Made an appointment on a Tuesday for a Friday. Called on my way there only to be told they don’t make appointments that late and “when did I make this and who with.” It was very accusing and did not help with the issue of I need an oil change. It would have been good one thing to say you’d work me in. Not accommodating or helpful at all.

Went here because my transmission was having troubles… 300$ later and my transmission shifts like it did when it was new!!! I was worried I would have to spend 5000$ on a new transmission but there guys were honest and helped me out! A little more expensive than other places but not by much, your paying for people who know there way around a Volvo! Definitely recommend for anyone with a Volvo! 😀 Mike kept me in constant communication and made the whole process so easy! Thanks guys :)

Carl Duke Volvo Repair is great. My wifes family has used them for their multiple Volvos for a very long time, and has pretty much always been thoroughly pleased by the service they received. So have me and my wife. We recently went in for what ended up being a fairly large amount of work, and after running the work and costs associated by my dad, who has had to get his cars repaired a lot, he said that Carl Dukes quoted price for everything they were doing was about half what he would have expected. I dont know how they manage to be so much cheaper, but this little story captures the overall experience that Carl Dukes regularly provides, it seems. Quality work for cheaper than you expect. I have gone to Carl Duke for the last seven years since I moved to Fort Collins, I bought a used 2004 Volvo C70 in 2010...I have been very hard on my car, using it as a hauling vehicle for rock hounding in the desert, transporting couches, stoves, beds, cabinets etc....It even went through a fire event when I ran out of gas, and I parked it on grass to get it off the highway (dont do that, had I read the service manual I would have known not to do that, its too hot)! Every time I think that this, is the end of my car. Carl Duke has proved otherwise. These guys, are brilliant! They will tell you honestly, when a repair is necessary, or not. My Volvo is like the Duracell Energy Bunny with them taking care of it! Thank you Carl Duke for your excellence in service, and integrity!

Ive been bringing my Volvo here for about 7 years now (I think?), and my parents (who owned it before me and bought it when it was brand new in 2000) brought it here too.The people here are awesome; theyre obviously very knowledgeable and as someone whos not extremely well versed in cars, I love that theyre good at explaining to me what repairs need to be done and why in a way I can understand. (Shoutout to Mike, I think I usually talk to him.)I also super appreciate that they clearly communicate the estimated cost of any service or repairs beforehand, and the estimates theyve given me have always been spot on, so I always know what to expect.Overall, a very reputable mechanic shop. Good honest family style business, one time they let me use their lowner vehicle, other time owner drove me home when my Volvo needed repair and their lowner was already out. I felt like I was getting good honest care from a united team, very willing to show me what was needed now and what would likely be needed down the road. We have been having issues with our beloved 97 960 and arent currently in the best financial situation. This outfit is great. We have been using them for 22 years with a variety of Volvos from vintage to 2006 models. Carl and his staff are always honest, they do great work, and they have helped us out in a pinch more than once. Mick was great at the front desk for a long time and James has been great at filling his shoes. All of he mechanics are top notch. I wish they worked on Toyotas, I would take my truck there too in a heart beat.

These guys have done a truly outstanding job every time I have worked with them.Most recently, I brought my wifes 2002 V70 in after her radiator was damaged and started leaking coolant. We dropped the car off around 1pm, without an appointment; thinking it would be there for awhile, I asked if they could replace the transmission fluid as well.They had the radiator replaced, transmission fluid changed, and the car ready to be picked up by 5pm the same day! On top of that their quoted (and billed) price was only about half of what I though the repair would cost me.My Volkswagen is getting close to retirement, and I am seriously considering getting a Volvo just so we can use this shop for my car too. I cannot recommend them enough.

We took our recently-purchased used Volvo here for maintenance. They did quite a bit of work, including remounting a badly-mounted radiator. After we drove it home, we saw steam/water pouring from the radiator and called the shop. At 5:30 as the shop was closing, they immediately sent a loaner car, brought ours back to the shop, and ran a full diagnostic. It turns out it was a sensor in the radiator that wasnt sensing the heat temperature and so failing to turn on the fan to cool. As a result, the car was overheating. It was one of those gray areas--it could have been that the remounting jostled the sensor loose, or it could have been on the fritz anyway. The shop didnt charge us a dime for the diagnostic or sensor. They just wanted to make it right. I really appreciate a shop that takes responsibility--even for something that might not have been their fault.

Dont expect cheap when it comes to Swedish car parts. That said, their prices are reasonable and they work quickly. In my experience, they do what you ask and will give recommendations for service without pressuring you.

Volvo widowMy late husband Gary has been turning wrenches since he was 10 and Prepping cars and painting since he was 13. He knew every junkyard in every area in Denver and beyond. He was a renowned available mechanic who would come to your house show you how to fix it yourself and charge very little if anything. Especially if you were a single mom or a student.We moved up to Carter Lake in our 50s in 1995 and rented a cabin from Kurt Gummere he who has had in the past and consider Gary to be his wizard Volvo mechanic. I know that Kurt has brought you some of his cars before. I did leave him my 1981 wagon.It’s the 1981 242 GL that I am writing to you about.I kept insurance and payments up on this car that Gary had made for me and taking great care of for me until I could no longer do it. When I finally moved into Loveland near 287 and 68th St., I found out that my trick of putting classic car plates and it didn’t work it they belonged to a Ghia. Since it wasn’t licensed, I had cataracts, and nobody to help out, it was towed to a friends house in outside commerce city and has remain there until I could find a way to get back to my child. Two years. Without a friend.Gary and I spent our most important times in that car we were always traveling in — it we had 78s before that and had a wonderful marriage. He just didn’t expect to have a serious heart attack and die on the job site. I didn’t expect to be left with nothing and no way to get to medical appointments now.I have been going to a hospital in Denver for 50 years and now Medicaid hope you will no longer pay for transportation to these appointments because they say I can get the same treatment in the area.NJH is the leading respiratory hospital in the world and has some of the most incredible doctors on the planet. It’s one of the reasons I’ve stayed near Denver since I moved to that hospital as a patient when I was 15 and spent a year and a half.Obviously I need help with My Volvo. The only thing that was wrong with it is that Gary always took off the thermostat and then put it back on before he had it inspected. When it was driven down here it was noted that the battery was low and that some of the fluids were low. The battery was stolen.It has brand new tires from BigO that should be replaceable for life, if they’ve said too long in one position. It needs to be registered and I do have the $ insurance for it even though I won’t be able to drive it.So guys I need your help. We’ve got a couple charities that do help out with people in this situation, there’s a question about a long-term appeals process with Medicaid, and in the meantime I have four appointments coming up that must be attended.It’s at 5880 Marshall Court in commerce city which is 57 miles from your garage. How can you help me?I’m in palliative care. He was a Vietnam vet and no he wasn’t able to leave me anything except a lot of memories and a wonderful Volvo that I need to be riding in again so that I have a little more independence.Oh it’s supposed to have some kind of special expensive steering wheel on it that Gary got through his 60+ years of wrenching.I eagerly await your reply. I have $300 set-aside. I will go find me but it needs to be moved and started on. He had great respect for you and your work. He was pretty much the Traveling Volvo Guru of Denver. They know Volvos! Carl Duke is always able to repair my car around my schedule. I dont think either of my Volvos has been there longer than a day or two anytime they need work. I had an AWD failure on my S60 due to a bad AOC pump and the first shop I went to (hint it rhymes with babushka) was unable to even identify/acknowledge the problem. My mistake for not bringing it to Carl Duke first. They got it fixed for less then I was expecting.

Untrustworthy, expensive and incompetent. Very sorry I had my car sort of serviced here. Sort of because they failed to complete the job and made no excuse they did not care I was not happy. Dont bring your car here, go to the actual dealership, you will be happier
