Don’t bother. Apparently their reputation for good service belonged to the previous general manager and when he retired full time to his farm he took it with him.I had a narrow time frame to get some long overdue work done on my car so I made an appointment online for a full tune-up and several secondary issues that needed addressing. A week before the scheduled day I called to confirm (just in case) and sure enough they were aware of no such appointment. So I remade the appointment and reiterated what needed to be done. I arrived to drop my car to find they had only scheduled me for the most minor of the secondary issues. Once more I explained what I needed and signed an authorization for the tune-up to be done, along with an inspection to generate an estimate for the other remaining issues.My car sat untouched for six days until at the end of that last day they finally did the inspection and generated the additional quote yet, never bothered to even begin the tune-up. Turns out they had gotten “too busy” to provide the promised service at the scheduled time and apparently also too busy to tell me so and allow me to reschedule or take my car elsewhere. They attributed it all to “miscommunication” implying that I misunderstood them and not the other way around. They were kind enough to not charge me for the inspection that their website says are free, all the while denying it says so, as if they were doing me a favor. It’s a good thing they are so busy and didn’t need my business. They probably don’t need (or even care about) yours either.

UPDATE: The good folks at PRA are deep diving into the tech issue and I have an appointment to take care of things with my truck. I dont mind when there is an issue, an oops, or even a total screw up as long as businesses own, apologize for it, and make things right. This was an issue that they wanted to resolve. That helps make a good company great! No business is perfect. I highly recommend PRA and their staff.Previous post: I scheduled an appointment over a week ago using their new site. Got an email telling me they were checking on availability and I would receive either a phone call or an email confirming the appointment. Never heard from them. Relying on tech isnt always a good idea.

I am changing my review because the owner reached out and rescheduled an appointment for me to look at my car for free. They found the issue and fixed it for great price! (I got a quote from another mechanic). Everybody is super nice here too!

The work was done under warranty and I was treated like a valued customer.

The guy at the front desk told me they needed to go over the whole truck even though the problem was only in one place, they said they wanted to charge me 500$ to go over the whole truck and get it running, I towed it home and had it running in 20 minutes. Absolutely do not use this shop if you have any choice in the matter. I also found water in my transmission fluid after taking it to them, the only explanation is that they purposefully tried to sabotage my vehicle, because there is no way for that much moisture to get into the transmission, it is a sealed unit and all fill and drain plugs were sealed and torqued to correct speciations.So all in all, I only gave 1 star because I couldnt give less than one star. Terrible business, and what they do should absolutely be unlawful.

As always, they did a great job for a reasonable price. My only complaint is about timing. When you make an appointment for 8:00, you expect your car to roll into the garage at 8:00. Then you can be on your way by 8:30 or nine. For this repair, I had to wait until 1:30 to get my truck back.

I would recommend this shop to anyone I know looking for service on their vehicle. They’ve pretty much done almost everything on my vehicle from as small switching out headlights that require special tools, to new brakes, to replacing the entire transmission. I am confident my car will run for a very long time thanks to these guys and their hard work. They’re super friendly and will go above and beyond to make your experience easy. They give you rides or give you a loaner car (which is sooooo helpful). They’re great at communicating about when everything will be done, if you need something else done, making sure that the parts & labor costs are ok before working on the car, and also making sure to let you know if there’s any maintenance that you can delay a little. I had my vehicle inspected for a simple inspection that didnt include an oil change. However, through miscommunication, they changed the oil. Despite their mistake, they didnt charge me extra for the oil change. My only critique is making sure to listen the first time so there isnt a blunder. I appreciated the friendliness of the staff.

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting this awesome shop to have my oil changed. They not only changed my oil but performed an all-points inspection at a better rate/price than I have ever paid for my current vehicle. My experience from the initial phone call to the time I walked out the door for home, was unparalleled. The staff are friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and have outstanding customer service. While waiting for my vehicle in their beautiful reception/waiting area, an elderly women pulled up and walked in. She stated that her tire pressure sensor light had come on and that she wanted it fixed. One of the service advisors informed her that due to the location of the actual tire sensor, she would be better served by returning to the tire shop (she had just come from) because they had the required equipment to fix it. However, he didnt send her on her way without 1st going outside with her to check her tires for any visible damage or immediate cause for concern. He didnt have to do that and he could have easily taken her money to throw her car up on the racks for a fix that wasnt even possible. As a female driver/vehicle owner, Ive experienced the unscrupulous mechanics/shops. Prairie road automotive made me feel welcome, and NOT like a number or a clue-less woman driver! They had all walks of life come through those doors during my visit, and not one person was treated any different than another. They are very inclusive. I will sing their praises to all who ask and even to those that dont.

The folks at Prairie Road Automotive double-checked my leaking rear shocks diagnosis for free (twice because my shocks were so dirty it was hard to tell if there was leaking fluid or just caked on dirt). Their price for replacing my old shocks was also the lowest quote I got.I wasnt able to get my car fixed there because I was in the process of moving to another city, but I really appreciate the time they took to make sure I really needed repairs. My first experience with Prairie Road Automotive occurred when I purchased a used two-year old Subaru Legacy Outback (with 45,000 miles on it) in the early 1990s. I was looking to establish a relationship with an auto shop that was close to my place of work, for regular long-term service, with a staff that was personable, professional, reliable, and thoroughly experienced with Subaru Wagons.I stopped by the shop one day to discuss a service plan, and I was thoroughly satisfied and pleased by the staffs professionalism and organizational approach. I immediately scheduled a regular service appointment, with the expectation that future service appointments, and appointments for any automotive problems that might arise, would be provided to me by Prairie Road Auto for the long term.As the years went by, I continued to have excellent service from Prairie Road for my now-retired Legacy Outback and for my current 2010 Subaru Outback. I have been having problems with my car not starting. I had recently bought a new battery. I was told it wasn’t the starter, battery and alternator tests showed that they were both fine. So it Prairie Road Automotive was recommended to me. They spent the entire day with my car and it was working fine and they couldn’t find the problem. Because the issue only has been happening sporadically, (the last time it happened was a month a go) the couldn’t really keep it until they could monitor the problem. They do have an idea what the problem is, but they didn’t want to just change a part on my car without knowing for sure. After all this, they did not charge me a dime, not even for driving me home and back again. Very trustworthy guys.

I have been taking my vehicles to Prairie Road for a few years now. It is extremely hard to find mechanics that do great work and that you can trust. This shop is one of them. While I have spent a lot of $$ there the team has always fully explained why it was necessary and provided other options with their potential risks. They do not pressure, they consult.Their two-year warranty on their work is great. I recently had a situation where my inside handle broke again just over a year since they replaced it. Sure enough the part had gone past its warranty but they bought the new one themselves and installed it for free. Made me extremely happy!A couple weeks later took another car to check my daughters ABS light but when we got there the daughter said issue had cleared on its own. Instead of taking it in and spending a lot of $$ trying to recreate the issue they recommended that she bring it back right away when the light came back on. Cost for visit? Zero!Do yourself a favor and check these guys out.

Prairie Rd gave me a much better price for the same work but when they checked the areas they informed me that they were fine and I could safely delay the work for many more miles. I had agreed to pay for the work and would not have questioned if they had just went ahead and did the work for the agreed price. I appreciate their not doing work that is unneeded..

My 2004 Dodge Dakota 4x4 was in need of extensive cooling system repairs. I was able to bring my vehicle in the next morning after everything went wrong when driving home the evening prior. The technicians were able to diagnose the problem(s) and present an approach to repairs that would have my vehicle last me for many years to come (I trust!). After contemplating the options, I chose to accept the repair suggestions. Though the price was so much more than I was expecting, it was a case of fix it now or suffer the consequences of unnecessarily financing a newer vehicle. All I can say is I truly appreciate the professionals at Prairie Road Automotive, because my vehicle is running like a well-oiled machine! I have no money, but my truck is good-to-go!!

Be careful of their estimates, they were $200 off and a part that was $8 at the part store was $50 on the invoice. Theyll also try to upsell you on other service They said my car was leaking oil (never a spot on the garage floor). Except for these points I am satisfied with the service.

I 100% recommend prairie road auto. From my first phone call to picking my car up I felt taken care of. Aaron the service manager was so friendly and great to communicate with. When I dropped my car off they offered me a ride home right away and to my surprise the owner dropped me off herself and was kind and lovely.
