Great selection and friendly staff. I read some of the negative reviews, but I think those might have been misunderstandings about lumber industry pricing.

Dont waste your time with this company. Despite their Google listing and website stating they are open Saturday mornings, the gates were closed when I visited and phone system does not have a general sales number, only directory which none answer. This is after first going to a residential address because they havent managed their online presence at all. As excited as I was to check out their selection and work with a local business, Ill just buy online.

Be sure to also read their reviews on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website and perhaps try to avoid conducting business with the owner when he is suffering a sinus infection. Sadly it appears the founder of the company is no longer running things.Fantastic selection of species and sizes. Reclaimed pieces, too. Outstanding service with regards to wood selection and custom trim. They make their own knives in house and appear to have the ability to match older moulding and trim styles.The flooring is a completely different story. Based on our experience we cannot recommend purchasing flooring from these good folks, and we will no longer do business with them. We were advised that the flooring is not true tongue and groove flooring. It was also our experience that the installers method for installing floors did not meet the standards established by the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA). The finishers also appeared to lack the requisite skills to finish hard wood floors.Our family used this business for decades building custom homes and sporting goods stores and the decline has been disappointing to observe.

They charge an 18% shrinkage fee on top of the board foot price they advertise. Then a 2% service charge for a card. So any price they give you, add 20%. We called ahead and asked for pricing and wood availability, these fees were never mentioned. This customer wont return.

I will not purchasing from Tidewater in the future. There lumber prices seem fair up front but are slightly misleading and do not reflect all of the fees that will be tacked on at the point of sale. Expect 18% board footage to be added onto your final hardwood lumber purchase. Therefore making the final board footage price higher than actually advertised. In addition to this, we inquired about there price match guarantee...yeah its not a guarantee.

When renovating a vintage home in the Asheville area, I needed to restore a considerable amount of original drop leaf siding which had been previously damaged by water intrusion and then covered with vinyl. The original was wider than any stock siding available today and the new siding had to match the existing profile perfectly so it could be woven in with any surviving original. Tidewater custom milled a perfect match in less time and for a lower price than initially estimated. My only concern is that the wood looks almost too nice to paint...

Ive been working with Louis for a few months on his website and hes been nothing but professional and a pleasure to work with. Ive had the lumber yard tour and saw the giant drying kin with all the high grade woods etc. If I need some hardwood flooring or lumber, Tidewater Lumber will be my first choice. These people are top notch and passionate about what theyre doing.

VERY disappointed. Ordered a load of Cypress wood but when I went to pick it up, I was met by two of the rudest people Ive ever encountered in my life! One, Im told was the owners son and the other was an office salesman. Also, the wood was VERY poor quality. The owner offered a discount price but then changed his mind. He became irritated when I questioned him about it! Im not sure what the problem is with this company but they must not like dealing with deplorables!!!!

Friendly staff. Numerous species of lumber in various lengths, widths and thicknesses. Get 4/4 to beam and mantel sizes. Also has domestic plywood plus baltic birch. Have what you probably need whether its a small or large job. Go check them out!

Nice lumber, nice price but if you are an individual woodworker not looking for a commercial quantity. They are reluctant to do business. Unfortunate since they are the only option in the upstate besides big box stores.
