I had a sales experience that was so much better than I anticipated and that was due to Jared Peters. I started shopping around online, and truly wanted to buy at my favorite dealership closer to home, but Tonkin had the exact used car I was looking for. As I work full time and care for my mom when Im not at work, I didnt have time to visit dealerships and spend hours looking. Having my financing already lined up made it nearly effortless. The only challenge was to my patience, waiting 2 weeks for the car to be inspected. When Jared jumped in to start fielding my questions and give me more info about the car, I knew that the process would go as smooth as possible. He was always timely, helpful, and informative. First purchase at this dealership, but we’ve bought many vehicles over the years. By far, this was one of the smoothest transactions we’ve encountered. Everything was digitized, so the application and document portion was extremely efficient. And the value we received for our trade, and our purchase, were equitable for all parties involved. I bought my car at Weston Kia in 2018 and was getting service out there but it was far away so I thought I would try Ron Tonkin since its really close. Bad mistake. In August/September I got my oil changed and a replacement cabin filter. The tech spilled oil in the engine bay and used a chemical to clean it up.Nobody of course told me this. I drove away and white smoke and a putrid burning smell was coming from under my hood. I drove back to my house and opened the hood to find spray residue all over my engine bay. I took it back and the rep mentioned that the tech spilled oil and there was likely residue from the cleaner they used. Alright that makes sense but why not take the extra 5 minutes to actually wipe and clean your mistake prior to the customer leaving? The rep did clean the area better but the interior of my car smelled like burning oil for days.Fast forward to today. I noticed that my AC/heater blower motor was making a loud noise. I thought something had gotten into my cabin filter like a critter. I opened the cabin filter compartment and found that the Ron Tonkin tech had broken a latch on the door that seals the cabin filter. When I pulled the cabin filter out it was all smashed into the compartment allowing debris to get into the blower. I took the car back to Ron Tonkin and the rep did do the right thing of replacing the compartment door and filter. There was no apology though. No refund offered. Best of all? I have to take the car back to the dealership for 3-4 hours because they need to disassemble the dash to clean the blower fan. All of this could have been avoided, including their staffing time, had the person who replaced the cabin filter taking 5 minutes to check their work and do the job right the first time. With this track record I am concerned whether the job will be done right this time.

This was easily the best car buying experience Ive ever had. I went in wanting to look at a specific car. They had it parked out front, ready to test drive. Jared helped me and he was super friendly and helpful. No one was pushy or rude.The car I wanted had a crack in the windshield and I didnt even have to mention it, they told me it would be replaced. Sure enough, I bought my car on a Saturday and they called to schedule the replacement Monday morning.Im not a huge fan of the car buying process, but this was so easy and refreshing. So happy I gave them a chance and I got to leave with exactly what I wanted.

Excellent service. Just had them do maintenance on my Kia. Lobby is nice, with complementary coffee. They have the best kids area Ive seen at a dealership, our 1.5 year old had a blast. Test drove two vehicles while waiting, but no pressure to buy.

I bought my car here about 10 years ago. My car is still going strong but the service at this dealership is horrendous, mainly the maintenance and repair shop. I used to use them excusively for oil changes and small repairs. I went in for a routine oil change and after literally waiting for four hours in the dealership, they finally come out and tell me that the lever used to pop the hood is broken and that I will have to pay hundreds extra to get it fixed. I know it wasnt broken before I brought it in because I checked my oil days beforehand. The man kept trying to convince me that it wasnt them. They also told me they were unable to complete my maintenance because of it. That was one experience.Im not sure why I made the stupid decision to come back several months later when my car needed some engine repairs and parts replacements, but I did. Im one of those people who dont know anything about cars except the basics and they knew that. They gave me a layout of everything they would be doing and how much each item would cost. I left my car with them for several days and when I returned to pick it up and pay, they said everything went well and was all done. I asked my friend who is a professional mechanic for the city to look at what they had done and compare it to the list they gave me. The mechanics at the dealership only completed half of what they charged me $500 for. In my honest opinion, the Ron Tonkin Kia repair shop are liars, swindlers and cheats. Do not do business with them!

For my first ever time purchasing a car, Tonkin was outstanding in their knowledgeability, friendliness, and professionalism. Jake Ryan was my salesman and he found a dream car for myself. He knew what he was talking about and even went as far to get the car ready for me, washing and vacuuming out the inside for dust. If I ever am going to get a car again, I cant recommend here enough!

Came for my scheduled recall on April 24 but they forgot to order the parts and told me I couldnt get the service done. I was shocked because they had several weeks to order the parts. Travis told me to find another dealer if I didnt like it. Well, the manager Geoff* called me in June and apparently they ordered the parts anyways and schedule me again for 6/19, I arrive for my appointment again and CDC guidelines have changed, I am Fully vaccinated and arrived for a service appointment, they decided to segregate me outside next to an engine block and a card box because I was unaware their company policy went against CDC guidelines and required masks, otherwise I would have scheduled my appointment elsewhere. I really cannot express how demeaning it was to be treated in such a way. They make you feel like second class citizens and have no shame about it. They definitely could have acknowledged that our own state guidelines do not require masks.In my opinion, I think this was racially motivated by Travis. A white Hispanic man who segregated me outside. Do not come here.Reply to manager below:. They had no issue bringing me right back in to the building to sign paperwork, so they definitely were segregating me and on some sort of power Trip. I am not sick and was very polite to their staff as I have been during every visit which previously included purchasing 4 tires in 2019. Definitely cannot recommend this establishment any less than I already have.

Walked in to test drive only, and drove away in our new Kia Carnival...we love it so much, such a cool vehicle. Had a great experience at the dealership; we worked with Aimen, and he was wonderful...very low pressure and laid back while also being knowledgeable, honest, and respectful. I drove across town to check out a late model used car they had just listed, and was not disappointed. I was met on the lot by Aimen and he was a wealth of information about the car and its history. He facilitated all the communication with the business office and made sure I was taken care of throughout the entire process. Highly recommended!

If I could give 0 stars or negative stars I would ! Do not go here ! They scammed me so bad and lied to me about what was included in my deal. I found out when I went back in 6 months for my service and it was not covered and then they tried to make it my fault when I said multiple times I wanted it included. Also my tires already loosing air regularly but since they missed including the service plan Ill have to pay out of pocket. I had an amazing trade in and all I wanted was a lower monthly payment and for the service to be included thats all ! I should have just stuck with my higher payment and stayed with Honda where the service was amazing and I felt very taken care of all around. If I hadnt already put an alarm on this and a stereo in it I would be starting over elsewhere and cutting my losses but whatever lesson learned I will never go back here ever not even to scheduled service.

They helped me and my husband both get new vehicles and were very patient with us as we were closing on our home loan as well. We visited three Kia dealerships in the Portland market, and our experience at Ron Tonkin Kia was far and away the best. Our sales consultant, Jared Peters, was patient and informative. Jacob Linn, the sales manager, was quick to follow up with us on fair pricing. Highly recommended!

Professionals. They did well by me. Ultimately they say they are totally unwilling to negotiate on the sale of their vehicles. This is simply not the case. I ended up walking out my first trip here to think more about my buying decision. A week later they contacted me and brought down the price of the vehicle I wanted to a more reasonable level. Be warned. They will install a GPS tracker into every vehicle they sell. Its a 300 dollar add on that they stick you with. if you want them to take out the tracker it supposidly takes two days. What they dont tell you is this is a service you have to pay for to keep active. Also. While your waiting for finance paperwork to be processed they well hand you a card for some type of insurance quote *DO NOT FILL THIS OUT* this insurance company sells your information to anyone and everyone and Ive been getting non stop scam calls ever since. Donovan was really helpful. No matter the make or model of car I wanted to look at, he found at least one and answered all of my questions about each car. He even helped me set up Apple Car Play once I decided which car I wanted to buy. I really appreciated that he never made me feel pressured or in a hurry and was a nice guy.I had been pre-approved by my credit union and Rebecca, in the finance department, got me a better interest rate. In addition to being a really sweet lady and the finance piece, she even called me the next day to check in and make sure everything was good.

Dishonest and NOT trustworthy Dealer -I called by seeing lease (attached screenshot) on rontonkinkia website. Ryan sales rep said they have the inventory and the price on website listed is accurate. So I went to Dealership after arriving Ryan confirmed have the car and sale price on website. Test drive went well, Agreed on the price, paper work started. Ran credit score and they said it looks good. At last they gave me final numbers 3 times more than what is on website I started asking why is it that different at first Ryan said that is because tax and license fee(i asked for break down number which they did not willing to provide). Which would not be more than $1000 in theory for lease even though i said it is fine and i will pay those fee as down payment and then after so much of their drama. Manager came out and said Kia is having outage and they cannot give me the deal what shows on their website. Really?Why do kia rep or manager did not told me in the very beginning of the process? Why right before the payment? why you want to waste customer time? You could have simple say Kia want more money or we dont want to sell what is listed on website at the very beginning that would save customer and your time.

Ive had fantastic service until they failed to mount a tire properly. Due to their own arragance, they refused to even check stock during the initial phone call to them. As I needed the car to start my dream job the next day, I had another location put on a new tire. Now this location even refuses to talk to me and is forcing me to take legal action against them.

Greg Whiteaker the GM at Tonkin Kia went out of his way to help us is a huge time of need. What we were asking was literally unthinkable to every other (3) company we went to. Not only did he go above and beyond he followed through on his word and helped us turn a poor decision on our part (regrettably bought a car we didn’t like from another dealer and needed out in two weeks. He took was was a gut wrenching situation for us and completely changed our situation, where everyone else walked away he came through and left a lasting impression. Had a wonderful experience at this dealership with both Iiel and the finance manager (Derek I believe)! Came here two days in a row before settling on a new Forte and received wonderful service from everyone. Despite giving short notice that Id be coming in Iiel had everything ready for my test drive (and purchase) in a matter of minutes. Why not offer me Fair Market Value on my trade-in. Never again!Any, by the way, every line on your lot had adjusted market on them.Not just 2. Yes, other dealers are doing it also, but at a third of what you are doing.

I love this dealership! I bought my 2019 Kia Forte Sport 2 yrs ago, and continue to bring it there for anything I need. This is the worst place to buy a car. I ask for a specific car, they said they had it there. Drove down to buy it and it wasn’t there. They told me that if I bought it they would deliver it the next day. Went to finance and asked for a guarantee delivery and found out they loaned the car out and didn’t know when it would be back. Sales people and manager’s are liars. Don’t buy a car here unless you want a bad deal

We were referred to Ron Tonkin Kia by a friend and I will say that we were pleasantly surprised how seamless the process went. We stopped at the dealership at 8:30am on a Saturday and left a little before 1:00pm. We were fortunate to work with Donovan, who has only been at Ron Tonkin for a few months, but you can tell he has a passion for cars and has taken the time to learn about what kind of cars are on the lot and what features they have.  We were impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. Being a first time customer with servicing my car. Specifically a full transmission flush as well as steering fluid, it took less then a hour and thats with 8-10 cars ahead of me they are speedy quick. Also Deanna in the service department made it a great experience 👍🏼

Another great experience with Ron Tonkin Kia. Aimen was great and worked real hard to make sure the car I got was safe for me and my kiddos. He was patient through all the financial bumps and kept me updated through the entire process! Would highly recommend him when looking for a car there!

Beware. They are charging $15k over MSRP on several new vehicles. There are better deals to be had and are the only ones marking up the vehicles at that price. They claim fist market value pricing but are charging way over what other local dealers are on identical models. Shop around as there are much better deals to be had elsewhere.

Ended up moving and needed a new car ASAP. Got the help of Jake Ryan and he was great and extremely helpful throughout the whole process. Ended up driving away with my dream car and the process was practically painless! Definitely will be coming back to Ron Tonkin Kia and hopefully working with Mr. Ryan again.

These guys went above and beyond to get me the exact Kia I wanted. I worked directly with salesman Iiel, but it was definitely a group effort—wild goose chase that involved exchanging their inventory with 2 other dealers. I’m high maintenance and knew exactly what I wanted—Ron Tonkin simply said “no problem”. Due to the wild goose chase that involved ~300 miles of travel (on their part, not mine), I wasn’t able to get my dream car until the day after, but all in all, I’m shocked by the helpfulness, fair pricing, cleanliness, and fun personalities that run this business like a family. I’ll never go to another dealer besides Ron Tonkin Kia.

Ive been car shopping for 1.5 months. The day I bought my car, I happened to stop in at this place just because. I was greeted by JACOB LINN.I was up front with what I was looking for (as Id been to several places before this that day so I was a little cranky) and he immediately went inside to find my budget & what I was looking for, after asking. He showed me a car and I wasnt interested. But then, he found another, exactly what I wanted, on the lot. Instantly, I was thrilled. Especially because the miles were low for the year and it was exactly the car Ive been searching for for 1.5 months. Even the color! I took it for a spin with Jacob.My impression of him is Personable & Friendly. He helped me navigate too as I dont know the area, whatsoever. He was just nice. When it came down to purchasing the car, he did everything he could to work with me. He wasnt pushy. I couldve changed my mind at any moment. He engaged with my kids (brownie points!) which is super cool because most sales persons dont acknowledge them. He offered beverages to us all. The best thing was, due to my non ability to pick up the vehicle, he offered to deliver! In which he followed through and did just that.
