Good food, and they have a wide selection of mushrooms. It would be a five out of five star review had I not been told (by an employee) that autism was caused by blue light. They were very confrontational and what they were insinuating was very ableist. I am autistic myself, and it hurts to hear. Autism is a genetic disorder, it cannot be caused by anything other than being born.

The people working here are magical human beings. I feel the staff reach out to ask how I am doing, even if the store is busy. I go here to feel that I belong to a community and I know it is because of the team working that I feel that way. Much gratitude to the kind and generous people who work here. You make my day! It can get crowded at peak times, so plan your trip here accordingly.

Love most everything about this little store, great selection of organic produce, prepared hot and cold foods, cool vibe, smells great. My concern is that it seems the cashiers and other staff are disrespectful to customers and act like we are just bothering them by going to their store. No smiles or hi, how is your day, or thank you, or have a nice day, just looks and words of irritation... I dont understand why they act so annoyed that we are buying from them. I have had this same experience every time Ive shopped there and wish there was a focus on treating everyone with kindness. The attitudes make it a not so nice experience. And Im a person who believes 100% in treating essential workers (well, everyone, for that matter) with kindness and respect. Wish I got the same from the employees. Each time I go in, I hope it will be different, but its not.

I cant speak to what it is like to shop in the store during the pandemic -- my rating and this review are based on my recent experiences with the store (since March 2020, because prior to that I shopped almost exclusively at the Market of Choice). I really (really!) appreciate the curbside pickup service, as well as all of the work they put into the online shopping cart. I have watched it develop over the last few months (in the early days it was a bit difficult to find some items and it was sometimes a little glitchy, but now its great). I was impressed that they put the time into improving it, particularly since there is no fee for the service. The staff members who call to tell me about out-of-stock items and possible substitutions have been friendly and patient. When I arrive for pickup, there is no contact with the staff... I just pop the trunk, they load the bags/boxes, we wave, and Im on my way. So far all of my items have been in excellent condition. Each time I go to the remote shopping page to place an order, Im worried that it will say they are no longer providing the service (especially as restrictions in Oregon are lifted). I hope they keep it! I encourage everyone who feels uncomfortable shopping in such a small store to take them up on their offer to do your shopping for you. Im not sure how the employees feel about the time it takes to fill these orders, but I feel like it is better for me AND for them if I spend money there while not physically going into the store.

Sundance is a great place to shop, they have great vegan options and my partner and I love it there, but I gotta say.. some of the staff are very rude. I’ve debated writing a review for so long but it seems that my experience there is very hit or miss and as of late has been miss more than hit. A woman with dark hair and a tattoo between her eyes (don’t know her name) has the worst Attitude. Of course not everyone likes work but it seems she goes out of her way to be unpleasant. I am kind to her every time I’m there but am only met with hostility. And I’m not the only one she acts this way towards. I’ve been coming to Sundance for years, please make the situation right. Thank you

Ill never shop here again. The staff are kind, helpful, and polite, but the owners are clearly willing to sacrifice lives for a profit. Aisles were crowded, with almost no one keeping a six foot minimum distance - a store this size should be limiting the number of customers allowed in the store. Other customers walked up right behind me, put their groceries down next to mine as I was checking out, and repeatedly closed distance with staff and each other. Again, Ive bought honey, cheese, and produce here for years, but business owners who would rather pack a store and make a profit than take bare minimum measures to protect their employees and customers lives will never see another penny from me.

1st time at Sundance when I walked into this paradise I could smell all of the herbal goodness I was able to navigate thru the store all depts well labeled but the most important impressive piece is the customer service I was assisted by Ellis. He was very versed in the area of my concerns Was happy to walk me to the depths looked at and explained the ingredients when I asked questions He did not rush which I was happy about especially this was my 1st experience in the store Lets talk about inventory all I can say is Wow everything absolutely One Stop shop and the cashier also were the best I was hesitant based on several bad reviews but I decided to experience this store on my own Hands down a great experience they have earned my customer loyalty Until next time

The feel of this store is so great. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They pack a lot of selection into a medium-sized space, but it’s not too difficult or overwhelming to navigate. There’s a sale area in the back of the produce section where everything is half off, which is both a great deal and a laudable effort to reduce food waste. This is pretty much my main grocery store.

Ive always loved Sundance. But why arent staff wearing masks? Ive been told that masks have been made available to staff, but I only saw maybe one or two staff wearing masks on the busy Saturday when I visited. At the Kiva last week (my other go-to natural foods store), every staff member I saw was wearing a mask. Most customers at Sundance were not wearing masks either. But how could they be expected to if it doesnt seem to necessary by their food providers? These practices need to be modeled by staff first.I hope Sundance will also consider limiting the # of people in the store at a time. It was nearly impossible to be 6ft away from people when I went during the afternoon. I would have been glad to wait outside or in my car so that the store could be less crowded.

Im an old hippie (79) whos been eating organic food for several decades, 95% vegan for the past 8 years, so the quality of produce is important to me. I live in Missoula, where we have the Good Food Store. Its excellent -- almost all produce is organic. But the produce at Sundance is not only organic but local, so its fresh, and the buyers know what theyre doing as they choose the best to fill their scarce space.Joseph in Missoula

I’m very happy that Sundance sells bulk medicinal herbs, not just your run-of-the-mill produce (gooseberries and currents today for example), and offers products you definitely won’t find at the corporate chain health food grocers. Sundance has saved me from ordering online multiple times. The supplement section is thoughtfully chosen with fair pricing. I even heard the supplement guy working here patiently running through options with a customer. Good luck finding that at Natural Grocers, Whole Foods, etc.If I have one complaint, it’s one many other folks mentioned in their reviews. Yes, it’s the customer service. Completely hit and miss, between decently friendly without being amazing, to the usual cold distain and snobbery found sadly at so many similar stores everywhere. What’s up with that guys? We are happy to shop your store and support you...perhaps treat us with respect at least? To the employees who are treating us with respect and warmth, thank you.

Used to be the place that we would get our weekly produce from. Now it’s not a safe place to go during the pandemic. No encouragement or enforcement of social distancing. Sundance is a popular little store, and Covid or no Covid, customers are crammed into tight isles and lines in close proximity. I’m surprised that they haven’t been shut down. Management should be taking the pandemic seriously, and at least limiting the amount of customers in the store at any given time. Will not be shopping there any more.

Ive been shopping at Sundance for a while, and the service is hit-and-miss. After my most recent experience, though, I will not return. The cashier didnt say anything to me at all, just frowned a lot. She watched with annoyance as I bagged my groceries (I am old and slow—it takes me a while to get things together). Did she bother to help me...just to get the line moving a bit faster? No. Not at all. When the transaction was complete, she turned to the next customer and started tossing their groceries onto my pile of food. She didnt bother to say anything to them, either. For the prices you pay here, youd hope for a little kindness, a little decency. I dont ask for much.Eugene has a lot of health food stores. Guess Ill just drive my slow, old self a little further to spend my money at one of their competitors.

Just found this place today. The salad/deli bar was truly amazing: sooo many good and very healthy choices! The bad part was having to choose! It reminds me of the coops in Portland of yesteryear with an amazing deli that they never had. So many of the coops and natural food stores currently feel packaged and slick. Sundance is informal, eclectic and fun! This place makes me want to move to Eugene! Super cute store with great products and lovely trees outside. The only negative is that the cashier who rang us up was very weird and rude about our purchase of alcohol. My husband and I wanted to buy some hard cider or something. I was going to pay with my debit card. She asked for my ID. I didnt have it at that second. She said, rudely, that my husband needed to present his ID and do the paying. My husband gave her his ID and I passed my payment card to my husband who physically paid for the drinks. While my husband was in the act of paying, I tried to be helpful and carry the grocery bag. The lady kept her hand on the bag and told me that my husband needed to do the carrying. When I asked her why in confusion, she rudely said its because I didnt have ID. Goodness gracious. We have never had this scenario happen in any place we buy alcohol.

I dont mind telling you she is working right now, but I do mind having to *convince* you. You shouldnt have asked what my disability is. Even if you cant see it, it is there.

Without contest, Sundance is the best health food store in Eugene.A delightfully laid back, cozy grocery that covers all the bases, and as a bonus, has an actually decent, entirely organic hot and cold food bar – which has half-off pricing at the end of the day too! (For folks who dont yet know: Whole Foods hot and cold bars are almost never organic and are generally far from it.)The produce section at Sundance is exceptionally strong, boasting a diverse (and again, all organic) selection including many otherwise hard-to-find things like glasswort and Grimes Golden apples. And then, of course, their very well-stocked discount produce shelf limits waste and provides for those on tighter budgets (though they could certainly stand to be marked down quite a bit more, especially considering the condition of some items).Their bulk selection is extensive, taking up a good percentage of the store, with items ranging from basic grains to vanilla extract. Very refreshing to see that the majority of their bulk herbs come from Mountain Rose Herbs, a local Eugene-based company & one of our absolute favourites.Other highlights are: unforced hippie vibes, vinegar being featured in the housecleaning section, a better-than-average kombucha selection, a well-curated body care department, and fresh local baked goods up by the registers.
