The food and groceries are the best here. Very reasonable and the have everything I love. Service is fast and gives you an at home experience. I love this place.
This review is long overdue. I buy all my spices from this grocer. The owner is very helpful, polite and hard working. I highly recommend this store - you will save a lot of money on spices AND they are much fresher than you will find in the regular supermarket!
Always check ask and receipt he over charge and alot of expires food too he is also so rude!
All good, but bought 2+ lbs (approx : 30 nos ladoo), but gone bad(Though its unintentional) next day .Spoke to the owner, on one of my visit, though he was not happy with my feedback. But he assured to compensate/revert the money anytime in future, if any such episode happens again.A week prior to this, Owner Mrs gave the sample ladoo and jeelabi(4+4). Though I didnt want any such favours. This store serving community since 22 years.
Always wonderful people. Kind helpful take care of small local business talk is what this store is about.
Over price very rude old man
Don’t like this store, owner (old man) is super rude, he talks non stop nonsense that’s irritating as hell..overpriced items, old stuff and the people gave 5 stars most likely to be there relatives or Friends. Personally I don’t like this store because Of the owner.. improve your customer service please
Today, I went to check out Amar Grocery, owned by Daljeet Johaul in Fairfield, CA. As an ardent aficionado towards the greater Indian culture and cuisine, I did not enjoy my first time experience there. When I entered Amar Grocery at around 3:40 PM, I saw Daljeet-ji sitting at the cashier checkout, on the phone, while staring at the TV screens attached to the store wall. I dont think he saw or heard me, when I greeted him with the traditional Namaskar ji with folded hands gestures and a slight bow.One of the staff, Daljeet-jis son or grandson...I dont know who he was, but helpful and asked me, if I needed help finding anything.Yes, I was that customer asking for kalonji and I was lead to the spice section. Santos brand 3.5 oz. kalonji sells for $1.99. This is not what turned me off.As others have indicated, some of the items *dont* have pricing labels affixed. I grabbed a 3.5-lbs Nanak Desi Ghee toward the cashier for price check. I see Daljeet-ji on the phone and watching the TV screens. I gestured and waited until he finally saw me. He motioned me to come closer to the front section and he scanned the price and said, $26.*IMPORTANT SECTION OF REVIEW*This is the kicker part and something others will be wary of. Amar Grocery also has a $10 minimum charge. Mind you, were in the pandemic with COVID-19 a serious reality. No one should be using cash! I dont carry cash. My generation dont carry cash. We use mostly Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Zelle, etc.Since Amar Grocery accept G Pay (Google Pay), I got my app ready to pay and leave. It was then his son/grandson/staff informed me of the $10 minimum policy. Unless I overlooked, I did NOT see that notice anywhere near that checkout area. If I had seen that notice the moment I enter, I would leave. All I needed was 3.5 oz (100 g) of kalonji (onion seeds). There would be an extra surcharge of $0.50 on top of the price, because obviously my purchase and payment plan with G Pay (Google Pay) didnt meet the $10 minimum requirements. At this point, I was annoyed and left without purchasing any.I literally drove down the street *TWO MINUTES AWAY* to Delhi Bazar (with the Krispy Chicken inside) and bought the same Santos brand 3.5 oz kalonji for....Wait for it...Wait for it...Wait for it...$1.69I paid exactly that with G Pay (Google Pay) and left super happy I could complete my Nalli Nihari Masala recipe. All in all Daljeet-ji and his staff could use some lessons on customer service from Neelam-ji Aunty, who runs and owns Delhi Bazar—literally 0.2 miles away!!!When I parked at her storefront, I saw her helping her customer carry things on a cardboard tray and putting it in the trunk!!!If you have claustrophobia or dont like small, tight spaces, consider avoiding Amar Grocery, because they are super small and not at all spacious. I felt like a rat in a rat maze navigating small aisles trying to find my cheese.
Amar grocery is a great place get your Indian grocery items. I am not Indian, and I really appreciate the great advice Im picking the right items that they offer. They have every kind of spice, sweets, theyre really an Indian supermarket. You will find what you need here.
I have loved this gem since finding it a little over a year ago. I absolutely love the owner, hes such a wonderful man, always very friendly and helpful. I started going here for my turmeric but have started going more often for more things just because it is a great place.

So kind and helpful staff 👍🏻
Bad customer service, always rude. Overpriced! Sells expired stuff. All Best Buy dates erased by the owner himself. No prices to be seen anywhere in the store.
I found this wonderful store downtown Fairfield. The owner is such a nice man and very helpful. I also appreciated his employees. They have such a variety of Indian spices, flours, ghee butter, fresh vegetables even beautiful fabrics! Their prices are good. Im looking forward to going back!

My wife Shaina Lee and I Love This Store! Its not just because of this location being easy to drive to, or because this store has everything you could want. It in fact has everything and more you could want when looking for Indian, Pakistani, Or ingredients required such as Fresh herbs, Fresh various organic produce, or all the hardest to find Dried Herbs and Spices ones will need for the different types of cooking one might be doing. We have been all over the area, to MANY Stores! We searched hard and long all over San Jose, Berkley, Silicon Valley, Santa Rosa, around Sacramento, and we have to say This IS THE BEST STORE.The owners are Honest, Friendly, Helpful, and makes shopping and finding anything we are looking for a happy experience. Thank you!!!!
Bessssssstt in town
Great place to find restaurant quality Indian spices at great prices. I loved seeing pre cut goat and lamb shank, dont get to see that in standard grocery stores very often.
Love this grocery store!! It has whatever I need and the service is great!! Definitely coming back!!👌🏽
Must try vegetarian food. Do your grocery shopping and try food. Yummy 😋
Unbelievable got everything every single spice all kinds of stuff even more than you can think off best spot to shop
Omg I just ordered samosas which is supposedly made fresh, it didn’t taste anything but bad. Firstly the inside dough is raw, and the stuffing potatoes are cold and it looks dark brown. What the hell, who sells undercooked food and uses old premade stuffing and to call that fresh. Very disappointed and will never buy samosas there again. Otherwise it’s a cool place to find all the Indian spices. “DON’T ORDER SAMOSAS”
So happy to have access to good organic food! I love this place and they have Ayurvedic herbal medicines. Yay!
