Some coffee shops are more than just coffee shops β theyre homes away from home and the hearts and souls of communities. Its been incredible watching the new ownership take a long-time downtown business that had (like everything) suffered heavily during the height of the pandemic and remake it into a space thats as strong as ever, and Im excited to see what comes next. All that said: the coffee is excellent, the people are incredible, and the playlists are always good.
This coffee shop has the best vibe and great coffee! They host wonderful events, comedy every month, open mics, and so much more. There is a ton of seating and itβs a very welcoming, LGBTQ+ friendly place. I love it here and want everyone to know how wonderful it is! Not a place to get food options, but they have coffee, tea, beer, and wine options.
I have been coming here on and off for years and have never had a bad experience. The inside of the store is kept clean and itβs always a pretty chill atmosphere. The baristas are kind and they have great coffee. This is one of the local coffee shops I take my out-of-town friends/family to when they visit.
Consistently great coffee and lattes that wont disappoint are tough to get these days but the Green Bean nails it every time! Just smooth and roasted to perfection beans- no burnt bitter after taste here! Try the lavender iced latte its lovely, refreshing and not so sweet your teeth fall out. Keep up the great work yall!
Coffee is ok here. Itβs better than most but not amazing. Good location in Downtown. Some staff are nice and one was a bit condescending when I asked if they carried almond milk. I honestly missed it on the board that they didnβt carry it. No biggie. Interior design gives a good vibe.
Customer service was great. The placeβs ambiance is also good. The coffee and pasty was alright. Would come again though because they have interesting flavors for their coffee, maybe the flavor I got just didnβt mix well with the coffee. They also offer different milks that most cafes dont (oat, macadamia).
I went here twice while visiting some friends. Absolutely delicious baked good and coffee. Staff is absolutely amazing! Will definitely come here everytime I come into town.
Great place to work and grab a bite to eat and drink. Dope vibes.
For some reason they dont do refills on iced coffee or cold brews...Otherwise, roomy environment. Comfortable space. Plenty of tables to get work done, couches to lounge on, and even have a closed off outdoor patio.Just wish they did refills. I dont want to spent another $5 on a 20oz cold brew that amounts to a ~ 12oz after all the ice. And the ice is key... so refills are a must have. Also, cold brews are a little weak(Ie. either not soaked long enough or their ratio is too high on water), but thats a common problem among most small coffee shops.
Very pleasant coffeehouse. Very relaxing place for a midmorning break. Good place to take a pause and enjoy the day.
Well I thought I was going to stop in for coffee only to find out they dont have a blender now? They must have made changes to the menu and I cant say for certain if it was due to COVID but if thats the case how come Starbucks is still making all of their drinks during COVID?Im really disappointed that I took time out of my day to turn around find a parking spot and walk across the street to this place and waste time inside only to find out they cant make what I came in for which was a Frappuccino that I have always frequented at this establishment. So Im not really sure what the future holds for this place but Im not impressed anymore and will probably never come back after coming here for years. I hope that they made the right decision to alter their menus.I cannot recommend them at all anymore they have went way downhill. We cant keep blaming everything on COVID. While I appreciate the extra precautions your business is taking for the pandemic Iβm not sure you had to change everything. Maybe that has something to do with new owners or management I have no idea. I do know this. Business have to adapt and choose decisions wisely in order to maintain customer satisfaction and keep repeat clients. I just feel like The Green Bean or Joe Van Gough coffee whatever you call yourselves should consider taking another look at your product offerings. Youve missed the mark.
The Green Bean on Elm Street is an awesome coffee shop. Actually, it is much more than a coffee place. It is a place for great conversation and fellowship. The facility is very inviting. The best aspect of The Green Bean is the outstanding customer service you receive from the employees. Everything is super clean. The coffee is amazing and everything else sold there is simply unmatched.
Back in high school, I used to visit The Green Bean every morning before school started with my best friend. Now, Im a stressed, over-worked, underpaid adult that goes here as much as I possibly can before work because I cant fathom not having coffee in the mornings. :)
Delicious Chai! It is original and delicious. Thanks for serving Chai that is not from a mix or a bottle. Yum. See you again soon.
Great coffee! Cute spot! Incredible chai tea latte. Will definitely be back when weβre in the area.
Stop here on a road trip from Philly, PA. Iβm not a coffee drinker, like at all lol (my wife is though!) but I told the cashier that I wanted something caramel ice coffee like and she did not disappoint! The cinnamon buns were also super delicious. I was able to get my wife and I two coffees and a bun for 15 bucks. We were able to take advantage of the free WiFi and catch up on some much needed work which is the original reason why we stopped here.
Love the new dΓ©cor! The Baristas know how to make fabulous suggestions and create delicious coffee combinations. Great place to sit with your laptop or friends.
The new owners got rid of the only person who knew what they were doing. Good luck keeping customers now
I had a sf oat milk latte. It was great.
A lovely open space, plenty of places to sit and enjoy a delicious beverage or open mic night. Lots of plant based milk alternatives, huge baked goods.
Super friendly. Great place to set up and get some work done. Open with lots of natural light
Excellent coffee! Love the environment and the staff was super friendly!!!
Steamed the milk in my wifeβs coffee perfectly. She used to hardcore barista so we were both really impressed. Great job!
Delicious latte made in a quaint shop by a wonderful barista! And it is the only place we could find open on Sunday!
Great atmosphere and quality drinks. I recommend the turmeric latte!
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff!!! Helped me pick out exactly what I was looking for!!!
Great coffee, relaxed atmosphere, very dog friendly. The staff was super nice and friendly and their caramel sauce is bomb.
This spot provide great coffee. Everyone is so nice and helpful when placing order. My favorite spot every Saturday morning to relax.
One of the best place to chill in Greensboro.
They have a great coffee selection. Their cold brew is tasty and not too acidic. Actually, Id say that they have one of the best cold brews in town. The atmosphere is ideal for studying or relaxing. There is a lot of natural light and the art displayed is always interesting. Some of the employees are kind.
Nice place to chill and have coffee and enjoy free wifi
This place is great...cant wait until they open up for in-person dining/coffee. Looks like the new owners are really going to make this place something even more special than it was before! Congrats on the new purchase! Great coffee, great baked goods, and great people...
Great baked goods and coffee! Store is super cool with a large mural and great vibes. Canβt wait to come again!Very respectful and conscious of masks, social distance
Nice place, decent coffee!
A Greensboro staple. This place holds a lot of wonderful memories for me from when I lived there. The coffee was pretty great - recommend the iced dirty chai and the patio out back is lovely. Not sure if Katie still owns the place but it was super cool then and she had a lot of excellent live music showcases at night. If youβre visiting and near downtown, definitely stop in.
Terrific coffee, very nice folks! Went during covid and they were very on top of precautions, felt safe and would return again!
Great coffee and great service. Michelle is a gem and always strives to make the best coffee for me. I know her personally and her will to craft new combinations and special treats for me is always appreciated. The pastries are just as good as well!
An excellent place to just chill with downtown ambience and a hot mocha. Lovely staff.
I always enjoy the Green Bean. Friendly staff.
Best coffee in town!
Favorite coffee shop in town. Ryan always makes my drinks perfect!
Excellent spot for coffee and relaxing!
It was pretty tough to find someplace downtown Greensboro open on a Sunday but we found it. We really wanted coffee and some sort of breakfast sandwich. We were really disappointed that they were out of sandwiches at 8am. They were kind a friendly and made good coffee recommendations as they helped us through their menu. The wait for the coffee though was quite long and there was not too many customers in there at that time. Coffee was pretty good. Street parking was easy.
Great coffee and friendly service !
I liked the way it was some years ago before they remodeled it. Once they remodeled it they took away a certain roughness about it that I found enduring. Now its a little too polished. More like a chain now.
The Green Bean is my favorite coffee shops. A great place to have a quiet cup of coffee, catch up on emails, or chat with friends and colleagues.
Wow! Such good customer service served with a cup of joe. Love the atmosphere this place provides. Would give more stars if I could
Love this place! Great coffee and espresso.
Amazing coffee and friendly service!
Consistently the worst tasting coffee in town. Even Hardees has better tasting iced coffee... Id suggest driving a block down to Cheesecakes By Alex, they have much better coffee and a lot more snack options.
Cool atmosphere. Love having casual business meetings here. Great location, in the heart of downtown with plenty of parking on the street/across the street in a parking lot. The best thing though, they have vegan options for breakfast!!!! They even have macadamia nut milk for your coffee. Love the apple cinnamon muffin w huge chunks of apple and made with applesauce and macadamia nut milk. Yummy
It was okay. Very hipster ambiance. Iβm 32 and fairly conservative and when I walked in it was almost as if the staff were annoyed to serve me. They were still cordial and I got what I asked for in a timely matter, but something was just really off about the vibe. For the price I feel like the options couldβve been better too.
I had a cup of coffee, and my daughter had a kids hot chocolate. The baristas were super nice an my daughter was on first name basis with them before we left.A hidden gem in Greensboro! Our food was prepared quickly and amazingly. The local grits are delicious and fluffy, eggs cooked perfectly and delicious.
The atmosphere is the best! the coffee is great. The staff are always smiling and friendly. Cool place to hangout and chill.
Best cup of coffee in town
Just passing through town, but I liked it here. Its a good spot, has fast WiFi, and the coffee is really good. Id definitely go back
Best chai latte in town. Great place to study. Their Chai Latte is my favorite, way better than Starbucks. They also have delicious baked good wrapped at the counter. Good place to bring friends as there is a large table in the back that seats more than your average coffee shop, and you can bring your own cards/games.
Super cool cafe with tons of work and hang out space. Theyve got great coffee and soy, almond, or oat milk. Oat milk is $1 upcharge unfortunately, which is higher than Ive ever seen. The other plant milks are 60 cents which is more reasonable. They make some great espresso drinks and I love coming here to hang or do some work! I also appreciate that they have to stay cups to cut down on throwaway coffee cup waste.
Great local coffee shop with amazing lattes and coffee. They also have fresh baked goods with vegan and gluten-free options. The crowd here is eclectic and you are likely to see older couples stopping by after dinner, college kids and the young crowd. Great beers as well. Good music on the weekends. Friendly staff.
It was the first time to get coffee there, I like it and I like cake Yami,
Good coffee but they have a lot of competition around them. They do sell some unique and cool coffees by the pound. Lots of seating and free WiFi if you need to get some work done.
Coffee is good. Coffee here is good. Try the Cold Brew milk with a little vanilla. The location is great for experiencing the quaint little Greensboro downtown.
Excellent coffee shop! I love going around to all the different coffee shops wherever I travel and Green Bean is at the top of my list. Great customer experience, personal touch, and laid-back non-commercial atmosphere (which I like!)
Best coffee in Greensboro. But if you want an inexpensive cup of coffee youre in the wrong place. Its as expensive if not more expensive than the large retailers, but totally worth it once in a blue moon for anyone trying to save for rainy day for great cup of coffee
The Green Bean is the best Coffee place in Greensboro. Always great quality. I have tried every coffee place over the years and also go right back to the Green Bean. The staff is friendly. Im a regular there and love it. It is always consistent coffee. The atmosphere is real cool.
Great prices, friendly staff, delicious coffee. Comfy. There is plenty of a/c outlets for chargers, so you can enjoy your coffee while being on your laptop. Perfect place for study groups or small business meeting.
There is a Green Bean in Yerevan, Armenia where I used to go when I was teaching overseas. I love the Green Bean here in Greensboro because it brings back sweet memories. The staff are so friendly and kind. I always order the iced Chai Bomb!!
Great coffee. Nice people/service. Good prices. Eclectic atmosphere. Fave coffee in town.
Nothing spectacular. Getting tea is a convoluted process. First, I was directed to the table away from the cash register. I picked up a tea bag and the cashier took it, looked at it and gave it back to me. I turned around to put the bag back only to be told to hold on to it. And I was told my water will be at the end of counter.I never felt so inadequate ordering tea and I grew up in Asia drinking tea.The tea bags should be on the counter and the staff should make the tea for guest. That is simply the right way to serve tea. You dont go to a pizza restaurant and asked to make your own dough.
(Four Stars for Golden Gate: Three Stars for Elm Street) One of the best places to get coffee in Greensboro. Also a good meeting place for very small groups(2-4) or dates. They have a large selection of coffee. Their tea selection is not great and they only give the water to you at one temperature. They could really use the guidance of Vida Pour Tea on serving the ever-growing tea community. The food at the Golden Gate location is very good; the oatmeal is slow-made and tasty, the breakfast burritos are packed with flavor. The food at the downtown location has never wowed me, but it is decent for an emergency snack.
My only experience is with their drop coffee. They seem to always have at least one single origin and a blend. Ive been impressed with the coffee. They also sell beans by weight and have plenty of seating.
Absolutely delectable soft serve and hard ice cream with a smorgasbord of exotic flavors. The owner is a gem; both sweet and helpful! A must visit for cold treats.
Met at Green Bean for a canvassing event in Greensboro. Very nicely laid out. Service is very friendly and the Green Tea ice tea was satisfying. Space is open, inviting and how could you not like a place called Green Bean.
The Chai Bomb is, well, the bomb. The coffee is good, the shop has nice atmosphere, and okay service. The assistants had a bit of an attitude, but I dont go there for the people, I go there for the coffee. Also, I love the live music gigs the Green Bean often host. 7.5 out of ten for sit-in, 9 out of 10 for to-go. Quite frankly, I prefer Loaf Bakery, only a few feet away from the Bean down an alleyway that is the best place to sit and hang out with a friend if the weather allows it.
Great place to get a cup and hang out downtown. Staff are very friendly and I especially like their assortment of milks and creams. Oatmilk, macadamia nut milk, coconut etc.
An amazing place to study and do my homework, love the environment and so glad that now I donβt have to go all the way to Battleground to get the same pleasant experience. The staff were all nice and friendly and were really welcoming when I walked in, canβt recommend this place enough!
Excellent place to go to get very good coffee! They have coffee down to a science and they take their work and business seriously. However, it is a great place to go to kick back with your coffee and your laptop and or headphones. And to socialize with others. There is plenty of tables and chairs and natural light. They also offer basic food items such as muffins, cold burritos, slices of cake, brownies, bananas, fruit, bagels etc. Staff is very friendly. Also, it is located in the heart of downtown Greensboro. Easy parking, ATM inside
Only been once, but my coffee was delightful, food was fresh and tasty, and the guys working there were super friendly! Great place to study too. Id definitely come back!
This was a shabby coffee shop in need of a lot of work. The floors were littered with crumbs and looked very dirty. The tables, also, had lots of crumbs on them and were not clean. When we entered, we were greeted by a relatively friendly barista, which is why I added an extra star. I decided on a caramel iced coffee. When I received it, it was black and had no caramel flavor at all! Just pure, bitter iced coffee! I was a bit confused when I asked for cream and they directed me to a carafe on the counter...was not too thrilled the cream was just left out on the counter. I have never had to pour my own cream, as most other coffee shops offer it before you get your drink. When I pay $4.00 for a small cup of iced coffee, I expect it to wow me! Unfortunately it doesnt warrant a second a visit!
Im here about 3 nights a week. Nice atmosphere. I can read or draw in peace. Mocha is terrific, not too sweet. Going to try Chai latte next. Yummy brownies if u need food.
Great relaxed atmosphere, excellent coffee and food like muffins and cakes. They have punch cards which is nice frequent visitors. Have bands here occasionally and have always enjoyed them. Good place to meet someone or do work by yourself, plenty of space and seating options like chairs, tables, barstools and couches.
The space is great- plenty of room to sit and itβs easy to find a seat with an outlet near it. I got a cortado and it was not very good. The milk was textured with more foam rather than micro bubbles and the espresso did not taste balanced or even good.
I havent been there in a while. But I had an issue when I charged too much tip at another coffee place with Green in the name. The Green Bean staff worked super hard to track down the issue, and they were very nice when I figured out I had called the wrong place. Theyre definitely getting my future business because of this awesome customer service.
Its THE local place to good coffee in downtown. Friendly staff who make it a point to get to know their regulars. Eclectic atmosphere with local art. Plenty of tables and good WiFi of you want to push it there to work out study. And on some evenings they host local events like music performances, quiz nights, etc.
Delicious go to location for area meet-ups. I also enjoy meeting ASU Alumni on their meeting dates. This place is worth a kind thumbs up, dont you think?
