We tried the Automat for the first time today!It was a little chilly but we sat outside. They do have overhead heaters so it wasn’t too chilly. One thing I do have to highlight from our visit is the service!! Especially during COVID the service here was exceptional.Our food and drinks were brought out quickly and our waitress checked on us multiple times. When my pancakes came out I asked for a side of butter and she returned with it before I even cut into them.Along with the service the food was delicious as well. The cloud cakes are a must. So fluffy and delicious!! My mom had an omelette and that was fluffy and moist as well.We will definitely return!!

Great food, great atmosphere.We started with the pasta soup that was the best I ever tasted. Perfectly seasoned and beautiful to the eye. We also had the chicken sandwich that was very good and the Hummus wrap which was absolutely delicious.Our server was great! Friendly and sweet. He made sure we were happy and everything we need.Can’t wait to go there again

This place is great!!! The atmosphere is pleasing. The servers are attentive. The food came hot and well portioned. My wife has Celiac Disease therefore she needs to avoid Gluten. Once we learned the owners wife also had a gluten intolerance and they can take special care to make some of the dishes on special board and cutlery we felt OK to take the chance. What a surprise to eat at this place. The cook absolutely knows how to make the food very tasty. we most definitely will be going back. You should go too. We ate the Italian Stallion Sandwich, Loaded Potatoes Omelet, The Mediterranean Omelet, and the Autumn Cloud Cakes

They have perfect atmosphere and nice waiters/waitresses. Definitely love the omelet, the egg is super soft and tender. Recommend “London log” drink.

Stopped in for a late lunch and found everything to be tasty and fresh. The plain ice tea had a nice citrus spice taste, and the sweet potatoe fries were perfect... crisp with just a hint of salt. Both sandwiches that we ordered were tasty combos of ingredients not found in many places. (Grilled ham brie and figs) (grilled chicken with carmelized onions and cheese) For desert we shared a slice of the lemon coconut cake...yummy and not too sweet. Service was excellant and we never felt rush even if we ended up be one of the last groups at closing time.

Quinoa bowl.The photos looks great therefore I wanted to try them so bad. I must say I was not disappointed at all. I didnt even get to see the inside of the restaurant. The cute outdoor dining area was too nice and inviting. The staff is extremely great and attentive. I am actually writing this review as I eat my food. Lol.They dont serve alcohol but was told it is a BYOB which is perfect for brunch/lunch. Fast service. Waiter greet you at the door.Would definitely be coming back before the summer ends. Just beware it gets packed quick. But you definitely wont be disappointed.Give them a try folks.

At first I missed the old Sunny side deli, then I decided to cave and try out the Automat. I’m a fan for sure. Food, service, and ambiance is on point. Great work and turn around from the old school deli. Automat is here to stay.

The staff are stellar - the service from host to waiter are truly warm and welcoming. The outdoor area is covered and has overhead heaters so you can still comfortably dine outdoors even if it’s rainy or chilly. I would highly recommend ordering the chocolate chip pancakes, quinoa bowl, and buttered sourdough toast for breakfast! 🍳

Such a cute place and the food is amazing! We sat outside since it was a nice day. The ham sandwich with green apple slices was out of this world. I had a very tasty iced decaf vanilla oat milk latte. I will definitely be coming back to try more items on the menu. The staff was also very friendly and upbeat!

The location is nice and quiet. The outdoor dinning seats are in a peaceful space and, yet the solidarity this place provides for a lone patron does not make up for the lack of flavor. The plate looked amazing; the order was a steak-n-egg sandwich with the guts plated instead of between bread. I also received a side of home fries that were very vibrant and yet still bland. The service provided was cool. The employees are pleasant and the bathroom is nicer than most apartments in Bayonne, NJ. Feng-shui does not taste good. The drink was cute

Service is good but the food was not. I like my omelet well done ask for cheddar cheese on my omelets and received American Cheese. The French toasts was too buttery/watery not a good taste.

Was all soooo good.We had an amazing omelet with gouda (?), steel cut oats, pancakes, and bacon that we split along with some delicious special drinks.I had the Bad to the Bone - no sugar needed.Outdoor dining was full so we went in. It was a nice place that filled up quickly too 🙃

The Edison Automat has good burgers / sandwiches. We got the portobello shroom burger, regular pork roll sandwich, and the American cheese wagyu beef hamburger. Shroom burger came with potatoe chips on the side, crunchy by itself. And a pickle, which I just gave to my friend. Mushrooms were caramelized with onions and it was a yummy sandwich to eat for brunch. It was not dry and went well if you added the chips in it 😂Pork roll: good to eat, though their other pork roll sandwich had more added. This was like a default sandwich before the upgrade. It came with apple slices, which when you eat both together, gives it a good crunch.Wagyu burger: good juicy burger. It was huge, with fries on the side. I cant tell too much difference about the meat quality though, it tastes like any other good burger Im eating. They gave a good amount of fries on the side though.Would definitely come back here though. Its been takeout the whole time, but Im pleased with the results brought home.

My family and I are usuals here, and I’m pretty sure almost everyone who works there recognizes us, haha. I love the outdoor and indoor atmosphere alike. We even like picking up sometimes! Plus, the food is absolutely delicious. The Cali Sandwich is a classic for sure! The service is also quick and efficient. The waiters are all very nice. We will absolutely come here again on multiple occasions!

Take out counter or seating available.We had poor service on our first visit. We were also disappointed with the less than environmentally friendly options here (disposable cups for cream, stirrers, etc).

Gotta say I am a fan of this place. They have their own takes on popular brunch items that I really liked, just keeping it a bit different from the rest of the many brunch places you can go to. All in all, just cant go wrong at a place like this. Happy we came and if I am in the area again, will be more than happy to visit for seconds...

Post covid update- the staff was amazing! They really brought a sense of comfort and new normalcy to dining out. The food is still delicious as ever. What took it above and beyond was the intelligent precautions and sustainable measures they are taking. Outside seating was well organized for social distancing and online menus mean less waste and cross contamination. I will definitely come back!

Wanted to check this place out since it’s relatively new. The service unfortunately was pretty poor. The waitresses were all sweet but we got our food before having any table settings. We asked for table settings, salt & pepper and sugar for the coffee. They forgot several times. The food was realllyyy bland! Zero seasoning on the omelette or the sandwich and my tongue was sad about the lack of flavor. They can keep the food healthy without forgoing the flavor. I do appreciate the freshness of the food, and the pancakes were fluffy and yummy and the restaurant has a nice ambience. But not sure we would return.

Our first experience was a disappointment. Extremely small and so many people waiting to be seated. The restaurant has dead space that could be used as tables... the layout is just terrible and was giving me anxiety. The waitress with food and drinks had to keep passing everyone waiting to be seated. I was afraid someone would bump into the tray of food and drinks. But anyways the food was just okay. Nothing special. The buttermilk cloud cakes was the reason I wanted to come here and left feeling unsatisfied. Moist and heavy not cloud like at all. My mom enjoyed her almond French toast but, not enough to come back for them. London fog tasted like warm milk with foam nothing special either... will not come back.

Great decor. Best coffee shop/cafe breakfast/lunch spot in the area. The Belly Buster sandwich was great! Owner made sure everything was perfect... At a coffee shop. Appreciate the hospitality! All the employees we met were great. A great spot to work during the day.

The food here is solid, all really good. Pancakes are the staple and dont dissapoint. The Indian bistro next door has great music. The outside dining in the afternoon, if its sunny, is awful. The sun just beats down on you with the exception of 1 table that is covered. Would of give 5 stars if it wasnt for that.

A new contender for best burger in NJ, folks!Check out this wagyu cheeseburger from The Edison Automat! (I cut it in half to show the juices). Two American wagyu patties cooked to order, caramelized onions, grilled portobello mushroom slices, thick smoky bacon, and melted cheddar cheese. So juicy and tender! Amazing color on the patties and cooked perfectly through.I cant even say Im shocked because the food at the Automat is consistently excellent. But as this lifetime burger aficionado can tell you, their burger game is on point.Oh, and their outdoor seating COVID arrangements are really cozy. Plenty of seating and tables. Sufficient parking lot. Double check to see if they are open. Once I went here around 2-3pm, but they were actually closed even though their google hours said they were open.Friendly service. My aunts biscuit was slightly burnt and they offered to exchange it for a different one without even asking.Capuccino was good. They have a light lunch menu and a few dessert options / pastries.Clean bathroom and dining area. Plenty of seating.Will go back again.

1st time coming here. Great experience. I was on a time constraint so I called ahead to place a dine in order. Although it went against their dynamic (1st come 1st serve, no holding tables) they were able to accommodate my request. Super friendly, quick, avocado was super fresh, fresh squeezed OJ and the Cali....Im definitely coming back

We came here for the first time and opted to sit outside on a very cold and windy day. Both our server and the owner went out of their way to continue to rearrange furniture and heaters to make us as warm as possible. They checked on us throughout our meal and did their absolute best to make us comfortable.The pancakes were the best I have ever had and the inside was so nice. I cant wait to come back on hopefully a day with a little more sunshine!

We happened to be driving past and noticed the sign, decided to try the place out. Im so glad we did!I ordered the club sandwich, which was HUGE and I ended up taking half of it home. My husband ordered the roast beef melt. Both came with chips and a side of greens dressed with a light vinaigrette. It was all delicious and very affordable. We each had coffee and a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. The cookies were gluten-free but you could not tell, they were very tasty!The staff is very friendly and egear to make sure you have a good experience. We will definitely be going back.

Went there on Sunday afternoon. Waited more than 30 minutes for the food (just a sandwich, pancakes and a side of home fries). The buttermilk cloud cakes were just average pancakes. Nothing special. 3 stars for the tequila sunrise sandwich because it was good. But not worth the long wait. Also the crumb cake didn’t taste good. I’m better getting the prepacked. 😅

The business is very uncooperative. We inadvertently bought a gift card to their orestaurant and asked for a refund. We were told that we could not get it because of restaurant policy. The manager did not even have the courtesy to come to the phone. Appalling!

Went for Sunday breakfast with my nephew. Arrived around 9:00AM, and there were only 2 other dining parties.... I thought it would be much more crowded on Sunday morning.When we arrived went were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. We were asked if it was our first time there (it was), and we were given an explanation of how the process worked.The atmosphere is open and spacious. It has a casual and relaxed feel. I appreciated that the music wasnt blaring...it was loud enough to hear, but we could have a conversation using our normal voice and still easily hear each other.We went to the counter and ordered from their breakfast menu (see photos). My nephew ordered the breakfast burrito with mango salsa and an orange juice (sorry, no picture), and I ordered a build your own omelette with smoked Gouda, cheddar cheese, bacon, ham, and mushrooms, and a seltzer water.You pay for the food when you order, not after you eat. They mentioned that tips were appreciated, but not necessary. It was at this time that somehow we got into an enjoyable and extended conversation about $2 bills (which I used to pay my tip)😀.The food arrived quickly, and the omelette was golden and silky, and cooked to perfection (see picture). They serve the omelette with toast and fries, but I asked for it without. They brought greens instead 🙂Overall it was a nice experience....the atmosphere is welcoming, the staff was friendly and helpful, the service was fast, and the food was delicious. I dont know why there were so few people enjoying this establishment at the time we were there.

Found this place decided to get late lunch on a whim. I was attracted to them because they offer vegan options for breakfast which is hard to find! The food was EXCELLENT! The tofu scramble my vegan friend got was so good she cleaned the plate! Service was attentive and very timely! At the end of the meal the owner himself came to clean our dishes and chatted with us for a good 5 or 10 minutes. He was friendly and really took the time to get our feedback and talk to us about future food options. Overall a fantastic experience so definitely worth checking put even if you arent in the area! Ill be going back!

We loved this place! The omelettes, buttermilk pancakes and almond crusted French toast were amazing! I am a bit picky about my eggs but the waiter was very helpful and he made sure I get what I wanted:) Their coffees are nice as well! Would definitely come again♥️Thanks guys!

Came here with friends, they all ordered chicken sandwiches and fries. They said the fries were exceptional, but the chicken sandwich was much below average. In fact, they refuse to come here again... Other than that, the indoor ambiance is great and the outdoor seating with social distancing is pretty great as well...

You cant go wrong with anything in the menu. Have had pancakes, avocado toast, omelettes and recently the Cobb salad. Besides fresh ingredients, foods well prepared and cooked. The salad was crispy and fresh! Kudos to the kitchen crew for being particular with their preparation, and service! Highly recommended!

The food was simply Delicious. Customer service is 10/10. First time here, the Edison automat did not fail to impress, from the kindliness of the waitresses to the presentation of the food. I regret not taking photos but I will come back and not make the same mistake twice LOL. The boys and I came in hungry and left very satisfied. PS I will come back to edit this post with photos.

This review is LONG overdue. I have been coming here for the past two years and I have never once been disappointed. They have food for almost any diet. The customer service here is one of the best qualities of this establishment, behind the food of course! My boyfriend and I come here almost weekly and tell all of our friends about it.

I never leave reviews, but I am compelled to do so because the staff at this place is amazing!! We came during the pandemic on a cold, windy day with elders that we needed to socially distance from, and they were so accomodating! They found us the least windy outdoor table and proceded to rearrange the furniture and drag over more propane heaters to make us comfortable! The sandwiches are clever, delightful combinations, and the bathroom was so clean and decorated with charm.Its a bit pricey, but worth it. So great to have a cute, unique place like this so close to home. :)

My partner and I gladly waited in our car for a reasonable few minutes for a table. About 5 mins later we received a text, and when we approached the host and hostess we were toldoops. Your table was given to someone else. We waited again and then received a text statingOnly kidding, we figured it out. We have your table.We were seated and offered drinks which were promptly deliver and we both ordered. Pancakes and a breakfast sandwich.We waited 45 minutes for two simple breakfast entrees in a restaurant that was not very crowded.This was unacceptable.We told the staff to cancel the order. The staff was cordial, and offered to box our order to go. Having already spent 45 minutes waiting for a to-go order and eating in the car, again was unacceptable.Although the decor and menu both were enticing and inviting, the service was abysmally slow.By definition, this is not an automat.

Didnt even get to try it. The guy with red hair and a bun was SUPER rude. Ignored me while waiting to be talked to. He blatantly looked at me and then talk to people that just walked up. Sent another person in our party to talk, SUPER rude again. We were really excited to try it. Oh well. Bummed.

New Favorite Place to eat for Breakfast. Autumn Cloud cakes with cooked green apples and chicken sausage are to die for. Havent tried lunch yet, but menu looks great. Plenty of vegetarian choices. Cant wait to try.

Finally! A place to get really good coffee! Their cappuccino is to die for! Ive been here twice in the past month. I was never disappointed in their service or food! The staff are very accommodating to their costumers. They have both a take out or dine-in option.

Having never ordered delivery, the lady who answered the phone was very patient and pleasant. The food we ordered came in a timely manner and warm! The fella who dropped it off, was courteous and I appreciate his distancing . Am I going back? You betcha! Next time - lunch!

I love coming here for breakfast, or more recently, ordering take out here for breakfast. I usually order the Cali breakfast sandwich which is a brioche bun with egg, honey mustard, greens, turkey bacon, and avocado. Their lunch sandwiches are good as well. I like the drunken chicken parm.

Got lunch (the AB Club) from this gem yesterday and it was amazing. It seems to be a basic sandwich but every bit was so good and the sandwich just really worked well together. It was so good that I came back for breakfast today and it also didnt disappoint. I ordered the Cali for breakfast and it was so so good. I found the staff to be very kind and pleasant. Will definitely be returning to this gem :-)

I actually live around the corner from this place, but havent tried it until recently, I regret not trying it sooner. Sandwiches and wraps are consistently good.
