Been happily going to Rasmussen from then on. They do have some nice stuff in there, and I did like going there before this particular encounter - so two stars.

Great Bike Shop. I had a mechanical issue that I couldn’t fix on my own but the owner was there to help every step of the way.

I discovered right after getting a deal on the tires I bought here that the deal I was told I was getting was about $20 more than anywhere else, that I could have gotten the same tires. Online prices were even lower. But mainly my fault for not doing research.
