I have been doing business with Horizon Records for over 10 years, and quite frankly you would be hard pressed to find a better record store anywhere. The staff is extremely helpful and the selection of music across all genres and formats is amazing. I collect mostly jazz and the offering that Horizon provides at any given time is superb. You need to do yourself a favor and check this place out!

I just witnessed an unfortunate exchange where an elderly 78 yr old man who was hard of hearing asked the employee if he could help him look through a box of records that were on the floor by picking up the box for him to put on a table so the elderly man could flip through them. The elderly man was hard of hearing so he talked a little loud and direct which wouldn’t have been a problem had the employee had the patience and willingness to help someone who obviously needed it. Instead, the employee got frustrated and kicked the elderly man and his wife out of the store for being difficult…even after the wife tried to explain that her husband was hard of hearing and just wanted to look through the records he couldn’t reach on the floor. This was definitely not the home town record store attitude I expect from a place I want to spend my time and money…so I put back the records I was going to purchase and left.

Love love love this place I have just about everything you need for your music enjoyment. Really loved getting back into vinyl.

Superb vinyl and cd emporium. Great, knowledgable, and friendly staff. Top-flight classical used and new vinyl. Always check the floor bins in the classical and classic jazz room! Wonderful stock of rare spoken word and esoteric dramatic works there as well (Ibsen, Chekov, Eliot, Cocteau, etc.).On vinyl and in separate bins. Amazing and Not to be missed! Large array of uncommon cds in all genres along with great bins of new arrivals. What more could any audiophile desire?? Go there now!!

Always a great experience at Horizon. Over the years they’ve help me with special orders, discovering new music and picking out gifts that are from genres I may not be familiar with. 10/10 across the board

This place is mandating masks even if you have been fully vaccinated. I dont recommend them at all. Go elsewhere!!

I brought some rare Prince records in, albums like Come, Gold Experience, and The Black Album and the person working the front didnt even look at the records and only offered me $5 for records that if he did a simple discogs search would show should at the minimum sell for $150. Then decided to argue with me about how he knows more about these records then I do, who bought them when they originally came out. Never coming here again to buy or sell records ever again.

It was a very cozy place. There were lots of alphabetically organized sections and a great selection of new and used records. The prices were a little high compared to other stores/amazon but you will get your moneys worth. Ill be going back to horizon records soon!

This was a pretty cool little record store. It had a great selection and was very well organized. I didnt have a lot of trouble finding what I was looking for either. However, the customer service was a bit lacking. I had never been there before and Im honestly not very familiar with release dates and such. When I asked about something I thought was out, the person who I asked was fairly rude and seemed kind of offended that I didnt know. Oh well, perhaps he was just having a bad day. Anyway, Ill probably come back again at some point.

The records, cds, cassetes, and more vary in the store. you can find from the rolling stones to tyler the creator. also just the atmosphere entering with a restraunt right next to you is amazing. one of the best records stores ive been too.ps. if your wondering about quality ive bought around 30-40 records from here not one came damaged.

Went to browse records and after looking around for awhile was confronted by a extremely rude and abrasive worker. Despite their large collection of records, I will not be returning to this store due to the poor customer service that I experienced.

Leaders in spreading the gospel of music greats and unknown artists in this community for years. Gene has brought more great musicians for in store performances than most venues could dream of. Horizon is a treasure.

Not going to judge the store by the guy who was working behind the counter. Regrettably spent money there before i asked a simple question, the guy acted like he hadnt had his coffee that day. Wont be back, my money going to other stores.

Found just about all the vinyl on my daughters Christmas list at basically the same price as Amazon. I would much rather support Gene and those guys. Well worth the drive from Greenwood

A wonderful store with a huge variety of records and artists. I came here for the first time today and found much of what I wanted. They even have a separate room for Classical music. I got a few records from there. The employees are VERY helpful and were willing to order a record online for me that was not in store. I will most definitely be returning here. I loved it. Hey there, Im Simon. I had a friend over today and my experience at this store was amazing! They have almost every artist ever in CDs or records. Another thing I absolutely loved was how in the back, there was a massive selection of SUPER cheap records, going as low as $1.00.All in all, I had such a wonderful experience I went twice today. Purchased over 12 records. Love the store!

Best record shop in Greenville, no comparison. Genes been slinging records here since (a few years) before I was alive. Theyve got everything you want & things you dont yet know you need. And if they dont have have it, theyll find a way to get it for you.

They have anything that you want in music..

Ive found a few treasures here and there over the years. But they mostly specialize in whatever the personal taste of the owner or owners turns out to be. In this case, old and new music that would fall in the hippie category. Grateful Dead, John Prine, and whatever new artists fall into that category as well. They seriously had about 20 copies of whatever the latest Grateful Dead repackage was on Record Store Day, with minimal copies of other releases, and some releases just not ordered at all. (Last time I was in there, the Grateful Dead copies were still there) Take this review with a grain of salt, if you like the same category of music they specialize in carrying and promoting, this is the store for you. I mean no ill will, just personally most of what they carry is not my style. It is still worth going to thumb through the used section and the bargain section. Sometimes you will find a rare item if it falls into a category they arent well versed in.

By far my favorite record store. They have a great selection of vinyl, CDs and more, extremely friendly and helpful staff, and even have many free live events and concerts. I wholeheartedly recommend Horizon Records!

A great record store. They have a really good selection from old to New, and from pretty much every genre. They have Vinyl records, CDs, and I believe they have tapes but dont quote me on that one. If you like physical music, you should take a look!

Awesome selection with great diversity. The cashier could have been a bit friendlier, but that’s not going to keep me from coming back. They had a Sufjan Stevens record that I’ve had the toughest of luck finding - totally regret not getting it. I work at a record store back home, and this one is now one of my favorites!

Clean, organized, and had an awesome selection with affordable prices. Hand sanitizer was at the front of the store, and masks were required. The owner was very helpful. Left the store with several vinyls that were pre-owned and in great shape. Highly recommend to anyone in the Greenville area.

I love this place. The vibe is so nice, and its relaxing to just look through the records. Employees are always helpful if asked, but are also super friendly and happy to let you browse.

Ive been to Horizon Records a few times now and theyre an overall great spot for vinyl with one of the largest local selections of new albums that Ive found. I purchased both new and used from them with almost no issues. I did have one scratched/skippy record this last time, but I only paid five bucks for it, which wasnt worth the trip to return it. UPDATE: the store graciously agreed to a $5 credit for the bad album, which Im more than happy to take them up on since Im sure well be back. Great folks who stand behind their used inventory and go the extra mile to keep their customers happy. Recommended.

Walked in the store, cashier didnt even look at me let alone speak. I was in the store browsing for over half an hour, still no offer of help or a how are you doing... After I picked up 2 records I proceeded to check out and stood at register 2 minutes, same guy was still standing in exact spot, I wouldve thought he was a mannequin if he wasnt breathing and typing, so I walked around a few more minutes then approached where he was standing and ask if I could check out, he stopped what he was doing and ask me if I was ready and I said yes and just trying to make small talk I ask him about an album I couldnt find and all he replied was no...I didnt expect the Disney world experience but I paid top dollar for the records when I couldve saved money on Amazon. I wont be going back.

This was a well organised, large shop. We found some great deals in the used r+b section and I imagine if you liked more rock and blues tunes this would be a great spot for you. I was a little disappointed in the electronic section but overall this is a great shop. Would definitely come back for another dig.

Always love visiting Horizon for all my music needs. They have a fantastic selection but if you cant find what you are looking for they will order it for you. The atmosphere is great and if you get hungry after browsing records The Bohemian Cafe serves a fantastic pimento cheese sandwich :). Chuck is the best out of everyone that works there, ask for him!

Not a bad selection, but hardly any punk or ska. Prices are on par with anywhere else. They do have some cool specials on 7 inch vinyl though.

If you dont know what your classic rock albums are selling for dont go there they will pick out all the near mint and VG+ out and offer you 1 to 2 dollars each on 20+ dollar albums . I know you have overhead but come on 80% profit? Ill just wait the 7 days let them run on eBay

Don’t plan on eating next door and then shopping at the record store afterwards. They’ll ask you to move your vehicle when you walk in the door. Get more parking spots if your that desperate. You lost your own customer. I used to shop there all the time but I’ll make sure not to go to this record store again. But the food next door at The Bohemian is great!

Thumbing through the massive selection of LPs is the most relaxing and exciting things anyone who loves music can do in my opinion. From brand spanking new releases to gently loved, Horizon Records has it all. They also have books, movies, cassettes, CDs and turntables and speakers. Sometimes you can even hear a band play live in the record store, or in the attached restaurant. We were fortunate enough to get to listen to a local band, Ex-cons, play songs from their brand new album the night we stopped in! Support our local music store.

Horizon Records is an institution - theres a reason its been around for 40 years and still thriving. The staff is always willing to help find obscure stuff, even out of print stuff. I really dig the classical room and definitely be sure to peruse the wall art.

Amazing Greenville landmark, friendly knowledgeable and welcoming staff loves you to browse. With numerous pictures of local bands praise this fantastic store is ajoining to a wonderful restaurant. A LP mecca with used DVD, CD, some old and new turntables, posters and books. It strength though is RECORDS - 45s, 10 inch, new, old, jazz, blues, classical, country, rock, comedy etc. etc. Just try to go there and not spend any money... I dare you! Love love love it.

Ive been buying records from Horizon since they were located in Morgan Manor (nearly 40 years ago). I travel a fair amount and visit record stores everywhere I go. Horizon remains the place where I return again and again. I always find something i want at a good price and I have developed a lot of friendships there over the years.Theres a reason they have survived so long when others havent.

Been buying records from these guys for 14 years. Always will support. We are lucky to have Gene and his team here in GVL.

Horizon has been my go-to source for music for many years. It was once a gem among soulless record store chains and it has survived while they have faded away. (Sometimes the good guys do win.)The store is great. You never know what oddity you may dig up in the discount bins plus they have the current popular stuff as well. The look and the feel of the place is great and they live up to it with their live shows, both in-store and at the café next door. Gene and the crew have always been helpful. In fact, they were my Pandora, before Pandora came to be.In short, a day with a trip to Horizon is a good day.

Ive gone to this record shop for years and bought countless titles from my CD and vinyl collection here. Everytime I come in here Im never greeted, the revolving lineup of crotchety old hipsters muster up unfriendly grimaces, and Im never given any kind of friendly farewell. I stopped for awhile because Earshot was a better alternative. They had much better prices and friendlier staff. Horizon is the only place I know that makes me happy mom and pop shops are dying.

We bought 2 records from here for Christmas gifts. Even after the employee told us that if we bought a new record it would probably not work. Pretty bad business idea there - in my opinion.We ended up buying a newer one anyways and an older record and when we went to go play them they both skipped like crazy. The other two LPs that were bought off of Amazon (one super old and one very very new) both played wonderfully on the turntable. We will not be back to Horizon again, except to return and get a refund.

It’s hard to see favorite landmark places in the city closing down over the years. Horizon Records has been at landmark in Greenville for as long as I can remember, and I have always loved shopping here. I hope they never close! Great nostalgic place to just come and leaf through 100’s of classic LP’s and CD’s.
