Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021 @ 2:07 pm.I came back for their delicious pralines but the immature girl serving us was so rude. We were simply selecting our pralines and she was in a rush to get us out the door.So sad that we drove from our hotel in Navarre, Florida. We could not spend our money at this establishment. Yes, we’re black and she’s white. Customer service is very important and I wouldn’t get this terrible service at Chick-Fil-A.I read and write reviews faithfully. Do better!I just read your response. Sad. So sad you didn’t understand that your employee was being rude and you brushed over my review as confusing. She was rude. Do you understand that?
Very pretty store, lots of nice souvenirs, huge pieces of dried Coral for sale, pretty seashells, tons of jelly belly jelly beans flavors, lots of chocolates and fudge available, including sugar-free chocolates. They also have a frozen yogurt self-serve section, and toppings available, you pay by the ounce. They also offer lots of small souvenirs. Friendly staff.
My family visited for a late night sweet treat for the kids and ended up buying some lovely earrings for my mil as a token of thanks for watching our pup while we vacationed (in addition to the items the kids picked out). The girl at the counter was so kind and everything was delicious. The cases were full of a wide variety of sweets in addition to some throw back nostalgic items. Everything was fresh and most definitely delicious!
Saw a video for this place on the TV and got excited to check it out. I dont know if my expectations were too high or what. This place did not deliver. It was smaller than I was expecting. I thought the candy part would be a lot bigger instead it seemed that it was full of nick nacks and the were the focus. Wife really wanted some salt water taffy and we got a variety. Trying all of them they tasted like theyve been there a while. Maybe if you can catch when they make a fresh batch it would be better
The young ladies who were in there were very friendly. Had an assortment of different candies, chocolates, and different souvenirs. The only thing I would say that could probably be fixed is the jelly bean dispensers. You can kinda tell which ones werent used often because they are crusted shut and when you try to dispense, it almost pulls the whole thing off the wall. Besides that it was a good experience
Amazing. I walked by and went in for candy for kids not knowing they had chocolate. I assumed their chocolate would taste as good as any other chocolate Ive bought. Way better, I was pleasantly surprised!! Prices are good! Go.
Delicious store made candy, and saltwater taffy. The frozen yogurt was yummy! Cool little gift shop too, even has a Zoltar
The store is cute but wasnt real fond of their chocolate bon bons. Ive had way better. And the girl at the register was not very pleasant. Acted like she didnt want to be there
Always a must stop when in the Destin area from handmade in house candy to amazing beach decor they got it. Awesome place to grab a coffee and a short walk to see the beach in the mornings
This place is a MUST for my fiancé and I when we visit Destin. We stay at a very nearby hotel and will walk here at least once a day. Their ice cream is really good, and for a great price. I’m a huge fan of their taffy as well. There’s a whole lot of candy and goodies to choose from, not only prepackaged but made there as well. I really enjoy looking at all the neat toys, souvenirs, and of course, the Zoltar they have stationed towards the back of the store. Let me tell you, I normally don’t buy “souvenir t-shirts”, but am a proud patron of Candymaker so I bought one of their simple shirts with the logo on it to wear back home. That’s how much I enjoy and love this place. We frequently talk about it when we’re back home in TN, it’s just so memorable and fun!
This store was awesome and the Taffy was great. Staff was awesome. Thank you for making our vacation memorable.
What a fun store. They serve coffee, breakfast and snacks. They have a wide variety of Destin beach gifts, including gator heads, Christmas ornaments, and chrildren toys, but what you come for is the namesake of the store: CANDY. Their fresh salt water taffy is delicious. I wish they had more esoteric flavors but itt all delicious. Fresh fudge is also hard to beat. and they have a real Zoltar in the shop. What a treat, literally.
Cute little store, in store fresh made taffy. Lots of candy options and souvenir type gifts. Frozen yogurt/ice cream too
Love this place. Has some beautiful stuff and delicious candy.
Great selection, friendly staff. I would definitely go back! Salt water taffy made there:)
Taffy is made right there! Best Ive ever had. Well be back, next time we come to Destin!
Still enjoying the fudge highly recommend this establishment 👍👍👍
Love this place ...we come here every time we are in panama city Florida
Have been here many of times, but this time I brought jelly beans. When the cashier rang it up the register said $18 but he told me $20. When I asked why a different price.. he said O, its broken. Well went there three days later to buy the same thing... different price! I believe the cashiers are stealing. I say that because the cashier told me the guy that owns the place is like in his 80s n he is really tight with giving his employees discounts. Either way not going there again.
My 9 year old wanted to write a review for them, so here it is…. The candy maker is the best place for gifts and candy,it’s a nice decorated place with something for everyone
Love their Caramel apples!!
Amazing chocolates prices are fair have to get some more Chocolate critters got one somewhere else wasnt near as good and paid twice the price.
Salt water taffy, yes! Home made chocolate, yes! That random candy your child asks for thats not at Walmart, yes!
Very interesting store.
Fun place with lots of great treats and interesting souvenirs and gifts. 😃
Fudge and soft serv!
Great old school candy store where they make all the candy onsite. We watched them make salt water taffy on a machine from 1912! Best salt water taffy weve ever had from many different candy stores throughout US! Highly recommend visiting if only for the taffy!
Quaint little shop.
Just visited.. drove from San Destin just to see.. three employees… no one even spoke to us..
Excited that they will be offering shipping soon!! The taffy is amazing. Fun to shop for souvenirs, too.
Definitely the place for anyone with a sweet tooth! The candy critters are heavenly along with caramel pretzel rods and candied chocolate covered orange peels! The young man waiting on us was very patient and kind. Thank you!😊
I love this store! The candy is amazing. I love the almond clusters. I tried the peanut butter cup last visit and it was so delightful! Highly recommend!!
Great candy shop. A+
Such a cute little shop. Friendly staff. Delicious candies and really unique souvenirs you cant find anywhere else.
Store attendant rude- I would not go back- candy good
Great place to stop after going to The Back Porch. Lots of gifts and candy. I will note there’s not a huge selection of homemade candy and what we got wasn’t to die for. The novelty candy was a little over priced. I tried the Tom’s Toffee coming in at $21 a pound. It was a thin layer of chocolate and some pretty sticky toffee. I’ve had better. There’s a coffee shop and plenty of fun beach gifts and shells. Worth the stop.
My family and I decided to stop in while waiting for our table at the Back Porch. Im very big on customer service. We walked in and neither of the two employees acknowledged us when we walked in. They were to busy talking amongst themselves. Even when I mentioned that when someone walks into a place of business they should be greeted, they still did not acknowledge us. We politely walked out and decided not to spend our money in that establishment.
We visited Destin this week and went to a couple of candy shops. While the chocolate is a bit pricey, the size of each piece was considerably bigger than the one at the outlet mall and about 25 cents more per piece. The candy isnt cheap, but it is a worthwhile place to stop and visit and youll probably find something you havent seen in awhile if ever. I was hoping to find some sugar-free chocolates to take back to my mother-in-law, but I didnt see any in the cases - they may carry these, but I didnt inquire.
Homemade chocolate treats & taffy are delicious! You can get coffee and other treats. Also, they have a very nice gift shop.Prices are reasonable, especially since it is in a tourist area. ♿ accessible, but aisles are tight in gift area. Open 9am-10pm.
LOVED IT COOL STORE
Awesome candies within a cute shop with unique items. Salt water taffy was especially good as well as Raspberry chocolates.
A MUST visit everytime were in town!!! Carmel apple with nuts, sea salt chocolate covered caramel!!! Plus the beautiful coral, mermaid, collectibles!!! I always have to purchase my 2 mermaid lithographs, hand drawn by a local artist. Also has a frozen yogurt bar!!!Be sure to stop in!!!
I had breakfast and it was very good. Coffee is great! Pleasant people. There was one waitress and she worked hard covering all the tables. Very hard worker. Close to my hotel so it was convenient but very good food. Nice place.
They had an excellent collection co chocolates, truffles, and fudge as well as taffy and coffee. Everything was wonderful.
This place is great. They serve breakfast in the morning and around the store you can purchase all kinds of souvenirs. There’s also accessories such as sunglasses. That’s just part of the store though. They have a wide variety of candy and an ice cream bar. They have their own desserts there as well, like fudge and pralines. I recommend it if you don’t feel like making breakfast or you’re just in the mood for a treat.
Saltwater taffy really good
Cool little store where they make their own candy. There is a Taffey machine where you can watch them wrap it up. All kinds of sweet things in the glass cases and a few souvenirs for taking home. They even have a pretty good simple breakfast that is perfect for a quick bite but there are only a few tables so dont bring a lot of people. It is more of a place for 2 to grab a quick bite and a coffee. Right off the beach in front of The Back Porch and to the right.
Neat store! The candy they had was absolutely delicious:). We bought pralines and some chocolate fudge which were very yummy. Its located right near the beach so you can definitely stop by on your way on or off of the beach. They also sell coffee and I believe some breakfast foods.
Fun place. Interesting giftedness and souvenirs and variety of candies. Worth stopping in!
BEST PLACE TO GO ON THE EMERALD COAST IF YOU HAVE A SWEETTOOTH. *Only place I get Taffy from.
This candy store was next to our hotel when we were on vacation for fall break. My kids wanted some candy so we walked over from our hotel, they have a huge variety of different things in there, from candy, souvenirs, toys and even a frozen yogurt machine with different flavors. The have homemade candies. We got some taffy and other candies as well. I got a homemade chocolate peanut cluster and it was so good!! So good that my husband and I went back the next day and I got 2 of them. We also got a cup of the froyo and the that just as good. We both got vanilla. I also got a caramel apple with nuts that was just as good!!
All the saltwater taffy they sell is made right there. You can watch the taffy-pulling machine pull the taffy. Its fantastic! There are really nice souvenirs (beach stuff) sold here, but the attraction is the candy. Specifically the taffy. Its delicious (key lime and licorice are my favorites)
Okay, my wife and I loved this cozy little place. Good selection of candy and other fun items. The Zoltar that was in there was quite cute. Here was my biggest problem. It seemed only one employee was in store and we were not even acknowledged. I could overlook it because she seemed busy making candy and I know what it is like to concentrate on something. But on a business that would seem to thrive on patronage, maybe have another person there to help others? One trip does not make the whole store bad and the next time we are in Destin we will stop by again. 4 stars for a very cute store, one problem, one star off. I will update if next time we go is better!
This place is a future covid19 cluster waiting to happen. No one wears masks, not even the employees. The only place in Destin I actually got anxiety while I was inside. Was there last TuesdayI have always visited this place every time I have made a trip to Destin, but I will never be backThis was by far the worst place in all of Destin as far as not caring about pandemics go
Great customer service. The peanut butter fudge was amazing, just like grandmas almost.
OMG, unbelievable! Im a local and never took the time to visit them, until recently. I customer for life!! Great selection of fresh goodies 😊
The Candy Store is Great, Sooo Good, Staff Very Friendly,Place was Clean, Good Prices
Very rude service.
DONT GO HERE. Bought a candy toy for a little kid, the toy was broken and didnt work. The worker refused to replace it or refund it.
Fun candy shop with candy and nick knacks. Worth stopping by and checking out if youre in the area.
Great chocolate, especially the turtles and toffee. My family really enjoyed the truffles, too. The shop has a wide variety of candy, gifts, and home decor (nautical and beachy). The kids loved being able to make a mixed bag of their favorite Jelly Bean flavors. They also had a good selection of saltwater taffy.
It is a chocolate lovers heaven! So many different kinds of chocolate truffles, dipped and redipped and dipped again in white chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate. One of my favorite truffle is the Showgirl yummy! If you like Jelly Bellys, they have almost every flavor made. They make salt water taffy, and the list goes on! So much hand made candy!
I absolutely like the breakfast they do at this place. The girls that work there are always super kind and always in a good mood! The food feels like home made food and not like the food you find in chain restaurants. Its a little space but it makes it charms.
Can’t even comment on the candy because the lady behind the counter with her face buried in her cell phone refused to acknowledge us when we were standing at the counter waiting to order chocolate. We stood there for about a minute talking and making enough noise that she could not have known we were there and she was only about 6 feet away but she refused to look up, As customers it’s not our responsibility to call out to her for service. We just walked out the door.
Coolest place to buy homemade candy. Watching them make the candy is amazing as well. Staff at every location is truly amazing.
Nice variety candy store in the middle of a busy area. Most items made in house, they have seasonal breakfast options (said its from March - October), and even a decent souvenir shop.
This place is awesome! Never heard of Key Lime fudge, totally tasted like key lime pie. Caramel apples are great!
Gotta try the chocolate bark! Its available in a couple of varieties. Ie, dark chocolate and milk chocolate, with or without crunchy toffee!GET READY FOR A SPECIAL TREAT!
Really cool store. Had excellent fudge and Taffy. Even had Tabasco jelly bellys. Definitely go check this place out :)
Came in for breakfast. The waitress and bus man were both very friendly and accommodating, but the chef took forever and a day to prepare the food we ordered. She even flatly refused to cook certain items that were ordered because “she did not feel like cooking more bacon” or “it was nearly time for her to leave for the day” the place has a nice atmosphere and the other workers were great but I’m not sure who the hell the cook thinks she is. Her food was poorly prepared and she soured the entire experience with her infantile behavior.
Truth be told, I didnt actually purchase any of their candy, as I was parked there to check the surf. The candy looked darn tasty though. And I didnt get the sense that any of their employees had ever done hard time. Id guess misdemeanors, at worst.
I came in and I ordered some food just an omelet to go and I’ve been here waiting for 20 mins now, and the customers that came in and sat down after me and didn’t get theirs to go got their food first. Nice service but very very slow.
Really good Taffy made there and the best chocolate covered strawberries! ( Valentines day )
A great little cafe across from the beach to have coffee and breakfast that also sells souvenirs and homemade sweets. The staff is amazingly cheerful and friendly. A delightful find!
Love this place...best fudge ever. Go every chance I get. Its nice how they have seating options for inside and out as well.
Awesome place to go and many things to see highly recommend
Came to Florida like we do every year on our anniversary. But we chose the gulf coast and love it. While we were in Destin we decided to take a stroll to the beach and happen to come across this shop. Stopped in got ice cream and fudge. Both were awesome. Friendly service.
Nothing special. They make their own chocolate and salt water taffy. Lots of generic and WAY over priced souvenirs and other mass-market candy. $11/lb jelly belly?? $2 for a .79¢ gas station Ring Pop?Not too impressed w this one- would not return
The key lime fudge was awesome visited several times just for more fudge
Alot of souvenirs and Chocolates.
A must visit little place. Great candies, which they make on-site. Quite a bit of little gift nick knacks too. The serve breakfast, but we havent tried yet, however I am sure its good.
This page is a destination. People of every age will love it. Mega variety of candy and delectable chocolates as well as all kinds of great souvenirs.
One worker but another due to get there, however I liked the place just walking in. Will be back.
Very nice store they have sea shells all kinds of candy
They have breakfast and coffee. Went here because it was conveniently located next to the beach access. Grab a few chocolate on the go and they were good. Cool place to take your kids to if they want some sweets.
If I could leave Zero stars I would ! HORRIBLE ! Got there at 10:45am sat outside beautiful view. No one waited on us for 20 minutes. Then someone came out took our drink order. Took 15 minutes to bring our drinks and take our order. Then we waited until 11:25am they came out and said “We lost your ticket.” Then at that point we asked to speak with the manger the waitress was the manger she didn’t apologize at all just walked back inside and started yelling at the other waitress.
Perfect stop in for breakfast on the beach! The girl who was serving tables and was very sweet and attentive, all while she was busy with other tables.
Very friendly staff. The selection was good, they even had some hard to find European candies there that I’ve been missing. Everything they made was fresh and delicious. I’ll be back I’m sure.
There is no real breakfast here or enough candy selection, true disappointment
Always a wonderful experience! Enjoy the shop and the food and service! Memories that last forever!
