Lu was one of the nicest and most knowledgeable service representatives I have ever dealt with. Built to last automotive services is what a business should be Quality, prompt, knowledgeable, and glad to have my business. Thanks for taking care of my problems so professionally. Ivan Goodman Chandler Az.
We arrived in Durango Friday evening after pulling an RV over Wolf Creek Pass. Even though I used lower gears for the descent, I warped my newly installed brake rotors. Called Built to Last after several of the big name shops couldnt take me. They got me in immediately and resurfaced my rotors. Now I can continue on down the road.
Built to Last got my derelict 96 Subaru Outback up and running again with a tight job on its timing belt/belt bearing assembly. They were upfront with cost estimates and accurate with estimated time of completion. The front end is managed by a team of professional people, who are clear, courteous and clean and while I never met em face to face, whoever is out back in the shop knows what theyre doing too!
We have a fleet of vehicles, one that was damaged in a wreck. The team at Built to Last went above and beyong to accomodate us and provide incredible service. Well be back for certain. Thanks Rachael, Lu and team!
Not your typical auto shop. Office is run by EXTREMELY attractive young women! First thought was these guys dont know nothing... dont let looks fool you. Knowledgeable staff and great prices. Guys, if you want to be greeted by someone with all their teeth and no grease under their nails, this is your place. Women if you want to help strong, empowered, capable, knowledgeable people... this is your place.
On vacation to the Durango area. Had electrical problem with my 2018 Chevrolet Colorado. Lou worked me in for a quick fix first thing the next day. Sonny (the friendly greeter) met me at the door and made me feel welcome. Highly recommend!
Built to last is very responsive, forthcoming and fairly priced. We look forward to using them for all of our vehicles. Making sure they stay on the road.
We’re traveling full time and I had some issues stemming from another shops sloppy work, Built to Last fixed things up and got the job done right. I appreciated the level of communication, when you called, someone always picked up, Lu and the rest of the staff at the front were very knowledgeable, they ordered up the part I needed before my apt and unlike a bunch of other shops I’ve been to, instilled confidence in their ability when I dropped it off.
Great service, Lou is awesome, always stayed in contact with me to tell me about the status of my vehicle.
Had brake trouble over the long holiday weekend. Built to Last quoted us $3,000 for new brakes and rotors, front and back, on our motorhome. Also claimed they couldn’t do the work in one day, which would mean staying in a hotel. Another local shop confirmed our suspicion that we were being gouged and overcharged and helped us find an alternative when they were not able to fit us in this week.Went down to Farmington, NM to Gene’s Frame and Alignment who charged us $1100. He said that we did NOT need the back rotors and the back pads were borderline for needing to be changed. He also spotted a broken stabilizer bracket and was able to fix that quickly on the spot at the same time. All completed in about 6 hours.
Excellent company to deal with very professional and have a fantastic staff replace a long block in our Dodge Ram and it runs like new . We supplied the parts they installed it. Did a fantastic job.
Exceptional service and a very friendly team. I really appreciate that they listened and fully understood my needs. Says what they will do....does what they say. Ladies at the service counter are exceptional with customer service.
Had my truck brought in to diagnose why it wasn’t starting. I was charged $400 for a diagnosis that was completely wrong. After the fact they wouldn’t even let me talk to the mechanic who had worked on the truck to explain what else it may have been or at the very least talk to a unhappy customer. Very unprofessional and a complete waste of money.DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!
These folks are great. they work quickly, efficiently, and offer great communication.
After being in a collision, we took our delivery truck to one of the dealerships in town (wont mention who) to perform the repairs. Several weeks and over $8,000 later, we got our truck back in nearly un-drivable condition. Took it to Built to Last and discovered NOTHING was done to the front end at the dealership, aside from cosmetics... Built to Last gave a fair and thorough proposal, and performed the necessary work to get the truck back to better-than pre-collision condition in the promised time frame. I now take all of my delivery vehicles to them for any service needs. Thank you Lu and the entire Built to Last team!
Got my car looked at to get a quote. The quote came out to be around $4,000. I was fine with that. Went to take it in, got what I could fixed. I had to come back because one of my parts came in broken. I talked to Kristen and she said I would need one day. I took one day off so I could take my car. I rea hed out a few days to confirm the appointment. She told me it would take two so we had to reschedule. I got my car what I thought was fixed. When I got into it and started driving my check engine light came on and my front of the car started rattling. I called they said to take it back. We did and the ladies in the front were so unprofessional and rude. They were looking up prices so which I would have to pay more for the mechanics mistakes. When I told them I wasnt paying anymore the girl told me that I could get my keys and leave. When we left all kinds of oil started leaking out of my car and they left cords hanging from my car. Would not recommend. They are money hungry thieves.
Lu and the crew at Built to Last have always been extremely helpful. They take care of all the things I can’t do at home myself. Being a heavy equipment mechanic, I can handle most repairs, however there’s just some equipment I don’t have. They are always courteous and professional. Helpful and friendly. Never try to up sell anything I don’t need and have always been quick and efficient getting work completed. I even send our fleet trucks from work there when they need something. I highly recommend them for any of your automotive or truck needs.
We were in Durango on vacation and had engine trouble on the way. Needed a part for the repair and they were able to work us in and get it done in 3 days while we vacationed. Awesome work & service, definitely recommend!
Asked to have the rear axle looked at. The quote was extremely high compared to others Ive asked about the same service. Said front end needed a lot of repairs. I just had a lot of stuff fixed and repaired on the front end 1 year ago. They locked my keys in my vehicle, and had to call a locksmith cause I was out of town. Definitely not someone Id trust, and definitely will not return or refer.
This is the place to go! Their customer service is the best aroind..
Built to Last has done a wonderful job for our company vehicles. Everything has been done correctly and in a timely manner. They have worked on everything from little vehicles to heavy duty trucks for us. A very very honest company. Highly recommend!
I have a Ford 350 duallly truck that I use to pull our 39 foot Fifth Wheel. On this past Sunday we were passing through Durango on a three week road trip. Fan clutch went out and had to be towed. Went to Ford dealer and was told it would be 7 days before they could look at it.Called Built To Last and talked to Kristen and she said to bring itand they would work us in. They diagnosed the problem and called the estimate before noon for approval and we picked up our truck at 5 PM and back on the road.I cannot express how pleased we are with their service and that they were understanding about us being stranded. Give them 5 stars for their services.HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUILT TO LAST
Cant say enough good things about this company. Of course the final product is what ultimately counts, and there they did not disappoint, but the communication, customer service, attention to detail and follow through are what makes me feel my Jeep has a home away from home.
The techs are so helpful! They let us look at the tire while on the hoist. Friendly and professional people! I would totally recommend this business.
Built to Last has been keeping my 2010 Tundra in excellent shape for three years now. Mainly two brake jobs and a water pump. These folks are always honest, fair-priced and quick. You will be dealing with the most knowledgeable and nicest people in their field. A++ rating from me!
My first time at Built to Last automotive. I liked the reviews for repairing a Ford pickup, 2007, in my case. I was very impressed with Lu at front desk check in. She was not only very customer oriented she has over 15 years of knowledge on Ford products. She made me very comfortable with my estimate and repairs. Excellent work done!I highly recommend this shop for any Ford repairs and I am sure other vehicles as well. Thanks team!
I got a tastey and beautiful breakfast. It was hot and the homemade jam was great.
Such an amazing group of people! I have taken my vehicles for 3 years now and I really appreciate the integrity and honesty they always provide me. They have worked on my custom vehicles and my everyday vehicles. I am very particular on my cars and trucks and they take the time and care with each of them. You may find a cheaper price but it wont beat the quality of work or customer service!! Thanks Guys!!
My 2004 Bounder diesel motorhome broke down north of Durango. It was towed in they pin points the problem on a friday afternoon after closing time. On Monday they ordered parts from SLC and repairs were done the next day. The staff was outstanding, provided me a place to stay in my rig on the premises. The office staff and the tech were top notch, friendly and caring. I highly recommend Built to last in Durango, Colorado
I was towed in to Durango at 1:00 am Monday and knew no one. My camp ground told me about Built to Last for my Diesel truck. They received my truck late Monday and was able to get work completed by Wednesday afternoon allowing me to leave for home as scheduled on Thursday. The truck drove great and I made it home without incident.Thank you BUILT TO LAST!Ellen Allison
Broke down on our way from NM to Durango. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, making sure parts were ordered before we even arrived. Had us back on the road very quickly and didnt gouge us on price. Thank You Built To Last for all your help!
The car repair diagnostics was good and helpful. Repair was done in a reasonable amount of time.
I have never had a bad experience with these guys! I was originally recommended to them from a mechanic that I trusted who retired. Great service, well done repairs and at a decent price point.
Have always been happy with the time spent on diagnosing an issue on my truck. They never throw parts at it, good customer service. Fair prices. Happy customer. Will be back..
Built to Last is one heck of a place to get your car, van, bus, or RV repaired. As a small business owner in Durango We need our vehicles to keep on the road and they step in and take care of all that is needed professionally and in an amazing timely manner. I would recommend Built To Last to anyone who needs repairs on their vehicles!!!
I have gone to Built To Last for quite a few years now. They have always been able to help me with all my automotive needs from small repair to large. I highly recommend the knowledgeable staff here to anyone that is in need of automotive work! They have always treated me right and been upfront and fair with me! I couldnt be happier, and Im confident in the work they do for me! Do yourself a favor and give them a call!
Built to Last was able to look at my vehicle and provided my inspection report quickly! Staff went over and above to be sure I was taken care of!
Extremely great experience, I am from Texas and my transmission went out while visiting Colorado. They treated us great and replaced my transmission with a Jasper transmission and got it all done in the time I needed it right before a holiday weekend. these guys are great! Take all your work to them and sleep well at night!
One of the best shops I have ever dealt with. I have been involved with a ton of shops in the last 20+ years and you wont find a more honest and hard working shop anywhere! From oil changes and front end alignments to full cab off Powerstroke work they can do it all!
My little RV had engine problems outside of Durango CO. I was towed to Built to Last - My sister & brother in laws mechanics....they fixed the problem! It took awhile because my RV is a 1987. They fixed it and I drove home to northern Idaho without any issues.Thank you
Built to last always takes care of me. I broke a drive shaft on my plow truck, in the middle of huge snow storms. They had me back plowing the same day. Good work and great people.
We were so lucky to find this place! Casey really cares about his customers. We broke down in our RV while on vacation with our dogs. It was completely unexpected. Casey did everything he could to get us out of there as quickly as possible. They really know RVs there. I recommend them highly.
Fast thorough work and the price was great. After diagnosing my issue they called me to explain all my options and prices. Top notch. I loved it.
Awesome, honest, talented folk
If I could give 10 stars I would. My family and I own a fleet of vehicles and have been to a few shops in and around Durango, Built To Last has been the most honest, dependable shop we have worked with. They will always explain the repair, the cost, give you many options and time frames on repairs. Honest is the key word here folks!! They have even repaired my weed wacker, go figure. The girls upfront are top notch!
I have been stranded with my 19 yr old vehicle 3 times, and every time I call, they get me in right away. They get a diagnosis within 24hrs, order parts and Im usually back on the road in 3 days. The customer service is higher than average, the work is spot on without any extras and the price is very reasonable.I have piece of mind knowing they are they for me!Gwen Gold
Normal EXCELLENT service both by the staff and to my vehicle.Have been a customer for 14 years. Wouldnt go anywhere else
Great service and superior quality.
Jeff went above and beyond to salvage our trip and saved us from extensive motor damage! Our stupid 06 Ford 6.0 F250 Super Duty #8 injector failed 20 miles outside Durango on Friday afternoon towing our fifth wheel up for a holiday weekend. Jeff fixed us all up - saving us from a catastrophic failure, gave us great advice on how to fix an annoying turbo issue without getting ripped off, and wouldnt accept more than what he quoted - - which was utterly reasonable given the urgency and what weve paid for other issues with this stupid truck. Im sincerely thinking about just bringing it back up here any time we have trouble. Built to Last is definitely the best diesel shop weve ever dealt with.
This place is complete trash. If I could give 0 stars, this ‘shop’ would entirely deserve it.If you need an oil change done, sure, give them a try (however they may over-tighten your oil filter, as they did mine).I came into this shop looking for help on my truck and was assured by the owner and his wife that theyd take care of what needed to be done- which was a transmission rebuild on my 7.3 diesel (gears were grinding) and work on my doors; they were falling apart. They tried to fix my doors, but hacked up the door locks so that if you lock it, you cannot open it with the new keys they provided. Worse shape than when I took it in.They originally quoted me at around $3200.I showed up after renting a vehicle for 15 days and leaving for a Thanksgiving holiday, and the truck still wasnt ready. No big deal right? Keep reading. They MISSED a bolt on my rear transmission cover, which caused it to crack. As a result they called me and told me that they couldnt warranty my transmission due to it being previously cracked. Complete LIE. Id driven this truck for two years prior and it NEVER leaked a drop of transmission fluid. In addition, I was told my oil cooler was bad. Sure. No big deal, right? If its bad, replace it. I showed up and was thrown a bill for $5200.Took me a while to realize HOW they cracked my transmission. They tried to seal it with JB weld and said no warranty on the bill. These people deserve to be sued.Do your due diligence and find a REAL automotive shop before taking your vehicle to these hacks.Id like to hear their response. I paid them top dollar and have had nothing but issues with all of their work. From $3200 to $5200.Highway robbery at its finest. They’re now offering to charge me $1000 to repair their hack work, if I provide the parts (the rear cover of the transmission). What a joke!
Very accommodating, reasonable price and prompt service and even called to make sure there were no problems with the work done. Highly reccomend
Great company! Always doing good work. Thanks for getting our vehicles back on the road.
Have an older Jeep. It has to go the the auto hospital a lot. They always get me in and out when they say. Thats not my experience else where. They communicate well. Sometimes I share my opinions to help save money knowing my older vehicle. They listen and help me make the right decisions. Have stood behind their work. Thats why I go back.
I had a problem with my truck while in Durango from out of town. They were great to fit me into their schedule, quickly diagnose the issue and get my truck fixed. Very pleasant to work with. Thanks!
As a business owner with multiple vehicles it is great to have a reliable mechanic. Time is money and Built to Last always gets our vehicles in and out quick and repaired properly. Highly recommend!!
Quick and Honest repair shop
The Good: Friendly staffThe Bad: I had them look at a truck before I purchased it, and then everything went wrong on it. There prices to fix where much higher than other places. I had a blown gasket, and was quoted double what I ended up paying for it.The Ugly: I went to them because I saw good online reviews, I will not be going to them in the future.
They diagnosed and repaired my problem, but they also charged me for a battery I didnt need. I insisted they return the battery and it worked fine. Still driving it 3 months later!
I was traveling through going to Idaho . Had a transmission leak. They got me right in fixed and back on the road same day. Great service
They do what they say and finish it on time. Quality work
Lucinda Bruce was awesome, fixed us up in no time, highly recommend
To be completely honest I believe they would have done good work, however chose to have my truck repaired by another shop. I was recommended to Built to Last by Bo Deens Wrecker service and I gave them a shot since Kyle was a good guy. I was on a trip and the truck broke in Durango. I had to rush back to Missouri. I felt from the high diagnosis fee that took 20 minutes max by computer to the $6k quote that I was being taken advantage of after getting quotes from a trusted shop at home and others in Durango. The diagnosis is typically refunded if work is done at the shop. This was not the case. On top of that they gave Bo Deens a hard time from me taking it elsewhere. Again nice staff and I believe the work would have been good, but I do not appreciate being taken advantage of since I was stranded and an out of towner. The other shop did great work, covered the tow, diagnosis, and even washed the truck.
Great communication and very thorough.
Excellent auto shop help me with fixing my truck fixed it early was very personable and very good customer service
Overall service was good. There just seemed to be poor communication between the staff.
I began bringing my 1995 Eurovan to Built to Last about five years ago. They consistently do a great job and are always friendly and professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone who owns a VW camper.
Im very pleased with the automotive work and excellent customer service,... Ill be back!!
I took my car there because it suddenly wouldn’t start. I gladly paid $150 for diagnostics because I had no idea why the car suddenly wouldn’t start. I tried to start it so many times the battery died but I didn’t need a new battery. This shop, when they called me to tell me what was wrong, quoted me $600 additional to replace the battery and the fule pump. The fule pump is why is wouldn’t start. The car is barely worth $500 so I paid the $150 for diagnostics, charged the battery, bought a new fuel pump for $80 and installed it in less than 15 minuets. I can’t imagine how they thought I needed a new battery. I also cannot imagine how replacing a fule pump could be so difficult for them that they thought they should charge around $500 for it.
Got to my car promptly and honestly
Crappy engine work with no warranty. Engine they built didnt even last the break in period!!!! Find a machine shop elsewhere trust me
This place is the Auto Repair Shops of all Auto Repairs Shops!! They communicate! Open and Honest communication! They warranty their work! They call you back to see how your repair is doing and if you have any concerns. Oh yes, they know what they are doing as mechanics. They have fixed my VW Passat and my Audi Wagon. Foreign or domestic...they are they best!
My husband and I were driving up to Ouray CO from South Texas in our little 2002 Honda Civic. We were to pick our son up at the Durango Airport, and head on up for a week of hiking. As we were parking the car at the airport, she began to overheat. Our son arrived, we talked over the situation. It was decided... I ran to rent a car while my son whipped out his handy dandy smart phone and began looking up reviews on mechanics in the Durango CO area. He liked the way Built to Last Automotive sounded based on their reviews. By the time we had the rental car in our possession our little baby had cooled off. Our son and I drove, using his phones GPS to Built to Last as my husband followed in our car. These folks were a breath of fresh air...right off the bat. The friendliest gal...Rachel...greeted us and asked how our day had been. I told her not good, and she jumped into action. I told her the story, and asked if we could leave Winnie (our car) with them for the week. Sadly we suspected the water pump, even though it had been replaced just the year before. She said there would be no problem in leaving our little girl, and they would contact us before doing the repairs. We were greatly relived, and left her in their capable hands. The following day Rachel contacted me, and let me know it was not the water pump. In fact, it was a far less costly repair and they had not only taken care of it, but did some great diagnostics and pressure checks to make sure all things were a go for the last half of our journey. She even told me the mechanic told her we took great care of our aged little car. Of course that made our day, as its true...we really make it a point to keep up with her needs. Rachel also let me know there was still no problem at all with us leaving her there for the rest of the week. The following week, when we went to pick her up, we were greeted with smiles. Winnie was poised and ready to go! The cost was so affordable, and the service invaluable! We did a lot more driving on the last week of our vacation, and our trusty girl did not even indicate a whisper of a problem. We are honestly so grateful we found these folks, because they are really great!!!
This place is good! Nice people and good work.
Fast friendly gave best options for best care of vehicle an possible future problems if not addressed over all very happy with work definitely going to built to last for next issues have with any vehicle
Nice people, good work, fair price & honest. What more could you want?
Have been left questioning my bill a couple times along w/ work complete
Do not bring a classic VW here. They are clueless and have zero knowledge of working with classic german vehicles. Rude and disrespectful front desk. Do not go here.
Great mechanics; knowledgeable, honest, and do a good job.
Great team that stands behind their work.
Reliable and trustworthy service. Appointments in a pinch!
Knowledgeable and honest
Its the only place I take my truck.
These guys are terrible. Expensive and dont do much for the money. It was cheaper having the dealer fix the same problem I brought it to Jeff for. Never again.
Jeff is an awesome mechanic
