During recent travels across the United States and Southeast Asia I turned to some of the waxed canvas bags of Frost River and their notebooks and was largely satisfied with how well they held up. They can put up with a LOT from a working poets perspective. Most of the staff are reliably helpful but its a store you can explore on your own. Theres something for just about every need and budget. Parking is great, the hours are reasonable and its located near other great stops on this side of town. They embody a good part of the Duluth spirit

I just happened by this place. Decided to take a look. I was not disappointed. They make all of their products onsite. Bags, satchels, back packs, and many other products. Made of heavy canvas and leather. Beautiful craftsmanship. These products are the kind you will own for life and then some.

Quality products at fair prices. Im very happy with my Summit Boulder Junction pack. The Minnesota and Lake Superior patches that I had installed (with in an hour) at the time of purchase are a nice addition to my pack.Tucker did an awesome job answering all of my questions, and there was a lot of them. There is definitely a return trip to Frost River in our future.

Frost river is an amazing, American-owned, quality company. Their products are pricey if you expect a $15.00 backpack. They sell quality gear at excellent prices and their products should last for you for decades if taken care of.

I purchased a North Bay Day pack to replace a worn out nylon one I had used constantly for years. I wanted a panel loading pack like my old one but made of sturdier material that would be the last pack I would need. This not only has all the features I wanted, but is so well made that I think it will withstand any use I put it through and more. The price was more than reasonable for such a fine pack. I would not hesitate to buy any of the other Frost River products should the need arise.

Everything is made in America and most of their products are made right there at the store. Whats not to like?!

I have become a repeat customer of Frost River because of the quality of their product, their lifetime warranty and the awesome customer service they provide. They sell traditional style products that use proven materials (for generations) that are durable, practical and useful. Sure, there is lighter gear but I have learned from experience that weight at the cost of durability is a losing proposition. I trust Frost River gear. I dont worry about it because it is so well made and they stand behind their products if something were to fail. Oh, and its made in Duluth, Minnesota where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average.

If the quality of the mitts I ordered are anything like the customer service, I will be set. I reached out to them to check if I could get a quick shipment of some mitts for a hunt. They did not have them in stock, but they quickly made them and shipped them my way. I have them and am ready to head into the woods with a few days to spare. So far Frost River has been great!

Love the quality and character of Frost River. Started out with a pint glass holder and just got a pilot brief. Their pistol rugs are top notch and every one of my pistols has one. They recently went out of their way to assist me when the postal service made a huge mistake. Look forward to many more purchases!

I lived in MSP for 15 years but never made it here, but would love love love to go. Next time I am in MN I will certainly try to get up there. I have bought plenty of their products online and they are great. I will continue to buy their products and always look forward to their new items.

I bought the isle royal senior bushcraft bag and love it it’s a bushcrafting pack and it’s perfect for that but I am a hunter and it’s not really geared for the hunter,I think they should make a hunter pack the same size as isle royal senior. But like I said it’s perfect for camping and bushcraft.

Horrible customer service and impractically designed goods. I bought a heritage black vintage pack for my fiance for Christmas 2017. We live in Seattle and so the waxed canvas a selling point. We have many other waxed canvas garments and bags, all of which work fine here. She just started using the bag recently, that is the reason for the delay. I called to speak with customer service a few weeks ago to inform them that the bag is poorly designed since the sides of the bag flop open/ out beyond the cover/ top flap. We tied a piece of cord between the rivets to prevent this, which makes getting large items in and out of the bag very difficult. Also, the front part of the opening droops out beyond the top flap/ cover if you dont have the bag filled with just the right amount and shape of items. This is a big problem because rain then pours into the main compartment AND rolls into into it from the hood. When I called customer service, they said that since it was past 30 days since purchase, there was nothing they could do/ I couldnt return it. After pressing them, I eventually got through to the product designer who offered to send me a bag liner and that would solve the problem. A week later the bag liner came and to my dismay, it was a large plastic bag, thinner than a ziplock. My fiance was very put off. I tried calling them back and emailing them and they said there was nothing they could do. I bought this expensive bag thinking I was buying from a made in the USA high quality goods company with world class customer service. Neither of those things turned out to be the case. I would highly recommend sticking with Tanner Goods, Duluth Pack and Filson. They all make bags that are actually high quality in the USA AND have great customer service.

I purchased one of Frost Rivers Isle Royale packs a couple of years ago. I love that pack and it has held up extremely well, so when I decided to get a briefcase for work, I turned once again looked to Frost River. I decided on their Heritage Brief, as it looked to be about the same sort of build quality as the Isle Royale. This purchase, however, has completely changed my opinion of this company.First of all, the descriptions for all items say that they make take up to five days to build before shipping. Well I ordered my briefcase on the 15th of January, and it didnt ship until the 14th of February. Okay, no big deal - I was willing to look past the delay.Upon receiving the briefcase, however, I was very disappointed to find that not only was it of lesser build quality than the Isle Royale (thinner leather, odd design), it also appeared to be hastily assembled, with rivets off centered and trim not aligned. I have done leatherwork and know that setting rivets in the center of a strap is not difficult, so in my mind there was no excuse - I didnt wait a whole month for this kind of half-assed craftsmanship. So I sent briefcase back, footing the shipping bill myself.After a while, I received an email saying that I had been refunded, but not the full amount. They had shorted me $10 on the refund. I sent them an email asking why this was, and they told me it was for the pre-paid shipping label I used. What the hell? Not only did I not use a pre-paid shipping label, they dont even MENTION a pre-paid return label option anywhere on their websites return page! I told them that I had spent $22 to ship the thing back to them, and they didnt even respond with an apology owning up to this mistake. They sheepishly refunded me my $10 and I received an automated email letting me know.This was just too weird a situation to be mistake. If they actually took the time to look at the label on the package, they would have easily seen that I shipped it myself and not with some mysterious pre-paid label.This company blatantly tried to screw me out of money, both with a crappy product and a shady return process. I will never purchase from Frost River again, and will never recommend them despite all the complements I receive on my Isle Royale pack. I even have half a mind to sell it after this experience, or at least take their logo off.
