I accidentally hit a curb nearby and busted my tire. This shop took care of me quickly (and it was on a weekend). They made the process painless and had my car back up and running within hours. I appreciated their quick and honest service in my time of need.

I was driving through Hackettstown, NJ enroute to Pennsylvania when I came out to find a totally flat tire. Mavis Discount Tire was recommended to me. I was pleased with the friendliness of the staff. They made every effort to repair the tire and get me on the road as soon as possible.

I dont usually go to Mavis but when I do I go to the one in Hackettstown. Its got great people working there and the assistant manager Tommy is an excellent help. Hes always trying to figure out a way to help get me the best prices and he genuinely knows what hes doing. Theyre excellent and from now on Ill be going to Tommy at the Mavis in Hackettstown.

Absolutely horrible. I had an appointment for 12pm today to change one tire. They told me it would take about an hour and a half so when 2:00 came and went I was a little frustrated but figured they would call me to let me know it was taking longer than expected.At 3:00 I called them and they told me they hadn’t even started. But no worries, my car was next in line. Alright I guess they were backed up.I called again at 4:30. My car is still next in line apparently. It is now 4:50 and my car was supposed to be finished at 1:30.How does it take five hours to change one single tire? I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but really? Like not even a courtesy call to tell me it was taking longer than expected.I was supposed to run errands and then be at my parent’s house at 4:00 for my nieces birthday. Now who knows when I’ll get there.I’m considering just picking up my car and asking for my money back and trying to find somewhere that will actually change the tire.Edit: So I went at 5:00 and apparently my car was done but nobody bothered to call me. The one star review still stands.

Great service from a helpful team, went the extra mile when they did not have to.

Really disappointed. Left my car there for an oil change early this morning, left the keys and everything, called over three hours later and they hadn’t even gotten to it yet. On top of that I left my fathers car there for them to do the brakes and the they were worse than when I dropped the car off. If you need an oil change, go to Quick Lube right down the street, about the same price and you’re in and out in 10 minutes.

Made my appointment online. Was greeted and my car was taken in to be worked on. My tire was fixed and I was on my way in less than an hour.

Extremely rude staff. My contractor took the time to inflate the right passenger tire. Mavis discount tire service refused to assist me in getting my tire fixed. Why. I had no appointment. My question is this --- what do you do if you need emergency service-- wait until they have the time -- especially if you live alone and need a vehicle and yours sit with a flat. Never again will I go there for tires or any service.

I had a 930 appt, they told me about 1-1.5hrs. I expressed that I had a Dr appt 2 hours from this appt, they said that they would try to get my car serviced so I can make it to my appt in time. A person comes in 30 min after me, she was told that myself and another person was ahead of her, which she was fine with. Well within a few minutes of her being there, her car is in the garage before mine, at this point I been sitting there for 45 min and my car was still in the parking lot so I just asked for my keys. They didnt seem to care at all, not even an apology. I guess they dont care about new customers at all. Terrible experience.

I have to agree with the appointment issues. Second time and they over booked somehow.... last time the car was in the shop all day, and I mean from morning until almost 7pm for a tire change. I think the booking center does not communicate with the shop at all. I cancelled, period. Will never go back to any mavis again. This is just my experience, maybe better for others so take this for what it worth.

I had my tires and alignment done here and the employees were extremely friendly and helpful. It means a lot when you walk back in to pick up your car hours later and they remember your name, especially when you’re wearing a mask! Shortly after I left, my tire pressure light came on. I called them and again they were quick to address my concern and had me come right over- reset my computer and I was all set. Probably the most friendly and comfortable service experience I’ve had since becoming a car owner. Plus- the price, well it was $200 less than the other place I was considering, so that is also amazing!

So I have to say that I am not normally a fan of car places like this. I normally go in for an oil change and leave spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars.That being said, Vince and his team were absolutely wonderful! Had an appointment for 10am. Dropped the car off at 9 and they said it would be ready by 5, a little late considering I had an appointment but fine. Then at 430, I had to call them - said to come at 6! When I came to pick up at 6, had to wait an additional 40 minutes, even though the car was ready. 10 hours to replace tires when I had an appointment is not acceptable. Additionally, when I tried to check on the status the manager would not pick up my line. Spend a few dollars extra and go to respectable shop, this place is a mess.

The customer service was fantastic. The Team worked diligently to repair the tire despite the work load. The pricing was incredibly competitive!

Every one in the Hackettstown branch did a great job!

If you call a specific Mavis center you are speaking with someone at a call center that is appointment hungry, but they DO NOT work together with the actual store. In person service is different than their call center. Making an appointment through the phone number DOES NOT hold any weight whatsoever in person when you show up at the shop. That means you can’t actually make an appointment! I showed up on time for my 8am appointment and they used all the verbiage possible to either have me leave the car and not wait for my appointment. A typical unorganized failure of a service center.

Nowadays theres a mechanic shop on every street corner and its sometimes hard to find a shop you really feel comfortable with, trust and get great respect as a customer. I gotta say, Mavis in Hackettstown is truly a special place as I was very surprised and will be going to for now on. Tom and Brandon run a very smooth shop and go that extra mile to really explain things and gain my understanding and trust. The shop does fantastic work and I feel confident on a job well done. I was especially impressed with Tom!

We was on our way to H2O when the group behind us hit something and got a flat the tow came quick and took us to Mavis and even though they were packed in less than 30 minutes we was out and back on the road thats service

Made an appointment for new tires on Monday, 5/17 for Thursday morning, 5/20. I had even negotiated a price for the tires. Wife showed up and the folks at Mavis knew nothing about the appointment, and didnt have the tires for her car. Called to inquire about the issue and was put on hold for more than 4 minutes. Shoddy service. I do NOT recommend.

Had a great experience with the staff. They took their jobs very seriously. On the other hand the manager Tony is very unprofessional, he makes promises and does not follow through. Give him a chance though he is new and just needs a bit more training.

Went to this location to have rear brakes replaced. I was told the rotors would also need to be changed and that my front struts were leaking and it was causing uneven tire wear. I figured since the car would be on the lift to have the brakes changed they can also replace the leaking struts.The front struts and brakes were changed and after 2 days i noticed noise from the front passenger side. Brought the car back and was informed the sway bar end link was damaged (a component which was disassembled and reattached to the new struts during the first visit). I asked why they did not inform me of this during the initial visit only to be told the damage was not noticed. We brought the car home after explaining we would return if we intended on having them repair the end link and found that the mechanic had ripped off both sway bar end links. After calling and speaking to the general manager explaining this was extremely unprofessional to remove both the broken and working end links without my consent and receiving only rude remarks i called Mavis corporate. Mavis corporate called the store themselves and informed me the district manager would be reaching out shortly. That was three months ago and i never received the call back. I cut off the broken end link joints left by Mavis, bought new parts from Napa and replaced them myself. Do not go to this place unless you intend on being up sold and overpaying to fix the damage they cause. Instead support your local mom and pop shop who will provide you honest diagnosis and proper repairs.

Stopped by Mavis to have my battery checked out.....Vince who was working the counter already had all of my info pulled up before I even stepped foot in the door by using my license plate! Ive never been to this particular Mavis but was very impressed by the courteous, quick & knowledgeable people who work there! Thank you!

Since February (now August) they have not gotten the repair of my brakes right the last time they had my car it took 5 days to get the work done. Within a week my car was making a grinding noise when I used my brakes

New manager was awesome and super helpful! He talked me through options and told me what was best for my car. Very convenient to my house. Will definitely be back

Ive been coming here since they were STS Tire and this is by far, one of the best run businesses Ive been to. They have backed up their work and in fact, today, they fixed a previous repair for free. They dont try and find things to fix, they are honest and fair. I highly recommend them.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Mavis didnt change my oil filter when they charged me for it (illegal), I brought my car back for an engine on light within a week. They gave me lip service and a rental car for 4 days. After bringing my car to my trusted mechanic after the check engine light came on again within another week and a repair job the car engine has been blown. That was all because of Mavis not doing their job and lying to me about what they did numerous times. Dealing with corporate ended with several files, claims and nasty altercations with the regional manager who refuses to take any responsibility for anything. BUYER BEWARE!UPDATE: Its been A WEEK AND I HAVENT HEARD FROM ANYONE REGARDING MAVIS DESTROYING MY ENGINE. This is THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL place!

Couldnt be happier with my service from Mavis, they were fantastic. Corey at Mavis helped us out of a jam, where we broke down on I 80 not near enough to our house to go back, and the day before Thanksgiving and only an hour or so before closing. He got our blown out tire replaced, and we were back on the road right after when they should have been closing. We couldnt have been happier with our service, they are top notch and we so appreciated their help! What could have been a bad situation turned out well because of their top notch service. The Good....and BadThe Good-took my car over there for brakes and an oil change. Work was done promptly and the cost was reasonable. I give them credit for that.Now for the Bad-When I was waiting for my ride in the lobby there was an employee screaming and cursing about something in the shop area. Made me very uncomfortable about how this place is managed. Also, be very wary of when they call you to tell you what needs to be done to your car. The girl that called rattled off 5 more things that they recommend to be done extremely quickly like shocks, struts etc. to the tune of $1,100 in addition to what I originally asked for. This is a classic upselling technique used in these types of operations thinking the average person wont know any better. Not today sweetheart. Im no mechanic but I know my suspension is fine. So beware of the upselling. Otherwise a fairly good experience.

So its not rocket science people! If you cant remember the difference between full synthetic oil change and synthetic blend $38 or $68 ask to look into your history.. I tell them what I want and I tell them to add the coupons.. never had a problem in 10 years. If youre not happy about the service tell the manager right then and there before you pay.. there might be a New Kids on the Block but I am a Hackettstown local. Tommy was so accommodating

Went to them because I had a slow leak in one of my tires. But it was very slow, I had been putting air in the tire and driving it with no issues. They said they couldn’t fix it and I needed a new tire but was told to just keep filling the tire till I got a new one and it would be fine. By the next morning after they had my car the tire was completely flat and my car was undriveable. I called and complained and they just left me on hold. Worst experience I’ve ever had.

Beware: this place is a ripoff!!.. needed new motor mounts they offered to put them on for a whopping $3200 when i told him(the manager)my car wasnt even worth that he said he would take care of me and do it for $2700, the next day they call me and say corporate is willing to drop the price to $1700 lol. I went down the street to Vally auto for a second opinion and his first and only price was $420......... no negotiations no BS. Never go here, much more honest mechanic right up the road..

First I want to apologize for not sending a review sooner. I want to thank the manager Eddie for his excellent leadership. i experienced a very low pressure tire with my new Benz and Eddie and his team were able to assist me with this situation. I am forever grateful that Eddie did not take advance of me instead he gave me great advise on how to resolve my problem for future reference.

Really great service and staff

I just went for a standard oil change. Every one was friendly and did there job. But Im leaving feeling dissatisfied because I feel tricked. I called gave my information and was quoted a price. Once I got there the manager started quoting another price(ofcourse it was more) reasoning why. Once I refused the outrageously priced services they said my car needed, that is when all of sudden my oil change doubled. They are some schemers.

Stopped by yesterday 1/14/20 at the Mavis in Hackettstown to get my oil changed a little after 4pm. I was greeted by Travis & Jason at the front desk. They were absolutely Gentlemen! As I sat there watching TV as I waited, I listened to how gracious they were to everyone that walked in! Just really nice guys. Heck I came for just an oil change and ended up buying 4 New tires for the 4Runner as well! They gave me a great deal and even a little discount for being a disabled Vet. I highly recommend them. This shop has never been the same since they changed from STS. I have tried a couple times just because of the convenience. Never again. The car is never ready when promised even with minor things like oil changes or tires. The staff does not seem to care and does not appreciate the business like in the past.

Very good prices - Select on their website then call, let them know U/R on the web and they will go even lower. Mounting balancing and alignment went good. Dealt with counter person and manager and all were courteous. Downside is very busy place but to be expected as their good rep in the area grows.

This location specifically was such a help to me. Chris was such a wonderful help and not only did he tell me what was wrong with great description but showed me physically the parts of my car that were worked on. It was done very efficiently and professionally. Would highly recommend this shop :)
