Place is always good. People are friendly. Usually go thru the drive up. Unique drinks. They have fresh food. Shakes or smoothies. This place is now part of my morning coffee routine.

Chai and hot coco was good and I think its super cool that they have a chess table, but honestly I would skip out on the food, its nothing special.

This is my fave coffee place. Theyre caramel french vanilla frappé is better than other coffee chains 😉

Java Joes on Douglas. I live in this neighborhood, so I stop by a decent amount to this place. Ive always found it clean and the baristas to be very friendly. Is it the best coffee in the metro? Of course not. Is it the worst? No even close, otherwise I wouldnt come back.They keep their food menu up next to the register, so you have to ask for it. I find this annoying. To anyone not familiar with the place, they might not even know they have real food options like the breakfast skillet I ordered, or the egg platter my friend got. I added on a side of rye toast, and enjoyed a chai latte with my meal. Best chai latte ever? No. But pretty good, nonetheless. I was pretty impressed with my bowl, though. Lots of gooey cheese, peppers and onions, and chunks of bacon. The toast was really good, too!Its clean, friendly, the food is good, and so is the coffee. If you are in the area, check it out and it might become a staple for you. They have a punch card for frequent flyers, but you have to do better than me and not forget to use it every time. 😉 I wouldnt drive across town for this place, though.

Staff is friendly, prices are reasonable, coffee and breakfast were good.

Service on food can be slow through the drive through, but the bagels and breakfast sandwiches are amazing.

AWFUL! The food is pathetic and the coffee is very stale. Only reason I went here because its right down the road, I regret every 10 minutes I stayed here! They consistently have ants or roaches in the guest area or kitchen, and it smells awful. One time I found CRACK in the dumpster nearby. Terrible! Never go here.

I go to the coffee shop quite a bit I usually tip pretty well I give them a $20 and tell them keep the change for my coffee basically and the coffee today was so nasty that I’m not going back ever again. #YouHadOneJob

If sweet coffee is your thing, Java Joes has you covered. A nice laid back place to get a little work done. They have some good pastries but if none of those tickle your fancy, there is the Donut Hut conveniently located just across the street. For those that live in the area, I could see making this a 1-2 stop on at least a weekly basis.I stopped here on vacation and witnessed a manager or the owner interacting with his employees, they seem like nice people and that’s always good to see.

The best coffee shop I’ve attended in the Urbandale area! You will not be disappointed! From a very friendly staff to a delicious sandwich, pastry and a nice cup of coffee! Their variety of tasty pastries is amazing! Just about every day they have something new just depending on what mood you’re in. Their soup of the day is excellent as well. My favorite is the chicken tortilla and creamy potato soup. I can keep going on about this place because that’s just how great it is.

I just ordered the breakfast scramble and an asiago bagel toasted. It was delicious.

I would normally give them 5 stars, but Im wondering if they are under new management or hired new team members & didnt give them proper training or what. Ive been coming here for years & always order a raspberry chocolate frap. The past 3 times Ive went there, they either said they dont sell them anymore or they dont know how to make it.

My daughter loves this place, so she brought me here to buy one of their frozen coffee drinks... Im glad she did, they are awesome! The perfect amount of dark roasted coffee flavor and cream in a thick rich frozen treat! Im hooked! Now, if she (we) could only remember the name of the drink she keeps buying! Ive never tried any of the food, but my brother says the sandwiches are also really good!

Came in after work around 1:30 and a super happy and friendly little gal served me a grilled cheese with peppers on this delicious wheat bread, I think she even sprinkled some seasoning on top. Great place to unwind after a long day, glad to have it in the beaverdale neighborhood.

The two sisters that work there are just a joy. Besides the great coffee and food, the welcoming and encouraging atmosphere they create make it a pleasure to stop every time.

Updating my review:I stop by at least 2-3 times a week. The ladies that work at the window are seriously amazing! They always ask about things happening in my life and it def makes me feel awesome. It makes my mornings awesome! Coffee and kindness goes a long way. 😊☕I always get their iced vanilla latte and it is so delicious and made perfect every time! There is virtually no wait so its perfect if you are on a time crunch. Their food is equally as yummy, but you do wait a few mins for it. Worth the wait!

Java Joes on Douglas is a friendly place filled with great vibes. Their Coffee is fantastic and has a lot choices to match your preferences. The food and Ice Cream they server is amazing. Definitely a place to check out and grab a coffee if you are tired of the line at starbucks. (Sorry no images maybe Ill update this post with images of some food and some of their drinks.) Had worse coffee. Had better coffee. First pulled to drive thru. Waited and nobody came so parked and went in. Workers were in the corner on their phones. Ordered lattes. They didnt use their espresso machine or syrups. Just used a push button machine and handed them to us. Mind as well have gotten gas station coffee for half the price.

Waited 15 minutes for a toasted bagel and latte.... About 5 people came and went that ordered after me and no big lines. Super nice workers though and they put like 2 inches of cream cheese on the bagel which I appreciated.

I used to really like it here, but today I visited for lunch & was very disappointed.First, we were definitely not greeted in any friendly manner. It seemed as if we were annoying the person taking our order.Next, I went to the bathroom. I started the water & the water was simply a fast drip. It took me 20 times longer to rinse the soap off my hands than normal.The food came relatively quick, but our melts were cold, aside to the toasted bread. Again, the food was delivered in a very annoyed fashion.I was so disappointed because in the past its been better. I will chalk this up as a fluke, but I probably will come up with other options before visiting again.The downtown location is out of my way, but so much better!

I always love stopping at Java Joes. The coffee is great, the service is awesome, and the atmosphere is wonderful for studying, working on my laptop, or just catching up with friends. My one complaint would be that the service at the drive thru can be a little slow.

If you had listened to them better, they said they were out of change and working on getting more so they could only take cards until they could get more. They were trying to accommodate as best they could. Make sure you have all the facts before you post a negative review.

So chill to work and play games. The hazelnut coconut milk latte is my favorite. Hot and iced. :)

I go to this Java Joes frequently to get work done. I loved everything about it until tonight. I was sitting at my table when I saw the lady working blow her nose behind the counter, put her tissue in her pocket, and not go wash her hands! The two workers were very obnoxious, they were raising their voices and one was even singing loudly. Made it very hard for someone who did have headphones in to get any work done. Their behavior was disgusting and distracting. Will not be going there anymore.

Coffee is great and staff seems to be very passionate and knowledgeable which is cool.

I love java joes. I know some of the staff by name, theyre all sweet and helpful. Its on the pricier side, but worth it to me.

Service was slow they didnt have my order ready when I went to the window and had to make it. Sad!

Tried this place once when they first opened. Overpriced and received the wrong order. Fast forward 6 months. Tried it again. Their medium Americano only comes with 2 shots espresso compared to Starbucks or Scooters you receive 3. Plus costs more than the those places. Received my Americano and tasted like a weak coffee. Called them and lady asked the gal who made mine how many shots she had put in there and she told her 1... this place is garbage. Save yourself the money and go to Scooters or Starbucks!

I love the frozen hot chocolate. But its just kinda pricey and also the almost every time I ask for whip cream on my frozen hot chocolate they dont. They used to put the chocolate syrup on the inside of the cup and just seems like the workers are getting lazier there so I stopped going

The girls that work here are legit the friendliest and best baristas Ive met! And their cook makes the best breakfast! My favorite coffee stop!

Waited over 1/2 hour for drinks on a farmers market Saturday. Asked about them and was told they were on the way after the first 20 minutes. After 10 more minutes, I finally asked for my money back. Didnt even get an apology, never did get our drinks and there was no urgency to even try and get them to us or remedy the situation. Shame on them for TERRIBLE customer service. I wont be back. An apology goes a LONG ways.

I love the chai and dirty chai lattes! Ive only ever gone through the drive thru but the gals are S U P E R nice ! Its great! The prices arent too bad either!

They do a good job. The coffee just doesnt taste the greatest to me. The food is good. I dunno. It is just Meh for me. I like the taste of Zanzibars, Twisted Bean, and Caribou Coffee better. Starbucks and Java Joes has a bit of a bitter after taste for me, when I like more of a smooth and mellow brew. Liked the downtown location better.

Only had an Italian soda but it was good. The place was very clean, with plenty of room between tables to move around. Next time I will try the food.

Quality and service deteriorating since COVID shutdown. 1 teenager working and 20 minutes to get through drive-through with 2 cars ahead and no customers inside. Nice kid, but slow service and declined product quality leads me to other area options for now.

Java Joes has the best breakfast croissants and bagels ever, and favorite latte hands down! They offer several milk alternatives as well, like almond, rice, soy, and coconut.

Coffee was solid, wifi is solid, service was good.Interesting menu items - like a red bull drink haha.Felt like a diner with the napkins at every table, which was interesting... If there was something Id like to see - itd be a change in the decoration (maybe add some more style?).

1st time there, loved it! Last time I was in that building, it was a qwik shop or something like that.

The employees are very nice, the drinks and food taste great. Good place to just chill.

Avoid drive through. I ordered a double shot latte (nothing fancy) and received a reg perked coffee with milk and a plop of froth. Almost 5 bucks for a cup of coffee I could have gotten at Caseys for 2 bucks. This Java Joes is giving me more reasons to go to Starbucks. What a shame.
