A technician appointment took two weeks and lots of phone calls to get, and then when ADT cancelled at the last minute, they just put us at the back of the line with another two week delay. The technician who finally came was very competent, but he told us the ADT App detection warning we were worried about didnt actually mean anything, that is, it wouldnt have set off the alarm. Why didnt someone just tell us that in the first place and save us all the trouble and worry we went through on this?!
George, the installation technician, was fantastic. In fact, he is the only reason we stayed with ADT. Your sales team and customer service provided us with completely inaccurate information, causing us to spend unnecessary hours of driving and aggravation. Without George I would have moved to Brinks. Any commission paid to your sales team should go to George. This review would be zero stars without him.
I love my new ADT upgrade and Im paying less monthly. Thanks to my installer, Dan, I know everything about the systems. He was very knowledgeable and kind. Thanks again Dan!!
Terrible service, be careful when youre offered an upgrade as this can be the beginning of the end for your peace. Very unsatisfied for their lack of training and communication skills.

Horrible - I had a broken ankle so I could not see what Caleb from ADT was doing. Every door/window was done VERY SLOPPY. DId not clean latex from the old security system. Did not take all old security sensors off. Put new sensors where ever was the least amount of work for him - no matter how it looks. Sensors on windows are not all put in correct place and go off during thunder storms. ADT completely ignores our complaints. If you want your windows and doors to look as horrible as ours, then go with ADT. Please see pictures below if you want ADT to make your home look like this.Once you post a negative review online, the company sends out a canned contact us link to provide the impression that they care. I than get a message from Mr. Rob Sladden but when I call him back, he will not pick up nor return any calls. Is this REALLY CUSTOMER SERVICE ADT?
During my install at my new home, the installed never engaged me and asked me what would be best for my family needs as to the installation. After I declined the up-sells, he was laser focused on performing a standard install and even determined that I did not require a sensor on a parameter door on my 2nd floor. Our family enters our home from the garage door and the panel is installed at the front door. We have had two instances were the alarm was discharged and ADT never received a signal. The solution is always to purchase something additional or add an additional service. I have other property using ADT service in other states and I am disappointed and hoping for a resolution and equipment that works for my family needs. I had a tech visit on Friday and he could not even locate the power source for the installed ADT equipment. SMH
Technician was very polite and very kind. He resolved the issue in a very knowledgeable and professional manner. He is an example of a model employee for ADT. Annie and myself(Richard) are very happy with the results.
The technician quickly identified the problem with the system and provided an explanation in terms that I could clearly understand.
I took ADT over a year ago. For the first year or so, it worked fine. Now, thats another story. It happened three times in two months and the last two times two weeks apart. The box loses the signal to the tower, and then there is an alert every hour. Good luck with sleeping with that stuff. And of course its always at night. I am giving them one more chance and then I dont see the point to have an alert service part time for almost 60.00 a month.Just fed up

We have been customers for over 40 years. Will be for the next 40 until we are 120.
Every few months they have to come out and fix something. My friends with other security companies dont have that problem. Too often they dont fix the problem the first time.
Technicians in the Gaithersburg, MD area are useless. 3 visits on a brand new install in 6 weeks for fault equipment they refuse to replace.
Wow, just Wow - Tech visited in Dec Installed two circuits to three new doors, replaced my main panel, added new battery for back-up and a new router - Total bill around $400.....Service has not worked since he left - Tried to get a tech back, eventually stopped my auto pay - Then there AP department started calling me.....They tried three times to connect me to sales/service..Twice was placed on hold for more than 30 minutes....Supposedly they cancelled my account - Would you pay the bill ADT? for NO SERVICE.....Reached out to their Chief Customer Officer - Jamie Haenggi I will keep you posted.
Professional, Courteous, Secure.NOT the least expensive solution however my best overall choice in Burglar and Life Safety device installation and monitoring. I used the Corporate ADT direct Sales/Installation. I chose not to use an Authorized Dealer for many reasons; mostly like the one I read below, but also knowing that Dealers are Sub Contractor based companies, while ADT offers their own Employees, Local and Newly Improved customer service, direct to the consumer. Why use a middleman? I have found that working directly with a source is far better than going through secondary or third parties. I feel secure knowing that ADT is 140 years strong, and with a 6 million customer base, most likely will be around for my lifetime to serve all my needs.
Absolutely terrible. We sold our home to build a new one. We were told it would be no problem to put our service on hold. And if we wanted to cancel our contract we needed to pay 75% of the remaining contract. We assured them we wanted their service when our new home was built (3-4 months). Fast forward 30 days and we get a bill for $1k for canceling our contract. Apparently there is no such thing are putting an account on hold and we needed to pay the 75% immediately to keep it from going to collections. I spoke with FOUR different people who provided different information. Terrible training and communication. I cannot wait to pay this off and be done with ADT. We will never use their service again.

I cant get them to leave me alone.The day I moved in a salesman came to the door and said we had an appointment. I said I didnt make an appointment and asked who made it and he didnt know. I told him there was nowhere to sit and he could come back in two days between the hours that the cable man was coming. He agreed and then never showed up.This was almost a month ago.Last night he showed up at my door at 7:20pm while I was watching tv with popcorn and a beer with my spouse who works a million hours and I barely ever get to see. I was immediately annoyed and basically said, I dont have time for this right now. Im winding down for the night. Then he still asked if he could come in, like he didnt even hear what I just said. He proceeded to explain that he had stopped by because he couldnt get in touch with me by phone. I just wanted him to go away so I could enjoy the rest of my evening. I practically had to shut the door in his face, which made me feel bad because I hate being rude, but you cant just be showing up that late at night expecting people to want to talk business.At this point, I am no longer interested. I dont own anything so special someone that I would be a target anyway, so the more I think about it the more it sounds like a waste of money. If somebody wants to take on two 80-lb pitbulls in order to burglarize my home for the same mediocre TV set they can steal anywhere else on the block, then I invite them to do so. Its just not something Im going to worry about.
I recently had ADT installed in my home. The person who installed it has been harassing me with text messages and phone calls up to a month later. When I called ADT to complain they said that it wasnt their problem and I needed to call the subcontractor, Defender Security. I just found out the installer was fired due to something on another job and it has been a month later and I am STILL getting calls from the installer with NO support or guidance from ADT other than to call the police if I am threatened. Horrible, scary experience!!!Edited (8 years later): Please note- it took them EIGHT YEARS to reply to this negative comment to say that they always strive for stellar service. That is about the service you can expect from them!
Hard sell salesman came to the door late at night and would not take no for an answer. Was cussing at me and telling me my dogs would die if I didnt get ADT.
After years of poor service (e.g. panic code entered from my address, after which ADT called to verify if there was any problem...3 HOURS LATER!) I cancelled the service in February 2014. Immediately phone calls started pouring in asking me to come back, offering newer and greater services, etc, which I denied. A bill came in May, which, like a good citizen, I paid thinking it might be the balance on my account up to discontinuation date. Now is August, and another bill rolls in. When I called them up, I was told that my account has never been disconnected, there is no record of such request or any phone call, they can disconnect it now, but I still have to pay. Seriously? The dam alarm has been taken off the wall, what the hack were they monitoring all this time? That goes to illustrate the amount of protection you get from them. Not to mention the casual attitude of the customer representative (Larissa) the fact that the manager (Davina) could not be reached...busy as she was. So in conclusion, doing my part as a customer, paying on time, following the proper disconnection procedures etc. was not enough. I was supposed to check on them make sure they did their job and operated the change in the system, and now that I didnt do that, is nothing they can do, I am supposed to pay for their incompetence, since they have no proof I have really called and cancel. Then why did they flooded me with all the we want you back phones and flyers, I wonder. Theyll graciously cancel my service now. And then what? check on them everyday make sure that it was processed this time and the recording is still on file, until I get another bill that Ill have to battle? It is not my job, miss busy manager, its yours! Since there is nothing that ADT will do, I am of course going to ask for help from the Consumer Advocates Bir. and BBB, but Im so disgusted with ADTs sad performance.
