Very bright and inviting inside the #DSMBREW. I love the decor its inside of a building but when you walk in it feels like it stands on its own. Grace is always a pleasure to talk to. The coffee is delicious and the gelato is a must try. Theres open mic sorry but I dont know for sure the day and time. Its another reason to stop in. I got a black coffee that was good. Staff is always very nice. The best seats for a coffee shop in all if Iowa. Theres a couch, chairs with a table if you need to do paperwork or be on your laptop & comfy chairs. Also the gelato is so good! Ive got had any pastries yet but they look good.

Its expensive and they take their time making the drinks but the place looks really fresh, clean, and open. I got a hazelnut latte and it was delicious and well made.

Cool location and modern environment. Plenty of outlets, coffee is good, food is up to par. However I noticed it got very cold inside and even with a coat I eventually had to leave to find a warmer cafe. I do wish there was free parking close so I could work for longer periods of time but Im happy they validate an hour of parking.

We had a nice quick trip for coffee this morning! We were acknowledged right away, which is great customer service! Probably the best Caramel Frappe ever! Also love all of their flavors for coffee, etc! Had to try a Lavender Latte! Also love that they had a small breakfast buffet going on, sandwiches available, donuts, other desserts, & gelato! Love the interior! Very cool place!

Nice coffee shop with friendly staff on the south side of Downtown Des Moines. I was able to get some work done while sipping on a latte and eating a few donuts (only ate more than one since they gave me a freebie!). Would visit again on a future visit to Des Moines.

Not a good experience on a average Sunday, place was not too busy and no one picked the phone. Ordered nitro coffee and it seems they do not understand the concept, one of the 2 coffee had no head the second one was just blasted with nitrogen the coffee tasted like an average cold brew left a lot to be desired as a nitro coffee. Wont repeat

Thought I would try out DSM brew coffee. Arrived at 7:40 and placed my order. 7:58 rolls around and I still dont have my frappe but 3 other customers that ordered 7-10 minutes after me all have their drinks. I go up to the counter to ask about my drink as 4 employees are just standing behind the counter. She looks around and finds my drink order just sitting there not even all the way finished. No apology or anything. I proceeded to have to wait another 8 minutes to get my coffee.. Will not be returning. If you want quality customer service/ coffee this is not the place you want to spend your money.

Locally owned coffee shop with the catch phrase Get Woke. They provide the tools: good espresso drinks, upbeat modern atmosphere, supporting community improvement and social justice. You can park free for 30 minutes, and 2 hours with validation. I would stay longer if the parking wasnt so expensive

Wanted to try something new it was a two for one special. I cant remember what I ordered it was flavored espresso though. They have gelato but I didnt try it on this trip. About the same price as Starbucks or anywhere else. I didnt really like the selection of drinks. I also didnt like its not easily accessible unless you live downtown but if you do Im sure its a better experience. I thought it was decent enough but wouldnt go out of my way.

Waited a long time for only 3 small regular coffees which werent even good quality and definitely way overpriced. The bite size scones are priced for $4.50 each! Definitely not going back to this place.

Great little coffee shop. Staff was very friendly and helpful and everything was clean and comfortable. I could give it a higher rating if parking werent so expensive and brewed coffee refills were free.

Everything seemed so good,it was hard to choose. Loved the pistachio gelato,and very kid friendly. The Carmel macchiato espresso was very wonderful.

Nice enough place, but not a good place to do work. Has a terrible parking set up for a coffee shop that looks like it would be a good place to get work done or meet up with people. You get two hours free with validation, but exactly on the two hour mark you’ll get charged $5 and it’s $5 for every hour. I accidentally lost track of time and left right on the 2 hour mark, but was still charged. Also, I couldn’t get a receipt for the parking and the automatic ticket machine appeared to be having some problems when I was trying to exit, so I had to leave without a receipt. It can also get very noisy in there, more so than your average coffee shop. Unless you live or work in the area and are walking to this place or just looking to sit down for a bit, I would recommend just going to another coffee place. DSM is clean and spacious with good coffee, but not special enough to warrant the extra hassle. It’s too bad because it seems like it could have a lot of potential for getting work done. If you’re going for leisure and gelato though, I’d recommend this place!

For Mother’s Day we had an afternoon tea at DSM Brew. I was very displeased with the entire experience. First, we had a reservation and the staff was not prepared for us and asked us to leave for awhile while they could prepare a table for us. ​Second, we had to bring attention to staff when we were out of water (for our tea) or for refills on endless champagne. Finally, they mistakenly served us a vegetarian meal when we had not chosen that option. When we informed staff of their mistake they did nothing to rectify the situation. Normally, I would chalk this up to a “lesson learned” experience. However, our total price for this was around $120. Between the customer service, food, and not be ready for a reservation. This was completely unacceptable and me and my family will not be returning. Save yourself the hassle if you are wanting an afternoon tea, as this is clearly not an establishment worth visiting.

The parking situation is horrible for a cafe that looks like you could actually sit down and get some work done. I’ve also only had average coffee from here. Both the beans that I took home to prepare in my usual manner, and the coffee I ordered in store, were not worth the price and hassle. Just wish they’d validate parking for longer because it’s a super cute and comfortable interior where I could easily see myself working a few hours, if it weren’t for the fact it’s $5 an hour to park nearby.

Finally got to try this place out and had one of the best cold brews Ive ever had! Its a really cool place that will definitely make you want to come back.

Coffee was good. I ordered a Carmel latte but they accidentally put half vanilla and half Carmel but it turned out very good. I recommend the half Carmel half vanilla latte. Very cute and clean place.

A coffee shop that opened in March of 2017. You walk into a very open, inviting space and really friendly staff. They serve coffee, smoothies, gelato and mimosas. There was an open mic night going on when I went in that was entertaining with a good mix of singing, rap, and poetry. However there was profane language in some of the performances. Service dogs are welcome, but pets are not allowed in the building.

Good coffee, fast and friendly staff, fast internet speed and comfortable seating. It has a very modern contemporary feel to it. Outdoor seating is good in the summer but sometimes the motorcycle traffic on can be a bit loud as it travels down SW 3rd. Additionally the outdoor music competes with Fuzzys Taco next door. It would probably be better if the businesses decided on who would play the music at what time. Regardless of the music/motorcycle issues, I really enjoy the place

It was hard to come by tables at the time I went in which is frustrating when you have friends instead of a laptop and want to talk with them but the tables are taken for 1 person. They validated our parking but we went over by a few minutes and had to pay $5 instead of the $10 it would have been without validation. We liked our teas and coffee well enough. The atmosphere is tacky with get woke decor while we throw our disposable cups in the trash...

I stopped by for a medium size light house blend brew. I had a great cup of coffee. I enjoyed the ultra modern design of the coffeeshop. The neon signs and stark white walks and unfinished ceilings and plain grey concrete floors give the place an edgy feeling.

This place has the best Coffee. Way better than Starbucks. Love it and I want to come again.

Wonderful atmosphere, and features beginning or local artists in the decor.The flavor selection for coffee is more expansive than most coffee shops - in addition to the standard sweet flavors DSM Brew also carries fruity and floral options. The food and gelato are delicious and reasonably priced. My usual order is a large Blackberry and Lavender soy latte and a large straciatella gelato, and I spend around 10 dollars before tip.There is an Open Mic night weekly on Thursdays and theyve recently fixed the previous issues they had with their sound system for the event.

The owner thinks hes the only one who has a weapon on him that pulls it out on a group bikes for them not getting a parking ticket. I would not spend a dime at this establishment, the owner is a trigger happy douche nossle thats just want to be in power do not go!

This is a great place to study - electrical outlets at every table, dependable wifi, bright natural light, friendly staff. There is a simple, but high quality selection of coffee and espresso drinks including nitro cold brew coffee. There is a small selection of food, like a grilled wrap, soup, and baked goods, but they also dont mind if you bring food from any of the neighboring places in with you either.

Nice place with good coffee. Went and did some homework, it was a good atmosphere with some fun tunes playing. Overall, a good experience!

DSM Brew is a fantastic place to get a great cup of coffee. Gelato is fantastic - you’re not going to find a dessert this good anywhere in Des Moines! The decor is modern and it’s a great place to chill out for a minute or two as you enjoy the beautiful downtown of Des Moines! Don’t forget to sign up for the loyalty program as they have some great rewards! Staff is amazingly friendly and give excellent service!

Ordered iced Americanos, tasted great. Employees were very friendly, if not a little slow. I docked 2 stars because the only reason Ive gone is to try the nitro coffee, and all 3 times, it has not been available. Also, I have been trying to look for updates via social media, and theyre not as on top of it as I would expect from a new biz. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt since theyre new, but Im disappointed so far.

I come here for their regular coffee. Always better than, or at worst, on par with Starbucks, and similarly priced. Their gelato is hands down some of the best ice cream I have ever had.

The coffee is always delicious, my personal favorite is the nitro. The gelato is definitely good and the selections are broad enough to please everyone but the portions are small.

This is a Nice modern space in a rehabbed industrial building. The atmosphere is comfortable, the service is great, and the coffee is fantastic.

I tried the nitro. I couldnt tell any difference from any other type Ive ever had. YMMV I like the decor, and my kids loved the cold chocolate smoothie thingy.

Took a long time to get coffee. I think its because everyone is still new since they just opened. I got the house blend, its pretty good.

Rode our bikes here to get some gelato and relax a bit. There is a bike rack near the outdoor entrance, but it was full, so we pulled out bikes into a mulched area (absolutely nothing growing). Out of nowhere, some man comes out of DSM Brew (wearing their t-shirt), and begins to completely demean us for parking our bikes there. Then, he proceeds to say “I don’t know if people can’t read signs, or what, but we have a brand new bike rack over there”, and then points to a location way on the other side of the building. First, it was a printed piece of paper in not so large font that was taped ON TOP OF A SIGN THAT SAYS BIKE PARKING. Second, I apologized more than once and said I am very sorry, but I honestly didn’t see the sign, or I would not have tried to park my bike there. He insults me again by saying “we are TRYYYYYIIIING to grow flowers here, but they obviously won’t grow because of people like you”. Really? Eff you, but I have been coming here since you opened and there are no flowers that have ever grown there. Third, we are not leaving our expensive bikes in some parking lot where we cannot see them. The longer I thought about this, the more upset I became over our treatment. I have never in my life left a review, but the insinuations regarding our intelligence were ridiculous and completely uncalled for. All he had to do was say “Hey, would you mind not parking here, we’re trying to grow flowers in this area” (which is questionable, at best). BE NICE, it’s really not that difficult. You have lost a customer, DSM Brew, you’re garbage, and that’s exactly where my frequency card will be. We went next door to Fuzzy’s and got a two dollar beer instead.

The gelato is great but the staff is slow and often forgets your order or gets the next person in lines gelato before yours. As other reviewers mentioned, the cold brew wasnt available when I went in (both the regular and nitro). The atmosphere is great. Plenty of seating and unique artwork fills the wall. A great place to work or study. Its a shame, this place has a lot of potential, but they need to sort out their service issues first.

Very disappointed.As with all coffee shops I visit, i have a barometer, and my first order is always exactly the same... and I emphasize it. This is how I order: Can I have an extra-extra dry cappucino? Like, BONE DRY! Can you do that?And he responded, Yes, ofcourse! And I believed him.I got a wet latte. Why the hell are you working in a coffee shop if you dont know the difference, first of all, between a cappuccino and a latte... and second of all, if you dont understand the basic jargon. You do know what DRY means, dont you? You didnt even froth the milk. You warmed it up. How do you expect to produce the micro-foam that is required for a dry drink if you dont FROTH THE MILK?Im just done. Sick and tired of fake cafes in Iowa with fake-istas who only know how to push a button and mix the liquid that comes out with milk.

People were nice and took the time to explain the difference between the nitro and normal brews and offered up opinions on the gelato. Place is quite loud.. had a hard time hearing the conversation with those at our table.

They still dont have Nitro Brew - which is supposed to be their main staple (or so thats what they have been hyping up). Every time Im in there, Im not the only person to ask for their nitro coffee, and another customer leaves disappointed. Good coffee but not quite sure they know how to run a successful business yet. The atmosphere is awesome, I was really excited the first time I came into the store because it had a great feel and potential. Since then, I have only been disappointed. The latte & americano I ordered was good but nothing I cant get anywhere else. I keep thinking I need to give it another try, but every time I go to their social media or website, they dont have updates posted about when they are going to have this special brew. Im still anxious to try the nitro brew, but I hope it meets the expectation that has been growing after each disappointed visit.

As per usual, amazing staff that greeted is when we came in. We ordered a pink dot (my favorite donut ever), pistachio gelato (this place has THE BEST), and a chai latte. All were super yummo!
