I was excited to try a salon that said they also do natural hair. Upon booking 2 appointments one for me and one for my friend, I was under the impression we would each get a stylist. However, only one lady worked on our hair. Thy advertise that they do natural hair but the “silk press” we received was a regular press. We were on the salon for 8hrs. She was scissor happy when it came to trimming. She also had negative talk about natural hair and proceeded to say how stylist don’t want to do our hair because it takes too long. The service was overpriced for what we got. Usually a silk press lasts 2-3 weeks, but the stylist said “it may last 1 day.” Overall I was not pleased with this salon experience, will not be going back or recommending it.
Salon is conveniently located at my local mall. I made an appointment for my mother. She wanted color (bleach) and a not too short hair cut.The manager did the color and hair cut. She was very patient and took her time with her. She made sure my mother was happy.Mom was very happy, the cut and color came out like she wanted it.Staff was nice. Salon was neat, bathroom was clean
I came to the salon for a haircut to ease me with my pregnancy this summer a little bit. I told the front desk staff that I need a haircut and she asked me IF I have an appointment and I said no as I happen to pass by the salon and didn’t know that I had to make one. Anyway, she said it’s okay and will see if she can find a stylist available. She had me wait for a good 10-15 mins, heard her page for the stylist. While I was sitting at their waiting corner, a person whose name is Evelyn approached & introduced herself to me & said she was gonna be my hairstylist. She had me sit down as she prepares her stuff. I told her I just need a haircut and don’t need a shampoo or hair wash as I am pregnant and did not want to spend more time doing that (I always shower when I get home).. she started a small talk with me by saying she gave her son haircut last night and asked me briefly how far along I am in my pregnancy… before she begins, I asked her if I can show her a picture of the haircut that I want and she looked at it on my phone and we both confirmed and agreed as I repeatedly said to her, not too short just like this (referring to the photo/s on my phone again), shoulder length. When she saw the picture, she told me oh you want to cut your hair really short which surprised me because it obviously wasn’t too short but anywAy, I figured that was her idea of being short..not sure if there was something with her eyesight or what. I was confused but I thought, she’s a stylist and she knows. She began sectioning my hair from the front of my face then back. She did it for a while and was a bit sluggish and though it made me feel uncomfortable as I felt something was off with the way she was doing it, I trusted her since again, she’s a stylist. She finally took a bunch of hair just in the back, and without sectioning/clipping by layers like other stylists would usually do based on my experience, she didn’t and went ahead and chopped off my hair! I stopped her when I felt something she did was really off but it was too late! I started to freak out and turned sideways to look in the mirror and to my surprise, she cut my hair reaaaaallly short!! It wasn’t just cut short, it was extremely UNEVEN especially on the left side!!!!! It looked like I had an undercut from behind and the whole thing was just reaaally horrible to look at. I told her why she did it and said well, you said shoulder length. I said that’s you’re idea of a shoulder length and the other staff came to I think somehow sympathize and calm me down and I turned to her and asked her if she thinks what she did was shoulder length and said NO….Evelyn (the stylist) kept insisting it is shoulder length and I still don’t get where she’s getting that idea from! I felt so stressed at that time and mad but I remained calm for the sake of my pregnancy condition but the cut section of my hair looks sooooo awful you wouldn’t think a hair stylist just did that.. I felt like I was a guinea pig being in the hands of a super newbie and inexperienced stylist. I started asking her and the staff there if she really was a stylist and all they could do is to say, of course, yes she is but they OBVIOUSLY know it was absolutely awful what she did to may hair. It was too late. The back part of my hair was cut really short and uneven and that staff tried to pacify me and said don’t worry they’re gonna get it fixed and the haircut is on them. She washed my hair and sat me down. Eventhough she was apologetic, sympathetic and nice, I wasn’t confident she would be able to totally fix it as while she was combing my hair, she kept asking the other stylist (older than her, I forgot who between them was Gabby) but since that other stylist was tending to another customer at that time, she said she will help her and show her how to fix it just let her finish with that customer. When she finally finished, that staff started fixing the rest of my hair (whatever she can still save) and she did most of the work. CONTINUATION ON THE NEXT REVIEW
A hidden treasure indeed! I have been coloring and processing and highlighting my hair for decades. I went to Kim at the salon based on a friend’s hairstyle. Kim is highly talented! Kim is highly efficient! Kim is incredibly personable and friendly! And Kim’s expedited service was the cherry on top! Do not hesitate ladies. Kim at JCPenney salon in Garden City is a first class choice!
I wish I could give them 0 stars. I have an undercut, and needed it trimmed, I asked the lady to put a 3 cover on the razor before she cut it and she said okay, and started cutting it using a comb instead of the cover, so I thought it was okay, she then took the comb away and shaved the side of my head completely bald. But if that wasn’t enough, she realized her mistake and didn’t finish, so half of it was bald, and half of it was unevenly short. I’ve actually had to get headbands and hats to cover it until it grows back in. This lady ruined my hair, even though I feel like my request was very straight forward, and I’ve never had a problem with anyone cutting it before. Do not go here.
I booked an appointment online with a top stylist for a haircut, i received a phone call to confirm the day before my appointment (the appointment was very early morning ), stylist was ready for me and took her time with my hair. I so very much appreciate this because many places i have patronized are like factories, don’t even take a look at your hair or scalp, just go through the motions of getting as many ppl in and out the chair. Anyway, i very much enjoyed my shampoo, my cut and blow-dry! Ms Jeevan was a tremendous professional and I am very happy with my cut.
I’ve been going to this salon for every haircut, my stylist is Alexandra and she is an angel sent from above. She never disappointments me and I don’t have anyone but her style and cut my hair. Place is lovely and the ladies are all so sweet.
I’ve never had a bad haircut here! Selena, Edith, and Kim are all amazing. Everyone at the front desk is polite and welcoming!
CONTINUATION OF MY PREVIOUS REVIEW (NAME-JANICE). UNFORTUNATELY, THE SPACE WASN’t ENOUGH FOR MY ENTIRE REVIEW SO I HAD TO CREATE ANOTHER ACCOUNT SO I CAN POST THE REST OF MY REVIEW.The staff who combed my hair and washed my hair first did some cutting too but evens, I wasn’t really confident with the way she was handling me probably she was also nervous that she might all the more mess it up or she just didn’t know or wasn’t sure how to do the rest (though she was continuously getting instructions from the other staff who seemed more experienced). She tried to switch back and forth between me and that customer she was tending to possibly try to pacify me and convinced me it will be fixed. I still kept asking them if Evelyn was really a stylist because something was not right with the way she did my hair and how she was behaving ( I don’t know something was just really off). Despite that, I didn’t say anything bad about her just kept wondering if she knew what she was doing because obviously she didn’t! They finally did some fixing on my hair but of course, it was toooo late to save the back. I said as long as the sides don’t look off and disconnected with the back that was chopped off too short and uneven, I should be fine with it. and I kept telling them that I didn’t ask for a complicated haircut in fact so simple but don’t know what I ddid to deserve that. I remained nice and calm until the end and appreciative to the point that I tipped the two staff who fixed my hair because of the effort but deep inside, I felt so mad and so neglected by the first staff. I told them the front looked perfect (the length, exactly what I wanted for the supposed outcome) but still, I wasn’t happy because nothing else at this point can be done until my hair in the back grows back after a couple of months. They gave me 3 coupons with 20% off each and told me to call when my hair grows back to a good length and they will fix it. First of all, coupons will never ever compensate a customer’s misery and awful experience caused by one of your staff (Evelyn). Second, they should have at least told me as an already extremely dissatisfied in rage customer that I shouldn’t be liable paying for that fix they’ve promised me to get the next time I come back (after my hair grows back). Third, I have every right to deeply express my feelings through this review and NO, I don’t intend to ever come back to have my hair fixed there even after I grow my hair back and use the coupons you gave me. It was my first and worst experience I had in a salon in the hands of INEXPERIENCED, UNSKILLED HAIR STYLIST/s. This experience has caused me a sudden onset of distress. All I wanted was to feel good about myself in the height of pregnancy hormones physical manifestation on me but Evelyn took that simple happiness away from me. JC PENNEY, I do hope this does not happen to other customers. I hope this review serves as an eye opener. I would feel for them and I cannot imagine what would the outcome of that moment be if it happens to be another customer who was not as calm and appreciative despite of what happened. I do hope this review reaches the management and do something to improve the service you provide your customers. Do not just brush this review off. Take it seriously. I know there are good staff who work there hard and your salon is forever stained because of this and other bad reviews. I do hope that you won’t treat this like any ordinary bad review but take it as a step for improvement and taking your business a lot more seriously. Please do not place INEXPERIENCED and UNSKILLED STAFF at your salon if you would like to continue good business with your customers.Sincerely,Extremely dissatisfied and distressed customer
We were looking for someone to color my daughters ends for her sixteenth birthday. We thought instead of trying any old salon go with someone who we thought knew what they were doing. On April 15,2018 we came for our appointment with Elena (I think is how you spell it). She was very courteous but seemed nervous from the get go, still we moved forward. She began the bleachin and I could see some places where she was going off too high or too low(not centimeters in one spot an inch difference) I said is fine it would blend or hoped so. Then she did not use the color she had bought specifically for my daughter ( we wanted a red, vibrant almost ruby like) she ultimately used a color they had in the store and it ended up auburn not RED and dull. Within a week it looked like someone’s orange grandma hair. I paid over $100.00 for a job that was way below par, we are extremely disappointed and now my daughter has orange her for her sixteen birthday. We will NOT be returning to this salon nor do we recommend it to anyone..
The girl I had was very rude. I do not care how long you have been doing hair for, you do not speak to or treat customers that way. She did not give me what I wamted at all, when I said leave the length amd said what highlights i wanted she did not listen. She proceeded to do whatever she wanted. She even made me fold the foils for the highlights myself. Extremely rude and unprofessional. Will tell everyone how horrible the service is.
Jennifer was so accommodating to us and all of our needs, especially when there was a blackout and we had to work our way around all of the dye and darkness and hair clippings!
Talented Stylists!! They know hair and make you look fabulous!!!! Thank you Maureen!!!!
Don’t say your store opens at 11, if you only show up at 11:30. Terrible service, very rude. They have no concern for the customers.
Nice place
