Academy has always been a source of quality for us. The brands they sell here not only give a very superior quality but also are long lasting and of course we are paying for the quality of the stuff we get. It sometimes, I feel, more than the material quality, it is, the fitting quality that is the best part of it. The apparels are so well designed for all, the fitting itself pays it all. The store is big with variety of superior brands, so well organized that gives a very good shopping satisfaction.

Academy is a first class enterprise. They have a full inventory and they know what people really want. Everybodys happy and friendly.

Excellent place for the types of things you might be looking for. Friendly greeting at the door, friendly staff throughout the store. Everyone goes out of their way to try and help you. And its not too crowded so you dont feel like youre getting squeezed or feel overly nervous about covid-19. Though I would still wear a mask. Limited supply of guns. Even more limited supply bullets. But thats a problem everywhere.

Everything was clean and put away nicely I also have a male employee walk past me and asked me, if I found everything I was looking for or if I needed help looking for anything. which was very nice I didnt have to hunt someone down to find anything that I needed. Also the older gentleman that works behind the counter at the gun department was very nice and very helpful I will definitely shop here again.

Good service, great location and good prices. The comparison I have between these guys and their biggest competitor (in the Firewheel Mall) is I think they have a bigger selection of cleats, hiking boots and basketball shoes (my care-abouts).So for that matter I think their everyday prices are better. I say that because I go to their competitor just up the road to look at their sales but I go to Academy and find their prices are everyday prices.Now that there is an Academy closer to me, I think I will go here more often because the prices and the larger selection VS their competitors is what attracts me.

Disappointing approach to ammunition sales during shortage. I have purchased both a firearm and ammunition at this store prior to the shortages and when I went to inquire a couple of days ago about ammo shown as in stock on the website, I was told by the salesman that yes they had some supplies in the back but they would only sell a single box to me that day if I purchased a firearm. In spite of the stock shown on the website they were withholding stock for people that would also buy a firearm. Pretty poor policy for their returning customers. I understand shortages, I accept rationing, but this sort of policy will keep me out of this store for some time to come if not for ever.

Good selection and multiple staff members were friendly and helpful assisting me find a few different items.

My only problem was playing musical cashiers ended up going to three cashiers before getting checked out due to personnel going on break I guess.

Not organized, looking for shoes and display shoes are not in the correct location and salespersons first day and with no help to figure out the stocking system! Which there was no system. Worst Academy I have visited. The rain jackets were not in the assigned location they with gun cleaning location.Then the price on hanger was not matching the register price.

I was in today to purchase some clothing for by son. I was particularly impressed with the customer service. Arin was really helpful and respectful. He even noticed by A&M baseball cap and mentioned there were A&M face masks in another section of the store which I might like. I went over and bought a few because of his suggestion.

This academy is great. the only thing im concerned about is there were not many options especially on regular hats. Still a good spot for your basic athletic and camping needs though.

Needed to go here to help gear up and replace gear for my Marine. Fair prices, large selection. Staff on duty was not very well versed with firearms even though that was the counter they were working. But very helpful with helping us order some stuff.

Not much assistance available in the fitness section. I was greeted at the front by a very kind person but that was the closest I got to any offer of assistance. Prices and selection are ok. Not great, just ok.

Finally able to get some ammo

Good selection, sanitized buggy, social distancing, and everyone I saw was wearing masks. Lots of sales and very well stocked. Lots of employees keeping everything in its place. I highly recommend.

Clean and found size 14 tennis shoes for a good price. The only thing that kept it from being a 5 was only one cashier was working and there were many in line even though another cashier was in the service area and she didnt tell anyone she would help them.

Looked for youth soccer shoes, they didnt have the right size for our daughter, they called around looking for the size at other locations, they found a wrong shoe but they helped, sort of....

They do not carry the striped baseball socks without any brand name logo. Only solid colors or Adidas

I was there 2 times to get ammo. Price was great comparing to other places. Long line outside waiting the store open to come in. Employees were standing there every 10-15ft to keep everyone in check. It’s like black friday thingy. Experience was great!!!

First time shopping alittle expensive not bad

Terrible. I went in to buy a $200 weight bench. Told the guy at the front door I needed help. He acted like he called someone. I stood there for 15 minutes waiting for someone to show up. I finally got tired of standing there twiddling my thumbs because nobody showed up and I walked out. Order the same thing on Amazon for $50 less. Academy lost a $200 sale. Guess it doesnt matter. Ill remember that next time I need something.

Always thought that this is the best sports and outdoor stores in Texas. They support a wide variety of different sport and outdoor activities. Its the first stop i make when in need of something.

Allllllllway sold out of ammo cause the sell 5 boxes per person and the people with no job line up at 8am on weekdays when shipments come in and buy it all.

One of the customer service associates acted as if my shopping was a bother to her. Wouldnt even make a suggestion about purchases I wanted to make. Suggested I shop some where else, so... I took my business elsewhere. The cashier was nice though who rang up my snickers bar.

This was the first time I did curbside pickup. I followed the instructions by clicking the link that was texted. 10 minutes later I called because I was the only person waiting. The person who answered didnt know that I was outside. And he said that he would get out as soon as he could. Another 10 minutes later I called and he finally came out. I did yell at the person who brought it because the website encouraged online ordering with incentives so they should have an employee dedicated to online service. I wasnt the only customer that waited too long.

Academy needs to get a better system for updating inventory status on their website. Its quite annoying when you drive fifty miles to purchase something that the website shows in stock at a specific location only to find you have wasted your gas, time, and money when you get there. Other large retail chains seem to have an IT department competent enough to know that modern equipment with the right software can achieve accurate real-time inventory of every location. Even when you account for the margin of error from theft and unprofessional employees holding back high-demand items for themselves, friends, or family,.

Will never go here again. My husband an I went in to buy me a gun I did the questionnaire an when I was done she kept looking at my husband ( he’s back) then told me that I was denied because I said yes to the question that I am buying for someone else but this is my fourth gun an I know I didn’t miss that questing an the whole time she’s looking at my husband even he was just standing there playing in the phone. She then said I can’t apply for 30days. Then when I questioned it she started going around it an making excuses.

The process took much longer than expected, and much of it couldve been avoided. On 10/30/2020 I spoke with Kevin about purchasing a G3c. We had a great conversation, and I told him that I would come back that afternoon with my girlfriend. We came by the store close to 5pm, and AJ tried to assist me. When I started the background check on the tablet, that there was 15% power left, and I asked him if that would be enough time to complete the background check, and he said yes. Well a few minutes after I started, the tablet ran out of power. He plugged it in, but I was unable to complete the application. He gave me another tablet, and I wasnt able to log on, I believe because I was still logged on the first tablet, which was charging. Im not sure what he did, but when he asked me to log in the second tablet again, I was able to, and complete the application. After about an hour, there was no status of my application, and he texted me much later, that it was a pause. While Im not 100% sure, I believe that it had something to do with the botched process with the first tablet. I received a call from Michael the next day that my background check was approved, and that I could stop by and complete my purchase. My girlfriend and I went to the store and were waiting in line for almost two hours. Alex came to assist us, and we ended up buying a C2c for her, along with my C3c. Her background check came back within minutes, and there were no issues with the tablet. Another delay was the lack of managers able to review the purchase agreements and approve the sale. According to Alex there were only three managers with that authority. This was my first gun purchase and it was painful. I dont believe it should be that hard or take that long.

The store is clean, well organized, but the staff is amazingly nice and helpful for people not getting commission. Of course there are always some who will disagree because every retail has slackers, but I’ve never met one in this store. No pushy sales, but helpful when I need something.

It really mess and bad

They need more things for larger people, considering Ive never seen a hunter or fisherman who wore a small. Im 3x and I only thought I was obese til I saw some of the people at the diabetes clinic. Us big people need swanky patriotic duds too! Other than that the one member of their personnel I interacted with was very polite.

Store is opened but I thought I would save some time by ordering online and picking up at the store. Placed the order online and waited for them to confirm the order as Mother’s Day is tomorrow and I need the items today. Called them 3 hours later because I did not get a notice. Placed on hold too long so I decided to go to store myself. The guy at the pickup center looked at my order on his handheld device and said with certainty that there was none on the shelf. I asked if he was sure, he replied “100%”. I asked him why would the store sell me something that they know doesn’t exist, he doesn’t have a reply. I asked him for a refund and he helped me processed it through my email receipt. I then went to the shelf and there it was. I paid for it and walked by the gentleman to let him know it was on the shelf, to which he replied “oh...ok...”
