Went there to have a look at their statue collection it was good they have a decent selection...

This pace was HUGE. I wanted to start collecting, and this was the place. They had a lot of variety, including classics like Spider-Man, Superman, iron man, and all of those. But they also had Disney and other authors like Neil Gaiman. This was amazing and it had a lot of collections. My only issue and the reason this isn’t five stars is that it had so many varieties, so some comics didn’t have very many issues. Otherwise, it was great. I got an iron comic, three Spider-Man comics, and a doctor who comic. These were good priced, and staff was great. Would recommend! 👍

Fantastic variety and friendly staff, nice selection of MTG cards and open space for games.

The employees are amazing, they actually care about the product they sell. If you have questions they will answer you (and not make you feel stupid for them). They get as excited for new releases as you do. They wont upcharge you for something just because they can (like some other places near by). Over all this place is amazing! 10/10 would recommend and will go back every time!!! Thank you guys for doing what you do! Cant wait to go back again!

Great comics shop; out of all the shops in the area this one is my go to. They carry a great selection of comics and graphic novels and I can always find what Im looking for, and everyone who works here is friendly and welcoming. Im someone who often feels unwelcome in comic shops for not fitting a certain nerd mold but have never been made to feel that way here.

Looks to be a new place. TONS of inventory - comic books, statues etc. My son grew up regularly going to a very similar but much smaller comic store. He is beyond happy to have found Beyond Comics!

As such I do realize I came across rather aggressive in my original review. Im going to keep the original review for clarity but I am updating my review to reflect the customer service thus far and the facility itself. Ill keep this review updated with any changes and any information from their customer service.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I once shopped at the Beyond Comics in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. It was truly a great comic store and the associates there helped my fiancée and I get into comic book collecting. They always recommended heading out to their Frederick store to see more of the inventory.We visited on July 20, 2021 (our second time visiting) and we purchased around 30 comics from them. These totaled to $193.50 cover prices. During checkout, a gentleman came up and assisted the associate with his counts. He looked through some the comics we were purchasing and after a moment of consideration, told the associate checking us out, the prices. We assumed he was simply doing the math.After checking out and adding them to the database tracker and looking at the receipt for the purchase, we see that the subtotal came to $218.25 on their side. We are not quite sure why they would change their prices at checkout but we are very disappointed to see this happening. If the store felt the prices of the comics should change, we would have simply accepted that reasoning and continued with the purchase. However, to not communicate this and proceed to overcharge by $24.75 without communication is absurd.This sort of occurrence definitely comes across as the business seeing customers eager to buy comics they are interested in, and hike the prices up at the register. Its a good way to not only lose trust, but also lose customers.We will not be returning.

Recently renovated and the store looks awesome (not that the old format was bad). Most of the staff is friendly and are helpful in searching for what you are looking for.

Great Store A lot of comics and comic book accessories.They also have magic cards (MTG) singles and sealed which was a pleasant surprise.Only down side was the limited selection of singles but as a comic book store first it was what I expected.I did not get the employees name but I appreciate him for not trying to sell me on anything and not pushing any purchases on anyone.Great experience and atmosphere would definitely comeback here again!

Complained to me about not wearing a mask despite current guidelines. Very low selection of Manga let alone much of everything else. You’re better off looking else where for what you want.

It is the hallmark of a good, well-run establishment when the staff helps the customer regardless of whether it meant a sale for the store or not. They did not have what I needed, and directed me to another local small business that would be able to help me.Top marks for my visit today.

Edit: May 1, 2021I initially left a five-star review after the pleasant surprise of finding Pokémon cards in stock and at MSRP. This was thanks to the management being proactive and limiting purchases in order to prevent scalpers from clearing out stock before actual players and collectors could buy the product.Since then, I had made it the ONLY place I buy cards and had been recommending Beyond Comics to anyone who was trying to find a place that had cards at fair prices. They managed to consistently have something in stock and at actual MSRP. No other comic shop in town could say that. I know because Ive been to the other shops and left when I saw the absurd prices. It made Beyond Comics a shining beacon in this era of hype and scalpers.My younger brother wanted to get back into collecting and playing, so in my mind Beyond Comics was the only place to go. Booster packs were still MSRP but the Elite Trainer Boxes which are the perfect gift for new players are now marked up over 200% MSRP!!! We left with a few booster packs because the Elite Trainer Box was priced so egregiously that even online scalpers are selling this exact product for less on eBay.It was disappointing, Id been making sure to continue patronizing this shop since my first experience specifically because of their consumer friendly pricing practices. It feels like a kick in the gut after passing up buying the same product at MSRP when it was in stock at Walmart while thinking that with a little patience Id be able to buy it for the same price (or perhaps a small bit more) and support a small business. Very large selection with anything big or small you need. Picked up some pokemon packs and some binder pages for cheap. Very much enjoyed the experience. I have to go back for more binder pages!

I wish this store was closer to my place! It has a great selection of comics from the silver age to brand new releases including plenty of variant covers. They also have so... many... statues! Including a life size Hulk. The prices are also very good.

This is my home comic book store and has been for over a decade. The owner is knowledgeable of the industry and is welcoming to both new and experienced collectors. There is a large selection of new major and indie books available. Additionally there are many trade paperbacks available.There is a large, organized collection of back issues which is becoming a rarity these days in other comic book shops. There is also a large number of $1 dollar book bins that are always fun to look through.

Posted the wrong review for the wrong comic store. My fiance and I go to a lot of comic stores for Pokemon cards since were avid fans of the series. This shop has what you want, however the atmosphere is odd, workers tend to give off the if youre not in our clique get what you want and get out kinda feel (however there newest employee is great, very friendly). Weve been to beyond comics a couple of times, the only time that Id say was joyful was the last time on free comic book day of this year. The new employee was talkative and made you feel right at home.

Local game shop. Great selection of tabletop games. Wall to wall stuffed with cool minis, games, and comics. Also hosts some tabletop leagues but you have to ask

Beyond comics was always a fun place to go whenever I was visiting Frederick. I liked looking at their clearance section and $1 comics. Been going there for the better part of 15 years now. I have always thought the owner to be rude and cocky. But that didnt ever deter me from making my visits to the store. Unfortunately I made the mistake of going one day while he was there. He proceeding to talk false information and spoke poorly of a competitor that was a half an hour away and pose no threat to his stores. I dont feel like that is a very professional way to act or talk while clientele is in the store. This happened over a year ago and I have only made my way there once since then. He needs to learn some manners and people skills. I think my biggest gripe about this place is that they sell back issues around the higher end of eBay prices and dont provide backs for you!! Out of control!! All those back issues are getting and destroyed, I really think if you own 3 stores (I think) and this huge storefront, that you could provide the measly cost of pennies per backboard to your customer base. You might get some of my money in the future, you might not. Im sure you dont care and I dont care either 😀

Always have taken good care of me

I have been here a few times over the years and have had a very consistent experience of non-acknowledgement. I have never been greeted or offered assistance on any visit. So Im sure this is fine if you are ultra introverted but Ive had better experiences at a library. I dont care how much stuff you pack in a store and how many locals you can pack in but all this stuff can be found online... so I hope the ignoring of me helped grow their online footprint. I do like supporting local but I also appreciate a simple hello and acknowledgment. I will choose elsewhere to spend my money as stores with poor service are not destined to succeed in todays market.

This shop....what can I say? Its like the Three Wolf Moon shirt of comic book shops. From the encyclopedic knowledge of comics by all the staff to their comic knowledge of encyclopedias...there is no question that cant be answered. All the current issues of the best are available, back issues are plentiful, the gaming section is outstanding and the toy and statue selection is without equal. Also be sure to get a picture of the literally, life-size Hulk.

Amazing selection of current titles, with plentiful long boxes for filling in your collection blanks. For collectors of maquettes, figures, and premium toys, this is the place. Heck, just go to see the full-size scale statue of the Incredible Hulk, and youll stay for a while!

Beyond Comics is a terrific comic store. They have a very wide selection of comics, games and action figures. They also have a very knowledgeable staff that is also very friendly. They offer subscription services for your favorite comics and if you miss out on a comic or need a special order, they take care of it ASAP. This place really is the one stop shop for graphic novels, comics (old and new), action figures, games and much more.

Ive been buying comics for over a year now and I will say Ive been to many comic shops and a couple different beyond comics . This particular store I can say has given be some pretty bad customer service not to mention when they tell me it takes two weeks for my order to come in, 5 weeks later I dont hear a word from them and when I can the person on the phone gives me attitude because I called and asked if they have any information on it.Yes they have a lot of comics and fun small stuff, but I decided to either purchase my stuff from Ebay or only go to Brainstorm Comics & Gaming in downtown frederick. And no, Im not being paid to throw the comics name out. A good store deserves to be known and a bad story deserves to be known
