Wonderful dealership to work with. Bought a new to us vehicle, had a problem after the purchase of the vehicle, dealership stood behind their vehicle and the whole process was hassle-free. Best part was our sales person, Casey Simpson. She was amazing, knowledgeable, not pushy but informative. Our vehicle broke down near Fairmont Minnesota on our way back from a trip out west. We were hesitant on leaving this vehicle behind as it was a Saturday afternoon and the dealership was closed. We left the keys and instructions to call us Monday morning. At 8:00 on Monday morning we received a call from Grady at the dealership. This was a very good first impression! We explained to him we live 6 hours away and that we had friends coming through on Wednesday who could pick the vehicle up for us. We asked that if at all possible the truck could be fixed by then. He made arrangements to get it in right away and had it fixed so we didnt have to make the trip back to get it! Grady offered excellent customer service and we couldnt be happier with the results! Thanks to Nick Weisbeck I had a great experience getting a new vehicle. I had anticipated getting a different brand from a dealer in another town but they didnt seem interested in helping me. There was a recall on parts that needed replacements. she picked me up and took me home. dropped off my equinox at my place when it was done being worked on. I dont think any other car dealership would have done what she did. I still love my equinox and hope it treats me as well as my nissan xterra did especially during winter months!

Troy was great with helping me buy my GMC Canyon without issue. He was quick with returning phone calls or text messages! Only thing I wish I would have liked is not having to pay for the repair for the check engine light coming on within 6 days of buying the pick up.

Sales/Overall:We were in the market for quite some time looking for the right car. We had to drive over two hours for this vehicle, so we had a lot of questions. Unfortunately the information we received over the phone was not consistent with condition of the car. I went back and forth between a 3 and 4 star rating because of this. There is a human error component to reporting and identifying all imperfections, and grace should be given. That being said there were a number of imperfections (scratches, chips, etc.) that were not disclosed to us prior to us driving 2 hours. We did purchase the car because we drove so far, but if it was closer to us we would have walked away and kept looking.If you are looking to purchase a car and complete most of the paperwork remotely this is not the dealership for you, as they require you to do EVERYTHING there except for an online finance application. However the people there are nice and were kind to my wife and I. Bottom line we had someone sell us a car that we trusted blindly, deciding to drive so far on the words of a salesperson who wanted to sell a car. If we were not so far away after laying eyes on the car we would have decided against purchasing or negotiated a price reduction.We do love our car, but because of the said scratches and imperfections we are now needing to spend more money to a local body shop to have the spots fixed on a car that we would have otherwise passed on, purchasing a car that didnt need work completed in a body shop.Finance: There were some discrepancies with government fees that were communicated to us. The dealer doc fee is what it is, at $125, it is within the low to average range based on my interactions with other dealers. This dealer has a flat $500 fee for title/license fees. In South Dakota where we live fees are not near that expensive. We told our salesman this, after an initial deal was sent to us, but when it came time to sign on the dotted line this $500 fee was there. The dealer did everything they could, outside of printing out new papers for the amount we were financing, offering to send us a check for the overage. The problem was that this amount was now being financed, a number we wanted to keep low. I followed up with the finance department the next day and their finance person was very apologetic and helpful, truly wanting to make things right. She was able to do her best, but unfortunately we were still left with having the amount included in our loan. We did sign and we had the choice to select otherwise but we did not. This was strike two for us and I was ready to be done, but because of the long process of looking for cars, finally finding one and driving so far we decided to push through. I want to stress that had we not been so far away and had already driven over 2 hours we would have absolutely walked away without buying this vehicle.Bottom Line: If I was buying a new car and they had the one I wanted I would drive there and purchase. Nobody was pushy and sales staff were attentive. If I was looking for a used car and lived close to them, I would consider it because their prices were fair. But if you are looking at a car online and are planning a road trip to buy a used car from them I would pass given our experience. Other dealers did a much better job disclosing all imperfections.We do love our car. The car is the exact make, model and color my wife wanted and they had it.*Disclaimer: we bought this car in crazy cold weather. When I first spoke to the salesperson the car was outside, making it more difficult to find imperfections. The dealership washed the car before we went there, making the spots much easier to see. The salesperson, had he really been looking as hard as I had hoped he was, could have found the imperfections in the cold. He could have also found them after it was cleaned and communicated to us prior to our drive, neither was done. He did go outside in the frigid cold and look for us multiple times, for which we are thankful, but his checking was questionable.

Nice dealing with a local dealer that you know and they know you. I think this is the 7th car I have purchased from Hawkins, I would not be returning if they did not treat customers well.

They hadnt been notified. I normally wouldve done this myself but Tabitha offered and I appreciated the customer service. I Bought a low mile 2014 Prius V from them. Nick Weisbeck went the extra mile for me and was willing to work with me regardless that I was well out of town. Great dealer and Nick is the best. I had a message on the DIC of my 2012 Silverado. The Hawkins technician worked for several hours before finding the root cause, instead of just throwing parts at it. While testing the new part, somehow the Transmission Control Module decided to burn up. The tech replaced this as well. When I received my truck, it ran great with no issues so far. All of the time it was at the Hawkins dealership, I was being updated by the service manager.

The staff is respectful but they do withhold information. Make sure to ask questions because they will not give you correct quotes or prices with the tax and then your out of pocket $225 when it should only be $80

Stay away from this dealer, something stinks real bad. I offered to make a down payment to hold a new vehicle to purchase until we got there. Salesman Troy said its not necessary, I wont sell it out from under you. During the drive we got a call from someone else stating the vehicle wasnt available anymore. Nearly two hours round trip and fuel wasted on a vehicle he told us would be ready when we got there.UpdateDealer made good by covering our fuel cost and travel time.

Service dept kept me updated on service progress and eventually had to keep it overnight so they could finish first thing in the morning. Everyone knows that buying a car can be painful and daunting or can be a pleasurable experience, it all depends your situation.As I first started looking for vehicles, I came across a vehicle that at Hawkins Chevrolet in Fairmont, MN. It was within price, miles, and warranty, so I thought Id give the dealership a chance and see where I went with it. Needless to say, I made the correct decision driving over an hour and a half to purchase a vehicle.My first contact with the dealership was a phone call made to start asking about a vehicle. I was transferred to Troy Sunken, whom I started to field my questions on this vehicle. Troy was very professional and calm and I could tell immediately that hed been in the car selling business for quite some time. I decided to make an appointment to go and see the vehicle and test drive the vehicle a few days later.Upon arriving at the dealership, Troy walked out and introduced himself to me and we started talking about the vehicle I had found (online) and also checked out a few others that were on the lot. After a few test drives of other vehicles and finally test driving the vehicle I found, and ended up buying, it was into the office to start signing paperwork. A decision was made to purchase the vehicle I had sought after.Troy was again very professional and thorough in signing paperwork and patient explaining all the documents and answering any detailed questions I had for him. After paperwork signing was completed, a short walk through of all the on-board components and signing up of all the services. We had a 5 hour drive to get here so most of our deal was done online before we got there. Troy Sunken made it easy and hassle free! I appreciate he was willing to work out all the details, including our trade in value, with us ahead of time and everything was just as we talked about when we got there. It takes a great leap of faith to purchase a car online without actually seeing the car in person. I purchased a PT Cruiser from Hawkins and the experience was amazing. Chris was my salesperson and dealt with me fairly. He did not try to oversell the car and much to my delight, the car was in near mint condition. Tabitha was a pleasure to deal with as well. There was only the smallest of hitches with communication of the transport to New Jersey, but that issue got resolved quickly. Chris and Tom actually got me an excellent price on the transport, much lower than many other transport quotes I had received. Tom was kind to follow up personally and I highly recommend doing business with Hawkins Chevrolet.
