We love this dairy queen! My review is based off of the comparison between this location and others in the Twin Cities that I have been to.The staff is attentive, pleasant, offers you a lid to go for your blizzards, and even puts the right amount of candy pieces into your blizzards. Ive been to some Dairy Queens that really cheap you on the candy pieces, and others that put so much that you have no ice cream. Which is weird that the topping ratio changes because theyre all a franchise. This locations staff additionally put a few of my candy pieces on top of the blizzard and a drizzle of chocolate! What a cute surprise. The picture attached is after I took a couple of bites of one side before I remembered to take a picture.
Fantastic little treat Dairy Queen. The ice cream treats are always made quickly and taste fantastic, and the employees are friendly and helpful. Ive never had a bad experience here!
Fastest service I’ve ever received from a DQ. The guys working were friendly. Heath Bar Blizzard was great
Family owned and operated by highschool kids that do it right! These kids bang through the orders fast and professional no matter if theres 5 or 50 in line! Always a great experience when we go there for a treat!
Has a small town feel! Its one of the older architectural styled dairy queens where you can walk up from the outside in order at the window or you can go inside the lobby. Theres lots of little plaques of different softball teams that the owner has supported over the years which is really sweet. There is no place to sit so whats up get your ice cream and go kind of place. Ive been there a few times now and the surface is always pretty fast
We love this dairy queen. The staff is always helpful and the treats are made well and quick. The manager, who is usually on duty on weekend evenings, is very competent and knows what he is doing.
The service is great but the prices is getting too high for me. I walked there and back saved on the gasoline It would take. I needed the exercise.
Do NOT stop here for ice cream or anything for that matter. The employees are obviously very young so I dont want to be too harsh here but they were extremely rude to me in the store. Also, I ordered a drumstick blizzard and they gave me a cup of vanilla ice cream with a giant scoop of peanuts. JUST PEANUTS. I tried to politely say this wasnt my order and they INSISTED this is what I wanted. Ended up going to a different Dairy Queen later on. Managers need to step in and supervise better. Lol dont waste your time here.
Got my Peanut Buster Parfait and it was as good as always. This DQ might close in the winter, it used to when it was a walk-up location. Thats always sad. But today it was open, so it was a good day.
Got a mini Oreo blizzard w/ pie crust and the total on my card popped up as $6.09. Obviously, this is pretty expensive for what I was getting (and honestly, Cold Stone is better). Anyways, after reading the reviews, I see that this DQ charges an addl $0.69 debit card fee. They should definitely let you know that before hand. Its confusing and smells like a scam.
This DQ has a large inventory of treats to go. I was in a pinch for a corporate event and was able to walk in and purchase 150 novelties without any lead time. The staff was very helpful and friendly, I will return!
I love DQ. This was my first time stopping at this location…Came around 9pm on a Saturday and a young woman made me the best blizzard ever!
Im here every couple weeks to get Dilly bars they are fresh n made here they are so good!!! 😋 yummy
I’m sorry but $3.96 for a SMALL vanilla cone with sprinkles? Am I missing something? This is a serious question.
Its a pretty busy location but you cant go wrong with DQ
Always fast, even when theres long lines. Mind the direction of the line as the parking lot can be chaotic.
Absolutely love this location, very nostalgic. Staff is always super friendly and quick. Dont let a big line scare you off. They move fast!! This is my #1 ice cream spot!
So I was in there. I was told my total was $3.97. I handed the employee my Visa card and asked for receipt. I was charged $4.66. There was .69 cents charge for using a credit card. I just confirmed that the most it costs this merchant, for me using a card, is 2.4 percent, so I was charged 15 percent. This is a rip off. (note I did not say anything to this very young employee)
The owner of this store is lier and cheap! My teenage daughter used to work there and when she wanted to quit to find a job with more hours and better pay he had the nerve to say she was disrespectful! Dude, you hire mostly teenagers so you can pay them a low wage and keep the profits! You should be thankful that you have gotten away with cheap child labor! Give me a break!
My favorite DQ in Minnesota! Plus, you can take a selfie by the spoon 😊
Awesome people. Love to bring the family here for summer treats
Good frozen snack for me and spouse on a hot Mpls 90-degree day.
Was really disappointed with this sad DQ. Ordered two blizzards and neither were actually mixed well, nor did they show the quality of the blizzards by holding them upside down because they would have poured on the counter. This was after they said we had to wait outside and order where we couldnt see the menu and had to ask verbally for the blizzard options (which apparently are the usual candies and such)... Dunno if the staff were just tired but they seemed like a bunch of highschool stoners with their lackadaisical attitudes. Go to a different DQ, this one isnt worth the trouble.Edit: turns out we got food poisoning from here too according to the thinmint-green unholy abomination that used to be our toilet... Down to one star.
We went and bought two icecream cakes and were very pleased! They will write on them when you pick up! They are mindful of time constraints with the cakes and very professional!
Great customer service! Delicious treats! Clean environment!
We are addicted to the Raspberry Fudge Bliss Blizzard! Yum!!! Excellent, speedy service!
One of the cleanest and friendliest Dairy Queens I have ever been to.
Mmmmm Mmmmmmm!!!...
Delicious peanut butter parfait, customized with chocolate ice cream. Very fast and efficient service.
So slow. Don’t come here unless you’ve got 45 mins to kill
Good DQ. Typically pretty busy.
DQ has shrunk the large malt, and this site seems to charge me $0.69 extra for using my debit card and they dont tell you that or post that theyre doing that.
Well trained employees help this DQ continue to be one of the better DQs Ive been to. And I have been to about 203 different DQs in the Midwest.
Do not go here, this was the worst Dairy Queen I’ve ever been to. I got a oreo blizzard and there were no oreos in there, the only thing was that they put oreo crumbs on the top and that was it. Don’t waste your money here.
Family owned business for ? 50+years ? I remember when I was a kid having my best friends mom drive us there frequently so Its really great seeing this wonderful anchor in our community have the longevity and success! They are a very longtime supporter of Golden Valley Girls Softball (GVGS) also !they have a walk up window now on the wall to the right of the west side door if you dont want to go in to order. Its not a brazier So no burgers and fries, however, they do have bbq sandwich and a chicken breast sandwich & chips if your are stopping for more than just a treat ! Oh and hotdogs as well ! And of course all the usual DQ treats and Orange Julius drinks also!
Small struggling family operation that should be shut down, they don’t accept coupons, don’t take mobile orders even while having extremely high prices. Rude stuff that lack timely service, how are they allowed to operate under the Dairy Queen name?
Not only is it close to my workplace but the treats are great
Great service and awesome ice cream! They even added vegan options for take home treats, and they have chocolate soft-serve. (If they had blueberries and frozen yogurt Id go 5 🌟!)Love me a blueberry banana split!
This dairy Queen is small and there is no drive-thru. unfortunately when you trying to order there could be other people in the lobby which is really small which wont provoke any social distancing. Most of the time people stand outside courteously but as you know not everybody is courteous. Their ice cream is really good as always. Usually theres a few cashiers and a few in the back but I never really had any problems. I just wish the lobby was open or there was some way to promote more social distancing while ordering. on the bright side there is an outside area where you can eat with plenty of parking space.
My brother and I ordered a large and medium Oreo Blizzard, respectively. The flavor is still there same as it was in our childhood except now they use less Oreo cookies. We each had what seemed like less than one cookie in our dessert beverage.
We stopped at this location after another nearby closed early. They are awesome. The owner and staff were friendly, quick and efficient. They mentioned they never close early and you can see why they have such better reviews than the other locations in the area.
Locally owned DQ. Always quick service!
Good food and drinks and friendly staff. If you love bananas the banana cream pie blizzard is for you. Tried the bbq sandwich, but think Ill stick to my norm next time. Just wish they had some type of fried potatoes, but I love my DQ!
A perfect unexpected treat. Great staff and wonderful service.
If I could give this place a zero or negative I would. Not one employee there was doing any kind of safe handling of food. It might not be a corporate location but I will be calling the health department tomorrow. Avoid at all costs. Please go to a different location.
Delicious. Fast and polite service!
Keep this place open the only one near where I live.
Great little gem. Friendly staff. Always busy but well worth the wait.
Always friendly staff and great food too. I never feel like I barely got anything as they give good portions.
Great food but pricey
I usually buy children size ice cream. And price went up 80cents more. Why?
Family owned. Well done service and good appearance
Love this place its like a dairy queen should beLike I remember growing up lots of variety
Great clean super friendly quick service triple berry smoothie delicious orange julis very good vanilla shake great
Awesome owners and staff. Id go to this DQ before any other one!!! Always great service and ice cream.
Yummy tastings
Dairy Queen with a small town feel. Great blizzards and customer service. They are willing to make what you want (even if its not on the menu).
Love this place! Ive been getting my kids birthday cakes there for over 2 years and they always do an excellent job. Even when we stop by for sundaes, the kids working behind the counter and the managers are quick, efficient and friendly - even on hot summer nights when its busy! I put an order in last week for a Oreo Blizzard cake with Joe. He was very friendly and followed my instructions to add pink frosting to the cake (3 year old girl - pink is a must have!). The cake was ready on time and was perfect in every way! Delicious!
The ice cream was good, but I’m irritated about the “cash discount.” To explain, the total for 2 small blizzards was $9.44. A bit expensive but not a dealbreaker. I use my card to pay for the order, and a payment notification pops up in my phone saying I’ve been charged $10.13.When there’s a cash discount, a customer would expect to have the price of $9.44 discounted to a lower price if they’re paying by cash. I wouldn’t expect to be charged more money than the total displayed on the register. I wasn’t even notified by the cashier that a fee was incurred. It’s not a cash discount if it’s just an additional charge. There’s a small sign next to the register that says there’s a “cash discount of $0.69.” However, it’s confusing as to why a hidden fee is added onto the total for card users. At least initially ask for $10.13 and then discount it to $9.44 if I use cash. That would be an appropriate way to apply a discount.I didn’t bother complaining to the cashier since she’s probably heard the same complaints all day and can’t do anything about it. Better to write a review so others know what to expect.
My husband and I absolutely love this place. So much so we drive past another Dairy Queen location on our way to this one. Always fast and friendly. Best part is they always have whatever flavor of blizzard you want, no matter the season. As a snickers blizzard fan, this is my go to as the franchise stores discontinued snickers 2 years ago. Cant wait for summer nights!
Service was great.
Our favorite DQ!! Walk up counter service, put down the tailgate and eat in the parking lot. Great service and always excellent ice cream.
Steer clear! Terrible handling of the COVID pandemic! This is the only establishment in Golden Valley I’ve been to that is not requiring staff to wear masks, which is against the CDC and MDH guidelines (as everyone knows)! When I called and voiced my concerns to the manager, he spoke in the most fake, demeaning, high pitched “happy”voice as he explained it’s not a requirement in this city and I could just go to the other DQ in Golden Valley if I’m uncomfortable. Thanks for the tip, I will!
This is our neighborhood DQ and we normally love going here, but on our visit none of the three staff had masks on. They stand behind plexiglass but that does little to protect themselves from each other in close quarters and nothing to protect the customers from consuming contaminated food. I would recommend looking for another DQ...
We go here every year for my husbands birthday, and at least twice a month through the summer.
Friendly, fast service!
Quick in and out. Always get the order right. And DQ is ice cream. Yum, yum.
Good service
Nice neighborhood DQ. Lots of kids hang out there during the summer. Offerings aren’t anything surprising. It’s always been a nice place where the local kids can get a summer job. We like that.
Quick friendly service. Delicious menu that is reasonably priced. Love stopping by this place in the summer and sitting outside to enjoy my treat!
Friendly and efficient service and a quality product every time. The king of all Dairy Queen’s.
Wonderful experience here. Was a slow night so no rush or anything. Super helpful staff
Great location. Always fast and friendly.
I love this walk-up store. Super friendly!
If youre looking for some great ice cream and wonderful service, stop by this Dairy Queen. This is the BEST Dairy Queen in town. Im always blown away by their efficiency and kindness.
I like the new walk up order window
Best Dairy Queen anywhere. Great service.
The traditional chocolate dipped cone was the perfect treat!
Soft Serve!
This is definitely the best DQ in the area. The staff are welcoming & helpful, providing efficient & friendly service despite being busy. They also had a great selection of Blizzard cakes :)
The window on the west side of the building is a bit dangerous. The service is good
Really disappointing and scary to see that none of the teenage employees working (four of them to be exact) were not wearing masks in such tight proximities. I ended up leaving and not ordering any ice cream that they prepared because I was honestly scared. Masks should be worn while food preparation during a worldwide pandemic, especially considering they were teenagers who are the primary spreaders of coronavirus. Not to mention this location is probably 900 square feet MAX!
This is a great Dairy Queen, family owned, nice place to go. It’s fun and employees are great, friendly.and very community oriented.Just a fun place. It’s small but I wouldn’t go any where else. I’ve been coming to this DQ since I was a kid.love it.....
Extremely terrible service! So disappointed, I used to come here as a child and I always remember it being pleasant. Well not today. Whatever manager or supervisor was on this evening was so sarcastic and rude when we informed him that we ordered a royal Oreo, not just a regular oreo blizzard. He refused to remake it or even apologize! He simply said this is what you ordered I heard it. here it is, have a good night. I have never been so offended. Even folks in line behind us made comments in reference to how short and rude he was.Im not one to make a big deal out of anything let alone ice cream but I paid money for a certain item, I expect that item. I used to work at the Dairy Queen in Crystal off Bass lake road and no matter how busy or packed it was, if we ever treated customers the way we were treated tonight we wouldve been out the door. Definitely will NOT be coming back.
Great Service!
We stopped by last night, the treats were delicious and the customer service was also fantastic! Thank you! We will be back!
A drive through window is installed but they also allow for people to come in to see the menu and order
The worst customer service I’ve experienced in a very long time. The manager was so rude and shared incorrect nutritional information to myself and another guest with eating restrictions. I would think someone’s health is more important than being right. It is okay to say you don’t know the nutritional facts. He then tried to argue with me after I pulled up the Dairy Queen website and showed him the nutritional facts. So disappointed with the manager of this location.
BEWARE OF EXTRA CHARGES - BRING CASHAs someone else commented, this DQ charges a $0.69 fee if you dont use cash. They try to call it a cash incentive, when really its a credit fee. You dont recieve a discount if you pay with cash - instead, you are charged an additional fee for paying with a card.I wouldnt have an issue with that if it was made obvious to the customer. The only notification is a fine-print statement on the door and at the register. Very easy to miss, especially when youre distracted by all the ad posters and hand-written signs. I only just noticed it on my last visit. The charge is not included in the total they give you at the register, which I feel is very misleading. It only shows up on your receipt/bank statement. I would like to know how long they have been charging customers this fee without their knowledge. Based on the fact that only one review mentions this, I would say most customers have no idea.
Efficient service
Terrific store! Very friendly and helpful staff who seem to genuinely care about making their customers happy. It always seems clean, tidy, and well-run.
This is the best Dairy Queen hands down. Im lucky to have it in my backyard. Their service is excellent, and the products are always made better than any other DQ I visit. Theyre simply the best Dairy Queen around!
Excellent
Did not realize this DQ did not have chicken strips so I got a grilled chicken sandwich and potato skins. The chicken was not grilled, it was an anemic hunk of meat. Gross. I got two tiny potato wedges for 2 dollars and took one bite, tastes and smells like dirty feet. Thank goodness the blizzard was yummy so I had something to eat. The service was fine the place was clean but the food was terrible.
This place hasnt changed in 10 years, and thats a good thing. Great service and good food and ice cream.
Manager was great even though we were at a Dairy Queen that did not offer two for four he worked with us anyway. Thank you for a great tree
Place was packed but they did a great job in getting everyones order fast and correct thumbs up to the owner who was there helping his crew out...👍👍👍
I just did a review on this but it is a good place to eat. I made 2 so its even more likely that you will see it.
