Yes, this is a real burger joint. They do accept cards, its a bit confusing. You must order at the counter next to grill. Then you pay at the front, just like a store. But, nothing too complicated. Im a big eater and the double was almost too much for me. Real nice and friendly staff, downtown parking so it may be limited with a big vehicle. I definitely think this is the best burger in northern Alabama.

Staffs grocery is a good place to eat. We were there to eat at the Roundabout grill it was ok I guess. But the water was awful you can not drink it.

Outstanding local land-mark eatery! I went for lunch and enjoyed the best, freshest, burger and fries Ive had in the area. I also hear theyre famous for their breakfast, so Ill definitely be putting that to the test soon. Not overpriced and the staff is very welcoming and hospitable. Seating is very limited, so either come early or order it to go, because it takes a while to get through this delicious monster.

A great small-town eatery. The biscuits here are handmade daily, actually nearly hourly because they go through a lot of them. My favorite seems to be a local favorite. Tenderloin and cheese biscuit with a coffee. The people working here care about your experience and the regulars comeback for a reason. Its definitely one if my must stops whenever Im home.

Fast and extremely friendly service. Chocolate gravy is served on Friday mornings from 5:30-10:30 and it is hands down the best I have ever had. Perfect homey place to enjoy a quick breakfast or lunch that tastes like something your grandma would make you. 11/10 any day.

Every Friday Stagg’s offers their homemade Chocolate Gravy and it is as good as it gets. Order Chocolate Gravy as a side or as a main dish. Two biscuits slathered in steaming hot Chocolate Gravy is an unforgettable treat.

We always enjoy going to Staggs. Be prepared to mingle with the other customers. You could be sitting next to a judge, a person working the street Dept or a police officer. You order at the cooking area then find a seat. Orders come out quickly and the people are nice that work there. Dont judge the book by its cover. Burgers and sandwiches are the specialty

Great burgers! I have eaten burgers here for over 25 years and they never disappoint. There is a limited menu here, but if you want a great breakfast or burger this is your spot. This is a community establishment and you may find yourself seated with strangers at large tables while enjoying your meal. The owners and employees are great and the service is always fast and friendly.

Staggs is an institution. Its a community treasure. Get a cheeseburger with fries, sit at the long tables with someone you dont know, and enjoy every bit of it. If you dont like Staggs, youre wrong. Its also a great place to get early breakfast before you go fishing.

I started coming here in 1987. I moved away a few years later, but every time I come back home to visit I eat at least one meal here. Their burgers are just as good as any, anywhere. As Ive moved around various cities and states since the early 90s, the locals in those towns always tried to take me to their local burger joint to show me how good they were. They have ALWAYS paled in comparison to Staggs Grocery. My dad used to pick up a bag of sausage biscuits early in the morning and drive to his regional office in Memphis. They would always fight over them...which made them look forward to his periodic visits to that office. I brought a friend here with a hefty appetite last August and he ordered the double. I asked him if he was sure he wanted that and he said he was really hungry. He ended up throwing most of his delicious french fries away after being totally stuffed by the burger itself. That Tennessee fan just couldnt handle a Bama burger. :)

My daughter and i went today; got hamburgers and french fries. Always good. I miss the Pepsi products in the cooler as they are now Cokes. The Fanta orange did quite well, though..

Take me to a burger joint that will knock three months off my lifespan, were the instructions I gave my local friend. He didnt have to think twice, and we immediately departed for Staggs Grocery. The quintessential hole-in-the-wall family burger joint, everything was perfect from the top of the bun to the bottom. Its burgers like these that other restaurants try to emulate, but err on the side of caution and therefore fail. Staggs goes all out with fresh toppings, and a good chunk of ground beef, and an atmosphere that says, “welcome home”.

Its a dive in the purest sense and thats a good thing. Best sloppy hamburger in town for sure. I wish theyd put some money into sprucing up the place. It has good food ratings but just looks dirty.

Best bacon egg and cheese biscuit in town, hands down. Make sure to ask for the hot pepper cheese on yours and you wont be disappointed.

Staggs is delicious. Huge, greasy, heart-destroying burgers and a big ol mound of fries are the norm for dining here. If that sounds good to you, then give it a try! Parking can be problematic, as the area theyre in is pretty crowded and the owners of the abandoned businesses across the street have blocked up the empty lots so you cant park there anymore. That being said, its worth the hassle. Youll need to go for a walk after you finish eating anyway :) 10/10

I mean, its Staggs (Staggs? Staggs?), the classic hole-in-the-wall mom-and-pop shop serving up breakfast, lunch, and classic American culture. Grab a big ol biscuit or omelet in the morning. For lunch grab a burger. Aint no salads (I mean there are, but dont do that to yourself) or cow-fare here. Great place to watch some of the locals get together and talk about whatevers going on.Pro tip (if you aint used to this sorta place): go right up to the grill and order. Grab your own coffee in the back. Pay at the cashier when you leave.
