This place is amazing! If youre looking for a type of fabric, theyre pretty likely to have it. Largest collection of wool shirting that Ive seen in a long while. High quality, inexpensive fabric of all varieties. Ill be returning for some of their brocade. Left with 6 varieties of 100% worsted wool, which I fabric tested at home (it is exactly what they said it would be; cant say the same for my purchases from other discount stores). Spent less than $100 for over 20 yards of natural fiber, woven fabric. Warning though-- their selection is very seasonal. If you see something there, pick it up the first time because bolts go fast. If you come back later its unlikely to still be there.

Everyone has their dirty little secret and this is mine. The fabric is normally high quality, higher quality than you can imagine actually, and you can get any trim, accessory, thread for so cheap it makes it worth the drive no matter where you are coming from. For the prices you are paying, you can get entire boxes of boning, Velcro, elastic in every size, fill, interfacing, already sewn into lines of fabric hook and eyes, etc for so low just know that you will be walking out happily with much more than you thought you were going to.Even on deep discount sale, I have spent $500 on lesser quality and lesser yardage at Joanns and I just bought triple that with a 20ft upholstery roll of fabric for under $300.

This business has very nice fabrics and accessories to go with it. I had a issue with the owner years ago because I felt she was rude and unhelpful when answering a simple question like how many yards for a skirtnor something.Again that was years ago and she seems way more helpful these days. I like how they are one of the last reamining fabric stores and are family owned and a small business unlike Joanns.

There are so many different fabrics in this place! Huge selection compared to Joann Fabrics. Make this place your first stop if youre looking for fabric.I know nothing about sewing but came in here for some fabric for a formal dress. I asked for help and the staff was so helpful! The young lady that helped me walked around basically the whole store with me, pulled out fabrics left and right that would match my color. I would have been so lost if it were not for this young lady! She went above and beyond!

They have a lot of options and the prices are good. But if you’re not a 50 year old white woman you don’t belong here. Shoppers made me feel uncomfortable by looking at me but when I asked some questions to a store worker she made me feel like like an idiot for asking about the material.

I went by during a quiet hour and had a wonderful time. Pauline (I hope I got her name right!) and Diane were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Because it was so empty Diane was able to give me plenty of advice and show me around the store pointing out good fabrics. Diane is full of sewing tips from her many years of sewing experience. You can get some extremely nice fabrics here for very reasonable prices. I got some $2/yard Lycra, some absolutely beautiful 60 plaid wool at $7/yard, and some denim with stretch for $3 or $4/yard. Especially at the sales tables you can get fabric at Sewfisticated for cheaper than you would get muslin at JoAnns (even accounting for a 50% JoAnn coupon!)I visit the Sewfisticated location in Twin Cities pretty frequently as well. However, I havent been by there when it was quiet so I didnt get the white glove treatment that Pauline and Diane delivered.

This is simply the best fabric store in the area if you like good prices and know quality when you see it. I own a local sewing studio and I can often spend thousands of dollars a year here on supplies. That being said if you need something very specific then you might be disappointed with the selection. Thats not why you shop here, this place is about closeout prices on more interesting fabric than youll find at the regular places. You can usually get your knits for $1.99 /yard, compare that to $14.99 elsewhere! Like I said, know your fabric when you go and you can end up with some high end stuff for pennies on the dollar. If you see something you like buy ALL of it because you wont see it again.End of season is the best time to pick up quality cotton prints for dirt cheap, my students LOVE them and no one cares if theyre sewing with Summer fabric in Fall..The owner of this location is awesome as is most of the staff. Remember, theyre there to cut your fabric, not give you sewing advise. Also, do yourself a favor and dont ask for further discounts, its rude considering the already ridiculously low prices. I tell my students its probably the closest thing to shopping in the NYC garment district as you can get in this area without the haggle and hassle.Shop with gratitude that we have a place like Sewfisticated so close. Oh, the new location is WAY nicer, if you havent been then by all means do so. FYI: the parking lot in back is a lot easier to access and feels a lot safer than pulling in and out directly onto route 9.

I love the selection and the prices. Joe does a fantastic job finding great quality for great value and going above and beyond for customer service. Wonderful selection of wools, silks, home decor, and upholstery I wish the linen had more colors. It always seems to be neutrals when Im there. While Ive never had an issue with the counter help, mostly because we worked together at a previous fabric store, I do get reports from my friends that Ellie continues to be abrupt to downright rude.

Great selection and prices. I bought several pieces of chiffon. Its hard to work with and hard to cut, its so light and wispy. The clerk took her time to make sure the fabric was straight and then measured and cut it. I really appreciate her attention to her task. She was pleasant and helpful. Cant ask for more than that.

My favorite fabric store. I have found that the employees are nice and helpful if you have questions but dont hound you when your browsing (which is how I like to shop). I love the selection (not huge but not small by any means) and the price cant be beat. I usually buy quilting fabric and I love that they have it organized by color for the generic fabric and then the novelty selections (Christmas, valentines day, nursery, etc.) are grouped together. It makes finding what you want easy. The quilting fabric tends to run between $1.99-$4.99 a yard depending on what your buying. I think they get last seasons fabrics. Some of them are ones I saw a year or two ago in my local quilting store which is how they keep the prices low - but thats fine with me. They also have a nice selection of appear, home decor, vinyl and other fabrics. For most fabric you have to buy a minimum of a yard except quilting which you can buy a minimum of a half yard.

Fabric is extremely affordable compared to other local shops, but if you want cotton prints with more than 2 colors, you’ll have to go elsewhere. Selection of notions is decent, and there’s ample parking. Staff is not the friendliest, but they’re authentic. No or minimal supplies for other fiber arts & crafts, just quilting, upholstery, clothing, etc.

I came out to their Framingham store for the first time today and Im very impressed. Unlike the other 2 stores, this location is very spacious and well organized. On top of the usual wall of quilting cotton, they have bolt after bolt of silks, both woven and knit. Ive never actually seen silk jersey before! Theres a nice stock of wool suiting and other wools, too, and a decent selection of linens. Some denim and corduroy, a lot of cotton shirting, and some seersucker and other lightweight cottons for the summer. There are a lot of knits, both cotton-Lycra and synthetic. Read the label on the bolt. I saw a number of bolts of knit ponte, too.Lots of upholstery and curtain fabric, too, including Sunbrella, which is labeled.

One of the few places to get good linen.

Review №73

I like their new location, and they have definitely improved their staff interactions with customers. The Framingham location is much larger than their Cambridge store. They have a lot of different fabrics that are inexpensive. They have beautiful silks that I want to find projects to match (most expensive silk I have seen is the Dupioni at $10/yd), and I think they have expanded their wool selection, as well, or the new location makes it easier to find and navigate. They are well organized, and they have overstock or remnants at a discount on tables among the store that are marked. (I scored a beautiful, soft white baby hatchi knit for $2/yd among those.) They will not leave less than two yards on a bolt, and any CC purchases have a $5 min. Go here for the selection and prices (tons of printed knits, suitings, satins, lyrcras), which are much cheaper than many places nearby. They have a decent amount of quilting and upholstery fabric, too, but I go purely for the fashion fabrics.
