I would give this a five star, but they dont have my sesquicentennial swirl anymore!

My take on the MSU Dairy Store and the reason for my rating is that the location is cramped but more importantly it feels really unorganized trying to get in and out with the number of people that visit. There also doesnt seem to be much of a regulation on how much ice cream you get. I saw multiple single orders that had varying amounts of ice cream depending on who they had scooping it. Now, with all that being said, the ice cream is probably the best or close to the best that youll taste. The Sticky Buns ice cream tastes dead on to actual cinnamon rolls.I think the ice cream is worth it, I just wish they had a better setup.

Super fun place to take the kids. Ive been here on a few field trips and taken a couple girl scout troops here. Theyve easily got done of the greatest ice cream in the area and give tours over the facility.Theyve also got some great small lunch bites. The sandwiches are great and worth checking them out. Theyve also got some nice outdoor seating for those looking to spend an afternoon outside eating ice cream!

Pt 1 Recently visited the MSU Dairy Store during COVID-19 restrictions. We placed our order in advance and they quickly brought the order when we arrived and called from the designated parking spaces in front of the entrance to the store. The staff did an excellent job of social distancing. AND the ice cream, butterkase cheese and salami were fantastic.Pt 2 Best grilled cheese sandwiches and ice cream with creative flavors and names in E Lansing.

Some of the best ice cream in the area, is very thick, and they have enough flavors that everyone can find something they like. They have a grilled cheese deal on Mondays and it is really good cheese and soup.

The orders were convenient to place, and pickup was simple.Sesquicentennial Swirl is my personal favorite among the ice cream flavors, and we enjoy the pepper jack cheese. We really enjoy the ice cream, and look forward to trying all of the flavors.

Best ice-cream EVER

Can’t think of any other Ice Cream in the area that even compares to the quality of the Dairy Store. Ordering curb side during quarantine has been very easy and the consistency of the quality is something to admire. Some people consider flavors like Vanilla to be “plain” or “basic” but I highly recommend you try the vanilla ice cream here. Especially delicious if you order an ice cream cookie sandwich!

Worth the long lines. Delicious ice cream and other dairy products and offering basic lunch items. Parking is steep though at 6 minutes per quarter. You will use every minute of a dollar before you get your order. Still, worth it.

You probably should know that MSU dairy has some of the top ice cream in the US. It is very busy though. My favorite one is the coconut ice cream. Price is pretty reasonable for big back but cones are bit expensive. However the space inside is limited so you probably cant enjoy food inside at busy hours. Friendly staff and you can ask to taste before you buy.

Great ice cream made at MSU. Been a staple at Michigan State University for a long time. General servings. Lots of flavors to choose from, and new ones all the time. Always friendly staff. Recently priced half gallon ice creams to go... Along with good cheeses. You can even order party trays and gifts online. If you havent tried it youre missing out!

Without a doubt the best ice cream I have ever had. Their sesquicentennial swirl I out of this world, and Im normally not one for birthday cake ice cream. It was not overly sweet or bland. The perfect balance. The cheese curds are great as a snack and for poutine, and the grilled cheese is phenomenal.

Very fun little dairy store! I wasnt expecting them to sell cheese and cheese curds as well as their ice cream and that was a great surprise. They also make soups, grilled cheese, and their waffle cones in house! So unique. Every detail is special. Even the napkins are branded with MSU! Listen, I understand that the pandemic is an extenuating circumstance, however the system that this store has set up for curbside pick up is extremely inefficient and disorganized. Not only were there very limited flavor options, but we waited a total of 45 minutes and left without ice cream in hand. I wish I could write a review of how great the ice cream is, but unfortunately we did not get to taste it.Don’t think it’s worth coming here while they’re still doing pickup orders unless you have a minimum of an hour to spare.

Great place to stop if you are in the area! The selection of flavors is unique and delicious. The waffle cones was crispy and had a nice vanilla flavor. The ice cream was very tasty. The prices are a little high but fairly standard for ice cream nowadays. Definitely worth a visit!

I am NEVER disappointed on my visits to the Dairy Store! The hardest part is deciding which flavor I must have each visit. The specialty flavors like Sesquicentennial Swirl usually win out but the Black Cherry is AMAZING! They also have the traditional chocolate and vanilla for the less adventurous folks.

Great ice cream and cheese made from MSUs own cattle herds. Nice small story with some tables. On the weekends it gets real busy but theyll move the line along. Ive cream for there to take home.

Delicious ice cream and cheese (chocolate cheese anyone?) at a great price with quick service. What is not to love?Interior seating is limited but there are park benches outside the nearby West entrance.Parking in front is limited but there is parking in the rear. No parking tickets after 6pm, not sure before that time.

Usually love this place, I went twice back to back. The first time I got 2 types of ice cream and only tasted one (this is super sad because usually I can taste both). Second visit the ice cream was better, but theres nowhere near enough sitting area for people enjoying their treats.

Absolutely my favorite place to get ice cream! This place is really nice and historic about the way they started making ice cream at MSU. The first row of flavors are all named after other colleges, which is funny. Costumer service is extremely nice. Super family-friendly. All their ice cream tastes wonderfully fresh and well made.

This is my second experience at the dairy store! The first time I had mint chocolate chunk which is okay but isnt as good as other ice cream stores. It tastes more like real mint rather than whatever else other stores put in it. Today I had cookies and cream and it was great! The staff were also pleasant and efficient which is always nice to see. Great place to get hard served ice cream. Located on the MSU campus, this place is a great place to visit if you happen to be in the campus area. What is unique about the MSU Dairy Store is that they serve seasonal ice cream items. For example, pumpkin spice is available only in October and November. In addition, this place also serves cheese, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate!The staff is friendly and the shop itself feels cozy.

Love this place! I had ordered a bunch of ice cream that I had shipped to Colorado long before Id actually had a chance to step foot into the store. I was finally able to get ice cream in person and its just so good. Cant wait to come back
