Ive never had a bad experience there until today. The butcher that claimed to work there for forty years was very rude and disrespectful. But on the other hand the other butchers and management were great and very pleasant. One bad employee could make a very bad impression.

Best New York Strips in town, some of the best slab / thick cut Bacon, and prices are what keep me coming back for more. And being closer than any big box store is just an added bonus with the price of gas these days... Thanks To Democrats.

Meatland, which used to be called Piquette Market, and has another store in Eastern Market, is a good place to shop. The meat there is always fresh and kept cold to maintain that freshness. In fact the whole store is like one big meat locker so dress warm when you go there. Even in the summer if its 90 degrees outside it will be cold as a refrigerator inside so be prepared. But thats whats great about it, you know none of their food is sitting around at room temperature. The reason I gave them four stars is because they take good care of their food, but some of their meat, the chicken for example, will spoil relatively quick once you get it home. The hamburger can be a little pasty, sticking to your hands as you work with it, but this is typical of meat from a lot of grocery stores in Detroit. That being said, its definitely worth a visit for their roasts, steaks, lobster tails, which are pretty reasonably priced. Meatland also carries a wide variety of other groceries like corn muffin mix 3 for $1.99, cheese, eggs etc. Try their bacon.

I want to say thank you to the people at Meatland for the meat for family Fourth of July weekend party and packing it so I could drive from their store to Marquette Michigan and I still had ice on it thank you so much for making my family tradition so special

So helpful they had everything I needed plus they seafood plus when I ask for which was the best lamb the new guy didn’t know but he asked and got me great pieces just cooked with them

Shop there often staff are very welcoming and whenever I have my daughter with me they go out of there way and give her cookies juices lunchables etc.

I bought a 30 pack of Bob Evans sausage, they were not Bob Evans sausage in the box. The box was wrapped in plastic and already open, moral of the story is they put another brand sausage in that box because Bob Evans sausages are not white, and they cooked like cheap pork....not Bobs at allll Im never coming back!

Low prices. Fresh meat. I have 6 kids and buying meat here is cheaper then grocery store and i get sooo much more

The market is like super extremely cold and thats a good thing since this is a meat market. There is a bundle for every price range. The staff was actually very pleasant and nice. My only complaint is that the prices of all the bundles are not posted on piquettes website, only one of them is. I think it would make more sense to post all of the prices of the bundles so that people can get a good feel of what they buying and plus the customers will be further prepared money wise when buying a bundle. Nobody wants to walk into a meat market and accidentally not bring enough money to spend. When I was at piquette this past week, i was able to snap some photos of the circulars and of the bundle packages. The photos below were taken on 8/2/17.

This is a good Meat Market very convenient being that they open on Sundays too. Prices are a bit higher than my usual spots but not too bad. I would recommend this place 😊

They were very busy but was able to get out fast

Stopped in here because it was on my way and purchased $122 of king crab. Cooked them and instantly knew they were spoiled. My brave husband tasted one and confirmed they were bad (he had an upset stomach the entire next day). Meat was brown and the smell just wasn’t right. Bagged them up and took them back to the store the very next morning and the manager would only send an employee out to address the issue. They ended up only refunding $66 because the weight was different! Duh!! When they were purchased they were frozen so of course the cooked weight is different! Had a receipt and all but they couldn’t seem to understand why I deserved a full refund and implied we would eat spoiled meat. Called the health department so we’ll see what happens but please avoid this place if looking for fresh seafood.

Worth the trip into Detroit. When work brings me to the NW side I bring a cooler and stock up on great meat deals. Last time I was there I couldnt make up my mind on what food to get. Very helpful guy talked to my girlfriend and showed her big pieces of meat at huge discount. he cut it up for us and it was great.

The meat look old and the so called butcher can’t cut meat, the chicken thighs look like chicken backs. I will never go there again, back to the eastern market I go.
