Lost clutch on work truck while traveling through Great Falls. Looked at google and called several different mechanics before calling Great Falls Auto. Every mechanic couldn’t get us in for 2-3 weeks. This was not an option because we were traveling. When I explained my situation to Brittney at Great Falls Auto she got the truck in immediately! I can’t begin to explain how appreciative I am to Great Falls Auto for getting the truck in so quickly. James and the other mechanics did a great job on the truck. I just moved to Great Falls, and reading reviews of a bunch of auto shops I chose this one. Called to make an appointment, and they were booked about a week and a half out (hearing that I knew I made the right choice). Brought my car in today at 8am to do all the typical 100k mile maintenance needed. They were all so sweet, one of the guys drove me home as it was going to be a few hours to do all the work it needed. Then called me after it was all done, to come pick it up and it drives wonderfully. The price was not as bad as I thought it was going to be, which is a great. I sure will be bringing my car back to them for any minor and major work it may need in the future, thank you!

Great Falls Auto Repair REALLY helped me out! I was on a road trip, a very long way from home and my alternator died. I called Great Falls Auto repair and explained my situation. They were able to squeeze me in the first thing in the morning so we could be on our way. All the folks were very friendly, helpful, and patient with me and my stress level.

Went in to get an oil change, change out my snow tires, and completely replace my front struts. Everyone at Great Falls Auto was very polite and courteous. They gave me a call at each step of the process and the entire job ended up getting done faster and being cheaper than I expected. They even aligned my tires so I didnt have to take it to another shop. Very satisfied and will visit again in the future.

I was on vacation on my way up to Glacier National Park when my brake lights went off, and I needed a lot of pressure on the brakes to get them working. Far from home, I was panicking that I would need to spend my vacation time waiting for my car to get fixed! All the other mechanics in town werent able to fit me into their schedule on such short notice. But Great Falls Auto Repair managed to do so even though they were already STACKED with clients that day. It only took them about 2.5 hours to diagnose the problem and set me on my way (and that was during lunch hour). They even called the dealership for me to see if I had a warranty for the needed part :)

While on vacation our vehicle had check engine light come on and was missing.. the guys working attempted to get extended warranty to cover the work but warranty company stated it wasnt covered. The mechanics replaced a fouled injector and had us back on the road in 1 day. We had inadvertently left the warranty paperwork at the shop and DJ found it on Monday he called us apologizing and checked as to how the car was running.This shop is very professional and if I am in need of work again and in Great Falls they will be my first choice

Was at RV Park & disconnected my Jeep & it wouldnt start. Had an advertisement on back of parks map & called. Said they could get me in if I could get it there. Called tow truck & got it there. It was the fuel pump. They got it done that day & sent someone to pick us up. They even honored the coupon that was on their ad that I had forgotten at camper. Very satisfied with their service...

I thought Id found a really great place and honestly had a ton of trust after my last 3 experiences here. I had even referred quite a few folks, in the past.However, I recently brought in my car, saying that I think its just my battery, but wanting them to check the steering column as well. I was charged $435 for a new battery and 4 wheel allignment on a 2005 Honda. This just doesnt sit well with me, especially adding the fact I was so patient...it took 10 days to even have it ready. Im including a photo of my bill. I was never quoted the additional $115.47 labor cost and find it very unreasonable. I was billed an additional labor cost for battery and the alignment itself is pure labor. As a woman, I often times feel very vulnerable when car issues arrive and I need help, this experience magnified that. I may be wrong, but the invoice is there for you to interrupt yourself.

In a moments notice Great Falls Auto was able to get my vehicle in an find the issue and fix it with no issue thanks.

Thoughts on my first experience:The staff was great and followed up with an email a few days later to check in on their fixes. Customer service was fantastic and pricing was very reasonable.It is no fun when you have car problems, but I will be giving these folks my business just as long as they keep going like they started.

First off Ill give this place the benefit of the doubt, I had a fairly unique issue on my older foreign car. However, this had to of been the worst experience Ive ever had with a mechanic. Extremely poor communication, I never heard from them and had to reach out to them constantly for updates. They had me purchase a part for my vehicle stating it would fix my car. Turns out the part they requested wasnt even on my make and model of car. Overall I would highly encourage you to take your business somewhere else. Unless youd rather have them waste your time and money.

These guys did a nice job and charged a fair rate. A couple hiccups came about during the job that were not their fault but they did not charge extra. I definitely would go to them again.

I had my clutch repaired at this shop while on vacation 2 years ago. The clutch prematurely failed probably due to manufacturing. GFAR warranted the clutch with another shop without any BS.

Made an appointment in advance for an opening they had available on my day off but the shop experienced some heavy traffic that day and they had to postpone the service for the day after. They fixed the issue and even installed new windshield wipers which was appreciated.

My experience w/ Great Falls Auto Repair was 50/50. I will start with the positive they were prompt, professional, and appear to have done good work (repairs were done only a day ago so time will tell). The negative I brought my truck in with a coolant leak, after checking for leaky hoses etc, website states free estimates it is not free they will charge roughly $100 for a diagnostic which no big deal just be up front about it. Anyways following the diagnostic I get an estimate for $1080 for replacing water pump, thermostat and coolant flush. Which seemed a little high based on the research Id done but at this point I was already in $100 and needed it fixed so I went ahead with it. Upon receipt of the invoice and picking my vehicle up everything looked legit (labor, parts etc, ) except for one part the water pump which was listed at roughly $375, a quick google search find multiple for less than half that. A little disappointing because like I said the rest of the experience with this shop was positive. I know cost with mechanics is always a tricky area but if you arent in a position to shell out extra cash just be aware they may over charge.

I went here to get a oil change. After I got my oil change my low oil pressure light would come on every time I stopped. IT DID NOT DO THIS BEFORE THE OIL CHANGE. I took it back and they said it was a sensor and they could not help any further. How could it be the sensor when it was not going off before they touched it? I then took it to Walmart for another oil change the next day. They fixed it within 20 minutes. Im not sure if Great Falls auto repair put the wrong filter or what. Thank you Walmart auto repair. I hope I can get my money back from them.

Now I understand why Great Falls Auto Repair has five stars. I am new to the area so I followed my daughter’s advice to contact James Gowers’ auto repair for an oil consumption problem for my college age grandchildren’s 7 year old Subaru. The Subaru dealership in Spokane had not resolved the issue. James spent hours diagnosing the problem and researching parts and options and solutions and explained everything in detail. He guided us to the most reasonable option and gave us an ongoing care plan even though the car was traveling 4 states away with grandkids as they returned to college. He will be coordinating car care with a mechanic close to them. I have never had a mechanic provide such comprehensive care. Exceptional service is the hallmark of this shop. James has a lifelong loyal client in me.

I had my vehicle worked on at another shop in GF and they had it for over 10 months. After being out of the shop for a week an 02 sensor went out & I had to bring it back. Then my engine light came on. At this time I decided to take it to another shop that I was told could work on Volkswagens. They found my problem immediately. The last automotive shop broke a hose & repaired it with electrical tape! The hose goes into my injection system that would have ruined my engine. Wednesday I dropped off my vehicle. The car has an onboard code reader built in and I also have one of my own. Prior to taking it in I checked the codes on both readers and they turned up the same codes (cylinder misfire 2). Okie dokie, not being terribly savvy with main components of the engine block and my only mechanical experience is thanks to YouTube (bless them). At any rate, left my car overnight, told them no rush take your time I know your busy. Received an email and text message the following day stating that my car needed a tune up as well as the front rotors and pads replaced. I can hear my brakes, I know what a squeaker pin sounds like so that wasn’t news to me. However their estimate on repairs was definitely a shock. To “tune up” my car and replace the rotors and pads (+labor) would be, get this, $2750!!!!! Holy buckets what did I get myself into? I’ve changed brakes before, and granted these are a little more expensive, but certainly not $900 they quoted me. So there’s that. Next we have the tune up. For those of you not familiar with a standard tune up this is basically referring to spark plugs, coils, things of that nature. Again, my vehicle is nicer than the ones I’ve worked on previously but jeez it seems like my car is laced with gold or something. Now, if this wasn’t shocking enough, when I went to pick up my car, the bill, simply looking at it was $276. Let me elaborate. Two hours of labor and plugging in a code reader into a vehicle with a code reader built in was going to cost me $276. Truthfully I was a little blown away. Upon further review of what these repairs would actually cost, I replaced my spark plugs for $130, which did need replaced, but my coils were actually fine. But they would have done it anyways! The rotors, passenger side has plenty of life left but I will admit the drivers side is a ready to go so I will replace both. However, not for $900. I found the appropriate rotors and pads but at a fraction of the cost.....$150 for both sides. At this point I feel like I’m just preaching about most people’s experiences at auto shops. Don’t know what’s going on, trust the mechanics to do them right, give them some extreme estimate of repairs, parts, and labor and then just blindly agree.Let me say some good things about great falls auto repair. Firstly, Annie was incredibly professional and nice. She is the manager of the shop. The gentleman who inspected my vehicle, also a kind honest man. Once I requested a specific diagnostic of what my $276 was for, the mechanic was very understanding of my concerns and ended up taking off one hour of labor. I’m not saying don’t come to this shop for help. They are knowledgeable, kind people just trying to put food on their tables like the rest of us. What I will say! Is that before you comply with your shops suggestions and clear out your savings again, please just take an hour and research the issues yourself. I guarantee you there is a much more reasonable route if you are willing to get your hands dirty.

The only place Ive found in great falls that can get you in within 24 hours. The service was outstanding, fair prices and Scott (the manager I think) was straight forward and quick to provide updates about all the repairs that were needed. They did some major repairs and worked hard to make sure i had my truck back before the weekend. This has been the best experience i have had with a shop in years maybe ever.

I have a 99 Chevy pickup that went in for an oil change. They discovered some serious problems and visually pointed them out to me. They let me decide weather or not to fix the problems (no pressure ). They also offered a ride to and from the shop. They also saved me from doing some unnecessary work and saved me some $$$. The staff was extremely friendly, I was coming to Great Falls from out of town and need an oil change, but didnt have an appt anywhere with anyone and so I called them told them my needs and they worked around my schedule and had a company coupon which was amazing and had my vehicle back in an hour and headed home and a few days later received a courtesy text about how the service I received. Got car in a quick . The detailed inspection report was great, with pics of what is an issue . They tell you how it is and they will get my business in the future . Also, took Subaru in for a tune up, injector cleaning, cam drive belt replacement, valve cover gaskets, and transmission filter & fluid change . We are very satisfied with the quality of service, and anything else we need done in the future . Will be done by these guys .

The absolute finest mechanics my husband and I have ever encountered. Couldnt have experienced better customer service anywhere ! We broke down on our way back to ND it was in the hot afternoon the mechanics took us right in they quickly figured out the problem. Had them check out my car and they let me know everything that was wrong with my auto, which is everything I did take care of my car. And left it up to me to fix it or not. I choose not because it was a better choice to get a new used car. It would have cost me almost the same price.
