We recently realized that River Rock Outfitter has a Reboot or consignment program. The staff has been amazing to work with. They have quickly sold many of our items. The selling price is very fair for both the seller and the buyer. We would highly recommend that you clean out your closet and turn those unwanted outdoor items into some cash or credit!

I was visiting my kid at college and went in during covid just to wander/look around . I was casually looking at some hiking sneakers and a very helpful person chatted with me - I said Id try on a few. Much to my surprise, I got an actual fitting!! With the questions about the kinds of walking/hiking I wanted to do and the fitting, I ended up with THE BEST FITTING shoes Ive ever worn! This is really a gem of a store. Locally owned and great staff. Highly recommended store as they have just about everything without being crowded..

I’ve been pleased with every experience at this shop. Recently we have used their consignment service to find new homes for gently used gear that we could no longer use. The process was quick and super easy, with great communication. I highly recommend shopping here and selling items through the consignment program.

Wow! Can’t say enough great things about April and her staff. She helped me feel comfortable with my first time kayak purchase. She helped me load my kayak on my vehicle and even threw in a couple straps to tie it down for me. I can’t recommend this shop highly enough.

Always been highly impressed with this place you can see the car thats put into a small business here and how much the owners and employees care about the shop and their brand and have found an effective way to market it. Their shop is full of the best you can find products from prana, North Face, Patagonia, black diamond and many others. There prices are more than reasonable and I cant say enough for how nice the staff is. If youre looking to have outdoor adventures in the area these guys are more than knowledgeable and will point you in the right direction. Love this place.

Thanks to a friends suggestion I finally found the time to come here. The staff was super friendly. I had messaged them in the morning letting them know Id be stopping by with questions and the intent to purchase my first set of hiking gear.Was very pleased with the assistance I received and the information that was shared. Have had great luck with the consignment shop! The intake process is simple and I have been kept up to date on my sold items. Travis at River Rock has been excellent to deal with and I would recommend not only new purchase but use of their fantastic consignment program.

If its your first time hiking River Rock Outfitter welcomes ALL pace levels. My hiking guide was Meegana. She tells us some pretty interesting history behind each trail as well as some tips and tricks! She also loves her job which means you will have the best experience as youre hiking along side her. I have attended various classes through them as well as a few private lessons. Their programs have been top notch. I learn how to enjoy the equipment better every time. Their instructors are knowledgeable and take their time answering and helping each attendee with any trouble areas.When they say this is going to be a good class, I make sure I can go because they are right. All their activities are great. From hiking to paddling. Best place to start enjoying the great area we live in.

As someone who has been an outdoor enthusiast all his life, this place is a dream to have locally. Ive lived in CO and shopped at REI HQ, Patagonia etc. and although larger, those places pale in the personal touch that you feel when you walk into River Rock. I have bought two kayaks from them and they always go out of their way to ensure you find the best fit, even if it isnt something they carry! River Rock Outfitter has a great selection of gear and they also have kayak and SUP rentals. They have enough rock gear to build a trad rack. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable about the area - exactly what I hope for in local outdoor shop. This place is great for the outdoor community and I am more than happy to support them with purchases.

Brought my 16 year old daughter in for her first pair of hiking boots. As others have said the selection was not enormous, but it was the best value of everything you actually need without all the stuff that I consider to be useless fluff. Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. Prices were fair. Highly recommended.

Best best best shoes I’ve ever had. I own a restaurant down the street from River Rick Outfitters, Eileen’s Bakery and Café. Came in one day with my feet sooooo abused from the shoes I was wearing and couldn’t stand it anymore. They introduced me to Oboz. Amazing support, padded inside and nonslip. Went back to work the next day with no PAIN!!!!!! Bought my next pair over the phone ( they keep detailed records), didn’t have time to park and they effortlessly ran it out to my car when I drove by. Have not been able to find good hiking boots for years. Went to River Rock and April, one of the owners took her time and helped fit me. I wore the boots all day on a Friends of the Rappahannock trash pick up and was very happy with the purchase! River Rock provides a personal service that you just wont find anywhere else in the area and a demonstrated knowledge of the available products.

Nice to have a provisions shop locally. Its small but it does cover all the bases. Super knowledgeable staff. Great sales.

During our first visit to Fredericksburg my wife and I came upon River Rock by coincidence, looking for some recommendations for a bike ride. Owners are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Also very good selection of quality apparel and equipment. Were planning on coming back for a full weekend and doing a rock climbing trip with them.

This store is awesome. Great selection of gear and clothing in a convenient location with phenomenal customer service. Ive met both the owners; a husband and wife team who are just very down to earth and good people. Theyll just be walking around the store helping customers out and you wouldnt even know that they are the owners. Locally owned by some really fantastic people. Not only do they sell the equipment, but the ACTUALLY USE IT as well, not like the larger stores who simply hire some local college kid to sell you the most expensive thing in the store.
